In summary, if you book this for your Munich stay you won’t go far wrong for the price - I liked it.||Pros|- location is great for metro, tram, bus and train links. Buy a 1 day pass on the MVV app €9.50 and you can zip around all day.|- rooms bigger than average for a city centre hotel with handy kitchenette|- quiet|- lovely staff|- great breakfast buffet||Cons|- no hotel bar|- station area is quite run down and seedy (but didn’t feel unsafe) and is undergoing major building work and renovation at the moment

The staff is wonderful - front desk people were friendly and always had a full candy jar! Breakfast was great, with lots of variety and freshly made Cappaccino! Our room was very nice and always clean when we returned. This hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to Karlsplatz 21, where all the tour buses depart. We also enjoyed 2 restaurants very close to the hotel - Altmunchner Gesellenhaus on Adolf-Kolping Strasse and Schiller Brau - at 23 Schiller Strasse. Both had excellent food and service. Schiller Brau brews their beer on site. Prost!!

Schiller5 Hotel, Munich – Excellent Amenities, but Location Concerns ⭐⭐⭐⭐ During my recent stay at Schiller5 Hotel in Munich, I was impressed by the spacious and well-appointed rooms. Each room includes a complimentary minibar stocked daily with beer, water, soda, and orange juice, adding a thoughtful touch to the accommodation. The staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive, contributing to a pleasant experience. Breakfast offered a variety of hot and cold options, all well-prepared and satisfying. However, the hotel’s location presents some challenges. Situated near Munich’s central train station, the area is known for its proximity to the red-light district, which some guests have described as seedy or rough. The presence of groups loitering and an overall uneasy atmosphere made returning to the hotel after dark less comfortable. While the hotel itself is secure, the surrounding environment may not appeal to all travelers. In summary, Schiller5 Hotel excels in comfort, amenities, and service. However, potential guests should consider the neighborhood dynamics when booking. If the location were different, it would be an outstanding choice, but due to the surrounding area’s ambiance, I might explore other options for future stays.

Great location, just a short walk to central train station, the tour buses and pedestrian center.|Very helpful reception desk staff plus great daily breakfast. Our room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. If we ever go back to Munich we will surely return to Schiller 5 Hotel.

The location is extremely close to the city centre, however, it’s in the red light district. Though I found Schiller5 a nice and clean hotel, good breakfast (simple but good enough). All the drinks in the fridge are free of charge, and the receptionist are all friendly and being nice and helpful. The only thing I don’t like is the mattress, whenever I toss and turn, the mattress squeaks, and it certainly bothers me. Overall, this hotel is good.

Despite the look from the outside with construction everywhere I was exceptionally happy with my stay here. Cleaning staff went above & beyond & should be commended for their attention to detail. Breakfast was simple but really nice. Excellent value for money, highly recommend.

The team at Schiller5 makes you feel very welcome! Their special touches like a welcome note, greeting as you enter and general helpfulness keep me coming back. The rooms are comfortable and quite spacious. Love the convenience of free mini bar in the room, and the breakfast is delish!

Due to a railway accident, we had to spend a night in Munich. Fortunately, when we arrived at the hotel in the midnight , there were still rooms available. The front desk staff was very patient and friendly, and the hotel was exceptionally clean, tidy, and well-equipped. This is the hotel I most recommend in Munich.

Yelp
I loved my stay at this hotel! Location: When you pull up to the hotel, you might notice the gentleman's clubs and gambling houses but honestly, I never felt unsafe walking to and from the hotel at any hour of the day. The location is extremely close, less than 5 minutes walking to Munich Central Train Station. About a 20 minute walk to Marienplatz. Room: We showed up a little early but got lucky with an early check-in since they finished cleaning our room early. It was really clean! Not a single suspect hair leftover that I could see. Everything in the mini-fridge is complimentary. There was still and sparking water, beer, cola, and either apple or orange juice. The room was also stocked with Ronnefeldt brand tea (German made and the same they have at breakfast) and coffee. There were also gummies left on the pillow. We had two twin beds and our room was configured so these were tucked back into an alcove which was nice and snug. The mattresses and duvets were pretty amazing. Insanely comfortable. The duvet was incredibly warming, so much so that we were able to leave the window open a smidge in the winter. All of the lights in the room can be controlled by the bed. The bathroom toiletries were mostly of the Rituals brand which smelled great. A rainfall showerhead and handheld shower were available. There was even a heated towel rack! The room was big enough for us to have both our suitcases open and still walk around comfortably. Front-Desk: The front-desk staff were all very helpful. They helped us map out routes to points of interest, deciphering our tickets and coordinating with our tour groups, and helped us with getting supplies when we ran out (tissue and water when it wasn't restocked). There was usually fruit (either apples or oranges) available at the front-desk. Sometimes there were chocolates. Breakfast: The breakfast staff were realllly amazing. A special shoutout to Merita (I hope the spelling is correct)! I think she managed the breakfast service. She was so friendly and after a few days remembered my coffee order! She always made my latte with a chocolate stencil which made it extra special. It was really chaotic in the mornings with everyone coming and going, but she managed to keep the buffet stocked and spotless. The actual breakfast itself was actually very good for a free breakfast. The menu changes a tiny bit each day but you'll find a hot food section with eggs and protein, granola and yogurt bar area, charcuterie area, and pastry area. The croissants were amazing! Honestly better than any I've had in Canada. The pretzels they had were also a sleeper pick. They managed to be soft even though they kinda just hung out there. I'd 100% recommend this hotel and definitely stay here again for my next trip!

