"Sitting atop the escarpment at Katoomba, Scenic World offers four memorable ticketed experiences for accessing the Blue Mountains’ natural wonders. While there, you can ride the steepest passenger incline railway in the world (Scenic Railway); take a turn on the Southern Hemisphere’s steepest aerial cable car (Scenic Cableway); float on air between two clifftops (Scenic Skyway); or stroll through a Jurassic rainforest (Scenic Walkway). Its sky-high hub also includes indoor restaurant EATS270 and the alfresco Terrace Café, which has fab views of the Three Sisters, Mount Solitary, and Jamison Valley." - Sophie Davies

An excellent day out for friends and family. This is a great day out to see the beauty of the blue mountains. We went on Easter Saturday so it wa very busy but was also really well organised. They had additional parking, lots of extra staff on and very very friendly. We pre booked tickets and a meal which was a good idea. The lines for the three rides, were quite long but moved very quickly, again due to excellent organisation. The only attraction that is really accessible for wheelchairs is the skyway. It is understandable however as it would be impossible to adapt the train for wheelchairs. Highly recommend for locals and tourists

We arrived a bit too late to be able to do all three attractions. I wish you could buy attraction tickets individually in situations like that. It’s cool for a single visit but maybe a little high for repeat visits. Decent looking gift shop too.

Such a fun place to take people. Lots of walks and all the paths are completely paved so suitable for everyone, including prams and wheelchairs. Great views of the Blue Mountains, including the Three Sisters. Would definitely come back - was worth getting the pass for the "trains" too. Just purchase pass in advance.

Wonderful experience on a good sunny day. Views amazing! Visit on a week day not weekend. It's cheaper and less busy. Fantastic souvenir shop. Get there early to make it worthwhile buying a ticket. Then you will be able to go on all 3 rides all day long. Unlimited rides. There is a great Cafe with stunning views. Staff are all very friendly and eager to assist you.

Huge Shoutout to the Scenic World Blue Mountains Team! We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Scenic World to celebrate our kids’ birthdays, and what an incredible day it turned out to be. The experience was made extra special by the amazing staff who went above and beyond to make it unforgettable. Right from the moment we arrived, the team at the front counter made us feel welcome. As soon as they found out it was the boys’ birthdays, they handed out birthday badges with big smiles. That thoughtful little gesture instantly made the kids feel seen and celebrated. It was such a great start to the day. Then came Rosy. She was so sweet and kind, and truly went out of her way to make sure the boys felt like the most important people there. She surprised them with adorable little koala plush toys from the gift shop, made sure they got to sit right at the front of the ride, and was just full of warmth and care throughout. You could tell she genuinely loves what she does, and it showed in every interaction. What a star. And then there was Xavier. While we were waiting in the queue for a ride, he found out it was the kids’ birthdays and instantly lit up. With so much energy and joy, he got the entire crowd to sing Happy Birthday for the boys. It was such a beautiful and fun moment, and it made us feel truly celebrated. The kids were absolutely glowing, and so were we. What a legend. Rosy and Xavier, you are the heart and soul of Scenic World. It is people like you who turn a regular outing into something unforgettable. Your kindness, energy, and attention to detail made all the difference. To the whole Scenic World team, thank you for making our birthday celebration so joyful and full of magic. We cannot wait to visit again and we will be telling everyone about the amazing people who made it all happen.

We recently visited during the school holidays as we were in the locality. Being that we have visited the Blue Mountains over 20+ times over the years, we are glad we finally took the time to slow the pace down and take in the scenery. Definitely recommend booking tickets online in advance. The earlier a session the better in my opinion (as by lunch time it is packed!) We entered at 9am and took the first ride around 9.40am as we first orientated ourselves to the area etc. The walks are magnificent, with enough to keep even the little ones occupied with the sights. By 10am the rides started getting relatively busy, so as I said the earlier the better in our opinion. We also pre booked lunch but sadly wouldn't say it was worth it. The shoestring fries were very so so. There was no information online for those with disabilities and having a carer attend (using a companion card). We also tried to call ahead but sadly the ticketing line was closed by the time we made the decision to book tickets. With no clear indication on weather they allow assistance via a companion card, we had to book a second adult in case they did not have the allowance. Thankfully the experience as a whole definitely made up for the experience.

We had a fabulous experience at scenic world. As a kid I was able to experience the old scenic railway so it was great to return 40 yrs later with my hubby and see how it’s grown and expanded and really have him understand why I loved coming up to Katoomba to ride the train ! The staff here are all friendly and helpful, the cafe has great options for a light snack and a coffee. We grabbed a book from the gift shop and wandered around and enjoyed the scenery. It’s absolutely worth a visit while you’re in Katoomba.

Yelp
It was alright it was fun and we went in winter and we had the worlds best pies fun place I wish the ride did not kill some people so we can go on it but you get what you get and you don't get upset

Yelp
What a beautiful vantage point to see this amazing land. The three sisters rock formation and the falls are just the beginning. Being able to go down deep in the bush and walk around on the boardwalks. Breathtaking nature. The pass gives you access to all 3 cars to travel up, down and across the mountains. Cafe for a snack or a dinning area for something more substantial.

