We stayed here for 4 nights and found the hotel to be great. The receptionists were friendly and helpful as were the staff in the breakfast area. Our rooms were fine with a nice view of the bay, which we had requested, when booking with our travel agent. We didn't bother with requesting the cleaning service, as only there for a short time, but the bins were emptied each day. We felt the choice at breakfast was excellent and had something for everyone. We did dine at the restaurant on our 1st evening and thought the menu was very limited and last orders at the bar at 11pm rather early. |The location was fabulous, right in the heart of the city, so it was perfect for us. |There is a bar right opposite the hotel called Rorbua which we went to and a great restaurant/bar called Kaia on the waterfront which does great food and music at the weekend. We went on a day trip with Wondering Reindeer to feed the reindeers and see spectacular scenery with lunch which was well worth it. We went up on the cable car for amazing views and also visited the Arctic Cathedral. We had fantastic weather but needed to hire snow spikes as very slippy. We got these from Tromso Outdoor not far from the hotel. We loved our holiday in this winter wonderland. We were also lucky enough to see the Northern Lights over the harbour. |We would definitely recommend this hotel and can't understand so many negative reviews.

The beds are pretty bad, I had horrible sleep for 5 days. The plumbing is loud, all night you can hear everyone flushing toilets. Very small room and bathroom was tiny. We paid extra for the water view but it wasn't worth it. The room was adjacent to the water view and really not the best. Couldn't see the NYE fireworks at all. The breakfast closing time is no joke, 1 second past the time and it shuts down completely. The $90+USD NYE dinner was way over priced and a major let down. Don't go during NYE because the place is packed! They just don't seem to go the extra mile here and you feel like cattle. Don't expect to see the northern lights from your hotel, you won't. I would highly recommend staying at the Edge hotel instead, we ended up there for a night cap and it seemed way better!

The hotel is next to the airport drop off / pick up bus stop which is handy. Right on the water and conveniently located for tour pick ups (we had 2 that picked up across the street), walks into town and restaurants / shops.|Small but quick and efficient check in. The restaurant has an extensive breakfast selection, but lacks the number of tables required at busy times. Most daily tours pick up at 0930, making 0830-0900 very busy, with often people sharing tables. Plus clearing away of dirty plates was slow.|We had a harbour view room, with a large window. The room needed more light, it was fine at the window but the rest of the room was too dark. The bed was comfy, but all the furniture felt pushed together near the window, with a big empty area in one corner. Hanging space is fine, but draw / shelving is limited and we were only there for 3 nights with hand luggage.|The bathroom had a lovely heated floor, great after a long day out in the cold. There were 2 bath and 2 hand towels and no floor mat which was annoying.|You are told at reception and there is a sign in the room, maid service needs to be booked by 2300 the day before you would like it. If you don’t they do come around and empty the bin and replace toilet roll. Like most hotels the bin is not large enough. |Overall a decent hotel, but could make some small changes to be better.

This hotel is at great location, accessible to many shops and resturants. Even some tours’ meet up point is also easy to get back. View is stunning. We were able to see the northern light from our room on the 22 Nov 25. There is heating on the bathroom floor which is a plus point during cold winter.Reception staffs were friendly and understanding. Will come back to this hotel again.

Oh I loved this hotel! I had the perfect view. I stayed so many hours just watching the changing colors of the sky from my room.. Breakfast was amazing, the room was comfy, the location was central next to the airport express bus stop and all the touristy fun places, and the port itself. Going to the main market area was quite straight forwards. When I was visiting, the hotel had many tourists coming over form all over the world...showing how popular the place is. Overall id give it a 10/10!

Not at all value for money. Bed was overly bouncy, pillows were so soft to the point that they were almost non existent. Fold a few times to get the height. Carpet felt dusty. The couch/cushion/sofa was dirty looking with brown stains on it. No tissue box, room was stuffy and super hot even though it was winter and the window was open, curtains drawn. Then came the flood lights from the ships that dock next to the hotel that will shine directly into your room at any time of the day and night. So choose your pain, heat or light. Light sleepers please beware. See photo. The breakfast was not too bad. Standard fare.

Stayed here for 4nights. When we checked in, the female staff was a bit snobbish, though it would have been better if she assisted us with good attitude but that didn’t really ruined our experience Spacious room, comfortable bed and pillows. Awesome view from the window. Staffs at the breakfast are nice and accommodating, food spreading is good and lot of options. The guy making the eggs is pleasant and accepts requests. I like my omelette with only mushrooms and he made it every time I asked. We saw the Northern Lights three consecutive nights. We didn’t have to book a tour or drive far, we witnessed it right outside the hotel. Best part of our trip. The toilet is good size but has a bit of foul smell like pee. The smell stayed even after taking shower. So keep the door closed

My first time in Tromso, made the right decision for staying in Scandic Ishavshotel. I’ve stayed for 5 nights, because of long stay they provide me an upgrade to sea view rooms and early check in. The rooms are clean and shower is strong and hot. The only off side is the bed a little bit too soft. The location is so strategic, away from the bustling streets and yet close walking distance to the busy area. The airport bus stop is right in front of the hotel which made it super convenient and hassle free. Breakfast is almost the same everyday, a lot of the varieties and food are delicious!

