Stayed in a superior king room. It was warm, comfortable and spotless. Ate at Ports O Call restaurant one evening, very nice food although not cheap. All staff were attentive and helpful. Our room key cards stopped working on the second night there; expertly remedied by the desk staff.

Stayed here for a business trip. Rooms were clean, apart from the odd hair in the seating area and bathroom. Beds were comfortable with clean, crisp linen. Excellent pressure in shower and loved the shelf space in the bathroom for all your toiletries. Parking was a little scarce at times on hotel grounds. Nice friendly staff. Would stay here again.

Stayed 2 nights and had a fabulous time. The staff were all great and always acknowledged you. The room was very comfortable and the heating was great as it was resally cold outside. The location is also excellent - central city

Have stayed here numerous times over the years, but this is the first time for 4-5 years. Has always been a good place to stay and still is. Handy to city, clean rooms and friendly staff. Will have no hesitating going back i time I'm visiting Dunedin.

Great location. The rooms are a bit tired now. The lighting in the room was terrible. More lights needed and better placement of light switches too. The housekeeper tidied up daily but did not wipe down the tea/ coffee area of the hand basin area. Very nice staff. Tasty food

The room is this hotel was clean and good with all facilities required.|However, the shower was inside a deep bath. I’m of a certain age and even though being quite fit I really struggled to get out of the bath/shower. |Also when we first checked in we were given a key and told to take the lifts - no other information - could not find our room - other guests even joined in the search with us.|What we were not told is that we had to walk through a casino lobby (tacky) to another set of lifts. Really how hard would it be to give proper information.|This appalling lack of care and consideration by the staff is really upsetting.

Scenic Hotels are a mainstay of the NZ accommodation scene, probably the oldest group in the country. The casino hotel is arguably the Grand old lady of the Dunedin assets. ||And it’s starting to show. She’s getting old. ||Now before I go further it’s tough for hospitality at the moment, and this hotel has large rooms, was pleasingly clean, and the staff were lovely. But the asset is tired, the thermostat in my room was hanging off the wall, the sheets, albeit clean had a stain on them, (which was changed on day 2 without me asking) and the cable conduit for the tv was half hanging off the wall. Really small things in the scheme of things but at $235 a night I’d like to see more.||Location is bang on, just a 10 minute walk to the octagon and 30 odd to the Emerson brewery (worth a visit), it’s almost right next door to the Speights brewery and on a main road for buses etc. It’s cheaper than most of its competitors, and it’s definitely a 3 star hotel. If you’re away with the kids, it’s really good bang for buck.

Very comfortable bed, warm room, block out drapes, great location, clean room, nice staff at reception. |Noisy housekeeping ladies constantly yelling and laughing too early in the morning. Only milk for 2 hot drinks. Expensive and difficult parking.
