The hotel was conveniently located by the harbor, meeting points of tours, museums, and walking distance to the restaurants. The breakfast was good and had many healthy choices. The master suite was spacious with a great view. The living room had very comfortable couches and chairs to relax while enjoying the beautiful views of the ocean and mountains. ||||All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to the staff at the front desk, breakfast staff, and housekeeping. They did an outstanding job! They all had a great smile and very pleasant to deal with. The room was kept very clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious and clean. The water pressure of the shower was great and it was very crucial after a long day of sightseeing.||||The hotel was within walking distance to the grocery store, main street shops, and public transportation. The city map provides the bus number to the various tourist attractions.||||Overall, we had a great memorable stay (again) and we highly recommend this hotel in Tromso!

Perfect location close to the heart of Tromso. Friendliness of the staff and quality of breakfast were the highlights! Not a lot of options of hotels in Tromso but recommend this one! Only disappointment was the taxi request machine at the front desk. Booked the day before and no taxi arrived at set time - the taxi service didn’t even contact until 2 hours after the set time! Recommend uber.

We loved our stay at Scandic Ishavshotel. The room was clean and comfortable for two people. Our only complaint was we wished there had been more storage space so we didn't have to constantly dig through our luggage, but we managed fine. The bed was very comfortable and roomy. Bathroom was typical. I liked how many towel hooks there were - probably sounds strange but so many hotels have nowhere to hang towels which is so annoying. I did wish the shower had space to put our toiletries. The shower door can be tricky but at least it kept the water in the shower. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The best part was the breakfast. It's not your typical hotel breakfast buffet. I couldn't believe the spread - we ended up eating breakfast at the hotel everyday because it was so good. Location is also perfect. Everywhere we went in town was just a 5-15 minute walk. There are cheaper hotel options in town but I picked this one because the rooms were a bit bigger, so more comfortable for two people with big bags, plus the breakfast alone made the price worth it. Would stay again.

Hotel is well located and in good condition. Excellent breakfast. We had resonably nice view from our 4th floor standard room, BUT it was very noisy at night. There is a sports bar next to the hotel and the local supporters are loud and drunk, even on Sundays. Luckily there was space and we could change the room to quiet side in the middle of our stay. Staff was ok, not super friendly/talkative, but ok.

We had a junior suite here, which offered a panoramic view of the Harbor and beyond. The room was very comfortable, although the bathroom desperately needed more shelf space and the light switch for the bathroom was above head height for some reason. Also, as with some other hotels in Norway, wash cloths were not provided, nor were facial tissues. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and unfailingly pleasant. The breakfast buffet was enormous, with a plethora of delicious dishes. We also had dinner at the hotel one night, which was also delicious with excellent service.

Reviewing it as a business traveler. Nice hotel in downtown Tromsø. Room was clean and the beds were really good. Slept like a baby! And amazing views! Staff was friendly too during check-in and check-out. Only minus is the breakfast. It is not bad, it is a standard hotel breakfast. But for a hotel that won some prize in 2023ish and still mention it on their website that is sure not visible in 2025. Standard options of food and drinks. But am not a breakfast person so the hotel still get a 4/5 rating from me.

Scandic Ishavshotel was an excellent choice for our trip. Good service and breakfast, amazing views directly towards the port. Only negatives were the absence of air conditioning and the door lock. It got very hot, especially during the night, therefore we had to open the windows constantly. The door locking mechanism was also something that was difficult. We couldn't figure out how to lock the door sometimes, but the door would lock after a bit of twisting and turning.

Perfect location for tours. Practically everything had this hotel as a start or stop point. Room was pretty small but had a nice view. It was also quiet. The window opened for fresh air. Main complaint would be that breakfast always seemed busy and chaotic with just too many people for the space available.