Karen W.

Yelp
Blue Mountain is a fun place for the whole family. You can explore different trails to get unique views of the Three Sisters and the beautiful mountain view. Other trails can be more challenging but they allow you to see the waterfall and other scenic points up close. The admission includes unlimited rides for three different trams. However, most of the trails are not very handicapped friendly.

Gene W.

Yelp
Apparently this is the top commercial attraction the the Blue Mountain NP area and rightly so. While this place is a bit kitschy with it's animatronic dinosaurs and use of Jurassic Park theme music, it's not over the top. Over all much of it is well done, especially the 3 "rides" that are included in the day pass ($50-$60 Aus). The crown of this park is the super-steep funicular tram that takes riders from the main building atop the cliff escarpment somewhat down into the valley. The angle of descent is greater than 50 degrees and definitely feels steep. At the bottom are excellent boardwalk trails that meander through the forest populated by robotic almost full-scale dinosaurs. The other 2 rides are basically sky trams traversing short spans of the canyon. Pretty scenic and impressive given the Blue Mountains setting. The daily price allows unlimited rides though on busy holidays or weekends, waiting times to board can exceed 20 minutes. During our stay of 4 hours, we rode 3 round-trip (1 on each ride). By mid-afternoon, the park was jammed with many tour groups. 4 stars for the relatively steep price & the limited things to do. But kudos for integrating this attraction into its spectacular setting and not being too crass or exploitive about it. The adjacent Prince Henry cliff walk is a must-do when visiting this park ( though it's actually not part of the Scenic World).

Yelp
Great way to check out parts of the Blue Mountains. Scenic World allows you to self-guide yourself in an area of the Blue Mountains, Three Sisters, and nearby falls. There are great east to read map boards and trail markers in the park. Most of the park sits opposite the Three Sisters. In 1878 coal was mined from the bluffs Scenic World now sits on. The Scenic Railway is the world's steepest passenger train, originally it was built to haul coal up from a mine. I took it down to the valley floor. Fast and steep!! It was almost like a drop on a roller coaster. Later in the day I took the the Scenic Skyway across the valley to check out the Katoomba Falls. This is the only horizontal cable car in Australia. It crosses the Jamison Valley 885 feet up. The coolest part is the glass floor that allows you to look down on the valley as you cross. The last ride was on Scenic Cableway. It's the steepest cable car in the Southern Hemisphere. And was a great way to see Orphan Rock, Mount Solitary and the surrounding cliffs. The Terrace Café & Bar is located in the park. I chose to eat in town. Scenic World is open every day of the year. 9am-5pm on weekends and 10am-4pm on weekdays. For current ticket prices check out their website www.scenicworld.com.au

Yelp
Simply spectacular! This was an amazing experience with amazing staff that was super helpful throughout the day. There were many activities around the park. This includes three fantastic rides. One down to the bottom of the park with steepest decline in the world, one back to the top and one in the cable cart across the valley (cart with transparent floor!). Beautiful views of three sisters, lush rain forest, and exciting walks around the park. You can spot some wild life if you get lucky. Don't forget to check their souvenirs shop that offers many good quality items. Highly recommended!!

Andrea U.

Yelp
We walked through an endless gift shop & cafe to purchase out wristbands. We went into a tram & went down into the blue forest. We walked along a boardwalk smelling the eucalyptus. We saw coal mining displays & equipment. We got on the vehicular Back up to the gift shop. There was a large dinosaur park & displays for children. There was a large gift shop and cafe with outdoor seating. We enjoyed :90 here.

Yelp
Honestly the $55 price per adult was not worth it. The volume of people they allow in made for long, long, LOOOOOONG queues and waiting around, maybe they are trying to recoup some money since Covid but it's come at the cost of enjoyment. Entry time 4:45 left 7:30, waited probably 40mins per ride with the ride only going for less than 10mins. Not going to lie the rides itself were so good! The railway was much more fun than expected. The inconsiderate parents around made it a terrible experience too, Covid has gone away with self awareness. In all if they didn't allow as many people through in one go it wouldn't have been that bad

Kellie R.

Yelp
Scenic World is an absolutely fun and beautiful place to visit if you find yourself in Australia. I'm unsure how I found the Blue Mountains but I'm glad I did. Scenic World put me out of my comfort zone with their thrilling transportation "rides." We happened to visit when Australia was going through a heat wave. I can tell you this much, do NOT visit Blue Mountains if it's 110 degrees (unless you're used to that, of course). There is a ton of walking and climbing if you want to get good photographs (but it's not necessary because there's beauty all around). Blue Mountains are absolutely stunning and it makes for a great addition to your trip!

Jim J.

