Scandic Grand Tromsø

We had a good couple of nights in the Scandic Grand Hotel. The hotel is well located in the city center, just a few minutes’ walk from the waterfront and tons of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. There is a large parking garage about 2 minutes walk away but it is quite pricey at over 400NOK per day. The main entrance and reception to the hotel is rather unimpressive, just a set of doors unceremoniously located on a side street. The reception area is cramped, lacking the space required for people to check in and out comfortably. It always seemed to be crowded and a bottleneck whenever we entered the hotel. There was also a lack of sufficient lifts during busy times. Even though we were on the 8th floor, it was sometimes much easier to just take the stairs. Our room was nice, of average size, with an amazing view over the city and surrounding mountains. Everything was clean, bright, modern, and comfortable with good storage space and we were happy we had a mini-fridge in the room. The TV and internet both worked well. My main complaint with the room was that it was uncomfortably hot with no way to cool it down – there was no AC available and the window only opened a crack. I ended up having to go down and ask for a fan so I could get to sleep. The breakfast was excellent – a huge variety of hot and cold dishes – and plenty of sitting space in the restaurant. One of the best aspects of this hotel was the complimentary use of a nearby commercial gym, Sky Fitness, a few minutes walk away. It is a very well equipped 24/7 gym located on the waterfront. Overall we had a good stay and would definitely recommend it to other travellers.

Be sure not to book your stay during the weekend, as the hotel's ground floor is apparently the city's most popular night club and open until 3.00 a.m., and therefore you're guaranteed to get absolutely no sleep until the nightclub closes. It's ridiculous. We did get a partial refund for the nightclub noise after considering to cancel our second night at the hotel.||Breakfast is busy and you might not be able to get a table until after waiting for some time. There's also no dedicated parking and you may need to park your car at a nearby parking house for about 350NOK / day. ||On a positive note, the rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are clean and nice.

We liked the hotel very much indeed the view from the room was really beautiful the room was cleaned to a high standard every day. The breakfast at the hotel was very enjoyable and excellent choice was available . All staff in the hotel were very friendly and efficient. The bus from the airport stops right outside very convenient. The only negative was it was Easter and the hotel restaurant and bar were closed which was very disappointing as we had not been told before we arrived otherwise would give hotel 5 stars

I have been at this hotel several times before, and I have always enjoyed staying here. My room was at the 7th floor, and I had a great view. The hotel is located very central, and it is close to shops, the mall, bars, restaurants, tourist information, cinema, library and a lot of other nice places.

Very nice and welcoming personal. The accommodation is centrally located and only minutes from all shops, buses, restaurants and the fjord. The hotel breakfast was great.

The family room is considered big for a family of 4. The view from. 8th floor is amazing. Toilet is huge. You can find a car park less than 100 meter/2 minutes walk. Download the easy park app and pay. Pretty straightforward. Overall, I am happy with the price and stay.

This hotel was fantastic. Right in the centre of Tromso town. Plenty of nice coffee shops & bars surrounding it. I would recommend Egon for lunch or dinner. It is fantastic and a 2minute walk from the hotel. You will definitely need a reservation! The hotel is comfortable and the staff are efficient and friendly. We had the superior room on 8th floor which was spacious & clean. Our departure flight was early, but the hotel have a breakfast selection at reception for the guests who won’t make breakfast. There were croissants, OJ, yogurts etc. there is also free tea & coffee beside the reception for all hotel guests 24/7. I really liked the wall shop that was beside the tea/coffee facilities. You could get deodorants, snacks etc. There was also a screen with the airport bus timetables available which was very handy. My partner and I were over in Tromso for the ‘Midnight Sun Run’ in June. The bar in the hotel was great fun after the race. We loved our stay here, we could not fault anything.

First time I've stayed at this hotel. Was on a course for 1 week. Stayed from Sunday to Friday. The first room I got wasn't cleaned at all. Complained. Got a new room immediately without discussion. Agreed with reception that it could be cleaned every other day. But the cleaning that was done was of rather poor quality. Didn't wipe the floor in the bathroom. Used tooth glass, and glass that was used for juice and other drinks was not replaced. Bedside light didn't work. Took at least 2 days to get it fixed. Otherwise the staff was nice. And the hotel was centrally located. That's why I chose this hotel.
