Where to Stay in Copenhagen When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"This sleek, cool new hotel in neighboring Kødbyen felt ideal for nightlife, being only a short walk to Vesterbro’s best bars, restaurants, and nightclubs; I found the spacious rooms have large, thick, comfortable beds and some include French balconies." - Matthew Kepnes

I’m not sure why the bad reviews. We actually loved our stay here for 3 nights. The room we booked was decent but we were offered an upgrade for 400kr (about $60 USD) and it was absolutely worth it. We were moved to the top floor and it was a bigger room. All the complaints about noise and night clubs didn’t exist in our room. It was very quiet. The only thing we weren’t informed about was construction outside the room but we only heard it on Monday which was our last day, didn’t really bother us. The gym was one of the best I’ve had at any hotel. Staff was super friendly. Breakfast was really really good. We only had it one morning but it kept us full all day. Location was great. Meat packing district and only really ten mins from downtown. Copenhagen isn’t cheap so this was the best bang for our buck that we could find and would happily stay there again :)

Great hotel. Beautiful room, we had 3047 and had a massive window with a window seat which was great. We had our window open overnight so did have a bit of noise from deliveries etc in the lane but nothing major - had a great sleep overall. ||Great choice at breakfast. They did have gluten free options (porridge, pancakes, chia pudding) but obviously other (non GF) people were using the GF area so there was a bit of risk but good that they’ve at least made an attempt. ||Walkable distance to the main train station. ||If I was coming back to Copenhagen I’d definitely stay here again.

A really nice hotel, we had a massive comfy bed, it was very quiet despite being a big busy hotel and the breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve ever had. Vegans very well catered for with soya milk, non dairy spread and non dairy overnight oats.

The hotel has an excellent location – close to the city center, with train and metro stations within walking distance, as well as shops and a shopping mall nearby. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and the breakfast offered a wide variety of options. Service was friendly – we received an early check-in and could store our luggage securely. The only minor downside was some noise from a nearby bar on one night, but it wasn’t disturbing. Overall, a great hotel that I would definitely recommend for a friend.

Have stayed here twice. Both times were excellent. Great breakfast. Enjoyed the bar at night. On the second trip they were very accommodating with early check-in and offered a space in the co-working area if it wasn’t available. The gym is also well taken care of and has decent equipment. Appreciate being able to checkout with an email.

We slept so well. The room was perfectly quiet, just don't stay in it on 23 September of any year when they do "end of the summer fireworks" (as we discovered the following morning when we asked) but apart from that we had a full, wonderful night of sleep and woke well rested. The buffet breakfast was absolutely delicious. We didn't have dinner, but next time we'll avoid staying on a Sunday when the restaurant is closed (maybe they should have you can pre-book a plate of bread and chilled cooked meats for like ten Euro extra per person on Sundays because the restaurant is closed). If the plate had been available the overall rating would have five stars. Well, the lack of a working tv (which should have tested before our arrival as I've experienced in the past at other hotels) it would have been five stars too (they did offer us another room but that was not suitable for me). But we were tired so we were fine with everything we had available... so I conclude with an overall five stars... Definitely staying again but next time a room closer to the lift).

The room was not cleaned well they did not change the bedsheets. At night there was so much noise coming from the street i couldnt sleep. Theres no minifridge table or a chair in the room. The winow faces another building straight so if i wanted to look out i am greeted with 20 young boys who are sitting in a class or something.

Fantastic staff and room. We was there for the half marathon and this was fairly close to the train and not to far from the metro. The breakfast was incredible with lots of different food options. The staff was always service oriented and friendly. It also had a bar in the reception.

Yelp
Adam H and I recently stayed here on our Scandinavian vacation. The location of this hotel was perfect for us being in the trendy meat packing district, but I wouldn't recommend for families or travelers not wanting to spend time in this area, because it was a good walk (or bike ride) to several other touristy areas of the city. Pros: 1. Wifi was good, as long as you signed in again every 12 hours 2. Free breakfast 3. Fun location in the meat packing district, near lots of bars and restaurants (War Pigs, Fermentator, etc...) 4. Friendly staff Cons: 1. We had some issues with our shower drain and housekeeping and had to ask numerous times for assistance 2. Breakfast options were somewhat limited, and it was a little confusing at first if we were to seat ourselves or wait for staff 3. Not very close to many of the tourist attractions in the city - about 10-15 minute walk to Central Station and Tivoli, and everything else was father than that 4. Bike rental was fairly expensive 5. No refrigerator in the room 6. Close to a grocery store Overall, we were happy with our stay, but this hotel is not for everyone.

Yelp
I planned on staying next week but circumstances out of my control forced me to cancel my international trip. I've spoken to a handful of front desk staff and all have been extremely rigid and unaccommodating. They'll likely rebook my room to someone else while I'm out $500 USD for a three-night stay I cannot use.

Yelp
First time in Copenhagen. I'm used to smaller everything in Europe. The rooms were quite nice and the standard room was larger than I was expecting. There are no sports channels on their TV. But the ladies behind the desk are exemplary. They are very nice and incredibly helpful. I would single one or two out but they were all great. The restaurant was very good and I almost never say that about an on-property restaurant. But try the SASHI ribeye. Yum.

Yelp
My wife and I booked a room for early June 2020 a while back at Kodbyen to stay one night following a Baltic Cruise. We had no intention of canceling until the Corona Virus resulted in the cruise and all our flights from the US being canceled. Despite the virus nearly affecting 2600 Danes, killing 77 of its citizens, and despite we can't get to Denmark, the Scandic Kodbyen says "No DIce" in returning our deposit. How insensitive and inflexible can the personnel of this hotel be!!?? As an important aside, the entire Hilton Hotel chain just announced complete refunds for anyone who booked a hotel through June 30th, no excuses, no exceptions. I urge anyone interesting in Scandic Kodbyen to book elsewhere. If they treat guests like this during a crisis, think about how they would treat you when it's over if extenuating circumstances changed your travel plans?
