Literally the worst subscription experience I’ve EVER had. I’m 47 years old. Can you imagine how many subscriptions of everything from magazines to apps that I’ve had? I chose Scentbox over Scentbird because of a Reddit post that was extremely detailed. I never do anything for myself. I have had the year from hell. If you can imagine it, it probably happened to me in the last year. So, I promised myself that I would do one thing for me. It was this subscription. I would post a picture of the first atomizer that I got, but I immediately returned it for my one free exchange (because I didn’t like the smell) and have NOTHING in return. It was a Versace perfume that I had heard a lot of good things about, but it wasn’t me. That has nothing to do with how bad my experience has been with them. I sent that perfume back and I am now into the next month and have not gotten my exchange back. The first perfume that they sent me took two weeks to get to me. When I sent the exchange, my account continued to say that they were waiting on the package (the customer service rep actually sent me how to track it like I was a dolt only for me to reply that I looked and they had received it days ago) until I emailed them and BCCed the cofounders. I did that because the first customer service representative that responded to me sounded as if we were in the courtroom and she was putting me in my place. I know that feeling because I’m a retired paralegal. So, I’m now into May and have still not gotten an April perfume so I put my card on hold for that account. When I got an email saying that they were having difficulty charging me, I responded to let them know that when I got my exchange I would take the hold off my card. Their response has been consistent and the same every single time I’ve spoken to them: they don’t give a crap - it is what it is. It is the worst customer service I’ve ever come into contact with, and I used to have Comcast cable; so, that’s saying something. Because this was the one thing I was doing for myself, this is more than just a griping customer. People have become so desensitized to the fact that each one of us not only has a life, but have things we’re going through. In an economy, such as the one we have right now, where groceries are twice what they should be, when somebody chooses a luxury item, it should be a pleasant experience. The customer service representatives should be appreciative that they have a job in an industry that is not necessary. That attitude (good or bad) trickles down from management. The shipments should not take two weeks when I’m in Georgia and they’re in California. How do I know that? Because my cousin lives in LA And we ship things. The very cheapest shipment would’ve gotten here in less than two weeks. The thing I am left with, though, is the unbelievable callousness and lack of… humanity and sensitivity that anyone seems to have there at that company. Their attitude is “this is what it is and if you don’t like it unsubscribe.“ So, I unsubscribed.

I could never scroll on their website, it made it too time consuming to search. I tried different browsers, devices, etc. They tried to tell me it was my fault. Their customer service just kept throwing out generic "solutions", none of which worked. I asked to be escalated to tech support but never was, I don't think that they even have tech support. They have a good selection but I couldn't deal with their website, and they don't have an app. I ended up going with Scentbird, at least their website works.

Long story short I signed up Dec.7th(the day that they bill you) They created a shipping label on Dec. 9th. They supposedly ship thier products every month on the 14th. They waited until the 14th to send an email stating it was a product delay problem and that it should be shipped 4-5 business days. They didnt ship it until dec.30th. Claiming that the product wont be here until the 7th of January. So No, 30 days to receive a sample size perfume bottle is not worth raving about @ $16.95 a month.

I don’t know what happened to the company but they are not doing good! I bought a full bottle of a fragrance and after 10 days of no news from them I decided to email them! The answer was that they don’t have the item in stock and I had to wait another 10 days for them to get the cologne in order to ship it. I asked for my refund and now is 4 days since that and no refund yet!

If you want cheap designer fragrances made with cancer poison, go with Scent Bird. If you want top quality,$800 niche fragrances, made with natural ingredients, you use Scentbox. You get what you pay for. I've been a frag head for over a decade. I signed up for scentbird ASSUMING they'd have some decent frags. Once I scrolled through everything and got to the end, I realized they didn't have a single fragrance I wanted. I picked two they claimed were niche, they're not btw, got them delivered, and immediately canceled. If you're a high schooler who just wants some Armani Code or Versace Eros, scentbird is fine. If you're older than 30 and now have acquired, more refined tastes in fashion, and the like, you go with scent box. When you choose the platinum box you will be able to choose from frags that have real oud, ambergris, and natural oils. This is the stuff that's on the shelves at stores most people have never heard of for $500+ a bottle. You aren't going to get Xerjoff, PDM, Fredericke Malle, Roja Dove, or Eccentric Molecules at Nordstrom or Macy's. Another major selling point for scentbox is that you can return one scent per month for a different one if you don't like it. That way, you'll eventually have a collection of frags that you like and none you don't want.

This is actually my second time signing up for ScentBox. The selection of fragrances is by far the best out of all the available subscription services. And, I also think the pricing is very fair for the quality/quantity/presentation. The last time I stopped my subscription because the interface is very frustrating to use. Especially the way the search feature is setup. I received an email back from one of the co-founders saying "...We are working to launch our more user friendly website in the near future and truly appreciate your suggestions, comments." Hoping "near future" actually means soon.

For those who want to try out different colognes without committing to a full-size bottle, ScentBox is the best option. With its high-quality selection and generous plans that provide more value for your money, ScentBox stands out from other subscription services. Monthly access to designer and specialty fragrances at a fraction of retail prices is provided by their Premium Plan, which is an excellent investment. They also ensure that you always find something you like by making it simple to switch scents if you are not in love with one. You can up your fragrance game in a personalized and hassle-free way with ScentBox.

I highly recommend that everyone gives Scent Box a try. The founders email you to say thank you and ask for your feedback and ideas. They're very friendly and genuinely caring young men. Keep in mind that everyone has different tastes in scents just as we all have different tastes in food and everything else, so if you post about Scent Box, please be respectful to the company and customers..as you want to be respected. Don't say things like 'It smells like an old woman ' which is disrespectful to all older women. Just state that it's not to your liking, this is the mature way. Scent Box is a wonderful company and I wish them all the best. Give them a try, I promise you won't be disappointed. God bless you. Elva Petrosky
