Loved this hotel! They found me a room when booking.com said sold out (I tried to book five months in advance!) My Dad recently passed away but he stayed here in the late 60s so I really wanted to stay here too. Very friendly staff and ALWAYS so helpful with giving me information. Very comfortable room, great breakfast. Fantastic location. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend (the fact they've been in business for 60 years speaks volumes). I also highly recommend booking Zum Schwabentörle for dinner. Only 1 minute walk, excellent service, tasty and huuuuge plate of food for a very reasonable price. You won't find better :)

Great little hotel in the Freiburg Altstadt, easy to access via road (public parking garage just 50mrs away) or public transport (tram stop is 4min walk). ||Staff very friendly, rooms quiet, tidy and very comfortable. Free tea/coffee/water throughout the day if you like in the breakfast hall. Breakfast is perhaps less in terms of variety than you’d expect for a place this size, but all ingredients high quality and focus is on sourcing local stuff.

We loved it here - Christoph (sp?) was an excellent host. The location is perfect and the building has great history. We appreciated the atrium/lounge as well.

Recommend. Renovated, historic building in historic part of town. Good location. Friendly staff. Clean, adequate size room with very comfortable bed. Seating area has a kitchen table-type chair and an easy chair. Bathroom with a .4 sq meter shower is pretty tight, shower head has good pressure. Also, the sink is a stylish, modern design where form clearly won over function--it is nearly impossible to use without splashing water all over the counter. Breakfast starts at 07:00 with deli meat, cheese, rolls, cereal & fruit. WiFi connection was intermittent. Adequate power outlets for charging devices. Large safe deposit box. No fridge or A/C. Parking garage is a few minutes away.

Building and restaurant are cozy and classic. Guest rooms are tight and very modern. There is a nice lounge to sit and read or socialize. Our bathroom had an extremely small shower stall, with a hand - held spray wand only. Great location near cathedral and tram lined. Very nice breakfast in their elegant restaurant. Reception staff very helpful.

DH and I (American) recently stayed at this hotel as part of our Eurotrip. We were traveling with friends and decided to get our own room when we got there. Luckily the staff was more than accommodating and had one extra room for us for two nights. Our room was located on the top floor. Since it was in the "attic" space it was like a sauna inside. We brought a fan with us, so it helped cool things down. The room itself was small but very nice inside! We expected the room to be on the small side because, hey, it's Europe! The room is updated and on the modern side. ||||Breakfast was included with the stay. We had very friendly staff, and the room was quiet. The only downsides were the heat (It was mid-May) and the shower's water sorta spilled into the rest of the bathroom.

Set just around the corner from the main square, the hotel was comfortable and friendly. The room was small, compact and functional, which met our needs. ||||Despite being September and not great weather the room was very hot. We closed the windows to block out the noise from the street, church bells etc. Unfortunately this made it even more hot, which then set the bathroom fan going in the middle of the night. ||||Good power shower. Unfortunately would not face in the right direction. Staff were very efficient and resolved this for us. ||The bed was comfortable, with a soft pillow and lovely duvet. ||||Breakfast was busy, we were lucky to get a table. The food was standard buffet of cheese, meats, fruit, yoghurt, fruit and bread.

Yelp
Definitely make reservations. We saw many families and couples turned away as we were eating. Great food and wine list. The menu says they use local products and to expect your food to take a little time since they make it fresh. This is a great place with great food and is well worth the wait. Just make sure you plan ahead! Wonderful vegetarian options as well.
