Schlosshotel Kronberg - Hotel Frankfurt (Frankfurt, Hesse) 3 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hard-charging, businesslike Frankfurt has a genteel, aristocratic side as well, one that’s on display at Schlosshotel Kronberg, in the Taunus foothills just outside of town. The venue is the former Schloss Friedrichshof, the turn-of-the-century home of Victoria, Princess Royal, and her influence, as well as that of her husband, Kaiser Frederick III, is still visible, even after some very thorough renovations, throughout what’s now a five-star luxury resort." - Tablet Hotels

Great hotel with lots of history! Every room is unique, the food is great. The little town of Kronberg is really pretty. If you like classic bars, this one is a must do, there’s even a real Turner Painting.

Wonderful amazing location and very big castle with beautiful greenery around. The staff was so nice to being champagne to our room this was a surprise as it was to celebrate our 20 years wedding anniversary. Super friendly staff. Beautiful decorations & wonderful food at the restaurant

Definitely the most beautiful historic hotel that I've stayed in Germany. The staff is excellent-professional, friendly, and welcoming. I felt pampered throughout our stay. We especially enjoyed Frederick's Bar-great food, drink, music and staff. The grounds are amazing as well. I highly recommend a stay if you are looking for a real treat outside of Frankfurt. Thank you so much for a memorable stay!

This beautiful hotel is truly magical! We took our 14 year old granddaughter on a driving trip through Germany and this was the high point as we concluded our trip. It did not disappoint! We were so warmly welcomed. The staff knew what we were doing and gave us a few extra surprises which absolutely delighted our granddaughter. I can’t thank them enough. The hotel is stunning, the room was so comfortable with the highest quality linens and toiletries. Dinner and breakfast on the veranda was delicious and the servers were excellent. We enjoyed a morning stroll around the grounds and incredible rose gardens. You truly live like royalty here. Be sure to include it in YOUR itinerary.

Be a guest of the Empress in this stately castle estate. Fantastic bar and restaurants, breakfast is lovely and all you can eat. If you like golf this course is a must. The rooms are comfortable and fit for a queen. I can’t say enough good things about the service and you can even get an in-room massage. Great place and something for everyone.

We stayed here upon arrival in Frankfurt after a long international flight, it was the perfect place to relax and catch up before starting a trip through Europe. We were a little nervous because we are traveling as a family of 11 people including 3 small children. But the hotel made us and the kids feel welcomed and valued. It started months before with the reservations dept. working out the room details and making great suggestions to help work out every detail. Upon arrival we were greeted by the nicest people at the front desk, doing everything to get us taken care of quickly and into our rooms, including bringing our bags up to our room. We had a nice quiet evening at the hotel grabbing some dinner on the terrace, the food was delicious and it came out quickly. Then we relaxed and visited with our family on the terrace in the fresh air before retiring. The views of the grounds are stunning. Our booking included breakfast the next morning which was just as delicious as the food the night before. They even had a table for 11 already set up when we got to the breakfast area….now that’s service! Breakfasts a buffet but from the kitchen they brought out a plate of pancakes to the delight of the little ones. The beds are super comfortable and the rooms are well appointed and spotless. Each of the 5 rooms we booked were different but each one was unique and seemed to have its own history. The hotel was a castle at one point and it remains a working castle today, complete with all the paintings, books, furniture, antiques and secret passes ways you’d expect. I can’t recommend this hotel enough, they didn’t miss a chance to impress us and make us feel spoiled. I will surely be back next time I’m in the area!

