We stayed at the Treasure Island Resort Hotel for two nights and three days. On our second day, we visited the charming town of Red Wing. I had researched a place where we could enjoy lunch overlooking the Mississippi River, and we decided to drop by without a reservation. To our delight, we were promptly seated at a window table (we opted to sit indoors as it was quite hot outside). Thanks to our friendly server Beverly, she recommended the delicious Caprese sandwich, which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the wild rice soup and the poke bowl. The wild rice soup is definitely one I would recommend among the ones I have tried. The poke bowl, with its spicy and tangy sauce combined with fresh quinoa and vegetables, was very fresh and satisfying. The cold brew coffee was also excellent. If I return to Red Wing, I will certainly come back here just for these dishes. The interior was clean and comfortable, which we appreciated. However, I rated the atmosphere four out of five stars because three persistent flies kept entering from the terrace and trying to land on our food throughout the meal. It was a bit distracting having to shoo them away repeatedly. I suppose even the flies have heard how exceptional the food is here! 😅

Wonderful restaurant. We had lunch here on the first day of spring on March 20, 2025. The pot roast was said to have been cooked for 16 hours was delicious, seemingly worth every minute of the 16 hours. The bourbon pecan pie was the best ever. The coffee was excellent. All in all a great lunch. Service was good.

Super cool spot in a beautiful historic hotel. The restaurant was busy on a Friday evening, definitely recommend having a reservation or calling in advance to check the wait time. We put our names in and got a table about 1.5 hours later, which was totally fine for us! The food was delicious, and our server Patrick was fantastic and so friendly. :) highly recommend this spot for dinner (and I've heard they have incredible brunch too!). We loved the cheese curds and brussel sprouts appetizers!

What could be better than a girl’s day out?! Nothing! And lunchtime on a Friday led us to visit Scarlet Kitchen & Bar. It was quite busy when we arrived (the patio was hopping) but we were seated inside near the windows. It was very bright and airy inside. Beverly was our server and she was the absolute sweetest! She was as attentive as possible with the busyness of the restaurant and gave us great recommendations. I started with a mango margarita and my friend had the blackberry margarita. Both of the drinks were yummy and refreshing. We then ordered the crab rangoon dip and the BLTA with fries to share. This is where I marked down stars in my review for service— the food took over 45 minutes to come out!! It was a good thing we were there for a leisurely lunch because that is a long time to wait for food. The food itself was all very tasty— the crab dip was hot and it worked well with the fried naan bread it was served with. The BLTA was balanced and the jalapeño bacon gave it a nice kick. The multi-grain bread it was served on held up well to the sandwich. The French fries were also perfectly hot and crispy. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Scarlet and would return— the fantastic flavors in the food made up for the lack of speed from the kitchen.

Google
Excellent food and service! We were impressed by the size of portions and quality of food, especially for kids - a lot of restaurants skimp on that. My husband got Thai mahi-mahi and I had salmon and both did not disappoint. With drinks, appetizers, and main juice, we both spent around $35 per person. Kids meals included sides and beverage and were very affordable, too.

Google
Best restaurant in Red Wing. One of the best in the nation. The service is on point. The kitchen staff is excellent. Everything on the menu is wonderful and flavorful. Indooor, outdoor and bar seating available. If you sit at the bar, Jenna is a top tier bartender!

Great place to catch well done meals in a beautiful ambience! The crab cakes and the Mongolian beef was perfect! The martinis are great as well🥂

Walked in and sat myself at the bar for Brunch. I guess I should have waited for the hostess to get a menu and silverware for me. It turns out it was the manager who was behind the bar when I sat myself, but he never acknowledged or said anything while I was waiting. No one ever made any eye contact with me even when taking my order. The hostess just threw my silverware on the bar without saying anything. The staff I encountered was all extremely rude, and didn't even acknowledge me. There were plenty of other servers who were all smiling and seemed friendly, but I must have encountered the worst of the bunch. The bartender ended up dropping the check in front of me before I was even halfway finished with my food and cocktail. After seeing my perplexed look, she asked if I was going to order more. Well of course I wasn't going to order more after that treatment so I said to leave the check. She then took my napkin away while I was still eating! Next she physically took my food away before asking if I was finished. I told her straight to her face that I wasn't going to stay there if she was going to be so rude, and that comment didn't even trigger any response. Absolutely horrible service. I could see both couples on either side of me were put off by their treatment as well. Food was excellent though! No complaints there. Maybe just don't sit at the bar.

