A great stationer! Love visiting when in New Orleans. David and his team are so accommodating and helpful- everything about Scriptura exemplifies what a small business should be. If you’re into all things stationery, you need to visit when in the area.

Anyone who is fond of traditional, letterpress invitations with a touch of whimsy should look no further than Scriptura. My husband and I loved working with Margaret and Katie to plan out the stationery needs for our wedding. We had a colorful, storybook naturalist theme (featuring none other than alligators and spoonbills) that was fully and lovingly embraced by the team. From the invitations to the matchbooks and fan-shaped programs, everyone was blown away by the level of detail Scriptura provided. We're so thankful to Margaret and the entire Scriptura team. The invitation suite they built for us has become a cherished memento from our wedding day -- beautiful enough to frame.

One of the cutest stores in NOLA; you should definitely visit this store if you ever come to this hood.

This is exemplary small business. Visiting the store is, as others have shared, a truly lovely experience. The quality of the products stand-out. Recently I decided to gift my colleagues pens with our business logo on them, and I wondered if Scriptura could do this. Yes! Dave patiently walked me through the options. He worked up digital designs on a few colors. Shared his expertise. And then voila -- the pens arrived exactly as promised, and they shine! He even accommodated my obsession with purple ink by changing the cartridge in each of these now-customized Retro 51 Tornado pens to my desired color. Summary: a special shop, run by people who care about the quality products they provide, and offer quality service in a highly respectful, kind way.

My experience with Scriptura has been absolutely wonderful! Margaret met with me to discuss in detail the type of invitations and thank you card designs I wanted for our wedding. With only a short time-frame for us planning a large wedding, Margaret took the stress away from me and helped with creating the moat beautiful wedding invitations! The inside of the envelope had an amazing vibrant colored print of the back of the St. Louis Cathedral, where we were married. I received so many compliments on how beautiful these invitations were from so many of our guests! Katie was also excellent with communicating with me during the entire process and also helped me with designing and ordering the stickers to go on top of our praline favors for the reception. I also purchased hostess gifts at Scriptura, and everyone I dealt with went above and beyond to help me. I am truly grateful and can’t thank them enough for everything!

Wandered in here with a friend while exploring Magazine Street. My friend loves all things stationery and writing so I thought this would be so cool, and it was! We spent a lot of time admiring the selection they had. There was a variety of items. There were notebooks and planners, along with folders and notecards. There was such a diverse selection of pens of all kinds! The owners were so helpful as well! They were readily able to answer any questions and aid in the shopping experience. My friend purchased a beautiful notebook and two refillable fountain pens. I bought a small notebook to use as a journal for the summer. Both notebooks are beautifully crafted, especially my friend's. It is bound with suede (genuine or vegan I am unsure). The paper is so nice as well. 5 stars across the board! I'd love to come back.

Beautiful work!! Sally was a breeze to work with. We got all of our wedding invitations and saves the dates done here and they were truly beautiful. Will continue to use them anytime I get the chance!

I'm so happy to have found Scriptura! I had to cancel my wedding, but wanted to order a small run of invitations for a celebratory dinner. Dave at Scriptura was more than happy to oblige, despite my tiny project. Our invites are gorgeous and we're absolutely thrilled with the finished product. Scriptura's designers created a custom monogram for us that we're using on a stationary order. I look forward to working with them for future events and life milestones--they have the cutest shower and announcement designs too! Thank you, Dave and Sallie--you two are such a pleasure to work with!

Yelp
Huge fan of Scriptura! They have the best stationary and similar card and letter/paper products (I don't know how else to describe it). The staff is super friendly and helpful and will take time to help you find the perfect gift or items for yourself. Yes, custom and imported stationary can be kind of pricey for what it is, BUT Scriptura does not inflate their prices (as far as I can tell). The prices are fair and on par with other shops in New Orleans. They are a great local shop where you can get the kind of help you need, as well as custom products. You cannot get that kind of help buying online, there's no two ways about it. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Scriptura for all your stationary needs whether your local or visiting New Orleans!

