Scandic Paasi (Helsinki, Finland) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"On the whole, the Nordic capitals are rather less a hotbed of clean-lined modernist design than you might imagine — here Art Nouveau is the visual language of luxury, and coziness, not coolness, is the prevailing hospitality trend. But in Scandic Paasi, the Finnish capital of Helsinki has a hotel that’s unapologetically modern in style, a riot of color hidden away behind a relatively nondescript facade, tucked in between historic buildings in the Siltasaari district, near Hakaniemi Market Square." - Tablet Hotels

Small hotel situated in a nice area near a lake. Plenty of restaurants near by and easy with public tram to city center. Rooms are really good, I especially like separate bath and toilet. The breakfast is supergood with many choices and clean area.

The hotel's location by the sea and close to the city centre is great. We had a spacious, comfy room, where one could easily stay for longer. And what I especially appreciated was all the efforts the hotel was making to be sustainable. E.g. While offering a delicious breakfast buffet, the hotel made a valuable effort to guide guests to eat healthy and sustainably.

One of my all-time favourite hotel rooms ever! Huge room, very uniquely decorated with a king-size bed, a sofa bed, another loveseat and 2 armchairs, a bar, and a dining table with chairs. Breakfast was excellent with pancakes and whipped cream and bacon.

This hotel has wonderful rooms and the most helpful staff! Breakfast has a lot of options and the special duets have been marked well. Also vegan and glutein free options. Staying In this hotel has been a joy every time. If I would need to stay only in one hotel the rest of my life, this hotel might be it!

This was my first time in a scandic hotel, and walking into the lobby gave great vibes and was spacious perfect for relaxing. As we just came one of the planes on our way to Europe we had a lot of baggage. They baggage section where you could keep you luggage was great. Lots of room for not only ours but multiple people. Once the room was ready we went in, it was nice and large, two big beds and a desk with a kettle. It was well equipped with outlets which was very need. However something we noticed rather quickly was just how bad the WIFI was. To be clear in the lobby it was fine and strong but at least in the room I was in, we could barely pick it up. Now of course there is no way to know if that was the same for other rooms. But it was very surprising as we were only on the first floor.||As I have previously mentioned the beds were large and very comfortable. The cover/blanket was warm and not too heavy. And because of this it gave us the well needed sleep that we dearly needed.|In the breakfast oh how we were treated to one of if not the best Buffet Breakfast's at any hotel I have ever seen. From juices to Beetroot balls it was amazing. The scrabbled eggs were cooked perfectly. No matter you likes and dislikes you will leave that buffet full. I would go again 100%||So to conclude how was it? Good, it was enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who wants a hotel in a perfect location in the center. With buses and trams connecting you to the entire city and to outer regions by trains. While we did go at a time when there was huge tram track upgrades I can tell it will make Scandic Paasi a great location to be. My only improvement would be to increase the power of the WIFI or add more routers but I am no expert so I can't really say much.

Great location, super close to the city center and within walking distance from the central train station. Very green area, with parks close by and places to eat as well. I would definitely come stay here again.

Great hotel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was a little bit far from the main attractions but it was a pleasant walk. The room was clean and I felt safe! The breakfast was amazing and the main floor bar was a great place to end the night

We had a spacious and stylish room with a huge balcony and a nice view over the rooftops of the city. The location was also perfect. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommended :)

Yelp
I arrived at Vantaa Airport to be welcomed by beaming ladies from the US-Finland Fulbright Welcoming Committee, thank you Tarja. We were dropped at Hotel Scandic Paasi which was near the train station and surrounded by lush trees and nearby markets and restaurants. The Hotel is a 3/4 star rated and they had wines and crackers at the table, as we entered a dimly lit and small welcome and check in counter. I was assigned at the second floor and to my surprise, I had a huge bathtub and while we are saving water in California, they seem to have plenty in Finland. After all, they shared that they're surrounded by lakes and rivers, located all over the country. The room was well decorated, sheets smelled really great and the room was perfectly prepared. Knowing that we have two hours of free time, I filled the bathtub and soaked like a king, the water was perfectly warm and all the elements of a well- supplied bathroom was present. Yay! The hotel didn't serve breakfast so we have to meet at a nearby restaurant or order a special from their canteen. However, wine was readily available at their wine room? So, if you happen to visit Finland on a business or to do research, Hotel Scandic would be a perfect abode for a few nights. I assure you, the water is plenty, staff were absolutely Finnish-pectful and nice. Kiitos (Thank you in Finnish)!

Yelp
While I could not see any fault with the service received at Scandic Paasi, I just thought he entire hotel was charmless and cold: yes, they were trying to make it interesting by putting a playful theme/spin onto it, but to me that made it look more cheaply and boring. (I was face-timing with my other half in the evening and I gave a tour of my hotel room. His comment was: "Eew...this is worth team IKEA." It's an ok place and the price is also quite reasonable; the wifi is strong; the shower water heats up quickly; and the bed is comfortable. But that's already it...I have nothing else to add to it...boring.

