"Set on 30 acres dotted with tiki huts, limestone waterfalls, and koi ponds, this winery-brewery hybrid turns tropical fruit into a full lineup of pours, anchored by a plantation-style mansion with a spacious tasting room. At a circular oak bar I met owner Peter Schnebly, who recounted how a surplus of 40,000 pounds of slightly ripe avocados led him to ferment them; he poured a glass straight from a steel tank and noted it’s now their second-best-selling wine, with winemakers even flying in from France to ship bottles home. In the hangar-size brewery I sampled a hard guava cider, a coconut blonde ale, and a spicy mango-and-habanero wheat beer, and left with a six-pack of guava cider, three bottles of lychee wine, and a new appreciation for how inventive fruit wines can be." - Nora Walsh Nora Walsh Nora Walsh is an award-winning writer who specializes in luxury hotels, Latin America, and the intersection of wellness and adventure travel. "The Everglades' Only Winery and Brewery The Florida Everglades is certainly one of the most unusual places to find a winery and brewery, but Schnebly Redland's Winery excels in both arenas in what some would call "the middle of nowhere." Guests are greeted by a stunning wine bar ahead, a beer bar to the right and a counter on the left that sells cheeses and snacks. You can also buy any of the selections you've imbibed, either bottles of wine or growlers of beer. The wines are unique, made from local fresh fruits like mango, guava and lychee and made on premises. Schnebly's beers, brewed for Miami Brewing Company, are equally exotic, with brews like the Big Rod Coconut Ale or the Shark Attack Mango Wheat Ale. Tastings start at $7 and go up if you want to keep the glass. Tours of the facilities are available on weekends."

"By now, you surely know whether you prefer red wine or white. What you probably don’t know is whether you prefer it made of passionfruit, coconut, mango, lychee, guava, or avocado. But you’ll find out fast enough at Schnebly, where the claim to fame is wine made with fruit beyond grapes. It’s less than an hour from Miami, but a visit to Schnebly Redland’s Winery & Brewery feels like another world. Grab a seat in the luxurious outdoor garden and discover Miami’s early days as a swampland." - Jennifer M. Wood
