A beautiful hotel, with the reception and restaurant areas being in an actual castle. Grounds are gorgeous, and the nearby town is charming. Great location for us to stop in for the night after visiting Bamburgh Castle. ||||Globalist status acknowledged. We were "upgraded" to a "room with a view" as globalists, but apparently that means we were put into the newer part of the hotel, rather than the castle. Both rooms were still extremely well-appointed and clean, with comfortable beds and modern charging stations and both UK and EU outlets. The air conditioner did not work in either rooms. We turned it all the way down, but it never kicked on, and it became stifling until we opened the windows. However, the breakfast was delicious and provided in an elegant setting.||||My only gripe: During checkin, we were promised a 2:00 late checkout. However, we received a call at noon demanding that we vacated the rooms by 1:00. I had just jumped out of the shower with sopping wet hair, and our 3 children were all napping due to still trying to adjust to the jet lag. We had to rush to get out and drive onto our next destination. This came from a different reception staff member; the gentleman who checked us in was very kind and accommodating.

What an amazing overnight stay. Every member of staff we dealt with was incredible. Everyone was so helpful, welcoming and approachable. We arrived early and headed straight to the spa. We got massages which were amazing. Every bit of the spa is fantastic. The relaxation zone is so big and has such a calming feel. I took a book and spent hours there. We were really lucky it was very quiet when we were there. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a casual dinner in the stateroom which was lovely. We both ordered burgers and would recommend. The staff closed our curtains, replenished tea & coffee items and towels whilst we were out having dinner which I thought was an amazing detail. |We have stayed in hotels such as Cameron House etc and thought this was much much better value for money. Already looking for dates for our next visit!

What a highlight to our trip to Scotland. We brought our kids and they sure had a blast. Just know that the pool hours for them are early in the morning. Breakfast is also a highlight. Kids loved the kids club even though others weren’t there. Also had some really nice walks around the facility.

Dinner was lovely, mostly the staff were very nice and the place has a great setting. However, compared with a year ago it’s clear that a few changes have been made to take the shine off the experience. When paying £350+ per night, £150+ per person for dinner & drinks, it feels a little off to then charge a £8 supplement for porridge at a Scottish hotel. While the spa was quite nice, the service wasn’t great. All in all, I’d pick Archerfield in future.

Stayed here for 2 nights - gorgeous setting and very nice rooms. Golf course immaculate and worth a play. Spa area very nice as well perfect space to relax. Only downside was the service in Charlie’s on the Friday night was not 5 star hotel standard. Understaffed and a lot of “floating” staff not serving. Food also nothing to write home about.

An excellent destination venue. Go for a couple of nights, kick back in the spa, hang out in the pool, go for some beautiful walks, eat great food and just have a great time. Difficult to fault in any way shape or form. Staff attentive and professional. Well appointed rooms and a great mix of traditional and contemporary. Probably the best hotel in Scotland at this point in time.

The location is beautiful and serene, the staff is helpful and available. We would have like to have more opportunities to do things on property with children, and more than just one opportunity daily for the kids to use the pool (kids are only allowed in the pool 8am-10am) The pool is nice and warm even when the weather is chilly. The breakfast is spectacular. My kids said it was the best breakfast we had on our whole trip!

Yelp
I was married here in 2011, August. What a dream come true. The staff was welcoming to all of our guests and made us all feel like royalty. The welcoming day we had a piper and great little tea and sandwiches set up. Each room was unique and the building was a dream, like a castle. We played croquette on the lawn and danced in the fountain. The wedding took place in the green house, as to avoid the sprinkling outside. They had two crystal champagne flutes made with our names and wedding date for us to keep and handed them to us as we walked out of the ceremony, what a lovely gesture and a treasure we will keep forever. Had spa services done the morning of and the best meal of my life on my wedding day. I wish I had more time to explore the grounds, but maybe on my anniversary I will head back for more country side adventures. thank you to all!

Yelp
We had a great time here at a friends wedding in June. The Hotel staff was very helpful, the meals were excellent and still included Sottish standards like Haggis and Black Pudding along with the finer innovations in fresh and local one expects in this level of cuisine in todays travel market. We did and I highly recommend a shooting lesson with Alistair and his fine assistant (name escaping, sorry) on their Sporting Clays course. We also did a fly fishing lesson on the pond that was a delight and improved my skills. You really feel like you have had an adventure on a Scottish Estate. The Estate has water on the Tweed that is World Class for Salmon in season as well as other shooting standard in their respective seasons. The stone work and interior architecture and art are everything you could want as was the wedding.
