Holy. Cow. I'm unsure how I never tried this place before but I'm glad I finally did! This was easily one of the best breakfasts I've had in Seward. Service was fast and friendly and the menu has something for everyone. I had an egg and bacon panini, and my spouse got a vegetarian bagel. My panini was incredibly tasty, and the roasted red potatoes that came with were delicious. I also had a raspberry latte that was perfect for the cold rainy morning. Everything was so tasty that I tried to go back the next day but they had closed early.

If you just want drinks - this is the place to go! Peppermint hot chocolate and the hot mocha were delicious and the barista was so nice and brought our drinks right to our table. The server who took our order was flat and we said we were eating in and was served on paper plates while others were served on dishes. My mariner’s “bowl” came on a plate. The guac tasted only like onions and nothing else had flavor. The potatoes were decent but need to be crispier. The sandwich was also bland and the avocado just tasted like onions. I would only come back for the beverages. The food was awful.

Seward’s Sea Bean is a cute little breakfast/lunch/ brunch place with fun lattes and tasty food! I got a healthy smoothie bowl with fruit and also the oatmeal. I was delighted by how good the food was and the flavors as well! I will let you in on a secret I learned- they sell their “day old” pastries- which were fresh and tasted normal to me- at $2/ pastries. It was the best hiking snack ever! They are wrapped up and the Nutella croissant was huge and filled to the brim! It was the best thing ever!!! Anyway, highly recommend!!! 10/10 would go back!

Google
It's a cute brunch place right in heart of seward downtown. The prices are bit on high side but that's understandable considering that tourist season is just a couple of months in this part of USA. Deducting a star because of prices. They have a lot of options for vegetarian people - smoothies, bagels, sandwiches, avacado toast, quiche and burrito. Latte was really good and well made. It was a self service place. After ordering they deliver some items at your table and call you for some others. Service was pretty quick. It was a busy place. The toilet was clean and did not need any key.

Google
We got here a little before 8am on the 4th of July and the rush happened around 8:15am, I'm talking like a like out the door, FYI! They have gluten free bread and pastries! The sandwich was huge. No complaints.

Google
Excellent coffee and tasty breakfast options (they serve lunch as well) abound at this welcoming Seward coffee house. Locals and tourists come to enjoy the delicious offerings. Try the baked oatmeal along with any of their specialty hot and cold drinks!

Google
I can’t say this was a great dining experience - the chowder is amazing, but everything else was not. I couldn’t believe what they provided for the Nutella sandwich, at best a low quality home made packed lunch that you trade with your friend for a hostess. The Buddha bowl was confusing and not fully prepared.

Google
If you're looking for a hot tea, pastry, traditional coffee, or something outrageously unique (Maple Bacon Latte) then you need to visit Sea Bean Cafe. I prefer drip coffee over a latte any day, however Sea Bean Cafe was serving a Maple Bacon Latte the day I visited. How could I pass this opportunity? Real pieces of bacon are in the latte, so I was literally drinking and eating breakfast at the same time. A Canadian Heaven.

Yelp
Worst food I've had in a long time/it shouldn't be legal to sell food this bad. I also think a visit from the health inspector ought to be in order given the state of the garbage can that had trash ready to spill out onto the floor as it was near to the kitchen. The bathroom was also super grody. Take this review to heart and go somewhere else/the panini I had makes an egg McMuffin taste like haute cuisine. The open faced lox sandwich was OK, but do you see the amount of schmere I got in the picture I uploaded for this place? Disrespectful. I even felt a bit ill after eating here, just saying. There's other options for breakfast for your time in Seward...I recommend checking them out. And for anyone curious why I ate here despite cautionary reviews existing already, I thought the name and logo were really cute and went in here on a whim. Don't do it familia

Roxanne R.

Yelp
The coffee fall selections were great - we got the pumpkin pie latte and gingerbread latter, bother very tasty and quickly made. The coffee shop was decorated with cool seaside decor. The cinnamon bun was SO GOOD. 10/10 would come back and recommend to others

Yelp
A really unique. Nd enjoyable breakfast place in downtown Seward. I got the excellent Mainstay Guac Sandwich (guacamole/bacon/egg/pepper jack cheese on ciabatta panini). Wonderful crunchy exterior and soft interior and tons of flavor. It comes with their breakfast potatoes, which are delicious soft red new potatoes in butter. A simple approach in some ways, but so much tastier than those boring fried breakfast potatoes that everyone else serves. They do get backed up with the coffee drinks when they get a rush - my coffee drink came 10 minutes after I finished my sandwich.