Yelp
"As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again." (Scarlett O'hara) Don your best green-velvet curtain dress and pack a healthy appetite that Ashley Wilkes would approve of when visiting the Scarlet Kitchen. Fiddle-dee-dee! You'll never be hungry again after eating here as the portions are huge, and the desserts will call your name if there's an ounce of space left in your stomach. Located inside the historic St. James Hotel, this restaurant is a beautiful upgrade from the old Veranda. The casual classy ambiance is perfect for a business lunch, a gal pal brunch date, organizing a Tokyo prison break with Bill Murray, or enjoying patio views of the riverfront with Colin Jost. The globally-inspired menu changes periodically, is sourced with local ingredients, and includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. My favorite dish on the current menu is the Curry Mahi-Mahi. It is moist, flaky, flavorful, and mildly spicy, paired beautifully with a ginger rice. The Mongolian Beef in Green Curry is also wonderful, with a spicy kick that Genghis himself would be proud of! Overall, the Scarlet Kitchen is a great place to dine no matter the occasion. But as Mammy said to Scarlett, "Now don't eat too fast. Ain't no need a having for it come right back up again!"

Yelp
Been here a few times with my dad and friends (brunch). Love the food and the river view! The outdoor patio is top notch if it's good weather. The service is friendly and always prompt! Make a reservation if you plan on visiting during a week night or weekend. All the food has been large portions and fairly priced for the quality. The only thing I would say is annoying is that the restaurant is hard to find.

Yelp
On a cold and rainy day, I needed warmth and relaxation. Got it with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and a nice visit with the bartender!

Esquites & Asada * 17 Meat is tough but the flavor is nice. The whole salad combination works well. Strawberry Hibiscus Spritz * 11 Refreshing cocktail - would order again Service is good and friendly Ambiance is perfect outdoor setting.

Yelp
The two salads we ordered were slow in coming and we were offered two different ones midway through our wait, Our waitress was blissfully unaware that her server had made the mistake. Passing trains damped conversation

Yelp
As I arrived at the Saint James Hotel I found my way going up some stairs from the parking garage and ended up at Scarlet. The outdoor area is beautiful as it overlooks the river and train depot. I made my way to the bar and was taken care of first by Elliot who was a fabulous bartender making sure my cut never ran dry. I later arrived and the hostess Aubree was fantastic. After a long day, it was great to have someone lighten the mood. She assisted me and made my time at Scarlet memorable. Gabby the bartender was fantastic later that evening she went over the menu and recommendations and I was in the mood for local wine. So she assisted me in picking something enjoyable. Kate who was also behind the bar from time to time made the evening enjoyable with her kindness and knowledge. I had a fabulous evening at Scarlet thanks to all the amazing staff. The next day I stopped for breakfast and Kelsey was my server. I ordered the benedict and and glass of orange juice and a Prosecco. The serving size was very large and I could only eat half. The service was prompt and courteous. There is ample parking in the lot as well as street parking. Note. They dont serve alcohol till 8am so no mimosas till 8am.

Yelp
Beautiful patio nestled right in downtown Red Wing! The menu had a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches and bowls. The Spring Roll Salad was refreshing and flavorful. Our waitress Mahli was very attentive and kind.

