I lived “just up the lane” from this wonderful business for more than 20 years and whenever I was building anything, doing bits of handiwork around the house or tending to our pool it was literally a 2-3 minute walk if and when I needed anything, which was always in stock.
I moved approx 3km away 5 years ago and now live a 5 minute walk from Bunnings, nonetheless, rather than walk to the conglomerate that try as they do to be “friendly to the locals”, I either drive, ride my motorcycle or my e-trike up the hill to Scarboro Hardware.
Just one little anecdote to describe how much I relied on and will miss them when they close.
One time after hitting a roo and knocking the headlight and it’s fixtures off my motorcycle whilst down south on holiday, unsure of how to fix it all back on, I called in to ask Jarrad how to go about it.
Without a thought, he got some, nuts, bolts and screws together and fixed it for me in a matter of minutes.
Alas, it’s terribly sad state of affairs when locals businesses have to close due to rezoning and the attraction of the big dollars from developers.
