We recently stayed here for a couples getaway and loved it. The hotel and amenities are beautiful. ||We checked in and went down to the spa as my wife has a pre-natal massage booked and the leisure facilities are 10/10. The relaxation area is one of the best we’ve ever seen and everything was spotlessly clean. The room was very modern, spacious and well maintained. ||The only thing that let us down was the food. We had lunch in the State Room Lounge and we found it to be painfully overpriced. The quality was average at best and we were expecting a lot more for the money. We had dinner at Charlie’s and had a very similar experience. We had scallops starter to share, the chicken supreme (very small and meat was dry) and a ribeye steak which hadn’t been seasoned at all and tasted like cheap oil from a deep fat fryer, then a cheesecake to share and the bill was £110. The quality was miles off other meals we’ve eaten at this price point and would put us off going back here for dinner. ||Breakfast was nice with a good selection, and check-in/check-out were easy and smooth. Overall we’d definitely come back, but would probably try and find somewhere offsite for dinner.

Hotel is beautiful, classic Scottish Manor House entrance with warm welcome and a tour of the hotel. We booked one of the modern rooms located in the new park of the hotel, which was spacious and luxurious with a very aesthetically pleasing bathroom. Amenities were great with everything you need. |The spa is the real highlight of the hotel open 7-7 with full access for hotel guests anytime, plenty of comfy loungers, beds and beanbag seating in a cozy relaxing environment. The pool and jacuzzi were great even in the cold of early January. |Charlie’s restaurant is very nice we both opted for the Ribeye which was cooked very well.|Breakfast was superb with a tour given and hot drinks order taken on arrival, full hot and cold buffet with some luxury items, wellness shots and food cooked to order, possibly the best hotel breakfast we have experienced. ||Overall would highly recommend the Schloss and would love to return.

We had a very enjoyable stay; room was adequate & comparable to most chain hotel rooms. Food was good, ate in both restaurants, found the staff much more attentive in Freddy's rather than Sunlaws. ||Some improvement points: |Dogs: As a dog lover, yes it's good, you and other establishments allow access. However, allowing guest to bring their dogs into restaurants and letting them up onto chairs and sofa benches next to other guests close by who may be scared, allergic. Several of the bars I saw the dogs up on chairs, often after they had just been out for a walk. This is very unhygienic, never mind the aspect of dirty paws on chairs/seats that guests sit on next with nice clothes. ||The Spa: lovely bed area, with fire & nice atmosphere. However, in comparison to many other hotel spas, it falls down overall. The outdoor pool (no indoor pool) was warm in the morning but colder in the afternoon & it was not pleasant in it or the hotter (uncovered) while it was raining. The aroma room was small, and it and the sauna were very quickly overcrowded when it was raining. Leaving nothing to do but lie on a bed!! There is no indoor spa facilities apart from paid treatment rooms. At least one of the rooms is also very close & partially open to the main spa bed area so there is noise pollution in the treatment room. ||This spa does not seem to have been designed to cope with inclement weather, something quite regular in the borders. The spa falls below the facility standards at Swinton (£££), Grantley (££££), Seaham Hall (££) & Rockcliffe Hall (£££) but Schloss R (£££) prices don't reflect that.

My wife and I spent a two week holiday in the UK back in April, and had an amazing time and stayed in some incredible places, but THIS was the Crown Jewel of all the places we stayed. Very sad we had time for only one night - but beyond amazing! The modern portion of the lodging is tucked behind the profile of the old manor, when you drive up the view is enchanting. We were a tad late for my wife's spa treatment and the staff made accommodations nonetheless. We were in the main part of the hotel, and had a delicious room service lunch in the afternoon, and ate at the onsite restaurant for dinner. There are 3 bars, and another restaurant that is seasonal. Golf, archery, fly fishing, skeet shooting, heated pool (bring your swimmers!), spa...all tucked away in the placid Scottish countryside. We did take a hike to the old rail viaduct...so much to do - we plan to make it back and spend more than a day, and likely in one of the cottages + golf! The staff was welcoming, engaging, and very helpful - great hospitality, and amazing experience. Can't wait to return!

Have just stayed in a cottage, 17 to 19 Feb 2025, on the grounds of Schloss Roxburghe. Accommodation and facilities, including the Spa, within the hotel were excellent. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The dining experience in Charlies restaurant however, left a lot to be desired. Whilst the breakfast was superb, the evening meal was disappointing in the extreme. Our dinner was booked for 7.30 and our mains were not served until after 9. The scallops were overcooked topped with pieces of bacon burnt to a crisp. One of the steaks was mostly fat and inedible. The peppercorn sauce was brown water. The prices are hefty and much better quality was expected. V disappointing.

Hideaway in beautiful settings. We went for lunch and it was delicious, hats off to the chef/chefs. The waiting staff were fantastic with an on the ball yet relaxed approach. Only improvement we could think of was to eat in one of the more intimate rooms. Apart from that a wonderful place to go with good food, good service and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thank you.

Was treated to a spa day here and loved it! The hotel and spa are beautiful and have been finished to an extremely high standard. Therapist was lovely and treatments were so good! Spa is relaxing and has access to outdoor heated pool and sauna. Lovely to sit in the comfortable bar for drinks after too.

My mum and I visited on Sunday the 5th January for afternoon tea. We took my mum’s little dog and everyone was so welcoming. The afternoon tea was delicious and the service efficient and friendly even bringing a fresh bowl of water for the wee dog and welcoming her . We were served by the waitress sorry I didn’t get her name she told me brother is training to be a chef in the hotel. She she was attentive, efficient and really friendly and talked us through all the different cakes and produce. The apple and cinnamon jam is the nicest jam I have ever tasted and the cakes were outstanding both in taste and presentation . Well done to the pastry chef it was just outstanding ! Well will be back up again soon and can’t recommend the hotel enough it has a lovely feel and ambience . The swimming pool looked lovely, especially on a cold snowy day when the steam could be seen rising off it. Maybe one day !