Yelp
Scarlet Kitchen & Bar is located in the St. James Hotel in downtown Red Wing. There is some street parking, but as this was a sub-zero January night with snow on the ground, we drove into the attached parking garage. It is not a straightforward parking garage but labyrinthine, requiring low speeds and care; judging by the scrapes on the ceiling, more people should pay attention to their vehicle height, too! We found a spot and had a very short, cold walk to an elevator. Scarlet Kitchen is on the first floor. My husband arranged this dinner date for the two of us on my birthday. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, making a point of saying "happy birthday." Our server was Anna. She took great care of us the whole time. We ordered some drinks and the cheese curds to start. These curds were fantastic with a perfect hot squeak. The Sturdiwheat batter was delicious. The housemade cranberry dip was a nice change from what other restaurants serve with curds. My husband ordered the steak and fries. I snagged one of his fries--wow, was it good! Strip isn't my husband's favorite cut, but the meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned for his preference. I ordered the salmon, which was served on pearl barley with vegetables. Everything was delicious--a meal that felt indulgent yet healthy at the same time. Because it was my birthday, the dessert was included for free. I had my choice of the chocolate cake, creme brulee, and hummingbird cake, and I went for the chocolate. While we were waiting for that, my husband requested a whisky listed in the menu, but he was soon informed that they were out. So, the cake. Let me tell you, as a passionate home baker, this thing was GOOD. I could tell it was made fresh in-house. The chocolate and cherries were vibrant. Great frosting. Sweet but not overkill. Seriously, people should go here just for cake. Just as I was reaching for my coat, our server Anna returned. The whisky had been found to be in stock after all, and she offered us a serving on the house. Wow. We sat and enjoyed that before braving the cold. This ended up being the perfect birthday dinner. Excellent food and outright stellar customer service. We'll happily dine at Scarlet again.

Yelp
My wife and I were in Red Wing last week and we thought we would try dinner at the St. James Hotel. Our meals were outstanding, and our waiter , Patrick, was friendly and knowledgeable. I had the steak and fries, and my wife had a grilled salmon on a salad. Both, again , were outstanding. I rarely leave reviews, but my wife and I both agreed to follow up, and leave this review. Recommended highly.

Yelp
Love scarlet kitchen bar! The deck patio has great views and they also had live music playing. The meatballs were fantastic filled with flavor with the perfect amount of sauce paired with medley potatoes, mmm perfection. The Mongolian beef was unique with curry noodles, we also asked for hot pepper to top our dish which made it even better. The burgers were huge, packed with flavor with the most crispy and delicious battered fries, we really enjoyed each dish here at scarlet it did not disappoint.

Yelp
Were with some friends that wanted to check out the St. James Hotel and we were feeling like an afternoon pick-me-up so we wandered into Scarlet. We were all intrigued by the mimosa list. I ended up having the watermelon one (called Worx). We were all also a little hungry and got cups of the wild rice soup, which was fabulous. The only real disappointment was the amount of time it took to get our bill and pay. We had been done with drinks and food (and had indicated this to the server) for about 20 minutes before we could actually settle up and leave. Lots of good looking stuff on the menu, so if I'm in the area again, will definitely stop in again!

Yelp
Called to make a reservation for later this morning for my family... someone answered the phone and told me to wait so I did, then a different lady came on the phone and had a really rude attitude from the start. I explained how many adults and kids and she was so nasty to me and disrespectful. She said she can't accommodate at one table with kids so I asked for two tables and she again was rude, sighed and said she would not split us up. I asked what time was the next available for us to be accommodated and she refused to give me a time. I was trying to problem solve and this lady was not trying to help whatsoever she'd rather lose a returning customer. What a nasty way to speak to people. I will not be back after this experience.

Yelp
Beautifully decorated for the holidays, Scarlet Kitchen and Bar was warm and welcoming. We had reservations and I'm glad we did because it was hopping on a Wednesday night. We were there before a Sheldon Theatre show so I suspect that could have been a reason for a busy crowd. I chose a glass of Malbec wine and the salmon for my entree. Husband had a cup of wild rice soup and the shepard's pie. I loved my meal. The salmon had a slightly charred outer layer but was perfectly cooked inside. It was served with pilaf mixed with veggies. It was light and very tasty. Husband loved the wild rice soup. He gets this often in restaurants so he knows a good one when he tastes it. He thought the Shepard's pie was good but would have liked it better if the lamb was more chunkier in the dish and not just part of the stew. Service was good. The entire staff was helping each other out because it was so busy. I want to come back in the daylight and check out the beautiful river views.

