The Candlelight Concert we attended last night was such a great experience. The Collins Quartet performed an all-Adele set and completely exceeded my expectations. I was a little worried—Adele’s voice is incredible, but her songs can be a bit mellow. Not this time. The arrangements were energetic, fun, and kept me wide awake the whole time. And the venue—wow. It was held at the historic Scottish Rite Temple. We looked it up while waiting for the show to start, and the history of the building added an extra layer of charm to the night. If you haven’t been to a Candlelight Concert yet, go! It’s such a beautiful and unique experience.

🕯️🕯️🕯️The Candlelight Tribute to Queen at the Scottish Rite Temple was a truly beautiful and unique experience. The warm glow of countless candles created an intimate and enchanting atmosphere, setting the perfect stage for an unforgettable evening. The musicians were incredibly talented, performing with passion, precision, and a deep appreciation for Queen’s timeless music. Hearing these iconic songs interpreted through violins, cello, and bass added a new depth to the melodies, making the experience even more special. It was a wonderful way to step out of the routine and immerse in the beauty of live classical music. Events like these keep the essence of legendary music alive, offering a fresh perspective on the songs we love. If you appreciate live instrumental performances and the magic of great music, this is definitely an experience worth having!

Nice experience. And I love that there is no extra fee. They have parking, not enough but it in nice. The musicians have an excellent vibe and interact. Really nice. The audience was cheery and respectful. I loved it. We were delighted by "Cold play" and "Imagine Dragons". Really nice picks!

Great experience to have for both you and your family. Very elegant settings. This is my second time attending this event and I’m definitely purchasing more tickets for me and my family. The venue was very historic looking. A beautiful structure with great high ceilings and pillars.

Yelp
It is a historic Masonic building built in the 1920's. Beautifully located in downtown Miami by the river. It has ample parking. The building has 2 lodge rooms, one large theater and 1 large and 1 small banquet hall. Attended an event here the other night. Beautify building inside and outside! The staff was very professional and courteous. A beautiful building, very well maintained and with a lot of history.

Yelp
Here for the Candlelight Series Concert tonight 8/19/23. String quartet elegantly covering Neo Soul & Hip Hop goodies from Maxwell, India Arie, Jill Scott, John Legend, etc. Great date night. Not a bad seat in the house. Makeshift bar set up. Service happy & nice pours. Also offered grown-up lunchables for those who are starving. Really nice night & quality entertainment. I don't know how I found out about it, but there are lots of fun events on an app called Fever.

Yelp
Well what a sight, very majestic - and located right opposite the delightful Lummus park and right near the riverwalk way there, so definitely worthy of a visit. See my pictures to appreciate why I say it is Majestic. _____________________________ Here is some info about it I found on the web. "Rising three stories tall with four Doric columns on the Third Street side, it is beautifully embellished and the Ziggurat-shaped mass of the roof capped by a cupola is quite striking when viewed from the river. A broad flight of steps leads up to a portico with four large columns riding majestically to the top of the building, through which the main entrance opens into a spacious foyer, comfortably furnished as a lounge. On opposite sides of this foyer are the General Secretary's office and the Business office, and the center opening opposite the main entrance leads to the corridor of the auditorium, from which a ramp ascends to the main floor. Two stairways give access to the balconies. The auditorium, in addition to the main floor, has two main balconies and two smaller balconies over the side corridors, with a combined seating capacity of 715 people. The Egyptian motif is carried out here also, with the room rising to a large dome from which is suspended a magnificent chandelier done in many colors. The several exits and ornamental grills are beautifully decorated in the same manner and on the four columns that support the dome are large light panels featuring the emblems of the Order."

Yelp
The Scottish Rite Temple is part of the Lummus Park Historic District which was Miami's first park built in 1909. The building is Miami's first Art Deco building. It has Greek classical columns topped with four two headed eagles which are symbols of the Scottish Rite. It was designed by the architectural firm of Kiehnel and Eliott and built by pioneer John B. Orr. The pyramid roof was based on the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. The temple was completed in 192 and dedicated on March 12,1924. The creed of the Scottish Rite is "Human progress is our cause, liberty of thought our supreme wish, freedom of conscience our mission, and the guarantee of equal rights to all people everywhere our ultimate goal." The building was damaged during Hurricane Andrew but was completely restored in 1992 at a cost of 2.7 million dollars. Inside the building is a theater that used to show silent movies and since 2016 can be rented out for events. Some of the events are only for members but they hold a number of events that are open to the public. A complete list can be found on the temple website. Even if you are not attending a program this magnificent historic building is worth a visit.

What a wonderful experience to be able to check this place out!! Thank you Candlelight Concert for selecting this venue. The decor for this evening was perfect!! The number of seats (50-60) was just right. they set up a nice bar for the evening, expect to pay around $20 per drink.. :( The concert was extraordinary, simply one of a kind event!! sound, lighting, and artist were amazing. Can wait to do this again!!! 100% RECOMMENDED

Yelp
One of the things I love about this city is that you find great places when you least expect to. Take the Scottish Rite Temple. I had no idea this even existed and had it not been that I signed up to win tickets to the OUTshine Film Festival I wouldn't have ever known. Maybe I'm weird, but the entire scenario of being a tourist in my own city bugs me. I think that, as well as the insane amounts of traffic, are why I avoid Downtown Miami, Brickell, and sometimes even Miami Beach. But anyway, I'm glad I got out of my comfort zone and went. The temple itself is vast and there's plenty of parking around. You have meter parking on the street, plus you have it in a nearby lot. You shouldn't have issues finding a spot even on a busy night like the night we went. Yelp lists this as a historic landmark and you can definitely see it going inside. The architecture is striking, the area massive, and from what I gathered from the opening night of the festival, this isn't the first time they host an event for a festival. The event had 200+ people easily. Everyone was comfortable and we sat to see an Italian movie. Later, we went to another section of the temple for food. While the food was bland, I must say that this is an awesome place for an event. I do wish to return on a regular day and see what it's like though (if only to compare).

