Where to Stay in Stockholm (Updated 2025)

"Housed in an 1880s building, Scandic Grand Central features a fitness center, sauna and bike rentals; the beds are really comfy and the rooms have a minimalist wood Scandinavian feel, making it one of the nicer hotels in the area." - Matthew Kepnes

I stayed here for a business trip due to the proximity to the commuter rail and the fun vibe. The hotel staff were very friendly. Breakfast was plentiful with a lot of options, I enjoyed the overnight oats every morning. The room I got with my corporate rate was a bit small but ok for one person. It had musical quotes in the room and a picture of a singer (I think from ABBA) The one odd thing was no closet or drawers, just hangers on a bar on the wall. The bathroom was nice but had an odd set up where the shower door had a large gap between it and the panel connecting it to the wall. The floor ended up soaked after every shower. The hotel advertises there is live music but I couldn't find any schedule. One night I would have liked to just eat in the hotel bar after a long day but the menu was extremely small and did not have food I wanted.

The room was very basic and did not match the cost. Breakfast was also simple and not particularly impressive. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all during the whole stay (for me and my friend), and the Bluetooth connection on the TV was broken. When I brought this up with the front desk, I received no help—they said it was my problem, not theirs. I will not stay here again. Irecommend staying at Scandic Wallin instead, where the service is much better and the rooms are nice according to the price.

Had a great stay for 3 nights. The room, whilst slightly small, was more than enough and was super quiet. Didn't hear another guest at all. ||Breakfast was excellent, and the best scrambled eggs i've ever had in a hotel!

This will be long. Two adults spent 3 nights here in late August as part of a bus tour group and mostly enjoyed our stay. The room was nicely arranged with comfortable twin beds, desk, 2 chairs, and a room safe. Lighting could have been better. Located close to the central public transportation hub with buses, tram and subway. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby including a small grocery in the central transport hub mall area. We took the tram to both the Swedish History Museum and the Vasa Museum on separate days. It was about a 10 minute walk to the tram stop and then about the same to either museum from where we got off. The conductor on the tram collected one-way ticket money via credit card. All-day passes are available for purchase we were told but not on the tram. The breakfast at the hotel all of the days was excellent. Why can’t we get bread that tastes this good in the U.S.? Note that the weather was cold and rainy while we were here and that the room was cold in general but especially the floor. The hotel said there was nothing that could be done as the heat had not been turned on yet. However, the comforter on the bed was too warm at night. The room really needs sheets and mid-weight blankets on the beds. We would stay here again.

Stayed 3 nights as part of a tour. Great location but rooms are very small .|Staff were great , breakfast good . Had dinner there one night bistro very noisy due to a quiz night on the mezzanine . Food acceptable and not overpriced by Stockholm standards. Would stay again.

Great location and nice clean room but it was a up sale for everything we got from the moment we arrived. Our room was not ready but they could give us a room that was ready for an additional $135? Breakfast was not included and was an additional $27.50 per person? This went on for our entire stay. Some of the staff were helpful but overall very reluctant to do so?

The hotel is ideally located, offering easy access to nearby attractions and making it a convenient base for exploring the area. The room itself was smaller than expected compared to other hotels I’ve stayed in, but it was well-kept and clean. Breakfast was simple—nothing extraordinary, yet sufficient to start the day on a good note.

Great location - close to many restaurants, shops, sights, and public transit. Sadly the room I stayed in left much to be desired. 1. The heater can only be adjusted +/- 2 degrees C and can’t be turned off. I steamed in bed every night even when I left the balcony door cracked open with it being 45 degrees F outside. 2. The toilet stank of urine during my entire stay. After blank flushing multiple times the smell would be subtle enough to ignore, but every morning when I woke up to use the bathroom I was hit with the stink. I didn’t make a fuss about it since I could mitigate the stink a bit everyday, but they shouldn’t offer hotel rooms with a stench 3. The shower gel was so thin and watery