Yelp
This place is a ridiculous tourist trap operated by incompetent imbeciles. Far from ADA compliant understandably this not being in America, however one would hope they would make an effort to be more compassionate and accommodating to the disabled. There are absolutely zero considerations for people with disabilities. There are basically 3 short carnival rides to nowhere. When first seeing the gondola, or funicular, you have a brief hope that this will take you somewhere exciting, however as previously mentioned it goes nowhere which leave passengers wanting to return without exiting the rides. The park operators have become savvy to this and rudely force everyone off to stand in another line to get back. Of course your skin tone may adjust the level of aggression from the staff. And this becomes the experience, standing in line for a lame ride an elevator or stairs could bypass. I suppose this beats nothing, I just wish the workers were less rude and idiotic.

Nicole Q.

Yelp
Scenic world is arguably the best way to see the blue mountains via four different rides, all of which aim to give panoramic view of the various rock formations, waterfalls, and the Jamison valley. Admission is reasonably priced for the day and includes a skyway over the canopy, a cable car, steep railway (originally used to shuttle coal), and extensive rainforest walking path. The guides are helpful and friendly. There are no restrooms in the valley so be sure to take care of business before hand.

Ariana K.

Yelp
Came to Scenic World as part of our Andersons Tour. Unfortunately for us, the weather was rainy and foggy, so we really didn't see much of anything. I'm sure on a clear day this place would be breathtaking. Even though it was foggy we were still hopeful and went on the walkway, cableway and the railway. Honestly didn't see much. My personal highlight of this visit was definitely the railway! It was surprisingly steep.

Jen L.

Yelp
The ride bits are sort of touristy but fun. The weather was poor so the Skyway was a bit of a bust...until we were right over the trees and suddenly treetops were looming under the transparent floor. Same with the cableway, you couldn't see things until you were right on them which made for a bit of a fun house ride. We rode the railway backwards and yep I thought I was going to fall to the bottom of the cars...so very steep. BUT what made this trip for me was the walkways through the forest, the Jurassic rainforest that is. Some of the trees in this valley date back to that time period. The rain and fog meant that not many people were walking around and it made everything quiet and peaceful. The coal mining history is interesting and the statues/mannequins in the caves are a bit creepy...in a good way. I wasn't sure that I would enjoy this portion of the tour but I did.

Tiffany D.

Yelp
This was another great experience and memory. We got the opportunity to see the Three Sisters rock formation from Echo Point Lookout at Katoomba. We also boarded the world's steepest passenger railway and descend into an ancient rainforest. Where I got to hang from vines at 25 weeks pregnant. Lol! Last, we hopped aboard a glass-floored cable car suspended above the steep gorge to get a panoramic view of the mountains. We visited Scenic World Blue Mountains while on the Blue Mountain Day Tour (Glenbrook). I would say this was an amazing experience. You get to see the Three Sisters rock formation as well as its cool surroundings. Riding the cable car and the railway were also pretty freaking awesome! I would encourage you to visit this location on a day tour because you are able to view a few other locations all in one. I felt this was the best way to view the Blue Mountains for the best bang for my buck. Even if you do not do a tour I would encourage you to come.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Scenic World Blue Mountains is a destination near Sydney that allows visitors better views of the Three Sisters rock formation, Katoomba Falls, and of the area (should the weather cooperate). Caught somewhere between tourist destination and Jurassic park, walking deep along the trails you half expect to see a dinosaur munching on a fern as you round the bend. The unlimited ticket offering unrestricted riding access is the best way to take advantage of all the park has to offer. Picturesque views can be obtained from any of their three methods of transport. Be warned, they are not so great for those with a fear of heights though. The skyway over the canopy and the ski-lift-esque cableway can be downright harrowing, and the 52 degree incline railway is dubbed "the world's steepest," and can be made even more intense should your seatmates choose to angle your row further. Although if you'd prefer not to look, that's okay, plenty of others will jostle for window space as they attempt to snap some shots of the prehistoric rainforest or waterfalls below. Once at the "base" you can wander though the vegetation on the walkway, and learn more about the area's coal mining past. If you manage to beat the afternoon throngs or tour groups meandering along the boardwalk it can be downright serene. While sunny clear days may improve the visibility, even among the mist and rain Scenic World Blue Mountains is a stop worth considering. It provides a glimpse into Australia's past and provides a unique perspective of the region.

Brianna B.

Yelp
I bought the explorer bus pass, and paid extra to include entry to Scenic World because I was told it was incredible, but I wasn't fully impressed by it. It is very kid oriented, so if you're traveling with your family, it might be more worth it, but as someone traveling solo, it wasn't for me. The three rides were fun, but short. I honestly felt like I got better views of the mountains just hiking the different trails around from the bus. I probably won't be back because the price is pretty high, but if you have kids, this is something they might enjoy. Pictured is the glass bottom Skyway.

Ivan P.

Yelp
I never expect that I would have the courage to get on the steepest passenger railway in the world, but the Scenic Railway did not disappoint. it was a truly unforgettable experience getting into glass carriages and hurtling in full speed downhill through tree-lined rainforest with views of the spectacular Jamison Valley. Even more thrilling than hurtling downwards is when the same carriage is pulled backwards, so I was literally going in reverse with the mountain view rising in front of me...it was like a movie with the best views and one that I would never want to stop watching. The Scenic Skyway just blew me away with the glass floor section in the middle through which I could see the mountain rainforest passing underneath me with breathtaking views of Katoomba Falls, the Three Sisters, and Jamison Valley in all directions. The ride was thoroughly thrilling. On the other side of the station (across to another mountain, wow!) if you choose you can head to the valley along with bush trails to Echo Point, however we took a second round to go back to the first station to get to the other rides.