Yelp
Tucked away in small town MN, this was a good find! Drove about an hour based on recommendations, and we were not disappointed with the food. Got the biscuits and gravy and berry toast and it was good! The jalapeño cheddar biscuits were my favorite part of the meal. Giving 3 stars for some fairly interesting differences in the service we received.

Yelp
For a slice of upscale ambiance in a cozy masonry decorated town. Look no further than the cool appetizer of dragon Rangoon Dip followed by a steak and cojita laced fries. Service has been really friendly, all 3 visits.

Yelp
Excellent food, atmosphere and staff. Have been in Red Wing for a week and have dined here 3 times- never disappointed.

Sasha L.

Yelp
Good luck getting any service! Walked in, around 1pm on a Tuesday for lunch. We were seated, and waited about 10 mins at the table. No water, no menus were given, so we walked out. Place was not crowded, there were enough staff.

Yelp
*This review is only for the 1 round of drinks we had on the rooftop bar* While hiking at Barn's Bluff we saw, while at the top, a very cool rooftop bar. We decided that upon our decent we would grab a drink before our dinner reservations. It was a beautiful spring afternoon, just warm enough to have a drink outside. We ordered the Summit Pilsner and the ale from Comstock, MI. Both were refreshing. You can see the river standing at the far end of this rooftop bar. Sri was our server and she was great-- quick and friendly. They were playing good music in the background. We could have stayed much longer.

Yelp
Wow! This place was phenomenal. We were in town for work, and made a reservation here. They had a table ready when we got there and had us served pretty quick - great wine and beer options and phenomenal drinks. The food menu was bomb, really cool unique dishes. We started with the spinach artichoke dip which was to die for, the naan pieces were delicious and buttery. Their brussel sprouts pack a ton of flavor. I was between the Mediterranean bowl and the shepherds pie, and went with the latter - it was a great take on the dish. I'm obsessed with polenta, and they made it perfect and crispy on the outside with a delicious, soft center. It was packed full of veggies too. I will absolutely be back when I'm in town. It was an amazing meal with awesome service. Highly recommend.

Yelp
What a beautiful meal! We stopped in for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Our server was so kind and attentive, the food was amazing, and the chocolate cake just made the whole meal! Definitely recommend the salmon cakes appetizer and steak and fries. My husband loved the pot roast sandwich as well. Plus the ambience was elegant and classy. Beautiful views of the river as well.

Yelp
Pleasant restaurant - bright, view of the water and pretty ambiance. Had a lunch meeting here. My colleague had the Jimmy's Smash Burger and she loved it (fries - nothing special). I had the pot roast sandwich - was dry however after having horseradish and ketchup delivered to the table - it helped. Chips were yummy. Will go back.

Kate S.

Yelp
The chicken wild rice soup had a good flavor although I only had 1 piece of chicken. Definitely could have used more wait staff.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant deserves way more high ratings. Not only is it a hidden gem in Red Wing their salads and fries are by far some of the best I have had after dining at numerous restaurants in Minneapolis that are acclaimed. The Cajun shrimp salad was absolutely scrumptious and all the ingredients are so fresh! Not to mention the ambience is great as the restaurant is situated on a rooftop overlooking the park and water in Red Wing. Service is friendly and attentive! We stayed at the St. James hotel and that is why we dined here but I would go to even if you're not a hotel guest!
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner and were able to call ahead of time day of to make a reservation for two. We came and were seated right away. All staff was really helpful and our server, in specific, went above and beyond of making our experience wonderful. She gave us really good recommendations for the entree options, and was always checking in regardless of being in charge of many tables. Our food was delicious. We had the charcuterie board, two specials, and the chocolate cheese cake to finish. All of our food came perfectly prepared and over the top (in the best way) in presentation. My wife and I would highly recommend stopping in and getting your fill!! We came back the next day for breakfast and it was equally as positive of an experience and the food was amazing!

