Sconset Market

Like the rest of Sconset, this shop is one of the top 20 places to go when you are here in town, and there is plenty of things to select from when you visit. Here is why: 1. The shop has a good selection of products, this includes produce, cookie mix, and T-shirt. There are enough essentials here to mostly get what you need. 2. There is an attached ice cream shop with daily changing flavors. They also give you plenty of ice cream so be mindful of your size choices. 3. It’s cute, that simple. 4. Staff is kind l had great interactions every time I have been in. 5. Make sure you are parking correctly, there is enforcement in the summer. Check out my photos to get a sense of the space.

Fantastic carrot cake. And a nice little ice cream shop- don't let them punk you into getting more than one scoop- It's called a Kiddie size, but it's plenty- unless you're about that life- Then by all means do your thing

Wonderful little shop. It is packed wall to wall with so many great local and New England sourced products. The prices are on point and my husband and I enjoyed our little grocery shopping spree here. They also have a great selection of Sconset themed apparel and jewlery. Worth the drop in just for the giant peppermint patties they sell individually from the chocolate box. I had to take a picture of the pod of whales maintaining the supply of newspapers outside the shop 🐋

The market looks inviting, until you see the prices of everyday items such as bread or milk etc. I understand why they are high, but will make the trip to buy these items at Stop and Shop near Town. The girl working behind the ice cream counter was quite rude, especially to my sister who has disabilities. She ordered a cone and this girl shoved it into her hand before she could even get her money out. It is obvious that she must take time to retrieve her money, as she has a cane which she HEAVILY relies on. No thank you from this so-called employee either. I'd like to know HOW did she get this job?

Quick and easy to get to. Walk or bike. Has lots of stuff for how small. Of course, you'll pay more but no need to drive downtown. Cookies, carrot cakes, and baguettes = heavenly. Ice cream, if you like that.

The neighborhood grocery store with fresh fruit & vegetables that serves drip coffee (no espresso), small selection of desserts, breakfast sandwiches and ice cream. If you’re in the area, you should check it out. Not worth the trip to sconset for unless you’re planning to check out the other cute shops around it. They also have a small section sell cute home goods and gifts.

Sconset Market is such a classic! The sprinkle pretzels are always my go-to... sweet and salty and just really good. The store has a great vibe, music, and the staff are super friendly. Feels like summer every time I go.

We stayed on Sconset and came here daily for pastries and coffee. An adorable shop - the muffins are famous and the coffee cake was incredible too!

To be fair, I didn't walk in to every single retail store on the island... but this was the only place I found that sold their own diffuser, which were locally made. You better believe I bought every scent. Unfortunately, they don't sell the diffusers inline so I'll have to go back to get more. They also have other Sconset-made home goods. They're also a market so you can get prepped foods or just the ingredients if you wish. They have other souvenirs that were very tempting. AND... they sell ice cream! They're next to a small outdoor public space so everyone pretty much moseyed on over there to enjoy their ice creams.

I want to complain about the prices. I want to complain that it doesn't open until 8am. But the Blueberry Muffins are too damn good. And it's The Sconset Market. 5 stars.

It's a fun little market for those staying on Sconset to grab anything they forgot in town. The prices are quite expensive though, your paying for the convenience. If you came for the evening, I recommend grabbing a snack or drink and heading to Sconset beach around 6:30 for pre-dinner drinks. It's great for an ice cream run after dinner! Kid's love riding their bikes down there at night. They have toys, produce, baking goods, canned goods, diary, postcards and touristy knickknacks, magazines, newspapers, advil etc. Small parking lot available, bike parking, air pumps for tires and walkable to Sconset beach.

overpriced but i guess that's what you get on a island. got a sandwich and was mid. cost me like $20. deli meat was too salty. quick and good service.

Stopped here on a bike ride a few days ago to pick up two sandwiches (roast beef/provolone/horseradish mayo and ham/Swiss/honey mustard) and a large cup of ice cream. The sandwiches are pre-made but still mostly fresh. The bread wasn't great and tasted a bit old but they use lettuce between the bread and sauce to keep the bread from getting soggy which was a good idea. The meat, cheese and condiments were very good. Overall I'd give these sandwiches 3 stars and would probably go with a made-to-order option (e.g. a wrap) next time. The ice cream was amazing and kept this from being a 3-star review. We had a plot of the Mississippi Mud (coffee with oreo chunks) and S'mores. Both were some of the best ice cream I've had in recent memory. The guy taking the order at the window was friendly enough and generally pleasant to interact with.

The Sconset Market is the perfect spot to stock up on snacks and drinks for the beach, fresh produce and meats for the BBQ, or that random thing you forgot for your vacation. Serving as a general store with coffee, ice cream, and plenty of lunch options, the Sconset Market is a must hit location when visiting this side of the Island.

