Rooms are very slightly in need of a refresh, but still great - decent size, good amenities, and I had a room at the front overlooking the town hall square with a small balcony. Excellent staff. Recommend the breakfast - good quality and good choice of options. Would stay here again.

Google
Classic hotel in the middle of Copenhagen city center very easy to get to from the train station. They offer a nice breakfast included with your stay. They have a high-end restaurant/bar attached. One thing I don’t like are the groups of people that stand in the front smoking cigarettes because it fills the lobby with cigarette smoke. Otherwise, it’s overall a great location with shopping and wonderful restaurants all located within walking distance.

A very disappointing stay, far below the standards expected from an international hotel. I stayed at Scandic Palace Copenhagen and encountered several issues that were never resolved. Most importantly, housekeeping was not performed, despite submitting a request through the hotel’s own QR system. By the end of the day, nothing had been done, and I had to take clean towels from the corridor myself. A hotel of this category should never require a guest to do that. Several in-room amenities were also missing or non-functional: – the safe was unusable, – the minibar was completely empty, – no complimentary water or standard comforts were provided. Instead of addressing these concerns, management repeatedly justified everything by internal Scandic policies or “sustainability concepts,” which does not change the fact that essential services were not delivered. Breakfast quality was also disappointing: hard bread, unpleasant-smelling juice glasses, and equipment not functioning properly. This does not correspond to the image of a top-rated Scandinavian breakfast. What I found most concerning was the handling of my complaint. Rather than acknowledging the problems, management focused on denying responsibility and defending procedures. The tone was corporate and dismissive, with no willingness to offer a simple corrective action or gesture of goodwill. For travellers expecting reliability, comfort, and professionalism, this hotel did not meet those expectations. Not recommended.

About twice a year i fly to Copenhagen to go to concerts and every time i go there i stay at the Scandic Palace Hotel.||Initially i picked this hotel because of its location but after the first time staying there i have never really considered staying anywhere else.||The last time i stayed there they upgraded my room free of charge and i got a room with a view over Rådhuspladsen. The view when it got dark and the city lights went on was amazing.

I booked an economy room, which was a better size than expected. Had a kettle and a fridge which is great, and the location can't be beat. However, maybe because it's a cheaper room, there were some glaring quality issues. The toilet seat was cracked, which I didn't realize until I first used it. Which resulted in a sharp pinch and removal of some leg hair. I had to cover with toilet paper while I was there. Also, the shower head was almost completely blocked with calcium deposits, resulting in missing or crooked water streams. This is so ridiculous, it takes 5-10 minutes to fix with a scrubber or even a pin. I cleared multiple nozzles just with my thumbnail but this shows a real lack of care. Breakfast was meh, definitely not worth the money they charge for it. I wouldn't book this property again.

The customer Service in this Hotel was one of the most amazingly friendly me and my husband had encountered, everyone from the staff at the reception to the breakfast staff amazing!!!! The locations was peak super good close to everything walking distance the tivoli park literally in front the trains is minutes walk we love the locations The room that was the only downside the room size was very good but our room i think was close to a cinema because at the moment of sleeping We literally felt we were sleeping at the cinema we could hear all movies realy clear xD But with all that the staff was so cute sweet and amazing that me and my husband we will come back only for the amazing customer service:)

I took advantage of a reward night at the hotel. The hotel and room were otherwise lovely, but it seemed a bit poorly cleaned (barhroom, shower). The carpet was a bit stale. The service was friendly, the breakfast tasted really good.

Overall, my stay at your hotel was extremely disappointing and far below the standards I expected from a Scandic property. What I experienced was not a matter of personal preference, but a series of objective service failures that compromised the entire guest experience. From the lack of basic amenities and the poor quality of the breakfast, to housekeeping that was never performed despite proper requests, to an empty minibar, an inaccessible safe, and a television system offering only a minimal and non-international selection of channels, the hotel consistently failed to deliver even the essential elements of proper hospitality.||||Instead of comfort, efficiency, and professionalism, I encountered procedures that shifted responsibilities onto the guest, explanations that deflected rather than resolved issues, and operational choices that prioritize internal policies or ideology over guest satisfaction. This is simply not acceptable for a hotel of your category, and it does not reflect the Scandic brand as it once was known.

