Visiting in the Green Season worried us a little bit, but our trip coincided with a school drop off, August it was. The weather was actually not bad, with some typical tropical rains allowing us to catch up on reading and downloaded movies, but what an amazing experience we’ve had.|If you love wildlife this is definitely a must-visit place. Whales this time of year are practically a give when you go out on a snorkelling/diving boat trip to Caño Island and on boat trip from the airport to the lodge (wet landing). Early morning walks around the gorgeous laid-back lodge alone allowed for plenty of sightings of coati’s, spider and howler monkeys, a tapir, agouti’s, birds including macaws, humming birds, toucans, night walks with spiders, frogs and so on. We went on a diving trip to Caño Island with terrific dive master Jimmy and his skipper. While the reefs are nice, we saw the most amazing animals including plenty of white tip sharks, several sting rays including an enormous one, moray eels, and different species of turtle. Visibility was less due to the weather, but we had a very relaxing dive (doable for all levels). The jungle hike was nice as well. And we enjoyed the most wonderful facials from Catharina in a bungalow overlooking the sea, truly magical. Sunsets are a highlight; between 5 and 6 relaxing on the Terra terrace under the care of Justin and friends with every night another spectacular display. A very happy place mostly due to its outstanding staff; from the front desk with Maria Jose to the wonderful restaurant staff including wonderful barman Eduardo and Justin, cook Pablo and the rest of the strong team. We loved our spacious airconditioned room where we relaxed between activities and the pool. Meals are local and simply delicious food. We tried a lot of cocktails, in short a perfect 5 days. We would recommend to stay at least 3 nights, 4 days; for us 5 nights was great. Thank you to the entire staff for making this such a special unforgettable experience