Herbert E.

Yelp
'Ello chaps! Scenic World in the Blue Mountains is a MUST VISIT attraction when near Sydney. On a public train, it'll take you about two hours to get to the Katoomba station, and then a quick public bus trip to the Scenic World itself. What a cool place. Scenic World is set in the area where you can walk through the rainforest. Several ways to get up and down from the top of the mountain. There's the Scenic Railway, which the park touts as being the steepest cable-driven railway in the world. Pretty cool 52 degree drop! But, no worries. It's not scary. It can be ridden by anyone in the family. I also love the musical surprise once the ride gets going. The Skyway also takes you back and forth between the valley floor (where you can walk the wooden paths through the rainforest) and the top. the Cableway takes you back and forth between the main station and public bus drop off. There is a gift shop, with a variety of items for sale, and several cafes and restaurants on site. All decently priced. There is a fee for admission, but well worth it. You can spend several hours here. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water as you will be walking A LOT.

Helen S.

Yelp
This park is kind of a let down after hiking through the actual paths in Blue Mountains National Park. For $39 per adult (unfortunately non-AU/NZ student IDs don't qualify for the concession price), you get to squeeze through a crowded gift shop that serves as the hub for all the attractions, then wait in disproportionately long lines for an airborne cable car, steep railway, and yet another sky tram. And then walk around a paved wooden path through the chilly valley. Somehow, the announcers on the various "rides" pull off a bit of dry humor in their speeches, repeated ride after ride, day after endless day. I suppose the park at least lays claim to the steepest railway in the world, which you can pretend was on your bucket list if it wasn't on there before. If you go between April and May, the walkway will exhibit various sculptures integrated along the path which range from "huh?" to "that's really neat". But I still think this place is worse than Disneyland because each attraction has only one car in operation. I guess it's a nice way to experience the park if you're with people with limited mobility or aren't feeling up to traipsing up and down the canyons on your own. If you can though, I'd recommend doing the hikes and standing on the Three Sisters and Katoomba Falls up close and personal. A jacket is necessary after 3p, when the bottom of the valley loses its sunlight and becomes quite cold. Last ride up is around 4:58p, so plan accordingly unless you're up for the steep climb to the top!

Christal C.

Yelp
Don't pass up on this fun and thrilling adventure. To get the most out of your experience, skip the long lines and head over to the next ride. It's better to go when it isn't crowded, or else you're pushing and shoving your way through just to get the best view. Come here early. You can spend almost half the day here. The rides are an experience on their own, but the walks at the bottom of the valley takes some time too. Is it worth the drive from Sydney? Yes definitely. The kids would love it too.

Phillip L.

Yelp
What a great way to get out an explore some of the outdoor life in beautiful Australia. The price is extremely favorable and you get unlimited turns on the activities. It's a nice thing to do when visiting Sydney as it gets you out of the busy city life. The drive out here is a fun one going up the mountains and seeing each one of the smaller cities. Definitely include this in your trip to Sydney if you take one.

Richard A.

Yelp
What a beautiful place to see. The transportation (Railway, Skyway and Cableway) was well organized to handle the crowds of people using them. They also had an area for the kids to amuse them self while you waited in line for tickets. The trail was clearly marked and easy to walk. It is clearly worth the trip to see it,if you are in the Sydney area

Antonio C.

Yelp
I feel the need to give 2 ratings: 3* is what I got for it. Personally. I'll explain further 5* is what I would rate if I had young kids with me at the time. Reviewing is exposed to such subjective opinions that I believe it's important to read what people have to say as it can help make our minds. This weekend was our first time at the Blue Mountains. It blew our minds. We like exploring the wilderness and trekking on natural environments. The day before coming to Scenic World we did the National Pass+Overcliff and it was outstanding. So our expectations were pretty high... We actually had an amazing trek too. We used the Skyline to go towards the Three Sisters, went down the 1000 steps to Federal Pass, and reached Scenic World by foot again. Only to walk their easy walkway and grab the train (actually quite fun) all the way up again. Our walk, was epic. But because we went our way. If we had stayed at Scenic World premises alone, it would have been a little disappointing as we wanted that inspiring journey. Essentially, we paid for an overpriced transport to get us all the way up to the top again. This said. Their premises are excellent for families. Very safe and you get to absorb the breathtaking views from all they have to offer. Definitely a fun family day out. You also get a bit of history added to it.

Carolyn L.