Yelp
I visited Scriptura this past Friday and I can't stop thinking how wonderful of an experience I had. I've been smiling because my family and I can't wait to work with Scriptura for my sister's wedding. We've been a tad stressed because this is the first wedding my immediate family is hosting and we want to make sure it's a once-in-a-lifetime memorable experience with every little detail. The level of customer service was astounding and I can't rave enough how pleasant they were. Seriously felt it was a scene from the original "Miracle on 34th Street" when Macy's began informing their customers where their best options to purchase were available. The quality of goods and customization services was superb and it's quite easy to see why they have such a loyal customer base. When you enter this store you immediately feel of sense of genuineness and nostalgia. (TBH I felt like I was in a muggle version of a store from Harry Potter when he first gets his quill supplies in the first movie) Everything is carefully curated and you can not only customize letterhead and invitations; however, they even offer customization on koozies, wedding materials, stadium cups, and a wax seal! They're building one out for my father as I want to gift it to him just because. My parents (the true bridezillas honestly lol) were against my sister initially having koozies; however, the koozies Scriptura presents have even made my picky parents happy to consider them. They're a higher quality and not the styrofoam but what really blows their koozies out of the water amongst others is the details and the texture of the koozies. They feel like a higher end wedding giveaway instead of an online print service. Keep in mind though they can make custom lettering and invites for ANY OCCASION. I'm even wanting to make cups for 30th birthday just because haha. Whenever you do get anything customized here, they'll send you a digital proof before it goes into production. I really appreciate this because there's room for tweaks if need be. I'm currently getting my sister some custom letterhead as she's getting married and I was very appreciative of the honest feedback and just the genuine conversation we were having. Scriptura offers their services worldwide although I highly recommend physically visiting their store if possible. I've been sold and I will forever be a loyal customer now. PS They have one of the cutest dogs ever that quietly sleeps in his doggie bed within the store!

Yelp
Scriptura created both our rehearsal dinner and wedding invitations. We first visited Scriptura a year before our wedding and had the most lovely meeting. Not only did we design both our wedding and rehearsal dinner invitations at that meeting but they also gave us a tour of their studio. They showed us how they printed and pressed each card. It was so neat learning about the process. It was like a blast from the past seeing all of their antique machinery. Our invitations were elegant and New Orleans-esqe. The paper quality, artwork, and design was stunning. Although we live in a different state, we will continue to use Scriptura for all of our stationary and invitation in the future.

Yelp
Wonderful shop! Had a very specific order that needed to be completed ASAP, and Dave was very patient, understanding, and communicative. His creative suggestions and the ultimate embossing were fantastic as well. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
If I were going to start a business and open a store, chances are it would be either an antique store or a stationery store. And if it was a stationery store it would most decidely be something like this one in New Orleans which I would describe as 2011 meets the 1800s when you walk through the door. And when you do walk through the wooden door the first thing you hear is the welcoming tinkle of a bell. I love a door with a tinkling bell! It's located in a rustic style building complete with brick floor and an old world charm. It's serene and pretty in here and seeing the array of gorgeous goods, it made me want to settle in and spend some time leisurely browsing. Scriptura is filled with incredible stationery, beautifully designed individual sheets of wrapping paper, (some that I would frame rather than just use for wrapping gifts), exquisitely bound journals, calligraphy items, elegant pens, a variety of envelope sealing waxes, metal sealing stamps and art cards. You're reminded what a pleasure the act of writing can be as opposed to pressing QWERTY keys. This is a wonderful reminder of days not so very long ago when writing by hand was the norm. It provides a reminder that writing by hand shouldn't be thought of as too time consuming but rather as an art-form worth in which you should indulge yourself from time to time. When I see beautiful writing paper and implements it helps me turn on the creativity and allows me to think about what I might write in a particular journal if I bought it. I tend to write in a more personalized, thoughtful style when I write by hand. There's little that's more enjoyable to me than sitting at a pretty desk surrounded by a selection of beautiful writing papers, (handmade papers are even better) or with a hand-bound journal and then whiling away some time writing with a beloved pen. In this way, the visual and the tactile come together into one sensual experience. Scriptura is the kind of place that reminds me to slow down and helps me to point my compass back to a state of mindfulness rather than allowing myself to blindly obey the pull toward rush, rush, rush. Lovely store. Lovely vibe. I recommend a visit.