Mike S.

Yelp
Food very good. Didn't care for server wearing a COVID mask. Beautiful ambiance and view from the patio.

Yelp
Went last night for a new years dinner menu. I had the marrow, lobster bisque, and the rib eye. Everything was so salty it made my gums hurt. The chef needs to lay off the salt . $75 for a meal here was probably double what it should have been.

Andy S.

Yelp
I'm not a "foodie" and I believe those self proclaimed critics are creating lousy restaurants. In trying to please those who believe they have a refined palate, chefs are WAY overdoing a simple meal. This place has a very limited menu. I was tired of burgers/beef, and too hungry for just a salad so I ordered Swedish meatballs. Typically, this dish comes in a gravy served over noodles. These were over seasoned, dry, served on roasted new potatoes and the "gravy" amounted to a light drizzle over the top. It was like it was added for appearance rather than taste. Service was slow. Our waitress was wearing a mask 4 years after the pandemic, which was off putting. I could barely taste any liquor in my cocktail. I had planned on having dessert but the service was so slow that I decided to go to the bar and ask for my check so we could walk down the street for ice cream before the store closed. If you like trendy crap then this place is for you. My wife and I are very generous tippers, usually 30% or more. This girl got 15%.

Todd S.

Yelp
Nice location. Good food and friendly staff Would come again when passing through the area

Yelp
The flavors are incredible! I had Scarlet delivered to my room in the St. James. The food runner was efficient, helpful and kind. I was brought an entire carafe of Sprite when I ordered 2 glasses, which I felt was extremely sweet and generous. I did not have the full table service experience to judge that, however. My food was under a cloche, so it arrived hot. We ordered Swedish Meatballs and Black Garlic Lamb Pappardelle for dinner. The Swedish Meatballs are not like any I had ever had before. And I have had many! These tasted like a more robust meatball with a stronger, tangier sauce. The sauce was just barely covering the meatballs and mostly covering the fingerling potatoes. It was a delicious, balanced taste. A new way to deliver an overall familiar familiar plate but with new highlights. The lamb was amazing! It was falling apart on its own. The noodles were great. The over all flavor of the dish was green, unless you had a big piece of lamb, though. The dill and Thai basil just leave that fresh taste in your mouth. Such a hardy dish that sits so lightly on your stomach because it is so fresh. A work of magic all its own! We had a bed and breakfast room so we had another delicious delivery before check out: Biscuits and Gravy and Chocolate Nog French Toast. Such different flavors that were teased out and then balanced! The French Toast look like French Toast striped with chocolate but it wasn't. It was covered with the egg mix and then cornflakes. Then the chocolate sugariness was calmed by cinnamon. It was the only thing I needed to eat until dinner! The Biscuits and Gravy I can only give a third hand account of. From what I was told, they were spicy but mixed with cheesy, eggy goodness. The spice was calmed. The dish arrived with a baby bottle of Tabasco and you could see why, though it wasn't necessarily needed. I hope to be back to try out more dishes!

Yelp
Not a fan of this place. The menu looks good but it's execution can be spotty. The Red Wing signature Sturdiwheat pancake I ordered came out undercooked and doughy in the middle. The next day I ordered one well cooked and it was hard and dry. When I make these pancakes at home, I have neither of these problems. Wasn't thrilled that they serve raw spinach in their Florentine Benedict, but the fruit and yoghurt parfait looked wonderful. Coffee service is variable, too. Some servers are stingy with it, some not.
google avatar

Jeannie K.

Yelp
We lived in Red Wing for years, and often would go to the Veranda. We returned yesterday and were wowed by the makeover. Staff were attentive and wonderful. The menu is great. I had the Mediterranean bowl, with wonderful sauces and great Falafel My husband had the walleye sandwich and loved the fries as well. Great atmosphere. Not overpriced

Yelp
The Scarlet's outdoor seating area is the best place to enjoy great food and the Mississippi River in Red Wing.

Ross M.

