Scapegoat Eatery

Was on my way to Missoula on highway #200 and decided to make the morning stop for early lunch at the Scapegoat Eatery. Was a bit confused at first since I thought I was dining at the Wilderness Bar & Casino. The direct entry door is on the east end and has an obscure bronze sign attached to the edge of the roof. After entering the dining area it's obvious that the Bar & Casino are part of the business. The dining area was very small consisting of 3 tables and a large booth. The server/cashier was very friendly & efficient. Ordered deep fried mushrooms & the Scapegoat Burger 🍔 Food was obviously not gourmet because this as a tiny, mountain town diner that seats 15 to 20 people max. I enjoyed every bite and the ingredients for everything including the side salad 🥗 were very fresh..... I will definitely stop here again, hopefully for breakfast next time... Bottom Line: 8.5 out of 10

Open on a Monday morning in early spring which was very nice. Lots of seating inside at the bar and also booths and tables. Modern gambling machines inside as well. Staff was very friendly, and accommodating. I ordered the country fried steak, and it was one of the best cfs breakfasts I’ve ever had at a bar. The steak is cut VERY thick, and not oily from being over-battered. The gravy on top was excellent as well. Seasoned and flavorful, not thin and watery. They forgot my toast, but that’s alright since there was plenty enough food as is. I will definitely come back if I’m ever in the area.

Nice little restaurant on the road to Yellowstone. Kids menu and good cheeseburger.

Josie is awesome with the pizza, not sure who cooks the burgers but had them a few times and generally raw, not rare, raw. I'd recommend the pizza anytime Josie is in though!!

The food here is amazing along with the staff. We have been here a couple of times and it is great every time. Pork chop sandwiches are huge and not a bad price.

Delicious hefty portions, atmosphere makes you feel at home. Best Rueben and country fried steak we’ve had in a long time.

Small, quaint lil place that makes you feel right at home. Friendly staff. Food was good- we ordered the chicken salad sandwich, breaded chicken burger, and the beef burgers. Big portion sizes for a decent price. Designated pit stop for those long road trips!

Tiny little place. Total of 4 tables. We sat at a dirty table and got the first 7 minutes we didn't even know if there was a server. She finally came out from the bank and cleaned the table next to us. I had to call her over to wipe our table. She wiped and left. 3 minutes later, she came back and said "what are you drinking?" No hello, no intro. We told her what we wanted to drink and she took off, I stopped her and said we were ready to order too. She wrote down our order and ran off again without a word. Dropped the drinks without any silverware or sweet n low my husband needed for his tea. Here we sit another 15 minutes waiting for a refill. Food came, BEST CHICKEN STRIPS EVER! The hot Italian was good too. Drinks were refilled as well. This is a busy little place in a Sunday afternoon. There is a cook in the back, I'm pretty sure the server is cooking as well. Huge portions for the strips. We will definitely return and hope for a better day for the server.

Came in and ordered pizzas that were really good, and the man and woman in the back cooking were super friendly. The bartender was pretty rude and looked genuinely annoyed when you'd order a drink.

Good food, huge portions. Standard Montana burger and bar food menu but usually a daily special and daily soup choice at a food price. Worth a stop in your way through town!

We had high expectations with a recommendation from locals. It took 20 minutes to be greeted after we sat. The bar tender stopped by our table asked what we wanted to drink and we just needed water. He grumbled out loud about our choice. We suspect this single choice put us in a low priority queue for our entire visit. Several minutes later they took our order. Two bacon cheeseburgers and tots. It was busy but not packed. It was truly over a 1 hour wait from ordering until our food was delivered. The burgers were over cooked. The tots were ok but not great. The burger bun was fresh as were the vegetables for the burgers. They never brought the ranch dressing my wife ordered to dip tots in. They never checked on us one time. For refills I had to take cups to the bar for more water. They never brought our check. We knew the prices of what we ordered but not the sales tax so we left enough to cover cost plus 10% to cover any taxes. First time I can remember not wanting to leave a penny more than we owed or any form of tip but we may have been trapped there forever if we did not just leave some cash and get out. Other reviews are positive and our local friends have good things to say about them. So maybe our experience was an anomaly. Personally I would never return.

Our go to weekend breakfast stop. Dawn makes the best pancakes ever; and Patty takes your orders with a smile.

While driving through the mountains, enjoying the view, my brain started thinking about fried chicken. Don't ask, I'm weird. I should be thinking of elk sausage or a bison burger, not southern fried chicken. Tummy started to growl and we pulled into Lincoln and chose this place cause of the name. And guess what?? They have really really good fried chicken. Cooked to perfection with tasty crispy coating. A breast, thigh, wing and drum with different but yummy beans (think refried chili beans), a whole fried potato cut in wedges and a biscuit for under 10 bucks! Pizza was decent. Convo was fun. Yes, I am a happy camper!

Yum yum yum... can't say enough about this small local place. The Pizzas are to die for! And the salads are hearty. But the best is the ranch dressing ... hands down... the staff is so friendly. You must try this place.

Amazing pizza! We got the veggie pizza. It was so flavorful, the crust was perfect! The server was really friendly. It was a great lunch break on our road trip!

My family stopped by this restaurant on the way back home and we all got food poisoning. The food looked promising but it seems they don't employ the highest standards when it come to cleanliness and keeping food after it spoils. Be wary

So, imaging you are not in New York or San Francisco, and you are riding the Great Divide, and you've been thinking for days about a slice of pizza. And you come into Lincoln tired and hungry, and there are 8 of you, including 6 kids. And you want a pizza, and no regrets. Scapegoat Eatery is your place. One person behind the counter, asking what size pizza you might want, so she can get the dough going. The dough going. You sit down to hand made wooden tables, and you wait, because your pizza is made by hand, one by one. Two 18 inch pizzas were enough for the 8 of us, and we were hungry. The supreme covered all the bases, and the kids ate the half pepperoni/half Hawaiian before I could get to it. Dinner for 8, including drinks, for less than 50 bucks. Good honest food for honest money. I love Montana, in part because of places like Scapegoat Eatery.

Super cheap, and really good. This is a great find in a small town. Burger was huge, the cook/waitress was friendly, and the beer was wicked cheap. We got a 16oz micro brew from Missoula for $3.50.
