Yes, I recommend, with only one caveat (see below). Truly excellent hotel. Great location, well-maintained, good breakfast, multi-lingual staff who deliver excellent service. Rooms clean and well appointed, with safes, amenities and electric plug adaptors. Excellent rooftop bar with a bartender that knows his stuff. This is where to get your Poncha. One caveat: one or two rooms have no outside window, just a window onto an interior corridor. If you are ok with that, great. But we asked to be moved to a room with an outside window that opened. They did this, no charge, and even moved all our bags for us. Thank you. I recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sé Boutique Hotel. The location is excellent—very convenient for exploring the city. The parking spot provided by the hotel was about a five-minute walk away, which worked perfectly for us and made it easy to keep the car nearby for our daily trips out of town. Breakfast was great, with plenty of choices to start the day. The room itself was on the smaller side for two people sharing, but that’s to be expected in a historic downtown building. The bar was a highlight—great atmosphere and a beautiful rooftop view. One downside was the shower/toilet area in our room. It was entirely glass, which didn’t offer much privacy for two people sharing, and the doors couldn’t be fully closed while showering because they would jam. Overall, a very good stay thanks to the location, breakfast, and bar, with just a few design quirks to be aware of.

Great location and nice staff. The standard and superior rooms have internal windows. The first superior room on checking in - the window opened onto a corridor, so everyone walking down corridor would have been looking straight in. Immediately asked for change of room, and after having to get travel agency involved, was offered two other options, both of which had view onto internal ventilation courtyard, with a window that could be left open. Not sure why these were not allocated first. There was a constant range of odours (cooking to staleness) from the ensuite shower room drains, though being in central Funchal, to be expected in an old property. The roof bar was lovely, with great views, mainly - one way is looking over neighbouring roof with associated ventilation, water storage and solar panels. If you want a hotel where you can relax by the pool after a days walking, this is not it. Pool is in basement, and 'bookable' and no sunbeds on roof - it's a pleasant bar. There are a couple of sofas you can sprawl on. Overall, great location, comfortable bed, good restaurants nearby. Would I stay again? No.

Great hotel location in centre of Funchal, lots of good restaurants, shopping, easy access to local buses to explore further afield. |Superior rooms only have windows overlooking central ventilation courtyard. Some only open onto corridor, so anyone walking down corridor would be staring into room.|Staff moved me to different room after intervention ofvtravel company as well, when I said window that couldn't be left open, and curtains that couldn't be open at all, was not acceptable. |Good roof top bar, though steps up to top level are quite steep.|Pool is in basement, so if you want to lounge in the sun by the pool after your day out, or for a couple of lazy days, this is not the hotel for you.|Staff are lovely, bed comfortable, shower OK, WiFi OK most of time. Breakfast good selection.|Would I stay here again (visit annually, first time this hotel), sadly no.

Good hotel, great location, excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was very good, but ciould use a second espresso machine (or a faster one). Room was odd - we booked a "junior suite," but is was really just a nice-sized hotel room. Toilet was in a little room surrounded by glass walls (with curtain on one side). Shower also had glass walls. Looked like it had been designed by someone who never used a toilet or shower. Restaurant next to hotel was very good.

Honestly one of my favourite hotels I've ever stayed in. It's in an ideal location near to loads of lovely restaurants. It isn't up a steep hill which I was worried about. It's a very slight gentle slope. The hotel is fairly small, quirky and eccentric in the best possible way. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff are all lovely, friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the green room was consistently very good and the rooftop bar is a lovely place to sit and admire the views all around. Can't wait to stay there again.

Beautiful place and excellent Location. Staff are very friendly. Rooftop bar is amazing. Breakfast had lots of options. They offered me additional drinks vouchers for my birthday along with Candies and a birthday card. Also packed us a nice breakfast to go for our early flight. Staff helped us with every queries re sight seeing and eating out.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone and although our room was great and deserves 5 stars (Deluxe), an upgrade with a window on the outside wall of the building , we understand that standard rooms have windows looking out into a vertical tunnel....didn't see them just heard of them. The location was excellent, the reception staff were very efficient and friendly, we had a problem with the shower which was resolved in a speedy manner and great to use thereafter. The rooftop terrace garden and bar were excellent and the views from up there were really good, the bar does however close at 22.00.