Yelp
There really is no comparison in New Orleans. A vast array of items in a small store, Scriptura carries everything you may ever need related to stationery. Margaret is an incredible designer who is elegant and creative beyond words. She has worked with those who have no idea where to begin and limited funds; those who are in constant need of invitations and stationery; and those seeking to mark that very special occasion in a unique way. No matter who the client may be or the amount of the budget, Margaret is always warm and welcoming and brings her very best to the project at hand. I have ordered many items with her and I really cannot imagine doing business elsewhere.

Yelp
Wonderful products, reasonable pricing, and talented staff. I had invitations created for an event. Sallie spent 30 minutes speaking with me to understand what I wanted and showed me many different options. She then had an artist hand draw my idea and had the mock up to me within 2 days. The hand made, gorgeous invitations were in my hand within a week. The attention to details was outstanding. The price was far more reasonable that I had anticipated. They even made personalized koozies. I cannot recommend this place more. Every step of the process was far above any other company I have worked with. Great for small and large events.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of letter writing and stationary. It always feels more special and personalized to receive something handwritten in the mail, rather than just an email or text. I finally made it to this store, instead of just browsing their website. What a beautiful location it is too! They were playing great music from Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. They have all kinds of cards, postcards, pens, calendars, wrapping paper, etc. All very high quality items. They tend to be on the pricier side though. Up the stairs and towards the back, they have an area where you can order personalized items like wedding invitations and things of that sort. The staff seemed friendly and they have a dog that hangs out under the table to greet people too. If I were going to splurge on some local NOLA themed stationary, this would be the place to do it!
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
If you have a writer in your life, this is the place to stop. Fancy pens, fancy notepaper, choice gift items and Nola themed note cards/pads and Christmas cards (at this time of year). I found a perfect German style paper craft for a friend who misses her home country most of all at this time of year. I think their main business is personalized stationery. And this was part my annual Magazine-Street-Black-Friday-Shopping-Extravaganza with my Mom.

Yelp
The workers here are super helpful! I was expecting a snobby crew, but to my surprise they are genuine people who care very much about customer service! They know their stock and were able to find exactly what I was looking for within seconds! Not only was the staff so nice, but the stationery was beautiful and reasonably priced. I will go back here for all of my stationery needs. I left feeling so glad that I had walked inside. So hard to find places like that these days.

Yelp
Recently went to New Orleans on a work trip, and popped into Scriptura to look around during my down time since I love paper, cards, notebooks, and planners. The store was beautiful, organized, and well laid out. For all the planner lovers: they sell a good variety of Filofax binders, the spiral-bound Kate Spade planners, and a few others, I believe. They also have Heidi Swapp and Sugar Paper accessories - very cute. I came across three employees and all were helpful and friendly, even making small talk. I really hate when employees hover around customers in stationery stores, especially when I'm browsing, because I like to take my time to feel the weight and texture of the paper and I can be indecisive around so many pretty things. They let me wander around to my heart's content without being rude or pushy. I didn't plan on buying anything, but ended up walking out with some beautiful embroidered paper, tiny little envelopes and notecards, a notepad, and really pretty file folders. This store is great and I will be sure to go back again next time I'm in New Orleans!

Yelp
What a gem! This little store carries a HUGE supply of stationary, pens, and other paper goods. It is a writer's paradise! The staff is extremely helpful too! I bought a fountain pen that had a cartridge stuck inside. Since I was on vacation, I had no utensils to try and pry this thing out, and I was wary of playing McGyver in fear of breaking the pen. So, I brought it back the next day, and one of the sales women got it out for me.

