Tricky tricky this one is. On one hand, (some of) the food was awesome, but on the other, the service was pretty rotten, especially when you factor in the price tag.
We had reservations and were seated fairly quickly, but then we waited. We waited a little longer. I noticed the guy who had been seated at the same time as us got bread. We waited some more. The server brought us our wine. Still no bread. Finally, we got our appetizer and I just asked for bread. We got it, but...
The biggest problem throughout the night was that it was clear the server was not paying any attention to us. I don't want special treatment or for anyone to care about my dietary needs, but this was a little bit over the top. I am honestly a little surprised the food came out correctly. We are vegan, and so we always double check to make sure that the food is as well. The brussels sprouts appetizer - specifically ordered vegan - came out with lardons and creme fraiche on the side. (Um??) The bread came with butter. Immediately after I refused dessert because there were no vegan options, the server brought me cream with my coffee because she "couldn't remember if I asked for cream and sugar." Seriously, I am not a princess, but are you listening to **anything** I say? The people at Subway pay more careful attention to me when I am talking. It was kind of ridiculous, although also wasteful. If she had spent 30 seconds thinking or listening to us, she could have saved bringing unnecessary items to the table that would get tossed anyway. But I guess when you're charging $25 for polenta, who cares?
Which brings me to the polenta. It was awesome! There were only two vegan options, so I did the polenta and my husband did the risotto (which was average at best - don't do the risotto!). The polenta was covered in a variety of vegetables and flavors, and it was truly exceptional. Had it not been for this amazing dish, I would have been probably giving a pretty big thumbs down to Scotty's Table.
2.5 stars really, but you get an extra half star for having Louis de Grenelle sparkling on the menu because I haven't found that in the States otherwise.
