STUNNING!!!! Beautiful setting on a summer’s afternoon for dinner. The staff are an absolute delight, I want to be friends with all of them! Do not go past the lobster rolls 🤤 best!!! Bummed we were too full from dinner to try the key lime pie but we’ll back for it 🍋‍🟩🫵🏼

Had a very enjoyable lunch at Scottie's. The restaurant looks beautiful and is steps away from the beach, parking and public transport options. The menu is extensive with options to suit everyone, there is also a takeaway fish and chips menu for those short on time. The sambal lobster milk bun was a great starter, the addition of a potato rösti is a game changer! The fish and chips were perfectly golden and crispy, I would also recommend getting at least one of their hand cut potato scallops because they're excellent! The drinks menu offers a variety of cocktails, beers and wines in addition to non-alcoholic options. Service was cheerful and efficient. Will certainly be back!

Google
Beautiful spot for a lovely dinner. Highly recommend the lobster rolls - tasty morsels of lobster with a bit of spice, between cloud-soft milk buns. Another standout is the key lime pie - melts in your mouth with some amazing shortbread to back it up. Gets busy between 6-7pm, would recommend booking in advance.

Food, drinks and service were all fantastic. Delicious flavours and attentive service. Only drawback was no air conditioning and as our table was right next to the kitchen it was uncomfortably warm so made the dining experience not as good as it could or should have been. I’ll be back, just ensuring a table outside on a warm night.

Such a charming place tucked behind the main beach. Their lobster burger is absolutely delicious, must try really in Newcastle. Super fresh lobster salad on top of the crispy side of a hash brown, wrapped in a bun, genius! The flounder is well done as well, just right and not overdone. Highly recommended!

We paid $96, and was so disappointed with the amount of food we got. We ordered one fish and salad and one fish and chips, the salad was literally 4 pieces of lettuce covered in soy sauce, no tomato or any other salad, for $36?!!! Fish with chips was so oily I feel sick after eating it :( Will not be coming back or recommending this place sorry! No ill intent but just so much money for so little food. What a rip!

Google
Quite possibly the best hot chips in Australia, especially after a swim in the nation’s best ocean baths, thanks Newy.

3.5stars Overall mixed feeling about the experience at this place. I'd say is battered barramundi is one of the best in Newy. Crispy battered with perfectly cooked fresh fish. They use Birch and Waite tartare sauce which was yummy. The chips was so-so. They're on the bland side. Potatoes need more salt before they fry them or just need a different variety. Other than that they're cooked well. The salad was ok. The lettuce were rusty which was off putting, but the soy sauce-based salad dressing was nice. Crumbs calamari with the aioli was yummy and cooked well. The calamari was tender. The service was overall lacking. We were initially served by a new staff who understandably didn't know how to key in the orders. Then we sat down on one of the tables that didn't have the reserve signs on them / not marked at all as reserved. We were told to move as they're reserved, which we find inappropriate. Price is definitely on the expensive side for value.

Yelp
Great location, lovely atmosphere but the food is a touch overpriced and a little tired compared to how it used to be. I don't mind some hot chips and a beer on the grass though

Yelp
To date...this is my favorite restaurant in Newcastle! It is one block from the beach and the seafood is incredible! We had fresh oysters, a cabbage salad and the most amazing fish and chips! I highly recommend.

Yelp
Something's fishy (and chippy) here, and I dare say I like it. If you're in need of a gourmet burger and a thick shake or a takeaway fish finger sandwich to eat on the beach, this humble restaurant (complete with a super cute shaded patio) is your spot. A hearty menu of gourmet pub grub and American diner favourites, Scottie's is somewhat of a Newcastle institution - if perhaps in the I'm-too-poor-to-eat-here-regularly-but-I'll-definitely-bring-my-parents-when-they-visit sort of way. The food is beautifully presented on large wooden boards and the service couldn't be sweeter.

Yelp
Everyone knows Scottie's is THE spot to acquire your beachside fish and chips (and a mean burger) in Newcastle so there's not much more I can tell you that other Yelpers haven't already. But did you know they do a splendiferous beetroot scallop? Forget what you knew of old school potato scallops and give your tastebuds an upgrade. Be warned, these caramely-warm-slightly sweet roasted beets in a light batter are addictive, but when you're this close to the beaches of Newcastle and gorgeous surrounds, who cares if you end up at Scottie's everyday?

Yelp
Seafood was nice however the chips and wraps don't come with chips and for what you get this is WAY overpriced.

Yelp
Deceptively up market, a little out of the way, Scotties is a hidden gem to the uninitiated but an institution to the Newcastle locals. I enjoyed a lunch here after a particularly rigorous (if not overly skillful) beach volleyball game. The outdoor area is a beautiful place to sit on a sunny afternoon. A nice mix of fish & chip shop fare, burgers and some of the healthier Australian options (the salmon and avocado bruschetta is quite good) is complimented by good coffee and great shakes. It is a little pricey for what you get and the staff can be a little unsure at times, but the food is good and the fish and chips rule all.

Ambrose R.

Yelp
The barra and flathead were as good as you'd get in an upmarket pub, similarly priced and we were able to walk down the road and eat them by the sea. The house-made tartare sauce is worth half a star on its own. There should be a chips and salad option rather than having to choose between the two (maybe there is - we got one of each so didn't need to ask).

Bianca M.

Yelp
Extremely nice service, and they were kind enough to let us use powerpoints to charge our phones when needed. I found the prices were a little on the high side, but the food was definitely fresh. Only complaint was that everything happened so slow, particularly when it came to getting coffees out.

Rosie M.

Yelp
Great service and ambience. However the fish and chips were not as good as we hoped or worth $14.

Belinda N.

Yelp
take away fish and chips was pleasant enough but $22 is a bit rich for no table servide and outside tables. apparently you can sit inside in the evening.

Michael K.

Yelp
Very expensive for what you get, owner very rude, I would suggest that in Newcastle East you could do a lot better

Yelp
Scotties is an institution. Only place to get your fish and chip hit over summer. They are also licensed and have some really good live music nights every now and then.

Rebecca W.

Yelp
The food is great and the location is excellent, but the service is slow and sloppy. Don't dare to ask if your food is very far away: you'll be given a fair bit of indignation by the staff and some snide comments when your food finally does arrive.