Yelp
The wait staff's #1 goal is to get you fed and get you out. Went two weeks ago on a Saturday evening, there were tables available but the two hostesses made sure to make us feel bad about not making a reservation before they seated us. Our server was hurried to the point of being rude, and before we left, around 7:40 pm, they were making a big show of sweeping the floor around us and trying to close up early (there were several other tables of guests still seated at this time too). Two weeks later went again on a Saturday afternoon to catch up with an old friend. Different server got visibly mad when we needed more time before ordering and spent our entire meal being as outwardly rude to us as he could, (wouldn't refill waters, walked up and slapped our checks down on the table without saying a word and left).

Lauren B.

Yelp
What a fabulous dining experience. We are in flavor Country! And what a surprise that was, tucked away in Red Wing, MN. Both food and service were excellent. The quality and creativity of the food was outstanding. Chef Cory has put together an excellent team and great menus. We stayed at the St James and enjoyed four meals in the Scarlet and each one was exceptional. The biscuits and gravy was far beyond our expectations with some flavorful twists on the traditional version. The charcuterie board was stunning and creative. We had two different salads both of which were lovely and creative. The pork tenderloin was excellent and flavorful with a new take on presentation and flavors. And let me not forget dessert! The pastry chef is amazing and creative as well. Again, what city am I in?

C.E. T.

Yelp
Back to Scarlet. Red Wing is a nice town for a nice walk or just relax. The Scarlet restaurant is very nice and the view o the Mississippi is nice and the service is great. That is why we were back. We had a bad experience last time but we thought things were improving. On the other hand we forgot about the description of the whole menu. Great ideas but wrong ingredients. Being around at resturants for long time I am seeing more and more and more the tendency of putting into the dishes and uncontrollable amount of hot, indescribable, inexpressible, ridiculously hot spice ingredients in the preparation of the food. The restaurants use as propaganda the "gluten free". Now, the medical situation with gluten affects only 1.4% of the world population but 15% of the world population has peptic ulcer ( GOOGLE it) and 30% of the population gastritis. The hot spices like jalapeños, Cholula, schug, and many more in those quantities will produce more damage. The Celiac disease is not a game nor the rest of the diseases mentioned above. Therefore, please, be more open minded and when preparing the food leave the option, Gluten Free or Spice Hot FREE, thus everybody can enjoy the delicious food, the great service and the beautiful view.

Yelp
This is a very nice place, quaint and stylish.... we went there on a Saturday at 8:10pm, after the rush. The service was a bit slow, but somewhat expected. It took around an hour to get all of our food, but the apps and drinks came out fast enough, just a major gap to the entree's. We got the spinach artichoke dip app. It came out very hot and soupy, however after letting it cool down and thicken, it was great. They say it comes with naan bread, but it was more like triangle fried bread... not a traditional naan as you might expect. Nevertheless, it was good, just wish they put more naan on the dish. We got the steak and fries , and the mushroom risotto. Unfortunately, by the time the food was delivered, the steak was cold and chewy and the risotto was inedible. It was wayyyy too salty and the mushroom slices were chewy afterthoughts thrown on top. The fries however were awesome. Crisp and hot to perfection. Definitely the star of the entrees. For dessert they made an off-menu chocolate martini and it was great! Don't think I would order the same items again, probably just get the burger and fries ! That's all, happy eating.

Julie H.

Yelp
Drinks were awesome, food was disappointing a bit. Salad and Thai noodles were both a bit off. Stale chips, too much dressing and bland flavor for the salad. Thai noodles bland and small portion.

Heidi J.

Yelp
When I saw the menu online, I was very excited. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the expectations. The pork curry had what seemed like dried strips of tough jerky in it. It didn't have much flavor. The sauce was thick like an Alfredo sauce and overpowered by red pepper. I like spicy food, but the pepper was all I could taste and it was too hot even for me. We had the cheese curds too. I love cheese curds and was excited to try the sauce. Again, I looked forward to the spice in there, but the pepper was the dominant flavor. The Mediterranean salmon was good, but it wasn't good enough that I would go back to get it. The mixed drinks are very small and weak for the price, but it was a nice pour of bourbon. The ambiance is great. It's a beautiful place to with a great view and the service was good. I was disappointed in our dinner, but would try again for breakfast or lunch.

