Nice small museum, good atmosphere and interesting and diverse exhibition. I really appreciated the information, although not all is available in both German and English so I had to translate for my girlfriend as much as I could. We really appreciated the Ukrainian exhibition, where the portrets of famous people made a big impression on how in Ukrainian culture famous people are known yet invisible in the "queer" part of their identity. Looking with intent, at the right angle, their faces appear. Very symbolic and touching.

The Schwules Museum is an absolute gem in Berlin! The exhibitions are beautifully curated, informative, and exceptionally well-presented. The curator has done an outstanding job creating such interesting and thought-provoking displays. The location itself is fantastic, and there’s a small bookshop with a great selection that’s definitely worth browsing. Plus, the café is a lovely spot — not only does it look great, but the coffee tastes amazing too! This is exactly what Berlin needs — a space that’s both meaningful and enjoyable. Highly recommend visiting!

Great review of Berlin LGBTQIA+ history. But not only, also Ukrainian one. Interactive exhibit, music, you name it!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this museum. It offered fascinating insights into LGBTQIA+ history, covering topics such as sex work and its cultural context. The exhibits were incredibly informative. I visited here on a Museumssontag so it was free entry.

This was the most underwhelming museum I’ve ever been to. The entire exhibition could’ve been sent in an email — nothing about it justified the price of entry. Honestly, the name only makes sense if you consider how much of a rip-off it was. Do not go here. Queer art and culture deserve better than what amounts to a physical PowerPoint presentation. Staring at cheap plastic signs meant to represent our history just reminded me how alive and well rainbow-washing still is. Ps it would not let me post my honest review so I had to edit it a lot and get gpt to make it sound nicer

Amazing queer museum! Had lots of content to read about in English,German, and I think a few other languages. A lot of the museum involved a ton of reading with a few art pieces and mostly pictures and articles. I wouldn’t expect to see tons of art made by queer people. All in all I think as a queer person it was a great experience being able to go and learn more about my community.

This museum is a must. Really love their queer disability exhibition. Can’t wait to return on another visit. They clearly put a lot of thought and detail into their curating. And don’t forget to try out the cafe before you go

The people working are always lovely, and the exhibitions never cease to amaze me ✨ definitely one of my favorite museums ever! This museum does an important job of sharing our collective history

Yelp
A small and well curated museum looking at the queer history of Berlin. Definitely worth dropping in - when we visited they had three exhibitions. We especially liked the one focused on the photography of Petra Gall - a cool glimpse into lesbian culture in Berlin in the 80s. Would definitely recommend spending an hour or two here.

Yelp
In Berlin, you can find many different kind of museums. This one is dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community. Although the museum isn't huge, it still holds usually 3-4 exhibitions. And most of them will display for quite some time, sometime even a year, so visitors have enough time to plan their visit. They also have free tour with English and German, if you want to join, I recommend to have a look on their official website, there are more information about it. I just visited not long ago, the admission cost 9 euro per person now (regular ticket), well, not cheap, but I think of it as a support to the local LGBTQ+ community. If you are student, you will get a discount, but take your stiuden ID with you. The employees are also quite friendly and helpful there. At the moment, the main theme in the museum is transgender, quite interesting and glad there is a platform for them, so they can to be seen and heard. If this is not topic for you now, just wait for the next exhibition. I think, this museum is one of a kind, you can learn more about the people from LGBTQ+ community, their life, history, culture, art and more.
