Friendly staff, located at top of hill opposite bottom lift on nursery slope. The drinks menu was extensive with good cocktails. The food was absolutely delicious, I can highly recommend this restaurant.

Schäferstube is situated at the higher residential district of Saas Fee, close to the top of the button lift from Felskin area. From the high street turn up the hill at the church and keep walking up (Slowly!). Trust me. Worth the effort. The restaurant layout is very traditional wooden cabin with various small rooms and tables. The kitchen is so close to the tables you can smell the food as its being prepared. For main course, i had the Sea Bass and Scallop which was a generous enough size but beautifully cooked. The dish is prepared with Celery, Sticky Rice and a fruity bisque. My guests ordered the Rib Eye which was generous (Approx 200-300g). Both dishes priced at CHF44 & CHF 49 respectively. For dessert, the Valhrona Chocolate cake and mousse was particularly popular at the table. Light delicate and rich and at CHF17 the Valhrona was sublime and good value. We drank a bottle of Vinum Lignum CabernetFranc 2022 which was excellent, both with the fish and steak. Overall, very classy, good value (for Switzerland and Skiing regions generally), very friendly and informative service. Would highly recommend to any "foodie". They also serve a set menu which looks fantastic. Looking forward to returning again.

Six of us grabbed lunch here. You need to walk to the start of the hiking trail, the mountain view makes it totally worth it. Once you see the church, head up the hill—it’s a clear sign you're getting close to the restaurant. I had my meal on the terrace, though the inside of the restaurant is really cute too. We enjoyed homemade rösti (which I loved because it reminded me of a Korean potato dish), along with cordon bleu, sausages, a pulled pork burger, and fish and chips. I tried a little bit of everything: the burger and fish and chips were both great, the cordon bleu was a tad salty but worked fine with the veggies, and the sausages were a bit too meaty—maybe a side salad would have helped. Overall, the food was fantastic, and I'd say this is one of the best restaurants in Saas-Fee.

At times one wonders whether certain young restaurateurs have mistaken hospitality for theatre — the kind in which the paying guests are cast as potential criminals. Such was the spectacle at the recent Genussmeile, where a particular proprietress, scarcely out of her youth, decided to publicly insinuate that we — her loyal patrons — might be plotting to steal her wine glasses 😱. The absurdity would be comic, were it not so vulgar. Our family and friends have dined at her establishments on numerous occasions, each time parting with several hundred Swiss Francs for two, and doing so gladly. To imagine that those who have repeatedly demonstrated both loyalty and means would be reduced to pilfering her rather unremarkable glassware, is the kind of leap in judgement one expects from gossip at a village market, not from the supposed custodian of fine dining. Her manner of service is equally theatrical: smiles and deference bestowed only upon those who fling money conspicuously, while others are treated with little more than suspicion. Whether she recognises her guests or not is immaterial — what is unforgivable is her readiness to substitute grace with arrogance, and courtesy with insult. One is tempted to conclude that the only thing more fragile than her wine glasses is her understanding of true hospitality. For the discerning diner, there are far finer establishments in Switzerland where respect does not come with a price tag. This one, we recommend avoiding altogether. Excellent Food & atmosphere. The most delicate restaurant in Saas-Fee combining top ingredients with locally inspired products like flowers and handpicked herbs from the mountain. The view from the terrace is impeccable: 180°sunny glaciers and 4000-er peaks extend straight from the terrace. A cozy but stylish interior reflect the drive from charming Simone to create the best scene for Chef Daniel’s cuisine.

We went for dinner and the whole thing was great! Simone explained some of the history of the building when we arrived and she and the other waitress were super friendly. On top of that the food was very tasty - great balance of flavours and textures. Highly recommended. Edit: We went back for lunch 2 days later. The food was still good, but there is also a small lunch menu that is a little more casual. The staff remembered us and our plans for the weekend and inquired how it all went, what a nice feeling.

Went back again feb 2020 and very disappointing. It’s slimmed the menu and gone super fancy with small expensive portions. They charged 8chf for 2 kinder syrup with kids meals! The kids schnitzels were too over cooked and chewy. Service could not be faulted though, definitely high end. Loved that they used my name. Sister restaurant Waldhaus bodman is so much better for families and the food has bigger portions with better accompaniments! But if you are looking for fancy multi course expensive meal come here. Road up was super icy so be careful on the way down or order a taxi.