Yelp
It's September 2, 2024 and I'm packing shortly to return to New Jersey on this American Labor Day, having stayed at this Palace since August 24. First real vacation in over seven or eight years. What an incredible choice I made staying here. It's hard to distinguish my deep affection and unbridled love for Danes and Denmark from just how much I loved staying here. Well, actually maybe not. The same qualities I was raised to appreciate and strive to emulate infused every aspect of my stay. Promptness, pristine manners, lively cheeriness and on and on. No request or inquiry was ever met by any Scandi staff member with anything less than cheery efficiency. The hotel is spotless yet still bears the regal fingerprints of time - over 100 years standing through Wars and Covid, downturns of all kinds but again the pride of Danes - not arrogant but joyous pride, has proven to be this fine grand lady of an edifice's key to thrive-al. I walked every hall of this enormous architectural marvel one evening. Discretely tucked away in two hallways were black and white photos of moments of history here - of royalty from Hollywood to London, of greatness. Even Judy Garland stayed here for what became her last concert of her life. I worked and slept and ate and healed here these nine days away. I occasionally imagined May 4, 1945 down there in the Rådhuspladsen from my balcony, imaging my mother crazy with glee in seas of freed Danes dancing and singing and crying and being fully alive again after the German Wargrip was loosened forever and her friend Uffe climbed up in the Tower to Jerry rig the electric and explode their five years' darkness in the forever light of freedom. It's that same esprit d'Danmark that thrums from the townhall square night and day with music and giddy tourists and sun worshipping locals and it's not bothersome or distracting or disturbing to hear but it's instead, life affirming and a celebration of community. Proud of life. The Danes that run this fine hotel celebrate life and are alive with every cheerful staff greeting, with every dazzling ergonomic modernism (Ike the double sets of thick balcony doors which SILENCE the bells incredibly nicely but when one wants to bathe in the bells' sonorous sounds, one simply throws open the doors) and with every swift little green cleaning of the rooms. I outright reject the accuracy or fairness of the few minor grumbles I saw in other reviews. Unfair, unwarranted and utter nonsense. My one challenge was having to find a workspace during my stay. It stands to reason the Dane's work-life balance would have only modest work desks in their rooms but as luck would have it, a truly spacious and quiet conference table is on the fourth floor in the hall complete with electrical outlets! As I pack, I'll miss the nine balmy days of August unbroken sun, my nights of infant-deep sleep on this comfy bed, the incredible breakfasts, the room of a shower, my beloved Rådhuspladsen outside my 100 year old balcony and the great, great joy It has been staying here. May the hotel stand for another 100 years and may I return throughout!

Yelp
Can't beat the location. Across the plaza from Tivoli. Adjacent to the strøget pedestrian street with all the major shopping and canal tours. Can't beat the service and breakfast. We stay here every year and never disappointed. The train from the CPH airport drops you off in front of the Scandic! Rådhuspledsen train stop.

