Scarpetta Los Angeles

If you want to live large, even for just a couple of hours, go here. I knew I hit the fancy button when I tried to open my car door and the valet guy came barrelling up to the car window all breathless, panic-stricken at the thought of my having to open my own door. It's cool, I got it. Our party of six requested outdoor seating, and the afternoon brunch was just perfect - beautiful setting, glamorous hotel, classy service, and great, great food. The servers changed our silverware after every round to the buffet - yes, every round. I made a quiet joke to my sister that they'll have to come back five more times because I planned to get my money's worth. The server laughed, and said he wouldn't mind coming back ten times! Now that's cool. The food was top notch - from the pastries, to the sliced Italian meats, to the prime rib and lamb, to the amazing seafood (oysters were oh-so-fresh). The crab claws were split open for you so you never had to get your hands dirty. The famous spaghetti lived up to the hype, and I am now going to use extra, fat noodles at home just like Scarpetta does. The many side dishes - from beets, to mushrooms, to potatoes, etc. - were varied and complemented the rest of the buffet. I will recommend this place. It's beautiful and delicious! Thank you!

The food was good, but it didn't really live up to the hype in my opinion. I've heard such amazing things about their brunch, so I think my expectations were out the roof. Don't get me wrong, the food was yummy but I was expecting even more. The spaghetti with basil was good. The beet & goat cheese salad was my favorite. The croissant with mascapone cheese butter was addicting. The chocolate stuffed french toast stick was sweet and delicious.

Incredible dining experience. The spaghetti, oh my. Best I've had. Great wine pairing by the sommelier, Jesus. The price isn't actually that bad for their food, service, and location! Absolutely loved our experience and will definitely be back.

I blame my lackluster Scarpetta brunch experience on the breathtaking scenery of the Beverly Canyon Gardens. The food was doomed to failure against such an amazing backdrop. The quality of the food was impeccable (think fresh fruits, veggies, seafood) but the taste and selection was just not up to par for the $70+ dollar price tag. The shellfish was a little too cold, the meats a little too dry, the vegetables a little too soggy, and the desserts were hit or miss. In fact, I much prefer the brunch buffet at M Resort in Vegas which provides flavorful food items at a reasonable price including drinks (try it!). I might visit Scarpetta again, but only for the tomato-basil spaghetti, which in accordance with popular belief can do no wrong. Toothsome and flavorful, it was the only item that garnered repeat trips to the kitchen. I wouldn't steer you away from visiting Scarpetta--it is a pleasant experience--but so is being $70 richer!

The ambiance of this place is dark and romantic. Came here for dine LA with friends. Their polenta is the best in here. It's creamy and delicious with truffles on top. I didn't really like their fish, it has fishy smell, and usually fishy smell is indication that the fish is not fresh. I read it in some of the other yelp reviews that their fish has fish smell....and they were right. I also had the short rib pasta for main course and they look like chinese dumplings with short ribs wrapped inside it. It was way too salty. 3 of my friends ordered same thing, and they said the same. I dig their molten chocolate cake with coffee ice cream. Their ice cream wasn't that sweet, which compliments the sweet chocolate cake, with hot fudge oozing out. It was the best to end the night. I think their valet parking is expensive, but if you have your tickets validated, it's around $8. I find the restaurant very noisy. It's a great place to bring your date here, but if you're with a group of people, you really can't hear what they're trying to say.

Scarpetta, Tonight we ate with a group of 10 people in an amazing private room, in the Beautiful Kitchen and the food was amazing , but the service was even better. The drinks, appetizers and main course and the delicious desserts were all really tasty. We all had a great fine dining experience- I would highly recommend if. Larry Blivas - Brentwood

One of my favorite restaurants in LA, the food here is life changing. So simple yet amazingly delicious. The ambience is great, and the staff is extremely pleasant. They have a great happy hour as well!

Great ambiance, but not so great food.... well, at least for the entree I chose. Came here for dineLA on a Monday night... it was a packed house! I was impressed by both the polenta and the molten chocolate cake dessert. However, I was disappointed by the main entree - the Short Rib Agnolotti. It's a fresh idea to have the short rib inside something like a ravioli. However, someone needs to control the salt! It was way too salty for me. Thank God I had wine to wash it down with! Speaking of wine, the corkage fee was $35 for a bottle. The polenta was nice and creamy and perfectly complemented with the truffles on top. The coffee ice cream that came with the molten chocolate cake was lightly sweeten. It went well with the overpowering sweetness of the chocolate. All in all, it's a nice restaurant with a good ambiance. The service was superb. Now, probably if I come back next time and order something different, it'll might become 5 stars? Haha... we shall see... we shall see. Be sure to get validated for parking so it's $8. Valet only.