Yelp
I stayed here few nights for business trip. +I literally fell in love with the style and atmosphere of this place . + the centrality of the hotel is quite nice, +they offer a restaurant /bar outside the hotel (around the block) which serves fantastic burgers and it has a finish atmosphere. + Staff are friendly and helpful + rooms are designed nicely and it has a little history in it. + the mini bar in the room carries few recipes for cocktails (with the ingredients provided in the mini bar) which I really liked. And apparently those cocktails are part of the hotel's history and culture. + and lastly the size of the room is impressive. -only there is no tea station in the room. Overall I enjoyed every second of my stay! totally recommended.

Yelp
This hotel opened very recently close to the Hakaniemi station. Normally perhaps not the area tourists venture to but the area has some nice cafes, bars and restaurants and the water close by adds charm. I stayed here two days after its opening so have tried to be understanding so will accept that mini-bar was not ready (late delivery) but some things here were just not good enough. Let's however start with the good things, the room was very spacious with two sofas, large bed, small kitchenette and a very nice sauna in the bathroom. Old style windows and high ceiling added to the nice parts of the room (sort of had the old school building feel to it). The hotel appears to have a circus or performer theme (room service menu was on a beach ball) but for me it did not really work. The room had a weird mix different styles and I would have preferred a more 'clean' feel. The lighting in the room was also a bit weird as it was not easy to figure out what turned on what. Otherwise the room had the things that can be expected (flat screen TV, water kettle, tea and coffee, iron (a very good one for once) and ironing board) and a few things that were better than expected (plenty of space to hang clothes, good soap and moisturizer, microwave owen, fridge). Otherwise the hotel also has a decent breakfast and new gym. By now most of you are probably wondering why only a 2 rating as it sounds pretty good. That is because the service is yet to be mentioned. It all started on check-in, long confusion on how to actually update my address details (for some reason they had the wrong one) and add my missing membership number. After a long time i just asked them if they could do it later while I was in the room. Upon getting to room opted for room service - very few options on the weird (beach ball) menu card and prices was ridiculous (€14-16 for wrap and burgers - the food was decent but wrap and burger were delivered in cardboard box with small bag of potato chips and room service fee was €12). Service was also very slow (around 45-60 min wait) on what appeared to be a slow night. After this the real complaints about the service begins, upon returning to the room the second day I was a bit surprised that it appeared as if they had not cleaned since the iron and ironing board were exactly where I left them, glasses with water still on the table, dirty cups on other table, curtains still closed, tea not refilled and decorative pillows still thrown in the chair. Did however notice that they changed the towels so understood that they were just bad at it. On my way out for dinner that evening I went down to reception and mentioned the things that were not done - they apologized and said that they would take care of it. Thought nothing more about it then but when returning from dinner I noticed that they had removed the cups (actually not cleaned them but removed 2 out of 4 cups from the room) and that was it - the rest was still not done. Informed them at reception again in the morning when I left the hotel and once again they promised to take care of it. When I came back later that day - same issue as before (only difference was that the cups that I had used the second evening were left dirty, had also had a bottle of wine and the empty bottle was left and the bin was not emptied). Complained again at reception and informed them that I was going out for a run and would be back in around 45 minutes and expected that they had taken care of everything by that time -to me surprise (not) they did of course not do a proper job. Cups were still left dirty, bottle was still there and tea still not refilled. Once again complained when going out for dinner but of course not handled any way, so service was really awful not even worthy of a 2 star hotel. Check-out of course led to more service problems - the room service bill had been doubled (they added everything twice) and had to point that out. They also missed to add my membership number (even though that was covered during check-in). I do hope that it is a passing service problem as the hotel otherwise is fairly nice but this was really disturbing - and the fact that they repeatedly apologized but never once offered any compensation.

Yelp
We were very happy with our stay here. For whatever reason, we ended up both with two €5 vouchers for each night. So I was able to choose some random candy/nuts as a snack every morning and still have plenty of vouchers for the restaurant hotel. Our room was kept clean. The breakfast buffet was fresh every morning and had lots of variety. The hotel is located half a block from most of the tram lines, so it is very easy to get anywhere. There are plenty of convenience stores, restaurants, and grocery stores within a couple blocks. There is also an open air market just across the street from the tram stop. The only aspect that we were not as happy with was the decor and room size. The decor was nothing especially Scandinavian, and was more fussy than I like. The room did have a full size tub, but not enough shelving/drawers for two people to put away clothing for a week. Reducing the size of the bench and using that space for some wardrobe shelving would have been a better use of space. It also would have been nice to have a fan, since even though the windows open there is not a whole lot of air flow. There is no air conditioning and I prefer 68F or less at night, so I struggled with the nighttime temperature even though the outside temperature was 55-65F. I do highly recommend that you stay here.

Yelp
Very nice hotel! Super friendly staff and funny themed rooms of good quality. The bar area is recommened place to start or end the evening. Very centrally placed and I can not recommend this hotel enough.
