Came here for a couple of nights away with my husband and we had a lovely time. The hotel is more of a guest house, with old fashioned furniture and decorations that felt a bit mismatched in places ||The room was comfortable, warm and inviting with a lovely view over the bay and the bed super comfy. It was very peaceful as there are no TV’s (which the website did make clear) but it did have good WiFi. Tea and coffee facilities are outside of the room which was a bit strange and were you to make a cuppa in the morning, boiling the kettle would be noisy and most likely wake all the other guests in the bedrooms close by! ||We had dinner here on our first night only and it was delicious - we both completely scrapped our plates clean! But we decided against eating there the second night as it isn’t cheap and the menu was the same as the previous night. ||Staff are friendly and polite, but most are not local so if you are looking for an authentic Irish experience, try somewhere else! ||The spa was very disappointing indeed! Soulless, with a small, very cold swimming pool, an out door hot tub and an ok sauna, but a very lame gym! There were no staff around in the spa and it felt very weird and in need of some TLC. We actually had a good laugh about it as it was so lame, so you have been warned if you come here not to expect much!||We usually love a hotel breakfast and had high hopes Screebe House would produce something good as dinner had been so tasty. Sadly though it was disappointing - the full Irish was overcooked, chewy bacon, a greasy potato thing, and very ordinary sausages, the poached eggs were also totally overcooked so I left mine. The continental buffet was a bit lack lustre and the coffee terrible. ||Overall, we have had a great time as we were in need of a break, but we probably wouldn’t come back again, as there are plenty of other beautiful places in Connemara to try.