We had an extremely upsetting and humiliating experience during our recent stay at this hotel.||After arriving around 3 PM and placing our luggage in our rooms, we came downstairs to find something to eat. In the hallway, we noticed dessert cart with utensils and no staff present. We also saw other guests having the desserts, so we assumed it was a self-service setup after checking around for a while. With that impression, our children took a few cakes with my husband’s help.||Suddenly, a man rushed over, aggressively took the cakes from our hands, and threw them into the trash, while he gave us a harsh warning in a very rude manner, that it was not self-service. My husband asked how we could pay for the cake, and he totally ignored the question!!! This was extremely humiliating, especially in front of our children and other guests. We were totally shocked — we had no intention of doing anything inappropriate and acted based on what we observed around us.||When we spoke to the receptionist to report this behavior, we were told the man was the bar manager. He later came to apologize, but again did so in an unfriendly and condescending tone, pointing out some sign to indicate it’s us who broke hotel rules— which were in German — that we translated through translation app just saying some generic welcome messages. We genuinely couldn’t understand how a few small, ordinary cakes with our kids could escalate into such a serious issue at a five-star hotel. At this point, I was extremely upset, nearly on the verge of a panic attack. I asked him for his manager. He responded several times he was the manager indicating nobody was above him to communicate with us!!! And he told me he was talking to my husband not me!!!||We immediately requested to cancel our stay.||Later, two managers visited our room to apologize and offered complimentary drinks and dinner via room service. While we really appreciate that nice gesture, it does not fully make up for the experience we had — especially after such a wonderful and peaceful six-day vacation throughout Germany. This incident left a sour final impression on our trip.||Later that evening, the emotional toll of the experience continued to affect me. I began to feel heart pain and physical discomfort due to the stress and anxiety caused by the incident. This was not only a deeply upsetting moment emotionally, but it also began to take a physical toll on my well-being.||What made the situation even more troubling was the feeling that we may have been treated this way in part because we were the only Asian family. The dismissive, aggressive, and condescending behavior—especially the way I was ignored and spoken over—felt not only unprofessional but also racially biased. While we cannot know the individual’s intentions with certainty, the way we were singled out and humiliated publicly raises serious concerns of discriminatory and prejudiced treatment.||We chose this hotel expecting professional service, basic respect and hospitality. Unfortunately, what we experienced with this guy was far from acceptable! The rest of the hotel staff we encountered were professional, kind, and welcoming. Sadly, one person’s behavior completely ruined what could have been a wonderful end to our vacation in Germany. I do hope other guests won’t go through a similar experience and the hotel will take this as an opportunity to improve its standards in selecting and appointing staff!

Yelp
Very disorganized overall and frankly disappointing. The entire castle was booked for a wedding and another entire event - however, none of this was communicated when we reserved the room. As a result, they only had one tiny terrace that could fit a max of 25-30 people for the entire castle guests. This was a surprise "gift" discovered at check-in when we booked the room 4 MONTHS in advance. No communication whatsoever to guests of the hotel beforehand that probably would have chosen another hotel to avoid the drama and lack of services. The entire day was filled with miscommunication between oh no the terrace is closed, actually it is open, the bar is closed, no it's open, actually it's definitely closed... but you have the lobby, though. Guests were confused and waiting for menus for 30 minutes with no communication from anyone. Some kept asking for a table to eat their food. Strangers sat together in the same seating because there was no room anywhere... They had all their staff focus on the wedding and event and only had one waitress on the terrace for everyone else. So basically, paying hotel guests were left wandering, confused, stuck, and overall with subpar service for a 5-star hotel. When they tried to "offer" something for the inconvenience, there was lots of miscommunication as well between spas, massages, and buffet tickets, but oh yes, we won't charge you NOW, but definitely later. So I guess they think it's ok for us to pay 100 euros per person for a BBQ buffet event as a "sorry for the inconvenience"... We just wanted a normal castle restaurant. It's not a matter of price but a matter of principle. Overall, we've been to many 5 star hotels, and this was definitely the worst experience we've had. You will be paying almost $400 a night for NO. No restaurant, no bar, no full hotel access, no communication, no pretzel at 7:15 pm, no coffee in the room, no library, and no table for eating on the tiny terrace. They kept proposing for us to drive outside the castle even though we booked specifically to be IN the castle. If you are going to prioritize a wedding AND an event because it's more money and close everything, then do us all a favor and mark all the rooms as booked so you don't waste our time. Don't try to be greedy and want everything but offer nothing.

Yelp
We stayed in the castle and it was absolutely amazing. Service and decor were both wonderful. The grounds are immaculate.

Yelp
GREATEST CASTLE HOTEL EVER!!! OMG; if you're staying anywhere within Frankfurt Germany and you love living like royalty; this is the place for you. Tonight I've had the best experience ever at this place where I've been treated like royalty since my arrival and it became a moment to remember. I'll never forget when I stayed overnight inside a castle hotel. Totally recommend! PS; I'm writing this inside my castle hotel bedroom right as I start to fall asleep.

Yelp
This review is for the Schlosshotel Kronberg restaurant Victoria NOT for the hotel. We very much anticipated dining at the restaurant. Nice setting in a big park. Nice from the inside if you like a medieval appeal. We liked it. Spacious. High ceilings. Old paintings. Fairly quiet and sophisticated atmosphere. The service was overall great. Knowledgeable and attentive but for one faux pas (see below). However, sadly, the food was a big disappointment. The quality was ok to good but totally overpriced. Half (!) a small lobster for over €120!? Nobody asked for how the beef should be prepared. We recommend to go to the restaurant inside Falkenstein Grand Hotel nearby. Better food. Same service. Much better price/performance ratio.