Yelp
This was a pretty great hotel; I'm not quite sure what the complaints are about, but I think for the price you pay, you get a very nice place to stay. $154/night isn't bad at all. [HIGHLIGHTS] Awesome breakfast buffet with huge selection and really good food. Eggs are amazing and chocolate croissants were great. You get an awesome view of the water and mountains from the lobby, and if you're lucky (like me), you get a good view from your room. Free and fast WiFi, and super simple to get on; just give your name and phone number. Room was pretty big, and you could easily control the temperature from with the heater or opening the window. The shower was also designed well so that water didn't spread across the entire bathroom floor (you know this problem if you've stayed in other hotels in the Scandinavia area). Free hot water/tea on the second floor (closes at some point in the evening). Easy access to almost all the food places (try out Huken Pub!); pretty much 15 minute walk MAX to anywhere. Close distance to the tour pickup locations and tourist information. Right outside is the bus stop to get to the airport (you can pay right as you get on the bus with credit card or cash). [OTHER COMMENTS] Seriously this place is really good compared to the other hotels I've stayed at during my trip in Scandinavia.

Yelp
Small but comfortable. Don't think there are many luxe hotels in tromso. This is probably as good as it gets together with raddison blue. Location very convenient for northern light activities start point. Breakfast spread is huge and comes with room. Service staff are friendly and helpful. Walking distance from eating joints. Beautiful view if u get the rooms facing the harbor. Witnesses a few awesome snow storms from here too. Small but comfortable. Don't think there are many luxe hotels in tromso. Yelp
This hotel was supposed to be our little splurge - of all our 10 nights in Norway this was by far the most expensive and was much higher than any other hotel in Tromso, so I expected a nice hotel. I was sorely disappointed. First of all, I booked a 'view' room only to be told upon check in that views are not guaranteed. It's very deceptive to advertise a room at a higher price specifically because it has a view only to then say that getting a room with a view is not guaranteed. Another thing that was really deceptive to me is that they specifically advertise - both online and physically in the room - that they have both guest laundry AND dry cleaning service. I specifically booked this hotel because I knew we'd need to wash clothes at the last 1/3 of our trip. At check in we asked about the laundry and the clerk told us there is no self service laundry and he laughed and said they didn't have that anywhere in town and we'd have to pay hotel laundry service prices if we wanted our clothes cleaned. The price was just absolutely CRIMINAL - about THIRTY DOLLARS USD to wash ONE shirt!!!!! Needless to say the front desk service was awful; rude and entirely unwelcoming. Another thing - I can deal with a run-down hotel but when there is actual trash on the floor in the hallways AND your room, clearly they don't care to clean the place, let alone keep up the repairs. Room window was also disgusting with dirty streaked handprints all over it. Gross. Lastly, the layout of this room is absolutely horrendous. You literally have to flatten yourself against the wall to close the shower door, there is not even room to stand in the shower and close the door. It's a tiny square stall that is about the size of an airplane seat... in coach... on a low cost carrier. Oh, and when you use the toilet your knees and feet are in the shower. SO disgusting and uncomfortable!!! Oh, and they don't have washcloths. I absolutely hated this bathroom so badly... if my stay wasn't pre-paid I'd have left and gone to the Radisson across the street for 30% less money. In the bed area the space is horrible too.... for some bizarre reason there is a baby's crib/bed that hangs down off the wall and takes up all the walking space so you have to duck under it to even get to the bed. Don't sit up quick in the middle of the night or you'll probably bang your head into it! And the bed itself is utterly rock hard. May as well sleep on the floor. I hate this hotel so badly... it makes me want to cry that I spent such a huge amount of money on two nights here. It has completely ruined the Tromso part of our Norway vacation.

Yelp
Decent hotel with relatively small room. Not much space to layout luggage. Bathroom is okay size with a good amount of area to layout toiletries. The breakfast buffet is very good; a wide selection to chose from. Even though they ran out of maple syrup for the mini pancakes, I still enjoyed them! The freshly squeezed smoothie shots are a must try! Nice view from the lobby and breakfast area. I have two major complaints. The first being no wifi in the hotel room. For some reason there is perfect reception in the lobby and hallway, but the second I stepped into the room there is no reception! The second compliant is checked luggage at the lobby is unattended. We were told to just leave our luggage in this small closet room which may or may not be locked. Luckily our luggage was still there when we returned to get them!
