A very beautiful monument, being one of the only 2 remaining entrences in the Old Frieburg Citadel, along with Martinstor.

Nice gate that leads to the hill on the edge of the city with many walking and hiking paths. Its in good condition and a main sight in the city.

Freiburg has two surviving medieval city gates: Martinstor and Schwabentor, both originally part of the city's 13th-century fortifications. Martinstor, the older of the two, was significantly modified in the early 1900s with Neo-Gothic additions that gave it its current height and clock tower. Schwabentor was similarly enlarged in the 20th century. It features a mural depicting a Swabian merchant who, according to legend, tried to buy Freiburg with sacks of salt.

The Schwabentor is one of the only two remaining old city entrances of the fortified city of Freiburg. It is a beautiful tower with a special architecture that lets you into the city center. Amazing tower. Nicely maintained and worth waiting for the bell to ring. Careful taking pictures with this tower. There is a tram which runs underneath and it is difficult to hear it approach. There is a pedestrian underpass as well.
