Schloss Lieser

Just finished a short weekend stay and it was phenomenal. The castle is stunning, both the building and the grounds are meticulously kept. Prior to out arrival I emailed the hotel about possible wine tastings, they usually have some on the premises but the day we were there they did not have enough participants to go forward with the tasting. However, Mark from the front office provided us with a lot of local recommendations and we did go to a local wine producer and had a great tasting there (and bought a lot of wine :). Seamless check-in, we enjoyed our welcome drink in the beautiful adjacent library, followed by Mark giving us a tour of the property and all the information about the hotel. Very professional and personal at the same time. It was my birthday and there was a delicious chocolate cake waiting in the room along a birthday card. We also received a complimentary upgrade due to my Bonvoy status to a fabulous junior suite overlooking both the river and the vineyard. The room was tastefully grandiose, old world charm meets modern amenities. The pool and spa area is also lovely, very clean and beautifully done. Breakfast is served in the Orangerie, plentiful buffet and some a la carte options. I had eggs benedict and it was very tasty. Thank you, Schloss Lieser, we will be back.

We had great stay at Schloss Lieser. Our room was spacious and clean and the building is really stunning. All the staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was delicious, as was all the food we ordered from the restaurant and bar. It is a nice choice if you want to explore this area. Berncastle is just down the road and there is the path along the Mosel River. Trier is about 30 mins, Frankfurt airport is an easy 90 minute drive but you arrive feeling transported to another world.

The property is beautiful, and staying in the castle was a unique experience. I did feel that this wasn’t quite at the same level as other Autograph Collection hotels. The castle has a lot of history, but there isn’t much information available about it. The small church inside to the right has a sign explaining its background, and I think adding more signs like that around the castle would be great. It would be nice to know what each room was used for and see some old photos. My favorite area was the library room. Dinner was fantastic. Breakfast was ok, but the guacamole toast didn’t look very appealing (a few sliced red onions and a sliced tomato on top of a sliced avocado). I wish I had taken a picture of it, but the omlete was great! The herbal stamp massage was fantastic. The Sauna area should put lemon, mint, cucumber or something in the tap water they serve. And the dirty towels were piled so high you had to toss it on the floor, not in the bin. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.

Liked · The hotel is stunning - the drive up, the exterior, the interior, the staff it was all incredibly good. We travel a lot and when we entered the building there was great feel about the hotel. The gentleman on reception was incredibly friendly and helpful. He was keen to attend to our bags and welcomed us with a glass of champagne in the library whilst we sat and filled in our details. He told us a little about the building and what was available to us whilst we stayed. We had a lovely "wind-down" in one of the small rooms just through the dining rooms. It was a great way to relax before heading back out for dinner. When we returned it was nice to relax in the bar and sample a local cocktail the Mohsel Mule. The staff were super attentive, friendly and knowledgable. The receptionist was kind enough to let us take a sneaky peak at the wine cellar in the hotel just before we left.||Disliked · The only two things that I would have changed about the hotel were the stairs to the bathroom... we were told that we had been given a very special room (as had our friends... right next door) with "some stairs" to the bedroom... turns out it was a large spiral staircase up to the bathroom. Don't get me wrong, the room was lovely - although it would have been nice to have had a desk in there. But clambering up and down that was a bit inconvenient. The other thing was the temperature of the pool - it was too cold for our liking - we were a little disappointed that'll we couldn't stay in there longer due to the temperature.

We didn't stay. We were planning to stop in the next city but couldn't stop us after seeing this building. Its beautiful. The walk around the river is highly recommended. With beautiful winter sun it seemed like a paradise. Ample parking. 1st hour is free and that is sufficient. We tried to explore the town but it was all closed at it was 26 dec.

Hotel was beautiful. All the rooms and decor throughout was wonderful. Many rooms were open for lounging. Food we had in the restaurants were great. There is really no shops nearby, some wine houses in Lieser. Nearby town Bernkastel had shops and more restaurants. We stayed during low season so very quiet around the towns. Beautiful fall colors end of October. Front desk staff could be more informed on details about the area and activities.

Lovely location if your exploring the Mosel River Valley. The reception we received, late night arrival, was less than stellar and left us searching for our room in the cold, dark, rainy night. Very disappointed in the customer service. In our cottage room, we found the bed very welcoming and comfortable as well as the large bathroom. Great shower even though the door did not close completely. The sofa in the living room area looked drab, dingy and did not compliment the room's decor. Outstanding Sea Bass in the bar! Perfect sear and the seasoning was spot on! Kudos to the chef. Breakfast was plentiful and eggs to order are yummy.

Had my wedding here and Jessica Cullman and her team was absolutely amazing to work with and set everything up and made the experience just wonderful. The rooms are a bit small but it’s a wonderful old building and you truly feel like you’re staying in a castle. The food was great and the servers were amazing. We stayed for four days as an entire wedding party of 20+ people. The spa was fantastic as well.

What an amazing property! The pics online are beautiful but when you drive up to the property in person, it's breathtaking. Staff is super accommodating too. Food in the hotel is delicious. The breakfast is worth the cost, just wished I was hungrier in the morning to sample everything! Also had dinner on the patio and it was amazing. Ordered the hamachi for appetizer and cote du boeuf for our main meal. Should have skipped the hamachi because there was so much food for the main course. The beef was amazing, best steak dinner to date. There was so much flavor in the beef, didn't need any of the bernaise sauce but the sauce was still great. Dining options outsized the hotel are limited. More options with a quick drive to Bernkastel-Kues. Parking across the street is a cheaper option. There's also a Netto grocery store on the other side of the river if you need to grab any snacks. Great experience!

This was an amazing, one of a kind experience and stay that I will never forget! The castle turned hotel has been preserved and is absolutely stunning, regal and opulent. Original artwork and other decor adorn the hallways and rooms. We had the pleasure of staying in a suite that overlooked the castle grounds and the Moselle river. We walked into our room to find a lovely handwritten postcard, a complimentary bottle of their local wine and delicious macaroons from the hotel staff... we felt like royalty. We enjoyed a couple glasses of wine at the terrace cafe and then wandered around the town. One of the highlights of the stay was the stunning indoor pool and various saunas available in the spa area. There were 4-5 different sauna rooms that ranged in temperature to accommodate your comfort level, and tried them all! The hotel offers breakfast on-site, showcasing an excellent breakfast buffet or eggs made to order.