Yelp
This was a pretty great hotel; I'm not quite sure what the complaints are about, but I think for the price you pay, you get a very nice place to stay. $154/night isn't bad at all. [HIGHLIGHTS] Awesome breakfast buffet with huge selection and really good food. Eggs are amazing and chocolate croissants were great. You get an awesome view of the water and mountains from the lobby, and if you're lucky (like me), you get a good view from your room. Free and fast WiFi, and super simple to get on; just give your name and phone number. Room was pretty big, and you could easily control the temperature from with the heater or opening the window. The shower was also designed well so that water didn't spread across the entire bathroom floor (you know this problem if you've stayed in other hotels in the Scandinavia area). Free hot water/tea on the second floor (closes at some point in the evening). Easy access to almost all the food places (try out Huken Pub!); pretty much 15 minute walk MAX to anywhere. Close distance to the tour pickup locations and tourist information. Right outside is the bus stop to get to the airport (you can pay right as you get on the bus with credit card or cash). [OTHER COMMENTS] Seriously this place is really good compared to the other hotels I've stayed at during my trip in Scandinavia.

Yelp
Small but comfortable. Don't think there are many luxe hotels in tromso. This is probably as good as it gets together with raddison blue. Location very convenient for northern light activities start point. Breakfast spread is huge and comes with room. Service staff are friendly and helpful. Walking distance from eating joints. Beautiful view if u get the rooms facing the harbor. Witnesses a few awesome snow storms from here too. Small but comfortable. Don't think there are many luxe hotels in tromso. Yelp
This hotel was supposed to be our little splurge - of all our 10 nights in Norway this was by far the most expensive and was much higher than any other hotel in Tromso, so I expected a nice hotel. I was sorely disappointed. First of all, I booked a 'view' room only to be told upon check in that views are not guaranteed. It's very deceptive to advertise a room at a higher price specifically because it has a view only to then say that getting a room with a view is not guaranteed. Another thing that was really deceptive to me is that they specifically advertise - both online and physically in the room - that they have both guest laundry AND dry cleaning service. I specifically booked this hotel because I knew we'd need to wash clothes at the last 1/3 of our trip. At check in we asked about the laundry and the clerk told us there is no self service laundry and he laughed and said they didn't have that anywhere in town and we'd have to pay hotel laundry service prices if we wanted our clothes cleaned. The price was just absolutely CRIMINAL - about THIRTY DOLLARS USD to wash ONE shirt!!!!! Needless to say the front desk service was awful; rude and entirely unwelcoming. Another thing - I can deal with a run-down hotel but when there is actual trash on the floor in the hallways AND your room, clearly they don't care to clean the place, let alone keep up the repairs. Room window was also disgusting with dirty streaked handprints all over it. Gross. Lastly, the layout of this room is absolutely horrendous. You literally have to flatten yourself against the wall to close the shower door, there is not even room to stand in the shower and close the door. It's a tiny square stall that is about the size of an airplane seat... in coach... on a low cost carrier. Oh, and when you use the toilet your knees and feet are in the shower. SO disgusting and uncomfortable!!! Oh, and they don't have washcloths. I absolutely hated this bathroom so badly... if my stay wasn't pre-paid I'd have left and gone to the Radisson across the street for 30% less money. In the bed area the space is horrible too.... for some bizarre reason there is a baby's crib/bed that hangs down off the wall and takes up all the walking space so you have to duck under it to even get to the bed. Don't sit up quick in the middle of the night or you'll probably bang your head into it! And the bed itself is utterly rock hard. May as well sleep on the floor. I hate this hotel so badly... it makes me want to cry that I spent such a huge amount of money on two nights here. It has completely ruined the Tromso part of our Norway vacation.

Yelp
Decent hotel with relatively small room. Not much space to layout luggage. Bathroom is okay size with a good amount of area to layout toiletries. The breakfast buffet is very good; a wide selection to chose from. Even though they ran out of maple syrup for the mini pancakes, I still enjoyed them! The freshly squeezed smoothie shots are a must try! Nice view from the lobby and breakfast area. I have two major complaints. The first being no wifi in the hotel room. For some reason there is perfect reception in the lobby and hallway, but the second I stepped into the room there is no reception! The second compliant is checked luggage at the lobby is unattended. We were told to just leave our luggage in this small closet room which may or may not be locked. Luckily our luggage was still there when we returned to get them!
