From what I've seen and heard, your experience here is highly dependent on 2 things: when you come and if you have a spa massage or treatment booked.
Luckily, I had booked a 4 pm massage in advance for my Saturday in July visit. It's easy to get to the spa from whistler, but can be hard to find a parking spot. Be prepared to wait for a spot or have to go to the overflow lot. Once inside is where the experience begins to differ. If you have a massage booked, as I did, you check in, pay for your services, get your complimentary robe, towels, and locker key and are able to immediately proceed to the locker room and baths - regardless of when your spa service is. If you don't have a massage (or other service) booked, you may or may not have to wait to enter the facilities. We arrived at about 2:30 pm and the wait was approximately 45 minutes, but we were able to skip the line with our reservation (note: I do not believe they take reservations for going to just the baths, their website says "no reservations required").
The locker rooms are utilitarian and get the job done but do not feel like a spa and are not luxurious in the slightest. They remind me of a nicer public high school locker room.
Entering the spa is a nice northwest oasis with big trees, nice flowers, and cabin inspired design. I really enjoyed the Scandinave experience of hot to cold. The eucalyptus steam room, Finnish wood burning sauna, and polar waterfall were my favorites. The spa was not over crowded and my boyfriend and I often had a section of the hot tub to ourselves. When it was time for my massage, I headed to the building and was promptly given a wonderful rejuvenating massage leaving me feeling very relaxed.
Overall, would highly recommend the spa with the massage - it's a fantastic experience. However, the price for just the baths seems a bit steep and overpriced for the experience you receive.
Now if you're still reading, you know I arrived around 2:30 pm but some family went earlier in the day around 11:30 am for just the baths and had a totally different experience. They had crowds, $13 robe fee, lines for the features, several injured people, and it was very loud - not a relaxing visit at all and they left within an hour of arriving. So you've been warned, pick and choose when and what you do here wisely.
If you decide to go, stop by a Canada Costco to get the WaySpa gift cards, you pay $75 for $100.