Yelp
We are on vacation in Seward and we're hungry and looking for a snack/coffee. I looked on Yelp for a coffee spot and this establishment popped up. We ordered 2 - 12 oz mochas. We ordered our coffee from a disinterested clerk. While waiting we saw some tomato/mozzarella snacks and order one. While the mochas were delicious, the tomato/mozzarella snack left us flat. The barista was friendly and pleasant however. We asked if the business had been here long, the barista joked it was a brothel, but the plaque said it was a commercial buildij All in all an ok place to stop, but nothing special.

Amber K.

Yelp
Cute little place we stopped at for breakfast. Not a huge menu but a number of options and a GF bread option as well. The sandwiches are bread heavy- while not Wildly widely sliced, they are thick and very dry. They need a sauce or schmear or something to help get it down. The eggs were way over done and brown. That said the flavor of the bread was good and it's the start of a great sandwich. The potatoes were cooked well but VERY greasy, but tasty lol. It's a cute place and has a decent amount of seating, and a large coffee selection as well.

Jae C.

Yelp
I was looking for a nice coffee place with some breakfast and found my spot!! I went with a toddler and he ate so well with a tall steamer milk. We all left so happy at the end. All the coffee we ordered was delicious. Foods were surprisingly yummy and good variety of menu items were available. We liked that they had lots of seating areas. It was pretty much self service with self water/utensil area and a tub for dirty dishes but easy to use. We enjoyed a nice beam of sunshine while enjoying breakfast and coffee before going to the sea life center. Will come back again to try more!

Vanessa R.

Yelp
This place was a staple in our stay. It was a bit inconsistent but staff were always pleasant, food was good, and coffee was good. The LSD smoothie gave me life after a night out in Seward with the locals. We liked their bagels better than other places in Seward.

Cynthia C.

Yelp
We were in Seward during the end of shoulder season a couple weeks ago, many restaurants weren't even open yet, luckily we got to Sea Bean right when lunch was closing up. Perfect fresh, light and healthy meal after a long train journey. Try the Buddha Bowl and Hearty Arti. Perfectly seasoned, good ingredients and nice textures. Free Wi-Fi, clean restroom, complimentary water, nice ambiance and good vibes all around. Food menu is on paper in a small plastic holder.

Viona C.

Yelp
This was my first meal upon arriving in Alaska and I left so unsatisfied and disappointed. It was only then that I realized that I probs should be expecting this much in terms of the food scene in Seward. I ordered the lox plate to split with a friend, which is essentially a deconstructed bagel. We paid $18 for 2 thin slices of lox, a sad looking bagel and Philadelphia cream cheese in a container. It came with capers, cucumbers, sliced red onions and tomatoes. I tried moving around the tomatoes to masquerade how little lox we were given. Also ordered an ice coffee and that was just very mediocre. My friends ordered smoothies and smoothie bowls and those were probs a little more worth it, but you really can't go wrong with those.

Joy L.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick breakfast on the way out of town. I ordered the ham and tomato quiche and my partner ordered the Sea Anchor burrito. Both were really well prepared and came out quickly. The burrito came with some AMAZING potatoes that I wish I had :( Also ordered a latte and sludge, both were as expected. We ordered two baked goods for the road- a cinnamon cruffin for my honey and a orange scone for me. Again both were tasty and as expected. Atmosphere was pleasant, but nothing spectacular. Prices were a little on the high end, I suppose that's to be expected in Seward. I'll check this place out again for consistency to determine if they deserve 5 stars or not.

Sanjali P.

Yelp
The food here is not very fast but has an extensive menu. However, I was sadly disappointed by the lack of flavor in my ham avocado sandwich h. The

Yelp
Nice vibes and place to hang out, but average food. Pros: - Their breakfast potatoes are very unique. They are soft (likely baked with no crusting at all) and tossed with a flavorful rub that contains shredded herbs (not sure what they are, maybe rosemary). I like them but wish they had the savory brown crust. - Good selection of drinks. - Panini sandwiches are solid. - Fast completion of orders. Cons: - The bowl was underwhelming, scrambled eggs are nothing to write about.

Aman G.

Yelp
Great brunch and lunch options and very accommodating to gluten free and vegetarian/vegan diets. Their espresso drinks are well made and their gluten free walnut brownie is the best GF brownie I've ever had. This is a great place if you're looking for healthy, nutritious and delicious meals while you travel.

Morgan R.

