This hotel is in a fantastic spot, and the staff is incredibly kind and helpful. However, the building is a bit old and could use some refreshing. I also had an issue with no hot water one evening.

We spent four nights at the hotel. We had rooms overlooking the lake, which was wonderful. The staff were very helpful throughout or stay. The room we had was a good size, although the shower was a bit snug. Wi fi is provided and the rooms are kept very clean. The breakfast is fine, although the arrangements for tea making seem to date from the 1920's.

The only way to eat in this restaurant during the COVID lockdown was to book a room in the hotel. Fortunately, we were able to get a room and enjoy two exquisite dinners over the weekend.||Our window seating at the Lord Nelson, the hotel’s indoor restaurant, offered a great view of the lakefront. It enabled us to enjoy the sight of memorable sunsets over the mountains. ||On the first evening, we ordered a menu which consisted of a salad and a classic perch filet served with French fries. The perch from Lake Constance were the best that I have ever tasted.

On this sunny October Sunday, we took the precaution of reserving a table at the Lord Nelson restaurant, which belongs to the Hotel Schiff am See. We were given a table with a good view of the lake. We opted for the perch filet which is normally served with boiled potatoes. My wife wanted French fries and the waiter agreed to this request. The perch was absolutely the best that I have eaten and the waiter, a gentle Portuguese, informed us that they were from Lake Constance – a Swiss lake. We can only recommend this restaurant for top quality regional cuisine.

Good location on the Murten See, but only a few minutes walk (uphill) to the historic town centre.||We arrived at 2pm on a sunny Saturday, there were no parking spaces in either of the 2 public car parks next to the hotel, so we had to use a different one further away, 5 minute walk, but as we were only there with overnight travel bags it was not a problem.||Check in was friendly and quick, we had to go back to reception to get the Wi-Fi code as this was not given at check in.||We had room 16, A nice double room with lake view. There was a fan in the room and the room temperature was ok. Also complimentary bottle of mineral water. ||Beds were a little soft for my taste, but you can't please everyone. Room was clean, There was a flat screen TV, never turned it on.. Minibar, seemed well stocked, but we didn't use. ||Room lighting was good, and bedside lamps, also spare power points. ||Wi-Fi worked well, but disconnects and requires passcode every time you leave it for any time. ||No safe in room. ||A large bathroom, with a very powerful walk in shower. Toiletries looked liked refilled bottles, which is fine, but you should probably stop refilling them and replace them when they start to look like refilled bottles.||Breakfast was simple continental, nice fresh bread, cereals, cheese, ham, jam, croissants, coffee, tea, juice etc. a reasonable enough selection.||Check out quick and efficient.||A little bit pricey, but it was high season in Switzerland.||Overall a good stay.

Stayed for 3 nights for business. Room had 2 single beds not a double/queen. Very nice views out to the lake. Very clean and tidy room. What let it down was the shower over the bath was affected by the roofline and was so low I had to kneel to have a shower! Room price included a continental breakfast and wireless internet which was quite slow. The staff were really very nice and friendly|Great position right next to the lake and minutes from the Main Street and restaurants

The restaurant has a huge terrace and every seat is accounted for on this beautiful summer day. We were lucky to arrive before the clamouring crowds. We had been here many times before arriving by boat from Neuchâtel and we knew what we wanted : perch filets. We ordered one salad to start knowing that it was enough for the two of us, two main courses and one dessert. The food is good but we liked particularly was our waiter, so efficient and friendly. When his intense service was easing out, I asked him where he is from : Portugal where he has a degree in microbiology. "But," he said, "I'm a working man and take any job I can get."
