We visited Schwabacher Landing the first week of September and it was still very crowded. Even when we drove around 6AM, the parking lot was already packed. If you come later, you’ll likely end up parking very far from the river, which makes the experience less enjoyable. The key is to be there before 5AM like what most people do if you want a decent spot for photos. It was difficult to get a good shot because of the crowd, everyone was trying to set up for the same view. I wish they would improve the parking situation or maybe create a designated area where people can line up fairly to get their turn for the iconic shot. Until then, it’s really about timing and patience. That said, the view itself is absolutely breathtaking. Watching the sunrise hit the Teton range and seeing its reflection in the calm river is unforgettable. These were raw, unedited photos captured using my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the beauty still came through perfectly. It was very cold that early in the morning, so make sure to wear something warm or bring a blanket. On the positive side, there’s at least one restroom in the area, which is convenient. The view is beautiful, but you’ll need to prepare for the crowds and chilly weather to really enjoy it.

There’s a reason they’re called the Grand Tetons — the views are on a whole other level of grandeur. The sheer scale and beauty of the landscape truly live up to the name. We visited about 30 minutes after sunrise, and the view of the Grand Tetons was absolutely stunning. The reflection in the river was beautiful — it would’ve been even more extraordinary right at sunrise. In 2023, we came in the afternoon, and the timing was off — the sun was directly above the peaks, so there was no reflection in the water. This time, the yellow wildflowers added an extra layer of beauty to the already breathtaking landscape. Highly recommend visiting this spot either at Dawn or Dusk.

Stunning views! My teen daughter asked to stop here, and I was skeptical as we drove down the road. Everything in the Tetons is beautiful, so why spend extra time on a side quest when we needed to get to our campsite? Well, I am so glad I indulged her request. This spot is truly worth the few minutes it takes to travel off the main road. It's a gorgeous spot! There were quite a few people there when we stopped, but it didn't feel crowded. We were there in mid-June, in the middle of the afternoon. Bathrooms were available (I believe pit toilets, but we didn't use them, so I'm not sure). The road to approach is a little rough, but our minivan did just fine. Definitely worth a visit!

It is a place to put in your raft. And there's a trail to a good view. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for the walk or the view. A sign is posted that informs you the last 1.1 miles of the road to the parking area is unpaved. Several groups of deep potholes along the way. Your average sedan is not up to the task with dragging the undercarriage. SUV's will do fine.

Little bit of off roading to reach trail head, but doable. Reach before sunset and plan to reach the spot early as there’s quite a lot of people. Reflection in the river is worth it, loved the little hike on trail too.

This is a magical place to watch the sunrise as it offers a grand illumination of the Tetons. It can be pretty crowded, so arrive at least 30 minutes before the actual sunrise time.

This is a really cool place and perfect for sunrise viewing. The fog was covering the Teton range at first and slowly faded as the sun came up, revealing the mountains and making the view even more stunning. It is a must see experience.

Yes, it’s a tourist spot. But go in the morning. Go on a Sunday morning if you just. It’s a pleasant area with the most perfect landscapes. Moose in the AM. It’s a stop worth taking a deep breath and enjoying.

Yelp
Schwabacher Landing is a very popular visit in Grand Teton. This is partly because people stop at these types of overlooks, stops, and short walks so it gets really crowded. This is a great place to take pictures and we saw lots of people here with professional cameras and tripods. The road getting there is narrow and the road is congested. I would recommend coming at sunrise or sunset for the best views and to avoid the crowds. It's a short 0.2 mile walk out and 0.2 mile walk back so it's an easy walk with gorgeous views. I would recommend getting farther away from the main road and crowds and explore more in nature if you are able to!

Yelp
Schwabacher Landing is a very popular photography spot in Grand Teton National Park, and rightfully so! You're almost guaranteed a stunning photo of the snow-capped Tetons range with the water of the Snake River in the foreground. If you plan your visit well enough, you might catch sunrise or sunset colors or those of autumn leaves. Many are also able to catch a reflection of the mountains in the water. If you're lucky, you may even see wildlife, including moose, elk, and water fowl. We did see geese on the water in the late afternoon, but no large mammals. There are two parking lots, with toilets and bear-resistant trash bins. The best photo ops are accessed by short, flat paths along the river. It was crowded during our visit in late September, 2024, late afternoon on a Friday. I suspect it'll be more so in the summer. Access. Schwabacher Landing is located on Schwabacher Landing Road, about 1.1 mile off US-191 in Moose, Wyoming. This starts as a paved road, but quickly turns into a VERY rough, heavily pot-holed dirt road. We successfully managed with a regular van, as did many regular sedans, but it would've been easier with a 4-wheel drive. Note to NPS: given the popularity of this site, this road really needs to be improved! One point off in our rating only because of the access road.
