Worst service experience in a hostel!
The staff that checked me in, didn’t greet at all, tried to overcharge me and didn’t apologise for which was obviously his fault. I felt unwelcome but hence the great location, I extended one more night.
So I went to reception the next morning to check if I can leave my stuff in the room without having to check out and in again. The staff agreed and booked me in the same room. Because it was not check in time yet I didn’t pay in the morning.
When I came back in the afternoon to pay for the night, the lady at reception told me the housekeeper took all my stuff from the bed and put it in plastic bags because I hadn’t paid for the room yet.
I couldn’t believe what she told me and responded that I purposely went to reception in the morning to avoid that exact case. So there was obviously a misunderstanding between her and her staff but she blamed me. During the paying process they tried to overcharge again, didn’t show me the screen and when I pointed it out - didn’t apologise.
If that wasn’t enough, when I got the plastic bags and took out my stuff, my charger plug was missing.
As I am a genuine optimistic person with many years of hostel experience I left that place wondering how there is so much potential but yet so much room for customer service.
I’d highly recommend, book another place, do a nice morning walk to the beach instead and keep your dignity up, as it almost felt condescending how I got treated. And the guy in my room shared a similar experience.
