Schloss Prielau Hotel & Restaurant, a Design Boutique Hotel Zell am See, Austria

"The historic Schloss Prielau (Prielau Castle) is located on the northern shore of Lake Zell, surrounded by a park and only 220 yards from the lake. First mentioned in 1425, Prielau Castle was turned into a luxury hotel in the late 1980s. Behind the castle there are ponds for fish farming and a pen for raising deer. The spire of a beautiful baroque chapel rises above the towers of the castle at a discreet distance. In addition to 2 gourmet restaurants, Hotel Schloss Prielau lets you enjoy a spa area with sauna, steam bath and massages in the castle’s “bath house”. There is a private beach on the lake, complete with wooden pier, beach house and comfortable deck chairs. The ski areas of the Europa Sports Region can be reached in only a few minutes." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Schloss Prielau. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated, blending history with modern comfort. Service was immaculate from start to finish — our host Annette and her staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. What made our visit even more special was the vibrant Porsche community we met during our stay. Their passion and camaraderie created such a memorable atmosphere and added a unique touch to the experience.

We selected Schloss Prielau for our small destination wedding. The exclusive use of the venue made the stay very unique and intimate for our guests. Each bedroom and suite was stunning, built with spectacular detail to every finish. Anette and her team were exceptional at ensuring that our guests experienced a one of a kind wedding and overnight stay. She even brought out the sunshine on an otherwise rainy week.

I urge anyone and everyone visiting Zell am See to stay here. Anette is the most gracious host and truly makes this place feel like home. The rooms themselves are beautiful and are fitted with every thoughtful detail you can think of. The breakfast is second to none. Do not hesitate and be sure to book here for your next trip!

If you are looking for a relaxing stay near Zell am See, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The building, built in 1492, is the former hunting lodge of the prince-bishop of Salzburg, and our room was wonderful. The bedroom was large with lovely prints and furniture and a dark wood ceiling and the bed was sooo comfortable, the bathroom was very modern and spacious, there was great water pressure, just all around 10/10 experience. The multilingual staff was very accommodating. They had a beautifully laid out breakfast for us every morning and would offer to make eggs to order. The main restaurant in the hotel was very good, and there is a Michelin starred restaurant on the premises (which we didn't try). The grounds are serene and relaxing. It is a short walk to several restaurants and to a bus stop for easy access to Zell for skiing or more dining/nightlife options. There is a dedicated room with boot and glove dryers and a place to park your skies overnight.

One of my favorite accommodations of all time! Spacious, clean, comfortable, great food, beautiful breakfast, easy paperless checkin, courteous and helpful staff, and many amenities and special touches! Will definitely be back again.

We had an excellent time at Schloss Prielau. We loved everything about our stay - the room, the restaurants, the service, the surrounding nature, but mostly - the host, Anette. I can't find proper words to describe how kind and attentive Anette is. You have to experience it yourself! What I can say is that she'll make you feel like the most special guest at Schloss Prielau. Thanks to her recommendation we visited some of the greatest places in the area, not the usual crowded instagram-y ones. We tasted great food and wine and we had our first gourmet restaurant experience. Which I also recommend if you are visiting in a day when Mayer's restaurant is opened. Surrounding nature is great, the lake is just a few minutes walking distance from the Schloss and there is also a private beach where you can enjoy. Back to Anette - amazing lady, who will make you feel very welcome at this place. And that's how every guest is treated! All of the other staff were also very kind and made us love our stay. I cannot recommend this place enough and would be happy (to say the least) to visit again!

We loved this place. While very old, they have done a great job with keeping the old world charm, while updating comforts, such as updated bathroom, shower, outlet in the drawer under the sink for my hairdryer and the best beds and pillows. The hospitality was fantastic and as we were the only guests our first night there, we were upgraded to a beautiful suite. A short walk to the lake, full of swans and ducks and possibly the best apple strudel of the trip! We liked it so much, we purchased a gift certificate for our son and daughter in law to use this spring, as a Christmas gift.

Pros: This hotel is in a castle and is simply gorgeous! The staff, Annette and Max, were gregarious and helpful. (We loved this place. It was our favorite during our Austrian excursion.) Cons: It's about a ten minute drive to town or a 35-minute walk. However, that might be a "pro," as the location is very quiet.