Yelp
Oh Margaret! How I love the store you have dreamt and executed. Everything I could ever want in a stationary store, and more. If and when I get married, god forbid, I am coming to you and you will design my invitations so that they can be proudly displayed on Uptown ladies' refrigerators everywhere. Your store is thorough. Tought-out. From the calligraphy pens, gorgeous briefcases, Crane and Co inviitations, to the travel guides, and etiquette books. Now, if only you could be my older sister who always gives advice to achieve that extra ounce of polish.

Yelp
I recently worked with Scriptura to create our wedding invitations and we couldn't be more thrilled with this decision! The process was smooth and professional from the very start and we are beyond happy with the way our invitations turned out! Margaret helped me with the initial consultation to confirm every detail before going to layout creation. She even gave me advice on finding a professional calligrapher, timing for mailing, etc. For someone who is OCD about the little details, I found this aspect of working with Scriptura a complete A+! We selected an invitation from their letterpress collection, with only minor variations from the original design, and this seemed to keep things uncomplicated. Madie helped to perfect the wording, and even allowed us to put our own twist on the reply cards without any hesitation! The proof provided was a little blurry, but Madie happily provided a high-res image so we could comb through every word to make sure we were satisfied with everything. We just recieved our invitations last week, and they were so beautiful I almost cried! SIDE NOTE TO COUPLES CONSIDERING SCRIPTURA: Start on your invitations early! No one, including yourself, wants to be rushed in their work. This is when mistakes most commonly happen. Also, get at least three other eyes on your invitations to double check spelling, spacing, EVERYTHING! There is no need to blame the company for something you should have caught yourself, and then expect them to just eat of the cost. No, no no! These are YOUR invitations, and you should take the time to make sure they EXACTLY to your liking.

Yelp
Very much on the pricey side, but you're paying for high quality products that are well worth the money. I bought a "guest book" here for my shop. It was $50. I use it so my customers can write comments about my shop and give us their email address for our email list.

Yelp
This place was amazing to work with. I don't live in Louisiana, but my wedding is in New Orleans and they were more than happy to work with me via email and phone calls. It took a few times to get everything exactly right but they were so patient and helpful that I had my rehearsal dinner invitations done with them as well. They are now my go-to for invitations. I highly recommend them, you will not be disappointed.

Ronda W.

Yelp
They went above and beyond to help me! I am not a local but they treated me as one. Didn't have what I need but improvised and everything turned out perfectly.

Yelp
*tinkle* goes the bell as you walk in to this deliciously cool store, with brick floor, old rustic beam walls and spiral staircase in the middle of the store. i dragged my dear husband here on our NOLA trip after being clued in by the website DesignSponge. i drooled over Scriptura's original NOLA stationary and purchased a cute mint green pad of paper. would have loved to buy more.

Yelp
Me and my fiance visited Scritura for our wedding invitations. It was an awesome experience! I am not accustomed to traditions or edicate with these things. The owner was very specific with the details of everything, she was very professional walking us through this new experience. Doing the wedding invitations was the most enjoyable part of helping my fiance plan our wedding.

Yelp
Stationary Heaven! What girl doesn't love a good note pad with themes of NOLA throughout the pages?! I love local branding. NOLA pride for sure. Scriptura is my go-to place to find bridal gifts and well as decorations for my room. They have beautiful wrapping paper as well as a great selection of pens and note pads. I love their map wrapping papers! I use them as wall art. The one located next to Lakeside Mall is a little smaller, but just as cute. Scriptura prices does run a little high, but the quality of the materials here are fantastic! It's fun to browse around and see what new stationary they have! Scriptura is just adorable.

