Schumann-Haus Leipzig

Pretty underwhelming compared to other composer house museums in Europe. Information was limited and not presented in a logical way. There were no instruments actually belonging to the musicians on display. The listening library was the saving grace, however it was rather noisy due to the museum sharing space with a school. There were kids rehearsing choir in part of the museum so it was hard to focus on the listening examples. Not recommended unless you're a big fan of the Schumann couple.

Not bad, it’s just very small and the information is limited. It’s almost exclusively focused on Clara. If you don’t read German, you have to scan QR codes to get an English version. There’s an interactive sound room that’s good for children. If you don’t have much time in Leipzig, I’d choose a different museum.

We were delighted with this small museum, which focuses more on Clara Schumann than Robert.

Underrated museum! So much information packed into a tiny space, and interesting interactive exhibits as well as an excellent audio guide. The “sound room” was not available as the building is shared with a school but there was plenty of other things to enjoy :)

The house of Schumann, great Musicist, in Leipzig. Very quiet and relaxing part of the district.

Beautiful music, beautiful couples and wonderful venue.

Nice but small exhibit on one floor (second floor) dedicated to the Schumanns, Robert and Clara. This museum is interestingly embedded within a school building, so don't be confused when entering. Not all of the exhibit features are bilingual (some require you to use a QR code and device to see English translations) so if you don't read/speak German, you may be at a slight disadvantage. There seemed to be an emphasis on Clara (which is nice) but some more info about Robert's depression and end of life would have been nice, but maybe this is deemed too negative.

Love the emphasis on Clara. The interactive sound room was great too! We went in the holidays so it was quiet but during schooltime there are small kids running around.