Yelp
An intimate little coffee house with lunch items and home-made baked goods. We particularly liked the smoked salmon chowder, which was both tasty and full of fish. The buddha bowl, the ham & Swiss twist, and the mayflower panini sandwich were all fine but not special. The chocolate cup-cakes were tasty, but the white frosting on top was excessively sweet. But what I really liked about the Sea-Bean was the atmosphere - homey and peaceful, a good place to sit and read, or work on your computer, or have a conversation. The staff was friendly, the physical set-up nice (tables and chairs for lunch, sofas and armchairs for hanging out).

Danica D.

Yelp
Cute little shop in Seward with good coffee and a collection of old National Geographics. We had a couple of breakfast burritos, a slice of salmon pie, a pepperoni croissant, and a smoothie bowl to share. It was all delicious. We plan to eat here again before our trip is over.

jerry k.

Yelp
Not bad food but a little expensive for the amount they give you. Service lacked friendliness and hospitality, just felt rushed. For example, they forgot my fathers order which was just a bagel with jelly. He went up to the counter and told them and they told him to just wait patiently. Meanwhile they served 2 families before he got his simple plain bagel with jelly. Tried it once, will not go again.

Silver U.

Yelp
line out the door. Got couple hot cocoas, a smoothie and two breakfast sandwiches to go. Drinks great, food okay. Maybe better to try when it's not peak coffee time in Seward. Cute place, worth giving it another try

Katie G.

Yelp
Review as a vegan: please note there are very few vegan options here for food. We came at 10:30 AM and I was hoping to get something filling before a tour. The only options I had were the Buddha Bowl (which they told me they can't serve that early), an açaí bowl completely plain with no toppings (on a very cold day), or a chocolate chip cookie. I got the cookie, lol, it was pretty good. I couldn't find a menu online but saw previous reviews that they are vegan friendly-just know before you go!

Preeti R.

Yelp
We arrived post hike at Exit Glacier to get the Buddha bowl but it was sold out (understandable since it was race day in Seward), so got the veggie panini to go instead which was tasty and filling. Panini came with a side of chips. Was surprised when the lady at the counter mentioned that it would take 45 mins for a panini so took a stroll in downtown Seward to kill time, luckily for us it was Mount marathon Race day, so was a lot of fun watching runners run up the mountain and helicopters capturing race moments. Food was ready at said time.

Susan P.

Yelp
Had a delightful breakfast today at Sea Bean. I read mixed reviews but the menu looked great, so decided to try it. It's a great place. Note that Seward is a tourist town, so a place like this is going to be really busy in season. So you need to know you will wait a bit for freshly made food. Don't plan on a fast bite. Our breakfasts were delicious and fresh. I recommend the smoked salmon bagel. The Mariners Bowl was also excellent. Coffee - great. I've seen some comments on the potatoes. They are oven roasted and delicious. The space is comfortable with a coffee-house vibe. Thanks to the Sea Bean for a really nice breakfast.

Regan J.

Yelp
Pretty mediocre spot. My friend had a good dirty chai there. Sandwiches seem expensive even for the area and the content of the food. Good seating. I'd choose other places over this spot.

Diana D.

Yelp
This was an ok-ish cafe. The service is sloppy which can be expected at a place like this even though they weren't short staffed. Had to call them to clean the table since most of them were busy checking their phones behind the counter. A while later, I noticed a staff entering the restroom and then exiting it leaving the door open. I felt terrible for the people sitting right outside the door and dining. We came here around lunchtime to grab a quick bite which was a big mistake. Food was awful, sea bean bowl had no flavor whatsoever, the lox plate was alright, although it was more like a deconstructed bagel sandwich. Don't come here for the food, it's not worth your money. Coffee and other drinks are not bad. For the price and service that they provide this place is not worth stopping by.

Marcella F.

Yelp
Love this place! Second time to Seward this year and not much else was open for breakfast. Nice menu, but service was great. Very accommodating to a few of my kids weird requests (like a small bowl of melted butter for his bagel-weird kid) . Bagels are chewy and good and the lox are excellent. Thank you Sea Bean, well be back!

Sylvia K.

Yelp
Really cute and spacious cafe in downtown Seward! Came here for breakfast before a boat tour. They have lots of coffee options and loose leaf teas, plus a decent breakfast menu and pastries. I ordered an earl grey tea and the breakfast wrap with ham (you can also get it with bacon instead). The Sea Bean was pretty busy with lots of customers constantly streaming in. It took a long time to get my order. My tea took a long time. It's tea, which really doesn't need much prep other then putting the loose leaves in the tea bag and providing some hot water. And the barista called my earl grey at first but had made a mistake and it was someone else's English breakfast tea. I didn't get my tea until 10 minutes after I ordered. Since I ordered it for here, I got it in a mug and with a teapot with more hot water. My food took forever to get. I got my wrap 30 minutes after I ordered. And I saw people who ordered after me get their food before me. I had to ask one of the servers to check on my food and she came back to tell me it was on the grill now, which means they either forgot my order or gave mine to someone else (even though they give you a numcrr after you order at the counter). Otherwise why want my order on the grill 25 minutes ago? By the time I finally got my food, I didn't have much time left because I had to check in for my boat tour. I wolfed down my wrap, which was nothing special. The potatoes were not bad, but were a little bland. I asked for a to go cup so I could take my tea to go. I really wanted to like this place - it's got a cute theme and the staff is pretty nice. But it takes too long. My recommendation if you want to eat here is come early or don't come on a morning that you have plans to be somewhere at a specific time.

