unfortunately I didn't have a good experience today. We were out for a full day trip which involved a 4 hours drive to and from the fishing spot which left us about 4 hours to actually fish. The captain didn't seem to know exactly where the spots where and kept adjusting the location forever before giving the OK to start fishing. We ended up fishing maybe an hour and half in total out of 4... The captain didn't stay more than 15 minutes in one spot, he would move to another location spending more time driving and adjusting in between. On the last fishing spot the captain spent 40 minutes finding, adjusting, dropping the anchor, raising the anchor and so on and so forth untill giving up and heading back....
In addition, there where too many people on the boat, more than 30 to be exact. We where elbow to elbow and constantly snagging on each others line. A few folks got lucky and catch a couple of nice amberfish, but most ended up with some redeye and others were not lucky at all and didn't catch any. There must have been about 30 fish caught in total which in relation to the amount of people on board is very disappointing.
And to top it all, on the way back, we where chased away from the lower deck because the mates wanted to scrub it. We had to either go to they scorching upper deck, or the stuffy cabin so the mates can clean the boat while we were on it...
Lastly, when we finally docked, myself and a few others went to the office to complain only to laurn that the owner was actually captainning the boat. The guy at the office told us to go back to the boat and talk to the captain. I did not, I'm not sure if others did but in any case, I will most likely not be back although I plan many more trips down to St Augustine.
EDIT: I got a call this morning from one of the owners, Darryl (sp?) , who said he wanted to make his customers happy and promised me to take care of my next trip.
