On the Grid : Scarlet Corner

"Whilst most Melburnians will understandably associate memories of visiting Footscray with buying hot jam doughnuts from just down the road, we feel the ritualistic morning social gathering of locals at Scarlet Corner is a tradition of similar importance. Scarlet Corner brew fresh Vietnamese iced coffee throughout the day, even when most cafés decide it’s probably not the best idea to receive a booster after 3pm. Vietnamese iced coffee to the uninitiated is deep-roasted black coffee mixed with impossibly-sweet condensed milk, served over a mountain of ice. For those who refrain from drinking dairy, they will happily swap out the condensed milk for soy (a general no-no at other cafés.) Grab a pack of ‘sunflower snacks’ to go, and we’ll see you back here at 9am tomorrow. Photography by Gianna Rizzo." - Susu Studio

Scarlet Corner is the kind of hidden gem you don’t gatekeep 💎✨ 📍 @scarlet.corner.footscray Nestled in the heart of Footscray, this cozy little spot is quietly serving some of the best drinks in Melbourne — and once you try it, there’s no going back. From vibrant fruit teas to ultra-creamy milk teas, every sip is a perfectly balanced blend of flavour, freshness, and comfort. It’s not just a drink, it’s an experience. The kind that makes you pause, take a second sip, and immediately plan your next visit. Whether you’re catching up with friends or just craving a pick-me-up, Scarlet Corner delivers every single time. Melbourne’s full of cool cafés, but this one? It’s a true hidden gem — no overhype, just really good drinks, made with care. Come for the vibes, stay for the taste. This is your sign to check it out. ⏰ Drinks worth the detour: • Avocado coconut coffee • Vietnamese Creme brûlée coffee • Pistachio roasted milk tea • Mont Blanc either original • Matcha dalgona latte 🐼 = #pinayfoodierecommends #pinayfoodie #melbournefoodie #ScarletCorner #HiddenGemMelbourne #FootscrayEats #MelbourneBubbleTea #DrinkLocal #FYPmelbourne #TikTokCafe #SipSipHooray #MelbourneFoodie #SupportSmallBusiness #TeaTimeDoneRight #CafeHuntMelbourne

A little buzz in Footscray, I only dabbled with a regular flat white, no sugar no fancy milk. The flatty had a smooth & consistent flavour with no afterburner. It wasn't overly rich, nor bitter, while not providing and hiding flavours or hints of nut or chocolate it's was just rather a regular but trusted flat white. Best of all was the service, Fast & Friendly.

Thank you so much. I dropped my coffee when I tried to stick the straw for it, but The stuff immediately made me new coffee. I appreciate it. Cảm ơn.

Whenever we are in Footscray, we will come here for the ice viet coffee. The quality and the taste of the coffee are quite consistent most of the time. They are quite strong which we like but maybe not the cup of tea for others. $8 for a large one. Quite busy all the time. Expect to wait or queue for your orders. Service can be better though.

Best Vietnamese iced coffee, really brings me back to the cafes and coffee carts all over the streets of Saigon. You’ll find all the Vietnamese cà phê sữa đá delicacies at good value including: - Coconut iced coffee (4/5): more coconut flavoured then creamy like the one in Vietnam, but is still a great refreshing drink with a good balance of sweetness and bitterness - Salt coffee (4.25/5): salt cream on top is more like whipped cream with salt, but the combination is to die for I was addicted - Creme brûlée Vietnamese coffee (4.5/5): my favourite out of the other 3, creme brulee is like your egg coffee with that perfect thin torched layer - you’d think it’s sugar overload but it is so well balanced Waiting for them to release their egg coffee (cà phê trứng) because I already know it’s going to be the perfect treat on any occasion or weather - take me back to Vietnam! Sweet and enthusiastic owners who are quick and accomodating to your orders. Glad to see them always creating new menu options in this neglected market area and reigniting the light of Footscray. Taste: 4.5/5 Value: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 5/5 IG @delishdump

Love this spot—such authentic Vietnamese tea! The flavors are rich and traditional. I definitely recommend the crème brûlée drink—it’s super smooth and just the right amount of sweet. A cozy little gem if you’re into real Vietnamese-style tea.

Best Vietnamese coffee in Melbourne! Service is quick with a friendly smile and their coffee is to die for. I had the coconut avocado with a shot of coffee and it was so smooth and creamy…I still dream about it. I love how each coffee is individually dripped with a phin filter like how it’s traditionally done in Vietnam. Hidden gem for sure.