Yelp
There is a lot to like about this hotel. I first noticed its beautiful Art Nouveau architecture, as well as its incredible location. It is truly near everything in central Copenhagen, and nothing is too far. You are close to the City Hall square, the Stroget pedestrian shopping area, Tivoli amusement park, the National History Museum, cool restaurants and bars, etc. Also, the people working here are overall very kind and professional. The hotel is large and sprawling! You will get some good steps walking to your room! Speaking of rooms, ours was pretty large size-wise, and there was lots of room to spread out. The decor was old-school and perhaps could use a tiny bit of freshening up, but it wasn't quite dated. The bed was pretty comfortable and on the softer side, with great pillows. There was no Netflix/streaming option for the TV, at least any that worked with the instructions the TV gave us. Be forewarned that there are very few outlets! It is really annoying to not have outlets next to both sides of the bed, especially these days. Also, the outlet near my side of the bed stopped working around 10pm at night - this happened consistently. Why?? (I had to unplug the lamp to free up an outlet, which is kind of stupid.) The bathrooms are spacious and clean. I wish there was more counter space, but there's a shelf underneath the counter. The water pressure in the shower is catastrophically bad, some of the worst I have ever experienced. On top of that, the hair dryer is terrible, so your shower (to clean out the shampoo and/or conditioner) and hair drying process will take a lot of time. The hair dryer is maybe from the 1990s, at least model-wise, and you have to hold down the button the entire time, which is inconvenient and very unusual for these things. The breakfast buffet was great - a huge spread with tons of different items, for various tastes. I recommend it! It's kind of awkward that someone goes around to tell each table when it's about to close down, but oh well, maybe there were loiterers before. The lobby also has some snacks and drinks for purchase. This is a 3 star review but there is something that drags it down: RING! RING! RING! The location is so good overall, except that the hotel is right next to the city hall's bell tower. Our room was farther away compared to others, but you still could hear it crystal-clear. This bell rings every 15 minutes (why?) from 8am until midnight (also why?). What is this schedule? It is so awful. I love a charming bell tower clang, but this was so annoying. We couldn't sleep well because of it. It was a busy conference weekend, so there were basically no other centrally located options, except for maybe some at $400 plus. I wouldn't stay here again because of this, but your view might change if you can block out such loud noises. Even with the windows closed, though, it was LOUD. Maybe listen to some bell noises on YouTube to prepare?!?

Yelp
Great room location, and breakfast A/C struggles to keep room cool, and doesn't always win. Also, TV only has Dutch channels with no English subtitles.

Yelp
We stayed here for CPH Pride. AMAZING location that gave us some quiet time adjust the crowds but in a PERFECT location when we were ready to party again. Yea it was loud but per city ordinance everything stop partying at 11:45pm. So if you're cool with that, this is the spot for you. THE BREAKFAST ALONE WAS FIVE STARS! Incredible way to start your day. Our only gripe was the shower situation, the water pressure was not the best and difficult to navigate the set up.

Yelp
What an appropriate name for this hotel, it's prominently located in the city. I must have passed by it every day several times. It's palatial and regal looking from the outside. I would love to stay there my next visit to Copenhagen for sure. It's centrally located to many tourist stops, shops, cafes, restaurants, Nyhaven and wherever.

Yelp
This is a very nice Historic hotel in the heart of the City of Copenhagen. The hotel has charm and most of the exterior is maintained to keep its original appearance. The hotel sits between the town hall courtyard and shopping and fine dining. So there are tons of places to eat and things do. The Tivoli amusement park and museum is across the street as well as Hans Christian Anderson statues and other historical figures. Inside the hotel, it is fairly modern. It houses a nice, but cozy bar. Ample dining room, and gym in basement. If you are use to Marriott's or Hilton's, this hotel is a level or two below that, but still very nice. The rooms are modern but little dusty. Beautiful crown molding in rooms, but no one seems to clean them. The gym is small and he older equipment, but works. Overall, the place is nice and great for weekend getaways, tour trips, and work.

Yelp
Finding a decent hotel in Copenhagen seemed challenging in the summer and we ending up settling with the Scandic Palace Hotel which was $300 a night. The hotel is centrally located and close to major sites and shopping. It has modern feel and the rooms are updated. The room and bathroom are tiny but pretty normal by European standards. So small in fact that when you open the door of the hotel room, you can see the toilet paper in your line of sight from the bathroom. Toiletries are Face Stockholm and come in giant pumps. Oddly, they also had some other random shampoo/conditioner in bottles with a different brand as well. Note that if you require additional amenities such as a toothbrush, you must purchase it downstairs in their kiosk. The bathroom can only accommodate one person at a time (unless the other person is inside the bath tub). The shower is a hand held that can be mounted and adjusted. Note that it sprays everywhere so pretty much the toilet and the floor will be sprayed with water after a shower. The bed and pillows were comfy and the room was set for just the right temperature. You can hear the clock tower hourly but the sound was not as bad as we expected based on reviews. The hotel offers a free complimentary breakfast with a variety of cereals/granola, breads, cheese/cold cuts, bacon, eggs, pastries. It is a decent spread but be aware that this hotel appears to host a lot of tour groups. On a couple occasions the breakfast area/lobby was swarming with people which was a bit chaotic. There is a gym that has a decent amount of equipment on the 1st floor.