Yelp
We were so looking forward to the "new" Varanda. But once again the food is not good at all. Please hire a chef to go along with the beautiful outdoor space. Our server Liric was amazing . She was attentive and helpful. I had the shrimp fettuccine and it had very little flavor. My friend had the coconut curry and the color of the dish was very unattractive.

Yelp
Beautiful patio overlooking the River! Highly recommend the lavender martini and the crab Rangoon dip. Great service too. Our entrees were were pretty good otherwise it would get 5 stars (steak & fries and wild mushroom risotto).

Kris K.

Yelp
I had nothing less than excellent experiences at Scarlet during the week I stayed at the St. James Hotel. The staff was efficient and friendly, particularly on the occasions when I dined alone, one breakfast and one dinner. The atmosphere and view are both superb. Mississippi River just out the large windows that surround the restaurant. The menu is small, but the offerings are presented with enthusiasm and a creative spirit. I love love love the MN wild rice bowl for breakfast: bacon, mushroom, spinach, scallions in the wild rice, topped with two perfectly poached eggs (eggs any style, but the poached were really done right). Hubbs and I shared the spinach/artichoke gratin for a dinner starter - -folks, it's enough for 8 people! He had the lettuce wrap app for his meal: two different Asian sauces (one peanut), fresh sprouts and cilantro and thai basil w/fresh lettuce leaves to wrap around stir fry vegetables, fresh, good. I ADORED my cioppino ( a special). Wasn't my first choice, but my server talked it up and I had no regrets. Here, too, creativity ruled. There was fresh dill in it, which has no place in a cioppino normally, but with the briny, firm green olive slivers that garnished the mussels, octopus, cod and sausage in savory, spicy broth . . .that dill just worked. I will crave this version of cioppino . . .there was a nice hunk of grilled bread w/ butter. Mmmmm! Thanks Scarlet, for some wonderful experiences. : )

Yelp
Very well designed, patio dining. Shade to keep the heat out, a nice breeze since elevated. Delicious drinks and apps. Good service.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and Diego was an exceptional server. The hotel is amazing and I have to say 5 stars on service and 5 stars on the food and drinks. It was a great day and he always checked on us to see if everything was ok. He deserved his 25% tip and we are happy he was our server. Hands down outstanding service and amazing environment. Great job

Yelp
We ate here for the first time post-pandemic, and were incredibly disappointed. Pre-pandemic, we had great dining experiences in all the restaurants in the St James, but now this is the only one serving food. Our food -- burger and mushroom risotto -- were ridiculously salty. And our server forgot to enter our appetizer order. Honestly, I could understand that -- mistakes happen -- but the food was so salty that we decided to cancel our brunch reservations for the next day.

Yelp
The ambience was fabulous! Great view, excellent music selection, outstanding service from Bree! The Gunflint local wine was a great pairing with my burger. And when I say burger I mean just the burger and bacon with cheese. Don't bother with the bun, it's dry and not tasty. The fries were recommended by both the server and the couple next to me and they were crunchy and tasty! But, if you really want the YUM!, get dessert!!! The Bourbon Pecan Pie and the spiked cider! Best part of the meal! If I only had dessert I would give this five stars but the bun on the burger and too much garlic in the aioli dropped the rating.

Yelp
Came here in March. Full disclosure I am just starting to do normal things again since covid started. I came to dinner here with my mom and was so pleased. They were still taking covid seriously which I greatly appreciated. People were spaced out as much as possible, reservations were required to maintain a safe space. They cleaned the tables and let the disinfectant sit for the proper time so it actually disinfects. Our waitress was so pleasant and gave wonderful service. Food was really good. I will say the menu was smaller but we had the artichoke dip was very good. My mom had the special which was steak which was amazing. And I had a burger which was cooked perfectly. We also indulged in some cocktails which were also very good. I defiantly recommend this place. And will defiantly come back to support.