Yelp
Love, love, love this chic paperie boutique ~ for those who have a stationary/card fetish like I do, you will find high-end quality, well-designed paper goods for all your celebratory/notification needs. They carry Kate Spade invitation cards, moleskin notebooks, beautiful pens, and other knick knacks. This place is a design gem for New Orleans. If you enjoy spending a lazy Sunday poking your head around boutiques, you will find plenty to peruse here. I picked up some Alexa Pulitzer notepad and greeting cards a few years back and have always gotten compliments when I use'em.
google avatar

Yelp
I journeyed here because I love paper and because I wanted to see a bit more of New Orleans besides the Quarter. Scriptura is a quaint little shop divided into two sections. The front section has lots of fun stationary, pens, and other writing related items. The back section is if you are having invitations made, etc. I browsed both sections. The store is definitely high end, but their materials are lovely. The staff was very friendly. The woman I talked to was wonderful and helped me find just the right gift for an eclectic friend. Pricey, but worth it, not just in goods but in service as well.

Yelp
Scriptura is one of my favorite shops in any category, in any city, and on any dimensional plane. Even if I didn't know and love the sisters Sally & Margaret who have owned and operated this beautiful stationary/gift store for nearly 20 years, I would still consider this a 5 star establishment. If Scriptura only produced custom stationary, it would be a worthy destination (they made my business cards years ago and I constantly get compliments on them), but they offer so much more. Along with Italian leather attache cases and wallets, they also sell a variety of beautiful pens, both fountain and ball point. Naturally, any number of journals, diaries, etc can be found, from cute to hip to classically beautiful. Lush coffee table books and travel guides are sprinkled around the store, as well as a warmly edited collection of greeting cards. Finally, Scriptura is my one and only stop for gorgeous sheets of wrapping paper and luxurious ribbon. Not only can you find the perfect gift at Scriptura, you can wrap it with real style!

Keara F.

Yelp
I ordered my wedding invitations from Scriptura and couldn't be happier! I actually live in Chicago but fell in love with designs I had seen on the website. The prices are reasonable for customized invitations and they were not pushy at all. Lauren has been a dream to work with and I would recommend to anyone looking for beautiful stationary.
google avatar

Kate G.

Yelp
Bought the most beautiful journal today. I was swaying back and forth when I saw the price tag, but then I found out that these journals are not shipped from Italy, they are brought back in a box by the owner when she visits. I was sold. Now I just have to figure out what to write!

Ashley P.

Yelp
- Always A Happy Customer- Dear Margaret, You have done it again! I had my first experience with your store upon purchasing my wedding invitations. They were absolutely perfect- a little pricey but completely one of a kind and perfect. And, yet again, ordered my daughter's christening invites- same experience... wonderful. Until her first birthday rolled around and I tried to save a little by going to a competitor only to find that with paying a little more, not only do you receive the "Scriptura" experience but the process is stress-free and expedited. So, when her second birthday approached- I did not have to think twice about whom to go to. Thank you and see you next year!

Jeanie B.

Yelp
Margaret, one of the owners, is brilliant. If you have any questions about invitations or etiquette, ask her. She's an expert. Scriptura is are not cheap, but - as the saying goes - you get what you pay for. I needed hand-holding, and Margaret was right there. I was frantic; she was supportive and calm. This is also a great place to go for gifts. If you love pens - and I do - then go here.
google avatar

Bill B.

Yelp
On my first trip to New Orleans, the Totally Stupid Agency (TSA) decided to declare my fountain pen ink cartridges hazardous so, into the trash they went. Scriptura was the closest stationary store from where I was staying and became one of the first shops I visited. A bit over a year later, I returned and bought a lovely embossed journal and a couple of the humorous to-do lists. Returning to the same store after when visiting from Seattle is a good endorsement.
google avatar

MJ D.

Yelp
High-end stationery store. Nice (but pricey) collection of cards, journals, etc. Their specialty is custom printing on exquisite paper. I visit once a year and peruse their collection of fountain pens and imported ink. I always buy something, I just can't resist.
google avatar

Felicia M.

Yelp
Scriptura is a great place if you love pens and paper. I do love both and have been going to this store for many years. They carry great items, some of my favorites I have picked up here are Kate Spade, Russell and Hazel and Le Pen. I love their stationary.
google avatar

Courtie D.

Yelp
On the pricey side, but if you are shopping here you are expecting the price tag. Such a chic and upscale stationary shop. I always go here if I am looking to personalize my cards or thank you's on the next level.

Hannah L.