I like this store more than I should given the high prices here. But the service is good, the store is charming and it is especially convenient if you are staying in the Sconset area of the island. I love the old-fashioned look of this place right down to the worn wood floors. You can find most everything here from groceries to other essentials but this is not where you want to do the bulk of your grocery shopping I stopped in to pick up some grapefruit juice when we decided we wanted Greyhound cocktails.....vodka and grapefruit juice and very refreshing on a hot evening. The price for a quart bottle of Tropicana brand grapefruit juice (ie nothing fancy) was $4.25 which is ridiculous when you can get a half gallon of the same thing for less than that at Stop and Shop. But as stores like this know, convenience often trumps rational shopping decisions. There are local items here too like post-cards, faux Nantucket baskets, touristy refrigerator magnets and the like. You can also get coffee, muffins, ice cream cones, cheese, sandwiches, bags of ice and locally grown veggies. This is the stop for your New York Times, Boston Globe or the Nantucket newspaper. It seems like this is a gathering place of sorts for the neighbors which is nice. Sconset Market has its merits and I'm glad it's here but I know going in I'm going to pay through the nose for most things. Sometimes I can just suck it up because of the convenience factor and other times I know it's best to keep driving down the road.

Cute spot. Delicious ice cream. Don't try the chicken salad. Lots of convenient items. Friendly staff.

Cute market with a nice selection. Had to stop after Elin Hilderbrand has mentioned the town & market in her books. We picked up fresh salads & sandwiches for the beach - yummy! I'm sorry I missed the fresh baked baguettes (after 4:00). Bluefish salad was very nice. Charming town & location.

'Sconset Market is an upper-end, gourmet market with fresh produce, processed items, and lots of sweets. You could make dinner, bring a housewarming gift, or stock up your fridge. I like that a lot of their items were made for the market itself, and a lot of the items were locally made, as well. The market also carries some Nantucket souvenirs and tomatoes from Bartlett. Yes, the prices are high, but you will find pretty much anything you need. Plus, it's open until 10!

Great and convenient. Friendly staff. Love the fresh produce. The bread this year on sandwiches taste old, dry and falls apart. Last year the bread was great. Very grateful to have this market when renting in Sconset this summer

I love the market and look forward to It opening every year. The owners work hard, and their efforts show. It's not cheap, but how could it be- it's a seasonal shop. The convenience is priceless, and the new owners have done a great job. Their market adds so much to the village!

New owners are quite rude and the guy who picked up the phone when I called (I believe the owner) needs a lesson in phone etiquette. Wow. This place has gone downhill.

'Sconset native here. Thats no BS, I'm not just saying that when in fact I was born at Nantucket Cottage Hospital and driven out to Sconset, no--I was born in my house, in Sconset, right about the point where Milestone Road becomes Main street. I can tell that no one from Sconset (or from the Island for that matter) has written a review. There has been no mention of the old nickname the "sconset mark-up" ... what can I say we were a clever lot. Anyway, there is no way to write an unbiased review, the Sconset Market will always mean a lot more to me than is really warranted by the market itself. Most of my childhood the market was, well, closed. Sconset is a ghost town in the winter, most of my neighbors were empty houses. The market being open meant that it was the happy season, the warm season filled with people and no school. My sister and I would walk down and by candy or some ridiculous toy from the one revolving toy rack. Because of this it is an article of faith with me that candy should cost ¢55. If there is one take away from this it is: don't review things you have an emotional attachment to!

So many childhood memories revolve around this quaint little market. Yeah, it's overpriced, but I don't get care. Whether it is the ice cream or the snacks or the nantucket nectars, I have been to this place hundreds and hundreds of times. As a matter of fact, I'm going right now.

laughably high prices -- even for nantucket. On top of that, this "gourmet market" has the nerve to not even accept credit cards. But they will happily point you to their ATM in the corner with its extortionist fees. If the service was friendly and "home-towny" Id probably give it another star or two, but its not, expect your typical big city convenience store level of friendliness. Id say stay away from this place, but they pretty much have a monopoly in sconset,so you dont have much of a choice.

This is a fun, useful destination/convenience store. Grab a drink after the bicycle ride out here and a trinket as your reward. They have lots for the space, kitchen sponges etc... I hit the sale day and the cashier was just making up the prices. When I corrected him on one item he said, "relax lady, it's a sale." Bought some delicious gourmet jams and cookies and a sconset tote.

We stayed at Big Enough. Very convenient market, but very overpriced ice cream, but cheap soda.

Sure, it's expensive, but that's expected for a seasonal market that has basically everything you need and a nice little selection of gourmet-ish items (there is smattering of artisanal food items that works nicely). And, it's in Sconset, a tiny hamlet that would clash with a more contemporary or larger store. The coffee is good and hot; the bread is fresh; you can get organic lettuce in the middle of nowhere; and it's friendly enough (it's a market, not "Cheers"). So, enjoy Sconset and pay the price for the luxury of even having a market in such a lovely place.

