This place is awesome. The gardens and sculptures are incredible and there is such a diverse range. I especially loved the animals. It's easy to tell how loved and looked after they are (something very important to me) and they are just gorgeous. Was extra lucky to get to meet the Tortoises while I was there. Highly recommend 😊

Google
This is an absolutely wonderful roughly two hour experience with a private garden and art museum. The eye for architecture and love put into curating this experience made for a wonderful visit and one we highly recommend. The wild flowers, palms, stones, and sculptures were favorites. Thank you to all who put so much work creating and sustaining the Sculptureum. Save time to eat at the highly acclaimed restaurant and make the most of your holiday!

This is something I have been looking forward to for a few months now! Finally got to see and the gardens, the galleries and the restaurant on our last day in Auckland, our last stop on a journey around NZ. It was everything I had hoped for and more. I appreciate the whimsical and quirky pieces as well as the more serious pieces. There are some great examples of natural pieces too (rocks sculpted by natural forces). Then there’s the restaurant. It fits so well in this setting. A varied and unique menu is offered. We went with the chef’s surprise and were not disappointed. Each dish was beautifully served and prepared perfectly. So glad we made the journey up from Auckland!

We had seen Sculptureum advertised and made it our mission as a birthday treat to visit from the south island. Having been to a handful of other sculpture parks and being very interested in sculpture, I would say we had certain expectations. The place is set out in two halves with a lovely shop and restaurant in the middle. We were recommended to visit the front outdoor area first. A beautifully laid out garden that twists and turns with different areas within it to reveal art. However it would be fair to say we were extremely disappointed by what was in there, very generic items and an awful lot of boards with art quotes on. More of a quotetorium!)keep reading!) Having come through there we came out a little flat, and not so hopeful about the indoor gallery, but we were wrong. This included a large and eclectic array of mostly but not exclusively 3d objects. Fascinating and interesting, and we would highly recommend it. If you are expecting to see the usual names, don’t go, but if you are open to something else, I’m sure there is something for everyone there. I would liken it to the victorians who would go on the grand tour and buy art they liked. That seems to be what has happened here and it is quite refreshing and a little bit different. Go see for yourself.

Amazing place, beautiful gardens and sculptures. Definitely give yourself a an hour or two to take everything in. The indoor gallery was sensory overload, but in a good way 😅 just so much to take in all at once.

This is a unique family outing. The kids enjoyed the quirky art and open spaces, while the gardens provided an interesting backdrop. Some pieces were genuinely thought-provoking. Worth a visit if you're in the vicinity and looking for something different. Do check online for potential ticket discounts beforehand. Overall, a pleasant experience, but not a destination I'd go significantly out of my way for.

Highly recommend the Sculptureum. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We spent a couple of hours there and finished off with a very nice wine.

Sculptureum Matakana is hands down one of the most captivating art destinations I’ve experienced in New Zealand! This enchanting blend of sculpture gardens, galleries, and lush landscapes offers a feast for the senses, leaving visitors in awe at every turn. The sprawling grounds feature over 300 artworks seamlessly integrated into vibrant tropical gardens. From bold contemporary pieces to whimsical classical sculptures, the diversity is astounding. The mirror and reflection based installations were a standout playing with light and perspective in the most mesmerizing way. One of my favorite spots was the vineyard-facing sculpture area, where gleaming metallic artworks cast dreamy reflections against the greenery. The indoor galleries are equally impressive, showcasing vivid avian sculptures, surreal paintings, and thought-provoking modern art. The staff were incredibly welcoming, offering insights into the stories behind key pieces (like the giant pink snail an unexpected highlight!). Practical tips: ✔ Allow 2–3 hours to fully explore—every corner holds a new surprise. ✔ The onsite café is perfect for a coffee break amid the art. ✔ Photography lovers will adore the interactive installations. The only "downside"? I didn’t want to leave! The ticket price is reasonable for the quality and scale of the exhibits, and the gift shop offers unique artistic souvenirs. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply seeking inspiration, Sculptureum delivers magic. Already planning my return!

Yelp
We were driving to Tawharanui Regional Park and noticed the sculptures peeking out from inside a garden and decided we must stop in. We are so glad that we did. We found a lovely art gallery that even includes pieces from Chihuly that led to a couple of beautiful gardens adjacent to the gallery. Beyond this there is yet another larger sculpture garden with meandering paths that sometimes led to aviaries as well as other small animal areas (such as rabbits). They will be having a couple of "native" pigs join the property soon as they just arrived today. We met the owners, Anthony and Sandra Grant as she arrived on property with their new pets. Between our visit to the gallery and the larger sculpture garden, we stopped by for a wine tasting and met Tina who was generous and informative sharing about the wines grown on their estate. The Gallery Syrah and Bordeaux Blend were our favorites. Much appreciation is extended to Tina for her kindness and hospitality! After the sculpture garden, we ventured over to their restaurant, Rothko. Unfortunately for us, the restaurant was fully booked with reservations. Fortunately for us, they had seating at the picnic tables outside and they served wine and small bites. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Fabulous collection if (mostly) modern art sculptures set in beautifully manicured gardens and chic indoor galleries. One hour from auckland cbd... we were tourists, renting a city hop car (very reasonable and convenient)... 1 hour to get there and 3 hours in the setting, well worth the time and expense!
