Schweizerhof

Great location if travelling by train as it’s just outside the front of the station and next to public transport. We had an ambience room which was very spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was included and perfectly fine. Most of all, staff were very friendly and helpful. A very good choice for an overnight stay.

Everything is perfect. We like the hotel a lot but felt sad that we got a double room without a balcony and the room was not in the front zone of the hotel. I recommended to book a room with breakfast included. You should know that there will be some vibrations from the tram a bit. All things considered, I think this hotel is a great value for money.

We had a nice stay in a three bed room. The room didn’t have a real AC but stayed cool despite the over 30degree temperatures outside. Our corner room had 2 nice balconies, but the train/tram noise might be a turn-off for some. The hotel provides earplugs on the pillows.|Breakfast was nice, and the staff was helpful and friendly. You can rent a swim-fish from front desk, if you decide to ride the currents down the Rhein…..a MUST in the summer!|There are 5 free parking spaces directly in front of hotel, which made our experience even better.

A lovely hotel and ideally placed close to the main railway station if, like me, you are travelling by train. It is literally just across the road from the station and was perfect for my one night stay. It is well run, modern, helpful staff and couldn't be faulted. I would gladly stay there again

A Special Find in Basel!|The location, the breakfast (sooo good!), and especially the staff were exceptional, starting with the kind and professional front desk staff, including Thomas, Carole, Jay and all the rest, and of course the wonderful breakfast and bar people who treated us like royalty, and even the housekeepers who kept our rooms immaculate for our 2 week stay, we were just so happy to get “back home” after our day trips all over Switzerland!|Oh, the air conditioning was a nice bonus, too!|I cannot recommend this place enough - we will definitely be back!

Very near to train station and can easily walk to even with light rain. Noise level from transport are acceptable. We stayed only 1 night but it is better than the one we stayed in Geneva.

I had the pleasure of staying with the wonderful staff at the Schweizerhof Basel for a few nights in the spring, and I wish I could have stayed a month! I wouold rate this hotel SIX STARS if I could. From the delightful and helpful front desk staff to the handsome and friendly bartenders to the lovely housekeeping ladies, every single host here treated me like royalty. Spotlessly clean room and premises, with an unusually delicious breakfast -- and the location is unbelievably convenient. Right across the street from the train station, and adjacent to the tram stop, with a Chinese restaurant next door. And next door to that is the bar & bistro of the Victoria Hotel; I ate there every day and wish I could go back today. The hotel is VERY quiet, despite the proximity of the dozens of trams and many trains. Any shopping or services you might want are available across the street at the train station, along with beautiful views from the hotel's lovely terrace and beautiful old fountain out front. I'll never stay anywhere else in Basel.

The hotel is located super Closee to Basel SBB, the bus to the airport and a tram station. On top of this it's location is very central, hence going anywhere by foot is in the picture, too. Ths superb variety of mobility offers is then complimented by a very good service in the hotel itself. The staff ist very helpful and expresses a lot of professionalism and expertise. The room was super tidy and clean and eventhough the Tram station was directly in front of my window, there was very little noice besides a little rumbling every once in a while. On each floor there's a room in which water (still/ sparkling) is freely available. I didn't try the breakfast myself, but my travel companion seemed to be quite satisfied with his. The price is not super cheap, but it's in Switzerland, hence no surprise here. Overall, I fully recommend this hotel.

Recently updated rooms. I payed 195.- CHF a night. It's right next to the SBB central station. Rooms are nice and clean. Staff friendly. Nice little breakfast buffet. They provide free WiFi and Mobility Pass (public transportation). Downtown with lots of restaurants, bars, movie theaters and shopping is in walking distance.

Great hotel! Nice and clean, with large rooms and bathrooms. Excellent location. Very close to the train station and several tram lines just outside. Short walk downtown. Very good breakfast buffet. Friendly and fast check-in. Nice staff in both the bar and the restaurant. Good internet.

The Swiss are known for hospitality, and at Schweizerhof, that`s their specialty! The rooms: nice and big, and a treat of morokopf, English news channels, a giant shower tops it off! Breakfast was fantanstic, birchermüsli and fruit, breads, laks, and cheese, fresh coffee to suit! It`s right next to the bahnhof, and the tram station, after a night at Schweizerhof, you`ll be filled with jubilation!

Schweizerhof is an updated (2009) hotel with a great location right outside the SBB station. There are many options for food nearby including Starbucks or Tchibo for your morning caffeine fix. The rooms are spacious and modern with hardwood floors. Our first room was facing outside towards the station. The balcony was nice to view the action, but it was too noisy for the likes of us. If you're a light sleeper, request a room on the back side. There are ambient rooms with a bath tub and fitness rooms with exercise equipment available for a surcharge. I like the Yves Rocher products despite the strong fragrance, but there is no hair conditioner. Wi-Fi, mobility card(s) for the use of public transit, and breakfast are included in your room rate. Since there isn't a restaurant on-site, the breakfast is limited and no room service is available with the exception of drinks and some hot snacks. There are no minibars in your room, but there are complementary bars with water and soft drinks on a few floors. The staff has been helpful to make sure we have everything we need to be comfortable.

Friendly check-in. Our experience was enhanced by fact our room was ready upon our extremely early arrival (7:00AM). THANK YOU! Knowledgable and pleasant front desk staff. Asked about best money exchange (do it at the train station) and staff memeber was extremely helpful, I think the gentlemen might have walked us there if we asked. Comfortable bed. Oversized shower. Fun amenities. Complimentary bottle of water. Nice extras. Free public transit pass for duration of our stay was very much appreciated and unexpected. In addition, there are complimentary beverages on floors 2,3,4 (sparkling/still water; reg/diet coke; ice tea; orange juice, milk) Very nice touch! Exellent location, less than 5 minute walk from train station. Doors lock at 1AM; have to ring to get access. Overall: Excellent value and location. Highly recommend for business or holiday travel. Can't comment on the breakfast, wasn't included in our rate but other reviewers seem pleased.
