Scandic The Mayor

Hi, It is an old hotel that has been taken over by Scandic. But, unfortunately - the beautiful lobby and restaurant upgrade are not enough of a makeover when it comes to the entire hotel. The room I stayed in was quite small - bathroom even smaller. No space to put your luggage - no luggage rack. Old carpets. There was remnant of some smoke smells (I dont know if this was due to some prior guests or just smells that have been absorbed in the carpets). The smoke smell is not strong - more like a hint - but it is there! so if you have a sensitive nose - be aware!. If you can stay at the Scandic city about 150m away from this hotel. A way better property (and one star extra too which shows)! I am a frequent Scandic hotel visitor - but this one unfortunately disappointed. Staff were great and smiling and helpful! Price to Value ratio was OK also - which is why I give it a half rating and rate it ok for an overnight stay! Location is of course very convenient to the central train station.

Had a booking for one night over New Years. We had chosen a standard room and also added breakfast. The room was just fine. Pleasant lighting, comfortable beds and no noticeable noice from surrounding rooms or outside. The staff were very smiling and made it a lovely, though short, stay. ||The breakfastbuffet was also very lovely - as someone who tries to avoid too much gluten it was nice to see a gluten-free option already set up, so you didn’t have to ask for it in advance or ask the staff - it also wasn’t a “boring” gluten-free selection. Other than that there was a fine selection of bread and pastries, yoghurts, fruit, spreads and sweet treats. And it looked like many enjoyed the waffle-station. ||So we very much enjoyed our stay and would book again if another stay in Aarhus is necessary.

The rooms could use a touch up. The make-up mirror was broken, the floortiles in the shower was cracked, and if you decide to use the shower, all of the floor will be full of water. Otherwise the experience was fine, everything was clean, and the service was good. I love the location, because it just in the city center everything is close. Breakfast had everything you asked for.

I was staying in Aarhus for work. The Scandic The Mayor was convenient for location, right in the city centre and close to the train station, shops and restaurants. My room was spacious, comfy and clean. The breakfast buffet had lots of choice and great healthy choices to choose from. I loved the fresh blueberries every morning.

What a great hotel, it has got better since my stay in 2024. Although progress is not always good, they removed the restaurant, so you cannot get an evening meal, luckily the hotel is near the city centre. The new rooms are good and the staff are brilliant. Breakfast is not the best experience, probably due to no restaurant.

Nice staff, but the standard rooms are just not worth it! It’s like they try to get you to pay for upgrade.. 8/8 of us upgraded because of to little space, smelly room and a feeling of poor hygiene. also expensive machine coffee in resepsjon.. so unless you choose to upgrade your room, i wouldn’t recommend it sorry..

I had made a mistake and was trying to book a hotel room for Dec 5, friday but the site went to Dec 2 and I paid 2500 dkk for a non refundable hotel room that was not on the right day. I phoned the hotel, it was past 21h and they said they cannot help me but to call the main office the next day. I called the main office the next day in Sweden and they said they cannot help me and I should contact the hotel. I asked to speak to the manager who made the decision to refund my money which appeared in my account the next day, I am a scandic member and appreciate they doing this for me. I like staying in their hotels and now I like this as well. Thank you

Newly renovated, but they must have forgot to revamp the rooms. I stayed in room 204, which was not only tiny but also looked like the interior was not refurbished since the 90s. A shame that they only invested in renovating what gets noticed from outside and when entering the hotel, but totally forgot about the rooms.
