Where to Stay in Stockholm (Updated 2025)

"Located right near the central station, Scandic 53 is a convenient base (you can reach the airport in as little as 20 minutes), includes free breakfast, and while the rooms are simple they're quiet and good for a solid night's sleep." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Stockholm (Updated 2025)

"I appreciated that it's right near the central station in Norrmalm, putting you close to restaurants, shops, the Royal Opera, and city parks. It's an affordable midrange hotel with clean Scandinavian design, minimalist rooms that get a lot of natural light, and plush comforters. The complimentary, sprawling breakfast buffet is a great perk in pricey Stockholm, and there's a lounge and outdoor courtyard to relax in; guests also get free access to a nearby fitness center, which I think is an awesome benefit." - Matthew Kepnes

The room is very2 small, so if is say only for 1 person, means very small: and you need to upgrade. Location is not right in the center of action means quite, but not far to go to all tourist attractions. Breakfast has many choices, but lack of omellet choice. Coffee need a bit stronger…

The hotel that makes us wish we had stayed longer even though we stayed for 1 day. Very close to everything from the center. The breakfast was incredibly delicious and varied. There are lockers where you can leave your luggage. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but I think the most important thing was that they had incredibly friendly and helpful employees. Thanks for everything.

The hotel is nice overall—clean, orderly, and in a very convenient location. The rooms are on the smaller side compared to other hotels from the same brand, but they are perfectly fine for a short stay. The breakfast experience, however, was a bit chaotic. It was very crowded, and the staff struggled to keep everything restocked. We also noticed the selection wasn't as varied or extensive as what we've seen at other hotels from this brand

The room is not well maintained. From the floors to the walls to the toilets and mirrors are very dusty!!! Breakfasts should be paid for and booked, but actually it is the same breakfast they offered as before. The quality of food is exactly the same (so why should we pay more for the breakfast if we are still getting the exact same food). I think if people should pay more for breakfast, then there should be more choices of food and it should have a better quality. The only thing scandic have now is their staff!! Kudos!!! You guys are so welcoming and friendly! Without these people, no one would book your hotel!

Unfortunately, the room was not properly cleaned. The bins hadn’t been emptied after the previous guest, and there was visible dirt on the floor, walls, and bed linens. The shower heads were also very dirty, and the light in my room made a loud noise whenever it was on.||||On a positive note, the hotel itself is nice, and both the service and breakfast were good. However, the cleanliness fell short, and the value for money was poor. At this price point, I expected a higher standard and if the room had been cheaper, these issues might have been easier to overlook.

This Hotel is very close to the Central station. It has a good breakfast and the beds are comfortable. The rooms are not modern, but suitable.

Hotel with great location. Rooms are quite small and at least November time our room was quite cold . Breakfast has very good variety of food. Receptionists are very friendly .

The good: location is great, city center, walkable from train station. Hotel is clean and comfortable, rooms seem to be quiet, even on 1st floor. We arrived about an hour and a half before regular check-in time, the staff person said our room was ready and we could check-in, and after 24 hours of being up and awake because of traveling, that was wonderful, until he said it would cost extra if we’d like to go to our room early. Um, okay, because I would love to wash my face! So I paid extra, but honestly, what? Breakfast is included, and it is pretty decent. It would be nice if they offered complimentary coffee in the lobby, but they don’t, you have to pay for it out of a machine if you’d like a cup anytime of day besides during breakfast hours. Rooms are clean and if you need extra towels or pillows, they are delivered quickly. The not so good: the rooms are small, which, okay, I can deal with, but we were in an extremely dark room, there was a window that overlooked an interior courtyard, however the window was BOLTED shut, with no way to open the window. There is no ventilation, we asked for a fan, they brought one up, so we at least had some air circulation. The bathroom is tiny, the shower is a walk in which I prefer compared to a tub/shower combo, but the water does not drain to the drain very well, so you end up with a small lake over the majority of the bathroom floor (hence ask for extra towels). All staff were pleasant and professional, but next time I would choose elsewhere to stay.

Yelp
We stayed in Scandic No 53 during our visit to Stockholm. Location great - we were within easy walking distance to the waterfront, the shopping district, and the museums Super small room and the bathroom was even smaller & although it was basic, it served our needs - we do not spend any extra time in a hotel than we have to so we didn't need anything fancy or plush Free Wifi Pillows were flat but there were many so we stacked them up Never heard our neighbors & only on the last night did we hear noise from the street so not too bad at all. There was no A/C even though the temp regulator indicated they did have it - but it was cool enough that it didn't matter - this comment is simply to note there may or may not be A/C Huge dining room that served breakfast - although we did not indulge as we like to explore the city for local treats, we can say the dining room was full every time we came off the elevators. This is a popular spot! We'd totally stay here again & for that point alone, have to say we were fans

Yelp
This is about the lunch buffet! Usually a good selection of healthy sides, pretty decent bread and three different types of main dishes. The 10th time is free and after 13 it's only 75 crowns! It closes at 14 though and sometimes they don't replace things as it gets later. Always coffee and rotating desserts included. It even has a little courtyard in the summer. The staff is always really nice. It's a lunch classic! Recommended!

Yelp
Stayed at Scandic 53 for a work trip for 3 nights. No major complaints from me and I even stayed in one of the rooms without a window. Location is incredibly close to Central Station and it's so easy to navigate from the Arlanda Express station--even for a hopeless navigator like myself. It's also walking distance to almost everywhere. Room was small but they really optimise the space and decorate in a way (a.k.a lots of mirrors) to make the room seem more spacious (it works). Although I would normally prefer a room with a window, they decorate one of the walls with a "window curtain" to give the illusion of a window and I ended up being fine without a window in the end. Breakfast buffet is quite standard but they have a nice variety. My only minor complaint is that the eating area has a lot of lounge seating which makes for awkward eating if you didn't manage to snag a regular table. But again, this isn't a huge deal breaker. Apart from check in and check out, I didn't interact much with the staff but they all seemed cordial. Pleasant stay in Stockholm, would recommend.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel in city center. Close walk to Central Station, Gamla Stan and even the Vasa museum walk was pleasant. Hotel is spotless and has the best hotel breakfast I have ever seen. A delightful feast with wonderful coffee selection. The rooms are small with comfortable beds and big showers and there is a large courtyard and lounge for seating. This is close to great shops and gets 5 stars from me. They made my first trip to Stockholm very pleasant and relaxing.

Yelp
Stayed at this hotel for one night with my parents. Everything was wonderful! Clean and comfortable rooms and nice big buffet breakfast. This was docked one point however from the rude breakfast staff.

Yelp
Stayed just one night, but loved it! Great front desk service, and room was small but so efficiently and pleasantly designed. Bed was so very comfortable, although our "double" bed was two adjoining twin size "sleep number" beds. Breakfast buffet was free and excellent; tasty and healthy. Coffee was amazing. They have a few free bicycles for guests, alas first-come, first serve.
