Rooms quite compact but spotlessly clean and with all the basics you need. No reception but staff available on phone and very quick to help. Fantastic location between sea front and main shopping centre. And very reasonably priced. Definitely value for money

Booked at short notice checked in and welcome by staff. A simple motel with a small yet functional room. In a quiet area close to the city center. Great for shorter stopovers or a weekend trip. Brighton beach ant the Palace pier within walking distance. Bathroom was a squeeze but you can't have everything!

Unfortunately the worst hotel I've stayed in when I've been on my own. It seems many places just shove you in a cupboard when you're solo to just make more money. Stayed for two nights, tiny room on the very top floor. When I arrived I had to call to let them know I was there, even the main door was completely locked to non residents, wasn't told this when I booked. Staff were friendly but largely absent with no obvious office to find them in. The staircase is steep and feels about to collapse, the whole place is poorly maintained. My room has so many issues - no WiFi code or general welcome notes but lots of notes stuck to walls about how to use shower etc, main window doesn't close properly so I had a cold wind coming in and had to turn the heating up full, tv is directly above door as far away from you as it can be, bathroom so tiny that those of us who are a little chunkier, have our legs right on the door when on the loo and door didn't close properly anyway, the wall mounted hairdryer didn't turn on at all and best thing is that the walls are so paper thin that I could hear the couple next door having sex, keeping me awake in the early hours of the morning, both nights! Yes it's on the cheaper side but still too much for how poor the place is. The only good thing was the central location. Maybe the other rooms are OK and it's fine if there's more of you which must explain the good reviews but safe to say I won't be booking again.

Stayed there this month ( march 24th to 26th) very nice hotel. Car park 1 minute walk away witch was more than convenient with the bags of course. After arriving at the property we got room number three on level one which had a cosy inbuilt shower cupboard which was really nice and tiled and very clean. Also had double doors out onto a small metal balcony which was nice also. What I liked about this property is that it's all keyless entry from the main door to your room though which again is convenient. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet the manager, but he kept in touch very well through Booking.com which was good of him. I would really recommend this hotel for long or short stay. 5 start from me thank you for us.

When we arrived after a 3 hour journey, we opened the door and there was no staff, we had to call to get a room key and had to walk up 4 flights of stairs with our suitcases. When we got to the top it was boiling! No fan provided in 29• heat. Blinds didn’t work so had to keep them open with other windows just outside you couldn’t get changed without fear of getting seen. We opened a cupboard in the wall to see it was a tiny walldrobe, only 2 hangers and about enough space to hang 4 items. Bathroom was so small you couldn’t shut the door while on the toilet. Toilet systern was covered in mould. Laminated note saying to keep all water in the shower otherwise it will leak downstairs. Location was full of people on drugs asking for cigarettes, shouting, and playing loud music at silly hours of the morning. Walls are paper thin you could hear snoring from the wall next to the bed. We were going to go somewhere else for our 2nd night but didn’t have the money after spending £130 here!! Absolutely disgusting price and would request a refund if we had contact information however the number they provided just calls and beeps.

The hotel staff were all very friendly and approachable. We received a warm welcome on arrival and prompt check in. Our room was no.7 at the very top of the building, which meant climbing about 4 flights of stairs - but this wasn't much of an issue. The room was quite small but well presented and clean. Tea & coffee making facilities were available in the room, as well as a small TV and small cupboard/wardrobe. The ensuite was very small and claustrophobic, especially for two larger men. The house is quite old and there are a lot of creaky floorboards and thin walls - we had come prepared with earplugs so had no issue with noise, however I'd recommend anyone do the same as without them in you can hear people moving about and talking in the adjoining rooms. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection available. We opted for the full English on both days and were not disappointed. Brighton is a fairly expensive place to stay as we discovered, and if you're just looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay for one or two nights, then Motel Schmotel isn't a bad place to pick.

Stayed 2 nights at this place, great location with being close to restaurants, night life, the lanes, pier and beach. Room was bigger then expected and did the trick for 2 nights. Relatively clean and the staff were very nice and accommodating. We did think breakfast was included but you need to pay extra when you book and we didn’t realize. Overall it was a good place to stay in a good location

Small clean room very comfortable bed and just right for our 2 night stay. Everything was clean and fresh and the breakfast is fuel for the day. Full English was cooked to perfection. All staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Only down side for us was the strong scent of joss sticks which made the place smell lovely but we are allergic to strong scented smells other than that we can highly recommend the Motel Schmotel. Thank you for a pleasant stay

Yelp
Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn..... This newly refurbed and trendy hotel with the cool name 'Motel Schmotel' is trying to be as up to date as it can be and I reckon it has achieved this. With more rewards for it's quality than Slumdog Millionaire you will not be let down. The outside in my opinion looks naff but how long do you spend looking at that? With a breakfast list as long as my arm you will have plenty of choice to suit even the most acquired pallet. The cheapest room weekdays is £45 and weeked is £65 which isn't too bad so you can have a couple of days here during the week for under £100 which is difficult to beat unless you want to stay in a hole. Like most good hotels it has a website so check it out and see how you feel.

Yelp
Hilarious. I spent the whole holiday singing the first line of that Pitbull song as Marc R. has written below.... ANYWAY! This place, aaah, this place. My best friend discovered it and started bombarding me with calls to book a stay last week while I was in a gallery. Needless to say, I couldn't pick up, but she told me the price (£70/night with breakfast) - and that they draw smiley faces on the boiled eggs, which are served with Marmite soldiers. Sold. We arrived on Saturday, having had a text from one of the three owners (with a kiss on the end no less) to say that our room was ready. We text her back to say we were early, she said it was no problem. A £4 taxi ride from Brighton station later and we were in Russell Square. From the outside, it doesn't look that special, but once inside, the quirkiness was apparent, and the smell of freshly baked bread overwhelming (in a good way). My friend and I shared room 3, and got snap happy near immediately. Fold up hairdryer on the back of the door, bright taj mahal-inspired headboard on the bed, strawberry wallpaper inside the cupboard...I could go on. The room was a heap of cute little touches that made the place not only fun, but welcoming. I mean, it was TINY, but we didn't care. We ordered breakfast (which you can also text in), then headed to the beach - which is only five minute walk away. Upon leaving, we noticed the sign on the door advising us not to get burnt and saying that we could help ourselves to sun cream downstairs any time. Plus, there a beautiful vintage telephone in the hall that provides a direct line to the owners' house in case you need anything. Next morning, there was a knock on the door as breakfast was delivered to our bed. Oh. My. God. Best fry-up I have ever had, no question. 100% meat Sussex sausages, 'home fries' (sauteed new potatoes), bacon, scrambled egg, fried cherry tomatoes and homemade tomato ketchup and toast. Plus orange juice and coffee. Just amazing, and so incredibly tasty. After leaving the room and staying out all day, we realised we'd forgotten to order breakfast for the next morning (panic!), but luckily, text it in and there were no problems. When we left, we were greeted with the same smiling faces and felt like our stay had been peaceful (the bed was *so* comfortable) and great value for money. I'll definitely go again.

Yelp
We went for one night, very helpful staff, lovely decor compact double room. Good toiletries in shower room. Lots of teas and coffee and a choc biscuit too. Breakfast was great, served to the room so we could have it in bed. Well situated in the center of town.I would go again!