Karri S.

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop with excellent lattes. The woman at the front desk was friendly (despite what other reviews have said) and was very helpful. Very limited selection of baked goods this time of year but worth a coffee stop. Muffin and scone were ok. The muffin was sweet and more cake-like, which isn't bad, but not how I like them. Go get a great latte served with a smile and enjoy the gorgeous Seward views.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Glad to have found this open at the beginning of the cruise season. Great food and nice service. They were hammered by an influx of visitors but they were polite and efficient given the circumstances. If we are in the area again, then won't hesitate to go there again.

Amanda K.

Yelp
They have GLUTEN FREE FOOD. Literally could not find food anywhere so very thankful we found this place when we did. However, complete mystery when they would be open, when the kitchen would be working and what they might be making day-to-day. We got their GF banana bread one day which was excellent but they never had it again after that day (and there really weren't many other GF options). We'd come by and they'd be open but not cooking or closed for weird hours of the day. I'm not sure what the solution is during these weird, covid, low-staff times but if there was a way to update hours online (via twitter or something), that would be helpful.

Katherine S.

Yelp
Not good & wouldn't recommend. My chicken was dry, tortilla chips & cheese were premade from grocery store, and it was missing the cilantro and lime. The flavors just did not mesh well together. They also forgot my dads order and offered no apology. It took so long everyone was finished eating and we had to get it to go. Also all of their napkin dispensers were empty/not super clean.

Jon S.

Yelp
The restaurant opened at 12:00, we put in an online order at 11:50, and went in there at 12:10. Turns out the Internet was not connected and the staff seemed unconcerned about it. I got my order from my wife resent and showed it to the lady at the counter. A line of people came out of nowhere. Soon after placing my order, my wife's iced coffee was brought out. Soon after that, no more orders taken because they ran out of food. I went up at 12:30 and was just casually told my food is now being prepared. Nothing was ready until about 12:45. My wife had called up the young lady and chewed her out and she still had little concern. By the time my wife got her food, all the ice melted in her coffee. As for the food itself? Dry and almost tasteless. The "panini" sandwiches were just pressed bread. I had Turkey, provolone, bacon, and pesto sauce that was unremarkable. As a final note, no apologies for the slow service, mediocre food, or offers for free extras. $75 thrown down the drain for food I could have made at home for less than $10. Bottom line, skip this place

Maggie H.

Yelp
We stopped in here for a quick breakfast and some coffee. Service was cold and our order came out wrong My husband got a scramble with no bacon and his scramble came out topped with bacon...we discreetly picked them off and wasted it. His meal for what he paid was laughable. The menu described the meal as being larger and he was lucky if there were two eggs in his meal. There was barely a tablespoon of cheese and veggies included. Coffee was fine and my smoothie bowl was OK. The first one I've ever had so I have nothing to compare it to. I bought a sticker from here because their logo is really cute. It was a little dingy and I can't clean it. Oh well. An OK place to visit but if we ever go to Seward again we'll go elsewhere.

Gaby H.

Yelp
The perfect spot for breakfast or lunch. Lots of vegan options, which was perfect for me! Great panini.

Michayla R.

Yelp
Loved the black cherry flavored specialty drink. My husband loved the white and dark chocolate. Best coffee in Seward

Trevor H.

Yelp
If you want long waits for half of your food and subpar coffee then here's the place for you. Tables don't get cleaned unless you ask because you don't want to eat in a couch. The food that gets served is have cold. Cold potato's aren't the way to go. And who takes 45 to prepare a lox? Not even put together or anything. Just slapped on a plate and slid our way.

Alissa O.

Yelp
Gluten-free and vegan hotspot! The Buddha bowl is amaze-balls. Peanut butter with lemon sounded like a sauce nightmare to me, but it was absolutely delectable. I loved how they made the rice crunchy too. My husband tried the veggie Panini and was happy with his choice. This can be made on gluten-free bread, just like anything else at the restaurant if you request it. Plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free baked goods at the counter. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

Spencer H.