Yelp
This is considered "new" or very spruced up to those who had been to Blue Mountains at least a decade or more ago. Everything looks shiny and modern. It may be out of place to those who prefer the natural rustic beauty of Blue Mountains, but to first time visitors like me, I think it is a gem. Besides the walking trails, there are three ways to explore the mountains. 1. Scenic Railway 2. Scenic Skyway 3. Scenic Cableway My favorite is the Scenic Railway which is quite steep but that is the fun part. You could adjust your seat incline to make it even steeper. The place is clean, with plenty of signs describing the history, and also the names of the plants/trees. There are wildlife all around. Respect them and just observe them in their natural habitat. The washrooms are clean and there is a cafe if you need some nosh or rest. The gift shop is quite big and has decent souvenirs if you want to get any. I would recommend to download the Blue Mountain app if you have a smart phone as it does give some discounts or rewards to the tourist attractions in the vicinity.

Vijay S.

Yelp
Came here as part of a tour to Blue mountains. Must do all 3 rides, well worth it. Nice to walk around the different walkways, will take about 45 minutes. Also, you might see a lyrebird if you're lucky. After exiting, there are additional trails to the falls as well that you can take. Overall good experience here.

Christina M.

Yelp
It's a little hard to take seriously a place called Scenic World and not feel like the ultimate tourist but alas we were on a day tour and were definitely tourists so it all made sense. We paid to go on all 3 attractions. First we took the skyway to the main building, then the railway down to the valley floor, and finally the cableway back to the main building. The skyway is the easiest way to see Katoomba Falls. It is on your right if you are traveling toward the main building. This is also where you can get the best views of the Three Sisters and the Blue Mountain valley as a whole. The railway is a 52 degree incline that descends 310 meters through a tunnel. If you have the opportunity to sit in the front row like we did, then definitely take it. Also make sure you hold onto your belongings as there were a couple water bottles sliding around during our descent. The cableway was a bit anticlimactic in comparison to the railway and skyway but you still have nice views as you return to the main building. I was quite skeptical when we pulled up given the name but it's really a nice way to see the highlights of the Blue Mountains in a short period of time. If I had to only go on one of the transportation systems, I'd pick the skyway. The railway was novel and fun to have done once but you are in a tunnel and surrounded by a lot of trees so it isn't great for scenery. 4 stars.

Steve N.

Yelp
I've been visiting here for many years and always enjoy myself. The thought and funding that has been expended here has opened up the existing old coal mine to new interests and the potential for further sensitive and in-keeping development is obvious. I'll keep returning.

Glenn F.

Yelp
Once upon a time there was a manky old green tin shed with some ancient rides showcasing the beauty of our upper mountains, the Jamison Valley and the Three Sisters. Then the attraction "grew up"... and Scenic World was born. This is a place with happy staff. When a tourist attraction has happy staff, you know you're in for a good day. The rides are awesome. Don't be put off by the scenic railway. My kids have been riding it since they were in utero. They love it. So you have no excuse! In fact it's never crashed so what are you worried about? Australia is physically an old continent with an ancient people inhabiting it... and a very recent white history. Scenic World lets you experience the grandeur of one of the most ancient landforms in the world, the culture of our first peoples, as well as the short and not-always-glorious history of white Australia, from those mining the valley for its riches to the Hammon family preserving some of that history while also showcasing the resilience of the Aussie bush in reclaiming it's own again after the destruction of the mining. The bush is winning. Scenic World is the place to see this all with easy access. Don't just do one or two rides. Get a day psss. Great value.

Carrie G.

Yelp
A must do when you are visiting the Blue Mountains. One entry fee ($35) gets you access to all the attractions which include a cable cars, a train and elevated walks through the trees. The views from all are absolutely breathtaking! You see waterfalls, mountains and gorgeous untouched forests. We saw native birds frolicking and scratching about, it was really magical. The railway is super steep and you can adjust the pitch of your seat to make it more or less intense. The queues moved reasonably fast but do allow yourself plenty of time as it does get busy!

Daisy K.

Yelp
It's interesting, but it's not really about the Blue Mountains. It's touristy as hell and half the time, you don't get to see the beautiful Blue Mountains unless you're on one of their rides... which are usually jam packed and everyone is over crowding the window areas. If you're going to end up driving up here, just walk down other paths and get a closer more scenic look at the mountains. This is a tourist trap and wasn't for me.

Leah W.

Yelp
Loved spending the afternoon at scenic world- Incredible views everywhere you look!! We rode the worlds steepest train 3x but our favorite experience had to be the cable way with Lockland as our guide- his energetic personality & love for what he does really made the trip:) thanks!

Steffenie S.

