Scenic Hotel Dunedin City

Very large king room. Spacious, comfortable beds. More than enough linen and toiletries, we received more than we usually do at other hotels. There is 2 laundry rooms where you can also purchase washing powder like a vending machine for $2 but we received 1 free. It has 1 washing machine and dryer which cost $4 each. Also has books and a microwave in the room which is very handy. The location is great right in town. Service very good as well. The price was amazing. Very cheap compared to nearby places and just overall for a hotel. Would stay here again next time.

This was obviously once a nice hotel. It is now very dated. Bathrooms would not run water hot enough to shave; showers were ok, but step over into a bath style. Beds comfortable, room very large. Difficult to get the heating set right. Enjoyed that there was a table and chair to sit at and work, which is not always the case in some hotels. Geographically well positioned. |Had planned to use the gym, but it was closed for refurbishment. I stayed in Christchurch at a Distinction Hotel the night before that was $10 more and completely different class.

My husband had a stroke during a cruise and was admitted to duneden hospital. I was lucky enough to book into scenic hotel duneden for a week. The staff were commendable and made my stay more than comfortable. They supported me thru the process of my husband being in hospital. They allowed me to use their phone to stay in contact with Australia until I had the opportunity to organise phone contact for myself. I will always remember their courteous treatment which made this ordeal a lot easier for me. The room was very clean and the cleaning staff were very obliging. The reception staff excelled themselves and the restaurant food was top class. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone wishing to have top class accommodation at a reasonable price. We really enjoyed our stay at the Scenic. The rooms were very comfy and also really huge! Plenty of rooms. Nice and clean and very quiet. The restaurant fare was lovely, great breakfast. Great location for exploring Dunedin, all the staff were very cheery and keen to assist. One thing in particular…a really quick elevator! Not that common in hotels I have found 😀 Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Dunedin was an unexpected stay after my partner was hospitalised for many weeks. Nadia, Sheila, Brad, Peter and the rest of the fantastic team at this hotel could not have been kinder or more accommodating of my situation. The welcome was warm and genuine and I felt at home.|The room was quiet, spacious and well appointed - some rooms have fantastic views over the harbour. The hotel is ideally located, an easy walk to everything. There is a guest laundry room with a mini book swap and the buffet breakfast is delicious and generous. I have no hesitations in recommending this lovely hotel and staff. I look forward to a return visit with my partner.

What a great experience. Centrally located within easy flat walk to shops, restaurants. We arrived early before our check in time and they were happy to shuffle around to find us a room early. It was so appreciated. Friendly staff who always went the extra mile to make me and my daughter welcome.we were able to store our luggage and use the lounge facilities until our shuttle collected us.

This was my third time in Dunedin, and my second time staying there. The location was good, the room was spacious and relaxing, and the sheets and towels were very clean and comfortable.す The breakfast was also delicious. I was especially impressed by the cheerful smiles of the reception staff. All the staff were always friendly. However, when I returned to my room at 4pm, it hadn't been cleaned yet, so it would have been better if the room cleaning time had been a little earlier and if the area under the window frames had been wiped down.

Great central location and good rates overall. Room was very spacious and clean, loved the accessibility to turning off lights for the room near the bed :) I ordered the lamb burger and chips and was really impressed with the quality of the room service food and portion sizes. Will definitely be back.