Yelp
Outstanding health-conscious bakery / cafe in Seward. After having been in Alaska for 5+ days I was shocked to find this kind of restaurant in sleepy Seward. Good thing for its patrons, though. The food is clean, basic and very tasty; the home baked goods are out of this world; and the service was above average. The Buddha Bowl and Sea Bean bowl are excellent; the peanut butter cookies are to die for. Would 100% come back

Thania H.

Yelp
Good coffee and and parfait. The bathroom no toilet paper. We asked for toilet paper and they never replenish it. Absolutely crazy. They did listen to customers. Crazy way to run a coffee place. Take customer and customer will take care of you! Thania

Tanya R.

Yelp
I only gave it a two because the banana nutella croissant was yummy. Don't visit between 10-11:30. The transition between breakfast and lunch is hardly seamless. They were not prepared for as many customers as they received. They set their barista up for failure by making her take everyones order and make all the coffee. I waited over 20 minutes for her to finish taking orders and switch to making coffee again. I also witnessed another female staff member in the back being cruel to the barista over a to go order. To the barista, know your worth and find a new job!

Leah F.

Yelp
I think my panini would have been good, had it been made with a little more care. It's a Sunday, y'all we're busy and I took it to go. However the bacon on my mayflower panini was severely undercooked, it was like eating hot raw bacon. And all the grease from it made the bread soggy and it was just straight up bad. I would have rather waited 10 more minutes for a decent sandwich than ate what I got. I couldn't even finish it. Please take the time to properly make the food regardless of how busy it is, us local customers will greatly appreciate it.

Alex M.

Yelp
Food was served a bit different this time. Wasn't quite as impeccable as last time but still good

Emma G.

Yelp
So so cozy! I could have spent so much time here just sipping coffee and reading a book or something. Pastries were out of this world, along with the coffee.

Matthew F.

Yelp
Seriously good coffee. This became our morning go-to place while we were in Seward. The baked goods are pretty awesome too.

Paul R.

Yelp
Decent cup of coffee. Great location in Downtown Seward. They have a lot of gluten free options as well for folks who are gluten intolerant.

Jim C.

Yelp
I had a breakfast panini here and it was the driest piece of bread I have ever had. It looked great, but by the gods, it was eating the Sahara desert.

Jess B.

Yelp
Wonderful brunch both days we went! I had the gluten free panini both times. The Mayflower and the pesto were so good! My daughter had the regular Mayflower and loved it! The gluten free bread was probably the best I have had. It had a perfect texture and wasn't too dense! So so so good! And the lattes are great as well! They have vegan options as well.

Vegan Chick O.

Yelp
Vegan at Seward! Beyond Burger with fries! :D Best vegan food ever! Got the beyond burger with vegan chipotle mayo, pickles, onions, lettuce, ketchup! It was seriously good with amazing French fries if you are vegan that needs a hardy meal for dinner this is the place for you! :D got this for $36.00 including the 7% tax! :D

andrew g.

Yelp
Who puts white rice in a breakfast burrito? Potato's were boiled and barely fried, had zero flavor. I won't be back.

Elsa J.

Yelp
A cute, little New England cafe in the heart of Seward. The Alaska version of Friends would take place here. Big windows to people watch, but a little cramped. After my hike from the glacier, I stopped by and got the Mayflower sandwich. The Mayflower has bacon and cranberry jam on brioche. The sandwich was fantastic, and I really enjoyed how each part married well. I wish they gave me french fries, instead of chips, to really make it a fulfilling meal. The food is expensive, but that's just standard Alaska tourist town prices. I really enjoyed how subtly creative the flavors are in each dish presented. The food and flavors here match the vibe that Seward has, if that makes any sense.

Jess D.

Yelp
Casual little cafe with WiFi a few blocks from the water, yes please! Sea Bean was our first stop in Seward and it was really nice. I had the salad and my friend had a turkey wrap. Both were super fresh and tasty! The portions were a nice size as well (which is good because the prices were a bit high!). The staff were friendly and accommodating as well. The WiFi was a nice bonus. I can't speak for the coffee but imagine it was pretty solid (they also have Bulletproof products for those of you who are a fan like me!). Great little gem in Seward. Check it out while in town!

AL B.

Yelp
Tasty, healthy food options! Came for breakfast and even though they were busy they were able to make a small modification to our choice-- leaving the bread off which was of great help! Free Wifi- Clean Bathroom- Street parking and lots of smiling service. You order at counter, find a place to sit they bring the food to you! Salmon was excellent- and the baked goods looked fresh as well as those smoothies-- yum!