Yelp
Went with a group of people here as part of a day tour. Was given 2 hours to spare but managed to try all the rides once. As what Carolyn had mentioned, there are three rides (skyway, cableway and train way). Took the skyway first and it was going straight. But the views from the two sides were gorgeous. In the middle of the skyway, the frosted glass will turned into clear view at certain areas. Here you could spot the waterfall and the "three sisters". The cableway. Wasn't like other cable cars. You can only stand but those who need to sit down, there are foldable chairs attached in the front area. And if you are afraid of heights, I wouldn't recommend you to stand in the front as you will see the huge plunge during the ride. After the cableway ride, you can do a 25 minutes trail which will lead you to trainway. During the trail, there are quite a bit of climbing so I don't suggest those with mobility or leg/knee problems to actually do this hike. You can probably do the shorter trail which has no stairs (according to the tour guide) and it leads you back to the main entrance. One way to describe the trainway - superb. Was the most steepest train ride in the world. It used to be for the miners but they renovated it into a capsule like ride where you can lay on the chairs and enjoy the uphill or downhill ride. Unfortunately for me, I was sitting to someone who was afraid of heights and she kept screaming. She was so afraid that she let go of her handbag which ended up two rows in front of where she was sitting at. I was also holding on my cellphone so I didn't grab hold of the side hand bar. Reminders, do not hold on to your loose items here. Wanted to do second and third round but it was time to leave. Had the chance to try out the food at eat270. Had their calamari and chips and 5 fruits drink (mango, orange, passion fruit, apple and pineapple). The calamari was great and the chips were addictive. Tried their thai sweet chilli sauce on the side as well. The drink, more citrusy but definitely acted as a refresher after a long walk under the sun. Shops.. They sell quite a range of items. Went for magnets and if you top up $1 you will get a $7 worth of small recycle bag (which I did). I think the first time you come here, it would be better off with a tour as you will explore places like echo point and Leura village (drivable distance away). Overall, great trip! Note: you do need to queue for a bit. So make sure plan ahead :) Came here around 3.30pm on a Monday second time. One tip: if you are doing the railway, sit back and put your legs on the top front chair - provided if it is empty in front. It won't feel as steep as the first time I did it.

Yelp
Scenic World definitely offers a good value - rides on the railway, skyway, and cableway are all unlimited when you purchase your ticket ($35). When you purchase your ticket, you receive a wrist band with a chip in it that is used to get on the railway, skyway, and cableway - but you also need it to get off each of those (I wonder why?) The railway is fun, but slightly terrifying (at least the first time). You choose your angle to ride down in: laid back is 44 degrees, original is 52 degrees, and cliffhanger is 64 degrees. Trust me - choose cliffhanger! You feel like you're going to slide right out of your seat and go tumbling down the tracks that are almost straight down the mountainside, but that's what makes it thrilling. You can ride the railway down and up the mountainside, but going back up is not quite as heart racing, but it does give you a better opportunity to enjoy the scenery. Once down at the bottom, take the boardwalk to enjoy nature and get in a little exercise. Old coal mining equipment is scattered throughout and there are plaques explaining what each item is. There are also plaques pointing out different trees and plants. You may even see some animals or birds out there. This boardwalk is not flat - there are a lot of ups and downs and your legs will be burning at the end of some of those hills. The boardwalk has several different paths that you can take so you can choose a short one, a long one, one that takes you back to the railway or one that takes you to the cableway. We took the longest one and headed to the cableway. The cableway is like a gondola and can transport a bunch of people up the mountain. It offers some great views, so try to get near the windows if possible. We didn't take the Skyway because we had already stopped at Echo Point before heading to Scenic World. After you've taken the railway, skyway, and cableway several times, take a while to wander the large gift shop. Sure, it's filled with typical souvenir type things, but also locally made items like soaps, lotions, and foods (honey, chocolate, etc.).

Yelp
Scenic World is a must see in the Blue Mountains. I've been here twice and over the years they have expanded. The number of tourists that filter through here is large BUT you never feel crowded or part of a an amusement ride. We always take the "world's steepest train" down into the valley. It's essentially like a roller coaster that is incredibly inclined. There is a cage so you don't fall out, but hold on to your stuff, because it's easy to lose a camera, hat, etc... The side down is fun and goes through a tunnel like area that's mostly enclosed. Walking around the forest is lovely. It's completely self paced and there is a short flat path or some longer paths with lots of stairs. There are many photo opportunities along the path. We then ride the cable car back up which has great views from anywhere you stand. There is a huge gift store with all the regular amenities and options. Many of the people I was traveling with enjoyed shopping here. Yes, it's pricey, but if you are looking for convenience, this place has it. There are few places around that give you such a variety of views of this beautiful area.

Yelp
Took the Scenic Cableway down to the valley 'caus the (old) Scenic Railway tickets were all sold out for the day. Going down you get a better perspective of the immensity of Jamison Valley, and there is a nice view of Katoomba Falls and the Three Sisters. In the Valley I see they have constructed a boardwalk that they didn't have before. Not as "natural" as it once was, of course, but I guess we need to preserve the environment from all those people. In the old days we called it a "path". Nowadays it is more artifical and they call it a "Scenic Walkway where you can stroll through 2.4 kilometres of Jurassic rainforest." Seems like certain people are strolling the Primrose Path to the land of BS. They were constructing the new scenic Railway at the time of our visit (11-2012) and now I see it's completed (5-2013). God bless the engineers who stayed up late to do their math homework (or did they?) Next time we will go on THAT. The old railway was a blast but that new one looks extreme. The new Scenic Railway (on a different track from the old) is still the steepest passenger railway in the world. Custom designed carriages allow passengers to choose their own experience from three options: the 'Cliffhanger' position is a steep 64 degree incline, the "Original" position is at 52 degrees and there is a 'Laid Back' option for those who are wondering why they agreed to ride the railway in the first place. Not a fan of the high prices though. Couldn't they do a better job curbing their greed?