Yelp
No words can describe how pleased I am with our finished product. My fiancée and I made an appointment at Scriptura with very little idea of what we wanted for our wedding invitations (minus the heavy handed pintrest pinning I'd been doing). Margaret was phenomenal. Not only did she guide me through all of our options, but was concious of our budget. The turn around was lightening fast! Got a phone call the second they were ready. I felt very taken care of every step of the way whether it be paper weight or the proper wording for the invitations. She was extremely knowledgable and professional. I will never go anywhere else for announcements, invitations, etc. The finished product was even better than I had anticipated. If you are shopping around for the right place, this is it. Highly recommended.

Jeanne H.

Yelp
Recently purchased wedding invitations from scriptura. While the customer service was excellent initially - an easy mispelling was overlooked that could have been caught with spellcheck. On one hand, I did sign off on the proof prior to printing, but was mostly focusing on the names, date, addresses, etc... Upon completion, I notified the store about the error and they still made me pay for half of the reprints. I'm sorry we were "uable" to come to a better resolution. I had higher expectations for a store that was recommended by several locals.

Yelp
I ordered my wedding invitations through Scriptura. I worked with Wendy, and she was very patient with me. Apparently what I wanted was harder to find than what I was thinking (I found it on pintrest...go figure). Scriptura was probably the third (or fourth) place I went to for invitations, but the first place that was open to helping me find what I wanted. My end product was exactly what I wanted, and I loved it, but the process to get there was not a smooth one. I don't think all of this was Wendy's fault, I think it was more the company we were trying to use (she is only a middle-man with these printing companies). There was a lot of issues with the timing of things, confusion between retailer and vendor, and just general miscommunications. It got to the point where, because of timing, I had no choice but to stick with scriptura and go with an option that I would've been happy with from the beginning, but was never given to me.... I was aggravated with them to say the least, but they got the job done, and like I said, I was happy with the final product.

Mambru P.

Yelp
Scriptura is Not the place to go for wedding invitations. The whole process was a challenge. We would explain what we wanted in person, by phone, and by e-mail and the samples would never incorpotate what we discussed. We had already paid a sizable deposit and could not back out. It took weeks to finalize the proofs and we had to settle for something that is not nearly as special as we wanted. The biggest surprises were that that we ordered white invitations and when we picked them up they had made them in ivory stock and the envelopes were wrong. We had spent almost a month in this back and forth and we had neither the time nor energy to ask them to correct their mistakes and we are sending very expensive invitations that are not in any way distinguished or memorable and we wasted a lot of time and effort in this. We decided not to order anything else from Scriptura and had the inserts and menus made by someone else because we could not deal with them any more. Do not order your invitations from Scriptura, save yourselves a lot stress and perhaps a bit of money too. Dealing with them is a lot of work.

Ann M.

Yelp
Do NOT go there! The engraved business cards from Crane that I had custom designed at Scriptura were so unacceptable that I had to throw them away! And when I asked for my money back, they refused and said they could not conduct business with me anymore!

Imperial S.

Yelp
My mother and I planned the perfect day to spend time looking for wedding invitations (our first time!) and we thought Scriptura would be perfect! Not the case. We were greeted in a condescending way by the owner whom had no interest in making a big sale. She noted that we had not made an appointment ( is this a doctor's office?), but they could make room for us in the back at one of their tables, which was empty anyway. She made the whole situation uncomfortable and dismal, which was really upsetting as my mother and I were so excited to be going through the motions of wedding planning together. Enter wet blanket. When I mentioned I was interested in save-the-dates, she gave me one book to look through. When I asked to see another, she cringed, so we just said forget it and moved on to a wonderful dinner at Lilette--good review coming. :) I called the Metairie location to see who the owner was and was sad to find that it had in fact been the lady who helped us. Too bad when owners treat their customers like she did. Might be time to find another calling.

S G.

Yelp
Scriptura printed our Save the Dates for our wedding and we loved them! We worked with David and Katie and they were great about adding our personal touches to the cards. Highly recommended.