Yelp
Spent 1 night post-cruise in a superior plus room. The room was comfortably appointed with a king size bed and pull out sleeper sofa. There were several available electrical outlets by the king bed nightstand & at the desk/table by the TV. Room was well kept and clean. Room was also quiet throughout the day and night; no noise from neighboring rooms. Room had a small balcony that opened out onto the square. Wifi connection worked well in all areas of the room. Hotel location was excellent as it was in the heart of the city and there were many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Breakfast: excellent! Served buffet style with a variety of hot foods (eggs/meats) and cold foods (cheeses, fruits, pastries, breads, cereals, and yogurt). The coffee machine worked so well, I wish I could have taken it home. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful-arranged our fixed rate taxi back to the airport the following morning. Bellman was prompt to deliver our bags at check in.

Yelp
This is a fantastic hotel in the perfect location in Copenhagen! Tivoli is a block away. The main shopping areas are around the corner. It took us about 15 minutes to walk to the harbor area to catch a boat tour around the city. You can walk to numerous restaurants although I have to say the food at the hotel is great and they have great seating in front where you can watch people ride their bikes and walk past. (They have THE BEST French fries we have ever had!) The hotel staff are super friendly and helpful! We stayed here before and after a cruise and would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Copenhagen. The rooms are spacious and clean. The first night we stayed here, we had a room that the shower was separate from the bathroom. The second time we stayed here, our room had a bathtub/showers combination. I had hurt my knee while on the cruise so when we walked into our room, I discovered the bathtub/shower combo. (If you are unfamiliar with European tubs, they are extremely high to step into) We went to the front desk and they changed our room without any problem whatsoever. The free breakfast is your typical European breakfast which is a large buffet of all types of breakfast items - meats, cheeses, eggs, breads, cereals, yogurts, etc.

Allen B.

Yelp
This is an excellent hotel. The staff are very nice and caring. It is a very historic building. The staff does their best to keep you happy. The breakfast is excellent. The food was top notch. The building was very historical looking which was cool. My only thing with Covid is that you have to tell them to clean and vacuum the room.

Yelp
This hotel is pretty cool. it is not cheap, but that's how things are in Copenhagen. You are definitely going to want to upgrade your room. The ones on the top floor are the ones you want. Free breakfast is pretty damn good. They have an original elevator that is pretty cool also so don't get freaked out by it. Lastly, most of the spots you want to go to are walking distance. Otherwise go rent a bike like a local. FYI, the FOREX at the train station has the best exchange rate. Check out my pics!

Yelp
We had originally made a reservation from today (July 27th), but since we would arrive in Copenhagen (from an 18 hour travel) at 7am, and wouldn't want to wait until 3pm to check in, we decided to book an extra night (from July 26th to July 27th)... However, when we arrived to the hotel, we were told that they thought we wouldn't come (because we arrived Friday morning at 8am), so they gave the room away - and to make it worse, they wouldn't refund the charge either. That said, there is nothing in their terms stating when the latest you can arrive is - so if you arrive a little later than 3pm, you just have to hope that they didn't give the room to someone else.

Yelp
Absolutely the best location walking distance to everything. Great views, spacious rooms some with walk-in showers. Fantastic breakfast included with room rate. Have stayed here twice and staff was excellent both times.

