Schloss Hotel Thun

We had been looking forward to our stay, but unfortunately it did not meet our expectations in several areas. Noise: Our room was located above the kitchen, and the extractor fan was so loud that the whole room vibrated. Sleeping was very difficult, and even our baby could not rest. Room condition: The phone did not work, the bed squeaked with every movement, and the coffee machine was broken. There were also stains on the wall that gave the impression that cleaning was not done thoroughly. The room itself was rather small and did not resemble the advertised photos. Bathroom: No ventilation and no window. Breakfast: Although several tables with a view were available, we were not allowed to sit there and were placed at an uncomfortable corner table instead. Our breakfast only arrived after more than 30 minutes and repeated reminders, even though the dining room was not busy. Service: We raised some of these issues during our stay (at reception and during breakfast), but unfortunately nothing was improved. On a positive note, the location and the view from our room were lovely. However, given the overall experience and the price level, our stay was quite disappointing and fell short of what we had hoped for.

We stayed at the castle rooms here - had to book in advanced, price is very reasonable, magical for the kids, breakfast is included with a special welcome drink and coupon for lunch/dinner. Food is wonderful, service is great, spa / sauna is well kept. If you are getting here from the train station there is a rainbow tunnel to elevators from the street so you don’t need to take the stairs, this town has such wonderful people you can ask anyone who’s extremely kind. This is an independently run small business, so as long as you’re mindful of helping them keep such a wonderful place running for other families to also enjoy, it’s a special place. We are an Asian-American family, so not sure what they mean by other reviews they were nothing but very respectful to us.

Wonderful spot. Fab views. Newly renovated rooms. Coffee machine in room. Bar downstairs, decent breakfast. ||There are steps to the old town or a lift.||Parking requires some inside info. Park in the Schlossberg parking and take the lift up. That is as close as you can get.

Lovely views from terrace over the lake.|Fantastic service. We felt very much at home.|Of course, some very delicious food. Cordon blue with apricot in the middle was delicious. There are some things that will stay with you a lifetime and our stay at Schloss Hotel Castle Thun will definitely be one of them. We spent 4 wonderful nights here with a view that truly reduced me to tears, at the sheer beauty of it from our window. The hotel itself is clean, well thought out, robe and slippers, fresh fruit on arrival, breakfast included, welcome drinks, quiet rooms yet close enough to walk to town within 3 minutes at the most. We made use of the complementary sauna / spa and foot soak too. The hotel has a quaint bar and restaurant with terrace, home to some of the finest and nicest food we had eaten in Switzerland. The service from Yannick in the restaurant was also wonderful, he was attentive and helpful. The gentleman at the front desk, we apologise as we cannot recall your name but he assisted us in guiding us to visit Neiderhorn mountain which was an incredible day and he also organised discount cards for us, you were so kind and helpful and we are very thankful for your service and warm hospitality. The castle itself is a must to tour, 5 levels steeped in rich history and made our stay all the more special. Please do yourself a favour and book a room here with a view of the lake. Great service, checking in was fun and inviting. Hotel is clean and in an amazing location. Spa was private, inviting, and an incredible experience. Herbert has been fantastic!

This was our favorite lodging of our trip and I wish that we stayed longer than a single night. Everything was perfect. We received a welcome glass of bubbly when checking in, stayed in the panorama room, and had access to the private spa downstairs. The spa is absolutely gorgeous, very relaxing, and sparkling clean. Every detail was perfect and I want to go back to Switzerland just to stay here again.

Incredible location than cannot be beat. If you are staying in a castle in Thun, stay here! My friend actually stayed here a few months before me and based on her experience, I booked right away. The views are incredible, it’s historic, and the staff are so friendly! It’s also reasonably priced! You get a welcome drink on arrival, breakfast included, can book the spa area (privately!) for free, and there is a free car service that picks you up from the Thun train station (when arranged in advance). The food was delicious and some of the most creative dishes I had in Switzerland. My husband and I stayed in the tower room and it was romantic. The only down sides were that room does not have central air. But the staff brought me a fan so quickly when they heard I was feeling warm. Also, there are a lot of pigeons that land on the window sills and you can hear the cooing. I really don’t like birds so that was challenging for me. But that’s a me problem!