Yelp
Very beautiful and well... scenic! It's cold so bring a jacket. Lots of people and groups. We walked through the walkway to enjoy the greenery. We also had to take the old railway roller coaster up to the top where everyone was meeting for lunch. Be aware if you're afraid of heights! It's pretty steep! I really felt like I was going to fall out! There are nice views from the cable car. Again, if you're afraid of heights or are claustrophobic, maybe just skip this part! The dining area was pricy, but the warm soup I purchased was comforting. The gift shop is overpriced but great for all you tourists. Bring your camera!

Yelp
I have a confession to make. I have a slight fear of heights. I still remember my trepidation when we took visiting family from Poland to the Blue Mountains last year and they decided they wanted to take a ride on The Skyway. Whenever I see 'mind the gap' at a train station, I take this warning (maybe a little too) seriously. Getting off the train always involves holding onto something first, followed by a deep breath. Boarding a train when it's packed sends me into a panic as I start to recollect horror stories of people falling in the gap or getting stuck. The Blue Mountains are situated on the border of metropolitan Sydney, about 50 kilometres west of Sydney. Looking down now at the expansive valley below, I thought to myself there's just no way I'll be able to do this. This will be the day when the machinery fails and I will plunge into the abyss beneath. I was ready to take a seat and await my family's return but before I knew it, I had a ticket in my hand and stood petrified in the line. Not my idea of a good time but with my 10 year old cousin jumping excitedly at the prospect of the journey ahead of us, I thought I better pull myself together and give this thing a go. I'm happy to say I not only lived to tell the tale, but really enjoyed the experience. I even have a photo to prove it. The Skyway takes you on a 720 metre trip during which you sashay across the sky, suspended 270 metres above canyons, rainforests, and spectacular waterfalls. Despite having been to the Blue Mountains on several occasions in the past, I felt like I was seeing them for the first time in all their glory. The backdrops looked like paintings. The 360 degree view includes the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls, Mount Solitary and Jamison Valley. This ride boasts a world first - an Electro-Sceniglass floor which makes you feel like you're walking on air. At the flip of a switch, magnificent views are revealed through the cabin floor, which I admired from a distance. My cousin may (or may not) have pressed his nose against the glass for a bird's eye view. After reaching the other side, we dined at the Skyway Restaurant, Australia's first evolving restaurant. The $35 all-you-can-eat buffet and beautiful scenery means you won't be leaving anytime soon. For the thrill seekers, there's the Scenic Railway-a steep incline through a cliff side tunnel down to a Jurassic rainforest. Other experiences available at Scenic World include: Scenic Walkway (a 2.8km walk), Scenic Cableway (a 500 metre ride into the World Heritage-listed rainforest of the Jamison Valley), and the Scenic Cinema where you can find out more about the local flora and history of the valley. I won't forget this experience in a hurry but will I go on the Scenic Railway next time? No chance. Skyway Return ticket prices: Adult: $16 Child (4-13): $8 Family: $40 Family=2 adults plus children (13 and under) The last rides leave at 4.50pm daily.

Yelp
Initially I thought that it was just the Three Sisters (and a bunch of hiking trails) that made up Katoomba, however when we caught the bus back to the railway station it took us past this place (or at least the skytrain). So, we decided to check it out instead of heading back into town. Look, there were some good things about this place, and some rather ordinary things. Sure, the skytrain past the Katoomba falls was magnificent (especially on a rainy day when you see the waterfall in all its glory), and the scenic railway is a thrill of a ride (it descends the mountain at an almost 90 degree angle), and the walks past the restored mining operations at the foot of the cliff were interesting, but it was still really manufactured. I guess the biggest gripe I had was that we were waiting for about half an hour for the bus to come and take us back (we probably just missed the last one).

Yelp
They've done this place up a lot since I was last here. Nice gift shop and not too pricey - the usual "Made in China" Aussie souvenirs in here... lol. You can buy a $35 ticket which will get you unlimited rides on the Skyway, Cable Car and Scenic Railway - the best value. Or a one-way trip on any of these is $14, which isn't great value. Unfortunately, we were on limited time so this was what we had to do. No big problems - will make more time next time. Staff were friendly and helpful explaining things to us, and view from the Skyway was excellent, despite being a cloudy day.

Yelp
The walkable trail, skyway, and tram were awesome. the staffs enthusiasm really made it a great experience. 1 star deduction for the overpriced food.

Yelp
Overpriced!! I've been here several times throughout my life. It's always been a great attraction, nice hike around the valley floor, the railway is awesome but I have to say they are price gouging and it's just made for overseas tourists. It used to be a decent price but over the past several years they're just jacked up the prices as most tourists won't care.It has gone up well above inflation. $35 per adult is crazy.

Yelp
What a gorgeous piece of country. The mountains and valleys are spectacular. The walks are amazing.