Yelp
What a nice place! We were there for the opening night of the OUTshine Film Festival. We entered the main auditorium to see the opening film and were amazed at the structure, it's just breathtaking. The view of the stage was clear, even though we were situated midway at the back. The afterparty, located in the lower level, was dressed up real fancy. They had a DJ and the servers with food, open bar, and shots, were very friendly. It's a large space with cushioned chairs and sofas off to the side for some privacy when you need it. The men's room was a bit small but clean. Parking is located all the way around at the back of the building, and was only $5 for this event.

Yelp
Came to the Scottish Rite Temple recently to attend The OUTShine Film Festival and watch the premiere of My Big Gay Italian Wedding. To my surprise this event was held in a Masonic Temple and it was kind of interesting being inside since I know entrance to a temple is usually for members only OR if you're invited. The place was big inside. Lots of number 32s around engraved along the statues and Illuminati symbols, don't know the meaning? The movie was shown in a theatre area that looks like is also used for worship. There were multiple seating levels and also an area above the seating where they play the organ and other musical instruments, kind of like a church. After the premiere, which was excellent btw (a must watch), we were escorted downstairs to a banquet area where the party, food and drinks continued. It was decorated wedding like and even included a DJ. Great movie premier and start to the OUTShine Film Fesitval 9 day event. Here are some additional fun facts about the Scottish Rite Temple: Park Place Event Space and Theater is an event venue, located on NW 3rd Street at the Miami River, across from Miami's Historic Lummus Park, which is a perfect space for outdoor wedding ceremonies and cocktail parties prior to seated meals. The newly renovated banquet hall seats 400 guests and can accommodate 600 for cocktail receptions. The historic Temple Theater seats 800 and was originally a silent movie theater. The Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Miami is a splendid example of Egyptian architecture, Completed in 1924 at a cost of $350,000, including the land, it is an imposing edifice covering the major portion of five lots overlooking the Miami River on one side, and Lummus Park on the other, with two entrances on Third Street, and one on North River Drive. Street metered parking only in the surrounding areas.

Yelp
You would think after 20+ yrs of living in Mimi you would know landmarks like this one- what was I thinking. This was completely unexpected and I was incredibly pleased. Came here to see Jason Silva (if you haven't heard of him- jump on that STAT) and I have to say this place was perfect for this type of event. Like a lot of places in that area- parking isn't the greatest but I'm always early so it wasn't a problem. This is a Masonic Temple. It's old but you can feel the energy in there and of you look around you see all the symbols that I'm sure have their particular meaning. There are multiple tiers for seating- as much as it holds I think the size is just right. Place was clean- including the bathrooms and the staff was friendly. I can only imagine what a concert would sound like in there - hopefully I can find one there in the future. Very interesting place and I encourage everyone to check it out.

Yelp
I have to admit that I have not been inside the Scottish Rite Temple, but from what I know of the society, it is quite secretive and you need to be a member to be allowed much access inside. I am rating this high as a high among the cultural and historic places to visit in Miami. The architecture of the building is very majestic with Greeks (or are they Roman?) columns supporting the entry way. There are enigmatic eagle statues at the top of the building with the number 32 on each of them. What could that mean? The temple is in a historic section of Miami which is in the process of being revamped. Across the street in Lumus Park (see another review for that) and down the street are older building that are currently being used as low income apartments but look like they use to be hotels from the turn of the 20th Century. And just at the end of the block is the Miami River where you can see a lot of freight coming and going. The Temple and surrounding area is a great place for shooting photos if you are into urban stuff and non-dominant culture.

Yelp
As a longtime member of the Scottish Rite of Miami I can tell you that many of our meetings are open to any interested party and a tour may be easily arranged by calling the office and speaking to Brother Herman Gonzalez. We are very proud of our Temple and it is presently undergoing renovations. Parts including the Auditorum may be rented. Please feel free to arrange a visit.

Yelp
I recently had a pleasure of attending the Masonic Mozart chamber concert at the Scottish Rite Temple. What a treat it was to see this magnificent building from the inside. The orchestra and choir were superb, yet the audience a great disappointment: some people though it was acceptable to arrive half an hour late and disturb the listeners while they looked for their seats. At one point entire orchestra waited for two elder ladies to settle down and someone even brought a small child with them! I wish people showed more respect for the hard work the musicians put into their performance as well as their fellow listeners.

Yelp
The building is very old I believe from the 1920' I believe one of the original builders was also on the Panama Canal project as a builder. Inside there is an auditorium that seats about 1,000 members. Continued with in its walls are one of the last remaining (original condition) Pipe Organs, it enormous The interior is just as impressive as the exterior. The 32 stand for 32nd degree in Scottish Rite an apendant body of masonry, before joining the Scottish Rite you must be a Master Mason in good Standing.( a great institution ) It is an excellent place full of history that you could not imagine. The members are always available to show off the building as long as you coordinate in advance. For more information send me a message at alclaycomb@gmail.com and I may be able to put your or your group in touch with the right people. I also know that they are interested in opening up venues to the general public.