The day the 'Sconset Market goes out of business a big part of 'Sconset will be gone. Let's hope it doesn't happen. Sure, the prices are nuts. And yes, the really don't need all the gift-y things like hand cream, bath soap, not-real Lightship baskets, etc. -- and wish Mark would get some more sweatshirts & raincoats that say 'Sconset (not just Nantucket) on them, but maybe they're hard to come by. Anyway, it was a huge part of my childhood, and my parents' -- It's where my Dad met my Mom in the 1950s. That's when John Salvas' Service Station was there, where Dad pumped gas, and delivered groceries for the Market. Long Live 'Sconset Market...now if we could only bring back the old Book Store.

At the far end of the island you will find this little market with all the "essentials" (by Nantucket standards) for dinner or a snack by the beach, as well as beach towels, coffee mugs, post cards, etc. Cheese selection is interesting as others have noted. Also, there is a cash machine inside, which is handy. If you want cheaper prices, however, stock up at the Stop & Shop, but it won't have the charm of this store.

Everything about this market is terrible. I have been visiting Nantucket for the greater part of my life and though I have never had a good experience there, my most recent was absolutely the worst. It all started on the dewy, early morning of my mother's birthday when I thought a surprise brunch would begin the day wonderfully. When I walked in to the market, I asked the gentleman behind the counter if they sold bagels by the dozen. His eyes widened in this condescending, expression of shock and confusion. "You want a dozen bagels, as in 12?" My first thought was, "Yes, you are correct. One Dozen does equal 12, for maybe there was a language barrier and I hadn't tried converting my request to the metric system." However, I said nothing and smiled. He looked down and said "this is what, I have". Since I decided to move past his pervious comment, I just said, "yes, that would be great, thank you." He tells me to go to the other side of the counter where someone else was ringing orders so I made my way there to stand on line. The man who was struggling with the task of placing 12 - yes 12, bagels into the brown bag comes to me and says, "do you need 12 cream cheeses?" Now, while I am not a veteran bagel packer, I would think that putting 12 individual cream cheeses in the bag would seem silly, since you could just make one larger one and stick it on in there, but, to avoid any further confusion to the fact that someone might have 11 people staying at the house and therefore need 12 whole bagels to feed them, I once again stood rather silent just taking in the stupidity of the employees. He said, "You're better off just getting cream cheese in the back." Ok no problem, I would love to buy the small Philadelphia cream cheese packs for $7 a piece instead of you figuring out how to pack one cream cheese in the bag, because the saying goes, a man who argues with an idiot makes the bigger idiot. The cashier then began calling, "miss, are you ever coming back?" I know, you're thinking, the bigger idiot is the one still standing in the market, but like a car crash or a train wreck, I really couldn't look away. I know it was wrong to throw in my next curve ball of asking if they could add in a few assorted muffins and pastries, you know, just to give the people a little variety. This was probably the most difficult of the questions. As I went to pay,- and everyone - this is my favorite part, the person ringing up the complicated breakfast order looks up from the computing machine and says $112.00. I said, "I'm sorry, 12 bagels and 6 pastries, and you want $112.00. The person ringing up the food turns to the man bagging and says well, at least tell her what she is paying for. - Now, I know that at this point you probably get the point that bagger of the breakfast assorted food most likely had an IQ of about 78, so you can't really be upset with his response of "I don't have to tell her anything", but for me I just needed to get out of there. Dont worry there was good news here. I GOT A SCONSET STICKER FOR SPENDING MORE THAN $100 DOLLARS! YES! Thank you Sconset Market! Just what a gal like me has always longed for. I would love to ruin the bumper of my car and give your rude, asinine market place free advertising by putting this ridiculous sticker on display for you. Well the man ringing pulls out an $18 3 oz jar of Nantucket Local Jelly from the bag and says, "Um, well this was $18.00, the DOZEN BAGELS WERE $42... let that sink in... the cream cheese was $7 each and each pastry was $4.95." Everyone reading this will say, and you're the moron who paid for that, and you will be right. However, I said to the cashier, that jelly isn't mine please take it off. The next response out of his mouth is, "oh, well you now fall under the $100, can I have the sticker back?" Now, I am not saying that the bagels and the pastries weren't edible. They were. However, Nantucket Bakery which isn't too far is wonderful and I would recommend you go there. Because honestly, I would rather be dropped in shark invested waters, 100 miles from land, with fish heads tied to me than ever step foot in this joke of an establishment again.

I love Sconset Market. I don't care if the prices are high. The rest of Nantucket ain't exactly cheap. We like to visit Nantucket every summer and stay in Sconset. We walk to The Market every morning for our danish or bagel - whatever. Summer wouldn't be quite as nice with Sconset Market.

Absolutely horrible! The prices are criminal, the service is rude and condescending, and the food is mediocre. Horrible establishment.

The best homemade blueberry muffins! Get there fast they sell out quickly.

Food is great but the staff is rude. Particularly the cashier with the thick rimmed black glasses. Very arrogant tone when speaking with customers. Poor customer service.