Yelp
I had a swell 5-night stay here. Nice vintage hotel, not opulent but with nice features. Rooms have both vintage and modern features such as a rainfall shower in tub. Daily breakfast is super awesome with several meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, veggies, but I think that's what's expected in Copenhagen. Be aware that nearby city hall clock tower bell chimes fairly loudly until midnight.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
It's quirky, it's vintage and it's centrally located to many of the popular sites in Copenhagen. This 1909 classic hotel has been updated with new furnishings and interior decor. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet is a great way to start your day and the staff do a good job keeping it supplied during the busy morning rush. Plate glass windows overlook the city hall plaza from the dining room. Hotel rooms might be a bit smallish by American standards (depending on the type booked) but were comfortable if compact. There are two elevators servicing the hotel lobby: one "modern" and one "classic"...try a ride in the latter for a cheap thrill!

Yelp
My husband I stayed here for an extended weekend getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The primary reason we chose this hotel was for its awesome location. It is centrally located and a very short walk from the train station which is itself a short train ride away from the airport. You can rent a bike at one of the stands next to the hotel and use it to explore Copenhagen. I myself preferred to simply step out of the lobby and walk around and explore by foot. Check in was very easy. We used the very cool old timey elevator to make our way to our room on the fourth floor. Our room was a very comfortable corner room with very large windows that opened up to the courtyard and provided views of the clock tower. The room was itself large when compared to other hotel rooms we have stayed in in Europe. The bathroom was also roomy and comfortable. Another huge plus was the delicious continent breakfast that is included in your stay. Overall a very enjoyable stay. If we are even back in Copenhagen I would definitely stay here again.

Bin K.

Yelp
Nice hotel in a perfect location. Very easy to get to from the airport by train. Shopping around the block and Tivoli was nearby. Rooms were fairly big. They also have bicycles to loan out which is a big plus to get around the city.

Beth R.

Yelp
Perfect location within walking distance of most everything. Amazed with our room - more like a nice studio apartment with all of the comforts we needed. Helpful staff - enjoyed cocktails in the lounge/restaurant. Only concern was lack of hot water one morning.

Michelle W.

Yelp
My husband and I didn't stay at this hotel but they're great anyway. We were on a cruise and we're not sure how to get back to our ship. We went into the lobby and the staff at the front desk graciously allowed us to use their restroom and then called us a cab. We were 2 tired, hot travelers and they couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. So if they treat non- guests this way they must be wonderful to their guests!

Yelp
Scandic is the hotel chain my company allows so I have had my fair share of experiences with the guys. This one in particular is very good. Fully renovated, with super nice bathrooms, always very comfy beds, quite a few TV channels. It has an amazing buffet for breakfast which is always included. The service is very good and the prices are very decent. The location can't be better for Copenhagen you are right in the center and they manage to have silence in the rooms all in all a great hotel to stay at wether for business or for pleasure they are also good for families by the way.

Yelp
Love this place for its location, vive and rooms but the reason I go back is for the breakfast
google avatar

E G.

Yelp
Hotels in Copenhagen are extremely expensive and the Scandic Palace is no exception. We chose this hotel for its location. It shares a square with the city hall and is right around the corner from the start of the Stroget shopping street. The Tivoli Garden is a short walk across the city hall square. Location was 5/5 and one of the best features of the hotel. The front desk staff was also very friendly and helpful. They let us store our bags, check in early, and helped us find some cool places in Copenhagen. Staff was also a 5/5. The real problems at the Scandic are the price, the noise, and the lack of air conditioning. A lot of reviews here complain about the noise the bells make throughout the night. At some point the bells stop, but the noise from people shouting in the square didn't stop until around 3am each night. If you are visiting in a month where air conditioning isn't needed you'll be fine, but in the summer the AC does nothing, so you'll want to sleep with the window open. You basically have to choose between sweating all night or hearing noises all night. We even heard a 3am yodeler.

GP R.

Yelp
Scandic chain, but a very unique property. Service is good. Rooms are clean and well appointed. The building is old, but the bathrooms are quite modern. Highly recommended for location, quality and charm.
