What It's Like to Take Cooking Classes at the Ritz Paris

"A world-class, subterranean culinary school offering immersive, hands-on instruction for both professional students and the general public; courses range from multi-day professional tracks to shorter community workshops. Lessons emphasize classic French technique—stocks, vegetable turning, and roasting squab—alongside rigorous butchery work (deboning and dressing whole chicken, piping meat stuffing and sealing in dough) and seafood prep (skinning and filleting monkfish for a chorizo-and-mussel emulsion). Pastry classes cover pâte à choux éclairs filled with mousse and dipped in ganache, lemon curd tartlets with steamed meringue, and hazelnut praline–drizzled meringues, with focused demonstrations, small class sizes, and translators available. The tone is both exacting and playful—chefs model precise knife work and culinary theatrics—leaving students empowered to reproduce recipes at home and to approach pastry with newfound confidence." - Josh Miller

Culinary Masterclass Excellence at Ritz Escoffier I recently had the pleasure of attending a masterclass at Ritz Escoffier, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The chefs leading the class were not only amazing but also highly professional, showcasing their exceptional skills and culinary expertise. Their passion for their craft was evident in every detail, making the class both informative and inspiring. The masterclass was impeccably well-prepared and organized, ensuring that every participant had a smooth and enjoyable learning experience. The chefs' knowledge and attention to detail were truly impressive, and I left the class feeling enriched and inspired to try new techniques in my own culinary endeavors. The staff at Ritz Escoffier were lovely and attentive, adding to the overall positive atmosphere of the experience. Their warm hospitality made every moment spent at the masterclass a delight, and I felt welcomed and valued as a participant. To top off the exceptional experience, the lunch served during the masterclass was nothing short of amazing. The culinary creations were a true reflection of the chefs' talent and creativity, and every bite was a flavorful delight. It was a fitting end to a day filled with learning, enjoyment, and delicious food. Overall, my experience at Ritz Escoffier was nothing short of outstanding, and I would eagerly participate in more masterclasses in the future. The combination of talented chefs, impeccable organization, and delicious food made it an experience to remember and cherish.

If you are into French Cuisine and cooking with fresh herbs and flowers, I highly recommend taking a course here. On their website they have a few offers, from making sauces, to meats, to pastries. I've done it once and loved it. Will come back to take more courses here.

The classes I took were absolutely SUPERB! I spent approximately a week at the Ritz learning the different techniques and incredible recipes shared by the talented chefs. I have taken classes at other institutions before, but NOTHING is like the Ritz-Escoffier. The details, the ambiance, the level of professionalism is absolutely incredible. I hope to return soon and continue to learn. I am beyond thankful for all the wonderful chefs that have taught me their passion. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I HIGHLY recommend you take classes, it will be an experience out of this world!

I attended the chocolate making class. It was very informative and hands on. There was live translation for the french chef, and that was amazing! The recipes were provided to all the attendees and the chef welcomed questions. The best part was at the end we got two surprises! (1) We took our apron home!!! (2) We got a diploma! Also, we took home the food we made which was nice. I will definitely be coming back! Lastly, the chocolate class was only 110 euros. To me, a cooking school of this caliber and that price is so worth it! Highly recommended!

While taking a pastry class at the Ritz Escoffier has been on my list since 2019, I have to admit that I was a little nervous when I finally signed up for it. As it turns out, I had no reason to be nervous - this was an absolutely lovely experience. My class was taught by Antoine, a Ritz pastry chef with extensive experience. Though I was the only person in the class that didn't speak French, I was able to follow along with help from the lovely Christina and my very kind classmates. I never felt overwhelmed or like I couldn't keep up with the class. The full day course included a pear and almond torte, filled choux pastry with caramel and Chantilly cream, and a Black Forest cake. If you haven't tried the Ritz pastries, they are works of art. I thought this class would be very intense, and yes, the recipes are both creative and complicated, but the skills required aren't overly technical. I think they actually do an incredible job of making pastry-making approachable and “easy.” I was surprised at how well everything turned out, even when I thought we might have burned our caramel. (We didn't; it was delicious!) I appreciated that they gave us tips for prepping the recipes in advance. It's a lot to make all of these recipes in one day, but they were very clear that you don't have to do it this way. I learned so many great tips and tricks from Antoine that I’m excited to use in my kitchen at home. There are so many easy tools that can really elevate your baking and pastry-making. At the end of the class, you are able to box up and take all your creations home so everyone else can enjoy them, too. We were provided all the recipes and our aprons so that we could recreate everything at home. (They also provide a list of kitchen equipment stores in Paris that would be worth checking out if you need anything!) I can't wait to take another class and I'm considering signing up for one of the 3 or 5 day intensives next!

Yelp
I have attended an ice-cream making class at Ritz and it was a great memorable experience. First of all they are really professional and very well organized. The class was held in French and i was the only student who did not speak it so they gave me an interpreter who professionally translated everything our teacher was saying. Speaking of the teacher, he was very friendly, engaging and skilled . Their kitchen is huge and really well equipped. Our class i think lasted about three hours and it was pure joy. We made two kinds of very tasty ice-cream. The process was rather complicated but it was very well explained, not rushed and it was just fun. We also made meringue, sauce and some edible decor to go with the ice-cream. Of course at the end of the class we ate our creations. It tasted really good. They gave us the recipe and step-by-step instructions to take home. I would give this place ten stars. I will definitely attend more classes at the Ritz when i visit Paris next time.

Yelp
Countless courses, impeccable foods, beautiful appliances and your own two hands! This cooking school is extraordinary and the two ladies that guided us through the day were very friendly and knowledgeable about all aspects of the food, cooking method and presentation. Never are you in such a position to cook this way yet I was able to bring lessons home to our own kitchen. The day started with meeting the concierge who guided us 'behind closed doors' and into the depths of the Ritz. Surprisingly, the back of house is quite nice and took me by surprise. We met our two chefs in a good size room adjacent to the main kitchen. The lesson room included a full kitchen, a large prep table, selves full of dry goods and china, and a large dinning table. From the first moment we started preparing courses and learning about every step. Wine and small dishes (we prepared) were served throughout the day. Finally, my group and our two chefs sat down for a lovely meal and interesting conversation (in English). A great experience.

Yelp
My 10 yo daughter and I attended the beginning pastry class. This is a review for a BEGINNING pastry class. There was the chef and an assistant, who translated for us, non-french speaking students. This is an active class, not just a watch and learn nor a team cooking class. Each student has thier own stations and baked thier own pastry. It was the best experience we had in Paris, so much fun, exceptionally taught and in no way intimidating. Both chef and assistant were very kind, charming and entertaining. The kitchens of the Ritz Ecole are incredible. If you're unsure, just do it, it's definitely an amazing experience.