Yelp
Just spent a night here on our Christmas market tour with friends. Gorgeous hotel. Small(ish) but great size rooms. The staff were amazing in every department. Loved my little check in girl. Nice little happy hour social time. Best of all was getting to be greeted by the lively owner, spending time with him, hearing his story and sharing a beer (at 8am). Hahaha. Delightful. Highly recommend this hotel for location, comfort, style and service

Yelp
After one cancelled flight out of London City, and then another one delayed departing Heathrow, plus time spent in the plane on the ground in Munich waiting for the snow plow, I was pretty beat when I arrived at the Schiller 5. A single staff member manned the desk when I walked in and he continued talking on the telephone for many minutes before finally hanging up to check me in. This annoyance was my first impression of the hotel but thankfully things mostly got better from that point. My room on the sixth floor was spacious and included a kitchenette. The mini fridge contained still and sparkling water, orange juice, Coca Cola and a beer, all gratis. The room was plenty warm and the window opened completely such that I was able to climb out and see the city's snow-covered roof tops. That was probably my favourite bit about my stay at the Schiller 5. The wifi, while free, was not intuitive to connect to and fairly slow. The neighbourhood is a touch seedy (strip clubs, sex shops and the like line the street) but it is very central and if you arrive late in the evening there are still plenty of quick options for food. All told, Schiller 5 was solid enough for me to consider returning. And if you can get it for under €100/night, it's good value too.

Yelp
My family and I stayed here for 2 nights. This place is wonderful. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is very comfortable. It is located within easy walking distance from the main train station. And although it is close to the station it is offset from the street just enough to be very peaceful.. Breakfast was included and is delicious. When we return to Munich we will definitely stay here again. Each morning at breakfast the hotel owner came around to say hello and to make sure we were all OK. I cannot say enough about this hotel and am grateful we booked here.

Yelp
So I got to say I was really impressed with this place. You know how it is, you get off the train, walk a few blocks past a pawn shop, a family restaurant, and followed by a few strip joints and so on. Then mixed among them all is this glowing, in a bunch of rotating colors and patterns, large 5. Sort of thought it would be a nightclub from the exterior. I was warned about the scene but it was just too awesome to not mention. Anyways the place is pretty great. I mean a clean bed, a stylish (for my standards anyways) room. Free Coffee, free soda, orange juice and bottled water in the room. Complementary wine and coffee is available downstairs too. Pretty spacious rooms. Bathroom is clean and cleaned well daily. I mean how can you say no. Breakfast in the morning was pretty good too. Fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs (hard boiled too), sausages, smoked salmon, bacon, vegis, a large selection of cheeses. Overall pretty delicious and much welcomed in the morning. Service was really friendly as well. Wifi or (Wlan) is included with the place, but it's sort of slow. Like it was almost hard just checking email sometimes. Not swanky or anything but totally would do as a decent place to stay. And heck you are like a block away from the center of Munich.

Yelp
Good location. Walking distance to everything. I think I will stay here whenever in Munich. For a just a little bit more than a regular room, we got this huge suite with two bathrooms with two separate showers and a bath tub, kitchen/ living room and separate bedroom. Maybe not the most modern looking room, however everything was clean and nice and perfect for our stay. Lots of wardrobes. The breakfast was complementary and just perfect. Lots of fresh and healthy food. Also staff were great.