Yelp
On a limited time schedule I done this package with my girlfriend. You can easily go round this park and on the three rides in an hour or so. It provides good views of the Three Sisters. If you have kids, then this is great. None of the rides are too long or exhausting. If your an adult, you will feel like you were just on the childrens rides at a theme park and the experience might fall a bit flat. With hindsight, i probably wouldn't have bothered with Scenic World and just done the walking trails myself.

Yelp
Very good value for money. Extremely friend staff and reasonably proved gift shop. Oh...and some of the best look outs in Australia. Highly recommend it. Good job.

Yelp
Good value for money and good for people who wants to spend 1/2 day in the Blue Mountains without doing a lot of hiking. You could either start the day from riding the railway or the skyway first. To me the Railway is the highlight of the trip. (If you are acrophobic, this may not be for you.)

Yelp
Originally we were going to park in town but got a bit lost and just started to drive towards the top. Totally worth not taking the bus! Free parking. Sort of like a mini amusement park! Very fun! Make sure you wear some comfortable walking shoes!

Yelp
Scenic World is the main way you get to experience the Blue Mountains and see the Three Sisters. The park has a parking garage, albeit not a large one. The park has three different rides (skyway, railway, cableway) which allow you to get from point A to point B. We got the day pass which gave us unlimited rides all around the park. Scenic World has a gift shop and a café, both of which have decent options. On our way to the Three Sisters, taking the skyway got us a beautiful view of the waterfalls from high above. We walked only halfway to the Three Sisters, which were beautiful. Taking the cableway to the base of the park, we were able to find decent hiking areas for a bit more time to experience the nature. Although not the most scenic, the railway ride was the best ride of all, being the steepest passenger railway in the world at 52 degrees and giving us a great thrill at the end of our day!

Yelp
If you're looking to hike around and explore the trails and nature found in the Blue Mountains, Scenic World isn't for you. If you want an easy way to see the beauty of the mountains - or at least the three sisters, Katoomba Falls, and the background scenery then you're in luck. Scenic World has three rides set up that provide some spectacular views- 1 SkyWay - a gondola type thing that has a fabulous view of Katoomba Falls, the Three Sisters, and Orphan Rock. 2 Railway - the steepest railway in the world. Only takes a couple minutes and you're down at part of the scenic walk. It gets crowded and you may have to wait for a couple runs before you get on, but it was the highlight for us. 3 Cableway - another gondola type thing that runs almost parallel to the Railway. Pretty sure it only exists to reduce the volume of people using the railway, but it does offer spectacular views, so its worth a spin. At the bottom of the railway and cableway is a series of platform walkways that loop in different directions leading you through a rainforest to a sample miner's hut, a cathedral type open room with pews, and a coal mine shaft. The walkways are built for people of all ages, with only a few stairs, but a fair amount of steady inclines. The trees are beautiful, and they're labelled which is nice for people like me who some days can barely tell a pine from a palm. We saw a Superb Lyrebird which was a neat find for me. There's a couple of areas where you can leave Scenic World and explore the national park. If you don't have access to a car to really hike through nature, I strongly suggest you duck down at least one of those paths for a bit. I was eager to get away from the pushy crowds and tourist park surrounds after a few hours, but fortunate enough to have a car to get far far away. I thought the $35 day pass for unlimited rides was fair value, and their gift shop was well priced with a good variety. I saw snow globes and stuffed animals for around $10, as well as some reasonably priced tshirts and the like. I even managed to grab some reasonably priced jewelry. Overall a good experience you won't get elsewhere, but I couldn't escape the heavy feeling of consumerism which just felt out of place in such a beautiful area.

Yelp
We visited with our three kids ages 9, 11 and 13. This was a good day although we did add in a walk from the bottom outside of the normal tourist track to the bottom of the three sisters and then up the 800 steps back to the top. We did the train both directions and while very touristy, it was lots of fun. My daughter and I rode in the front seat and that was really fun us the look straight down adds a new dimension. The scenic walk was good and a nice introduction to the rain forest although the art spread throughout the area was "interesting". At the bottom, there was a temporary exhibit on carnivorous plants which was fun and new. The two gondolas offered great views and the glass bottom on one was fun. I thought the staff was engaging and full of good information. One of them helped us plan our day to minimize the impact from the big tours. The property is on most of the tour group schedules and it appeared to is they arrived shortly after lunch so I would recommend arriving in the morning. If you are up for it, walk down the Furbar steps ten turn left and go to the bottom of the Three Sisters, then up the 800 steps over to the first gondola then the second gondola, do the scenic walk and then take the train back up.

Yelp
Yes it is overpriced, yes there are tons of tourists and the place is packed but you shouldn't miss this attraction. I did the skyway, railway and cableway and found each to be a different experience so would recommend all 3. The skyway and cableway provide amazing views you can't get elsewhere in the mountains. I did most of the bushwalks and due to the height and location of where the cableways are placed, you get a breathtaking view. You are surrounded by clear glass so can see 360 degrees and even below you (note if you are afraid of heights this is a bad idea). The scenic railway is a straight decent 415m which leads you to the scenic walkway. This wasn't as great as the bushwalks but doesn't take long to do and there are some cute things like an old coal mine along the way. Great for kids, adults, hikers, nature lovers. i loved it