Yelp

Yelp
I was in town visiting friends over the summer. A couple of my friends suggested we visit Kronberg in Taunus. Specifically, to visit this former castle, now hotel and have lunch. It was a relatively short drive north of the city and soon enough we were in the sleep small town. When we arrived the restaurant wasn't open yet so we decided to sit and chat over coffee at the terrace. Lunch was also served in an open air area of the restaurant overlooking the hotel grounds. It was lovely! We were definitely feeling the "ladies who lunch" vibe after all, apart from our group there was only another table wherein a vacationing family diner and later on a couple of business men in suits sat down for what was clearly an upscale business lunch. For the meal, we took advantage of their prix fixe lunch offer. It was 3 courses and a glass of wine for €45. After the amuse bouche, my first course was a gazpacho that was perfect for the summer. Next came a chanterelle and apricot risotto that was excellent! Fantastic combination! Dessert was also delicious and beautifully plated. Over all we found the meal to be of great value for the price and we enjoyed the leisurely lunch. After our meal we took some time strolling through the property and taking photos. We didn't get to see the rooms but it seems a stay here isn't overly expensive either. Great for a special occasion or romantic getaway.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with rich history. Service was outstanding. Rooms immaculate. Food- delicious. Walk the grounds around the Dwight D. Eisenhower designed golf course. Yes, that Eisenhower. Can't say enough about the friendly, professional staff who go above and beyond in their service to their guests.

Yelp
This hotel-turned castle is beautiful. The whole place is filled with antique furniture, paintings, and architecture. I came here for some coffee and cake, and every staff I ran into were all very cheerful and helpful. The cafe is located in the lobby by the fire place. The young lady who assisted us was very kind in explaining what was available and her recommendations. There is no coffee or cake menu, so she answered all of our questions. There is a menu for the bar as well as bar food, but we ended up not ordering from it. We ordered a latte, regular coffee, the cheesecake, and the prince cake. The lady highly recommended the prince cake. She said that there was a competition for who could make the best cake for the prince, and this was the exact cake that won one of the competitions. It has alcohol mixed into it at a perfect level. My latte was delicious, minus the foam. The foam was rather chunky, which I've never experienced in a latte before. But presentation of the latte and coffee are beautiful! Parking was very convenient too. We just parked at any spot in the lot in front of the lobby doors. The bathroom is beautiful as well.

Yelp
Our family stayed in this hotel recently and everything was perfect. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, the bar fabulous and the entire staff were so nice, friendly and extremely helpful. We had car difficulties and a snow storm that altered our plans at the last minute and they helped us in every way possible.

Yelp
This is a castle hotel one of many in and around Germany. I had no idea this place existed until I was invited to go to a wedding here. The castle was built in 1889-93 and is an eclectic mix of British, German, French and other European architectures and designs. The grounds contain an 18-hole golf course, designed by Dwight D. Eisenhower (who stayed at the hotel with his staff for seven years beginning in 1946), and a public town park. Eisenhower was the 34th President of the USA. The room I had was on the older side of the hotel and not renovated into modern rooms. To be honest I love such hotels with classic rooms and decorated in period style. The bed was super comfortable and the room was spacious and bathroom well stocked with Molten Brown products. The staff here are really what make the place great. Super friendly, helpful and nothing is a problem. This was evident through the time I stayed here. Breakfast is also divine with tons of options cold and hot. I would come back here in a heartbeat. It's located next to a golf course and would happily play a round or two next time I stay here. The town of Kronberg is also very nice and about 15 min walk from the hotel.

Yelp
We walked around and visited inside this hotel. They are very polite and very nice. Very pleasant. Their interiors are like museum and very impressed. Next time, I would like to stay there!

Yelp
Probably the best hotel in the world. Hidden away in Kronberg, a beautiful suburban town in the Taunus mountains outside of Frankfurt, this is the castle built by the Dowager Empress Victoria and this castle can be your home. The rooms are exquisitely decorated and recently updated, the main floor houses the family art collection, and Jimmy's bar provides late night diversions. The breakfast buffet is delicious and the hotel sits in expansive grounds perfect for walking. Many five star hotels barely live up to their billing, but this hotel exceeds your expectations in every way. 15 minutes from Frankfurt, fewer than 30 minutes to FRA. Forget the crummy Frankfurt Airport Sheraton and stay here for slightly more money and vastly more ambience.

Yelp
A marvelous place. Very posh. As spirit of ancient times. Definitely a must, if you have some cash to spend.