Yelp
A huge shoutout to Leo Milchiker the owner of the Schiller 5 Hotel and Boardinghouse in Munich, Germany, We stayed here at the hotel for 10 days! It was a wonderful experience! The room was lovely and updated shower in our room! The breakfast every morning was spectacular and many delicious choices. It was buffet style! You could have as much as you want. Delicious coffee. You also had a choice of a latte or cappuccino too! Also this hotel is about a 4 minute walk to the major train station and about a 4 minute walk to the our meet up place for our Grayline tours from Munich! I highly recommend this hotel! This place is fantastic! Sincerely, Susan King

Yelp
This was a nice boutique hotel with a fun vibe. The rooms and bed were very decent and the price was moderate. Their parking lot was defunct when I came, so we had to park down the road in a parking lot, I called in to get guidance on the phone. The surrounding area has a "red light district" vibe with nearby strip joints and colorful characters on the weekends, but we felt pretty safe. A nice walk to the main squares of downtown. A nice old man who said he was the owner came out to chat with everyone during the breakfast, maybe he was a little forgetful (he talked to us twice as if new the same morning) but he was very nice an set a home-like mood! Professional staff were there to help all the time.

Yelp
This was a pretty good hotel, great location, clean, etc. My major drawback was that our room stunk like cigarettes. Our first night I assumed someone had slyly smoked in there, but the next day I realized, there was an ashtray in the room! I almost knocked my review down to 3 stars for this reason, but decided I liked everything else enough to keep it at a 4. If you think this might bother you, consider asking the front desk if they have any non-smoking rooms. I wished that I had, but it didn't fully click until the second day, and I didn't want to be an inconvenience!

Yelp
UNEQUIVOCALLY the best hotel I have ever stayed in!!!!!! When staying at at any hotel in Europe, the expectation is usually that the rooms will be tiny. Not here! Big room with a king sized bed, a desk and a little kitchenette. The bathroom was small (definitely only room for 1 person at a time) but was modern, clean and the shower was FANTASTIC! But the real reasons I wish I could move in: the breakfast. It was a beautiful and extensive buffet with fresh breads, cheeses, meats, fruit, vegetables, salads, juice, coffee, eggs, pancakes and the warmest fluffiest freshest pretzels I have ever had. In the evening - FREE WINE in the lobby. And it was self-serve so you could have as much as you like! The staff was welcoming and kind. Location: ok maybe there was a strip club next door, but I didn't feel unsafe or like it was particularly "seedy". It's a city. That's how cities are. And it was only a couple minute walk to the train station so the location was perfect to me.

Yelp
I liked this hotel, but it's not really clear how this is considered a 4-star property. I'd say it's a solid 3-star property. PROS: -Everything was very clean -The bed was comfortable -The staff was wonderful and the old man who seems to be the owner was friendly -Convenient location close to central train station and a short walk from the city center -The breakfast was good -The few free bottles of beer, juice, and water in the room fridge every day was a nice touch -Free wifi worked well CONS: -The interior, furnishings, and fixtures were not luxurious at all and seemed to be remnants of the 1990s -The single elevator was slow -The layout of the bathroom was awkward -- the door swings of the bathroom door and the shower door created functionality problems and person-movement problems -I don't care how nice the products inside them are, giant shared squeeze bottles of soap in the shower and at the bathroom sink are gross in concept -The area around the hotel is a bit seedy, but it's okay because it's still a safe area and most of Munich's affordable hotels are in this area IN SUMMARY: Not amazing, but might be the best hotel in the area (based on price, cleanliness, and staff)

Yelp
The location of this hotel in relation to the city and train station is fantastic. Every morning we'd take the 2 minute walk to the train station and get our yummy German pastries and coffee for breakfast because most restaurants don't even open here until 10. It was so nice to have the train station nearby so we could get an easy early morning or late night snack. The street the hotel is on isn't the nicest...it's in an area where a lot of migrants like to hang out. If you just walk like you know where you're going, you'll be fine. You only have to walk a few minutes and you're in the heart of the main shopping area in the city and Marienplatz. We loved the little kitchenette in the room. They give you free still and bubbly water, soda, and oj and a beer every day the room is cleaned, so that was a nice touch. The room is quite spacious and the windows open so it was nice to keep them open at night to let the fresh air in.

Yelp
The hotel is very well located near the main train station. The area is a bit sketchy after dark (it's in the red light district) but it's not an issue unless you bring kids. The staff is very polite and the breakfast is quite good. The hotel is under renovations during summer of 2015. It's not very noisy but the hotel didn't inform us of this with until after the cancellation deadline, which I consider poor form. The hotel WiFi has a limit on max concurrent connections. So even if you have purchased WiFi access you may be out of luck. I couldn't connect for hours and the front desk was not helpful (not even picking up the phone at times). The worst part of our experience was the nonfunctional A/C unit. Specifically, it was operating but you couldn't change the temperature and the existing setting left you to sweat through the night. Very unfortunate experience. A friend of mine had a similar experience at another Munich hotel so perhaps this is not uncommon, but regardless I'd say you can find much better value at other hotels.
