Small but clean park. There is easy beach access where we spent time fishing. You don't need a fishing license when fishing from any state park in Texas. The boardwalk trail was very cool and the kids loved it. At one end, they have view finders to look out over the marsh. We saw lots of animals!!! The beach was relatively clean and we were able to picnic from the back of our vehicle.

My expectations were nice very high for this park but I was pleasantly surprised. Coming from Galveston, I assumed it would be the same. It was not. The boardwalks were very cool and should be done! They have camp sights and beach access areas. There are plenty of facilities including showers. Something to note: the mosquitos are no joke. In December they are still prevalent.

Google
This is a beautiful beach with a cool boardwalk trail through the marsh. Mosquitos are a nuisance even in winter since it's in/next to a marsh. The beach is very pretty and the whole area is great for bird watching.

Google
Great birding, camping. The facilities are more ideal for day-use, but my camping experience was very nice despite some bad weather and a power outage. This is not a large park, but a less crowded beach and ocean marsh area. Also a kayak water trail. Many people come here to fish and crab. Piping, snowy, black-bellied plover as well as killdeer. Northern harrier, American avocets, many shorebirds..Willett, sandpiper, dunlin, dowitcher. More!

Google
Beautiful stretch of seaside. Great shell collecting. Very nice boardwalk through the salt marshes. Out of the way, small park.

Google
Such a beautiful place... smooth sandy beaches, ⛱️ GREAT fishing, and only $4 per adult for day use.. they also have camping, and fishing peers wonderful affordable fun for you and your family

Google
Sea Rim is such a quiet and peaceful park (visited in January). Birds, seashells, miles of walking along the beach, open sky, lovely breeze, and great fishing. The rainbow was the cherry on top!

Google
This place is very unique however absolutely do not get out of your vehicle until you are covered in bug spray. The mosquitoes are Relentless and there is no getting away from them unless you are a good ways down the beach closer to the ocean. I can't stress this enough, make sure you have bug spray although they do sell it for $12 a bottle at the campground check in. The boardwalk out over the marshy area is pretty awesome. This place is pretty desolate mid December right now. Only a handful of campers here.

Yelp
Amazing quiet beach. A great place to sit and chill. I love that you can take your car on the beach.

Yelp
The weather was absolutely beautiful and the beach was packed. Sea Rim is a very nice beach. Had a nice breeze the whole time we were there, didn't even sweat. Lots of people out fishing, didn't see anyone catch anything but hopefully next time. The beach was awesome. We went to the marsh but there was no water in the marsh for lack of rain I suppose. Everything's just dried up . Don't let that discourage you from visiting this beautiful place. They also have RV parking and very clean bathrooms. We walked on the beach for a couple of hours. The water was nice. We even found out you can Kayak out there too. So if you're ever in the area check out Sea Rim Park at Sabine Pass. You will have a great time.

Yelp
Great place to have plenty of room on the beach. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that there is a lot of spots for camping. So, make sure that you book early! The check in was obnoxiously slow. You know, like they have 100 things more important that checking in the only customer who's waiting at the desk. I had to wait for them to finish their chit chat and then their filing of something totally unrelated. Like they have all the time in the world for me. They must spend all their time in the check in area and not wandering around the camp ground. WAY too many loose dogs for my comfort or joy. I get the canine pets, but if you are going to have one with the manners to try to join my meal - they should be on a leash. It was like a neighborhood gathering of various dogs. Enjoyed the waterfront and the beach. Yet, not one of my favorite Texas State Parks.

Yelp
My husband, dog and I have enjoyed day trips to Sea Rim State Park several times in 2020. When state parks began to reopen earlier this year, they required day passes are purchased online before arriving at the park. I'm not sure that is still required but scheduling a day pass online is very easy. I like to go to the park on weekdays from early morning thru lunch time and I always had ample room to socially distance my family from other guests. There are grills and picnic tables in the day use area if you are interested in cooking over an open fire. I highly recommend taking bug spray. Its a natural beach and bugs are part of the ecosystem but I just don't like to be their snack. Also be aware that this park has septic tank system style toilets and does not have showers in their day use area. I always bring a lot of water since the ocean air and sun can dry you out fast.

Yelp
This place is really nice. You want to be put in nature or on the beach this is the place to go. And a nice bridge walk that goes out over marsh.

Yelp
Fun place to go for family and friends. I love the environment less crowded and the fee is cheap too.

Yelp
Nice place to go to the beach. If cost to get in. If you drive west almost to the dead end there is a free beach access.

Yelp
Awesome clean beachfront. Also has paddle trails but we didn't bring our canoe. Camping is temporarily closed due to quarantine it's but open for day use. Free beach front camping at mcfadin beach right next to it. Can't beat that!

Yelp
We just went in for the day to go birding and explore. It was an overcast day but we saw SO many birds. We loved the fact that you could drive on the beach in certain sections as well as have a place to walk on the beach and swim. The nature trail was closed but we have heard it's amazing! We didn't run into mosquitoes because it was a pretty windy day so we got lucky! McFadden Wildlife refuge is right up the road and it was super neat too! The water isn't pretty, as in most places on the TX coast but walking along the beach was nice!

Yelp
We were on a cross country road trip and were beyond excited to stay on the gulf of Texas here in Port Arthur! We arrived into town very late and the extended drive from town to the State Park was like a nightmare. Gas and oil refineries everywhere you look. I got a terrible headache just from the fumes alone. But we're in a Port of Texas after all so I get it...I guess. Just not what we're use to. And let me warn you, if you plan on arriving late to this campground....be prepared to drive about 25 mph down that long straight road to get there. Because there are no lights and hundreds of animals crossing left and right. Very scary. We wanted to refresh when we got there so we searched and searched for the showers we were told were there. Finally we gave up search and walked out on the beach boardwalk only to find the showers at the very end of it. We were confused but ok, we'll take it! Cold water only!!! But being we've been on the road for 24 hours basically to get here, we sucked it up and gave in. Had an ice cold outdoor shower at 3 am when we were promised a warm bath house. But that's not what I'm here to talk about at all. What I'm here to talk about is the next morning. We wanted to catch sunrise on the beach to start our day off right. We wanted to let go of the stressful night before and begin a new. Little did we know it'd only get worse as soon as we'd step foot on the beach. Trash!! Trash everywhere!! Every square inch, every step you'd take...cigarette butts, bottle caps, plastic bags, fishing line, straws, balloons, broken plastic!! That beach looked more like a landfill!!! We spent 2 hours picking up trash and barely made a dent! It was incredibly disturbing especially since this place is a State Park!! They should be ashamed of themselves. Looks like that beach has never seen a Good Samaritan!!! We were completely disturbed and had to get the heck out of there. That beach will haunt my nightmares for life. Please pick up after yourself and others when going out into nature.

Yelp
Basically all this park has going for it is a beach, minimal wildlife except for the alligators, no nature hikes, and very little accessible non beach land. But if a beach is what you are looking for, this is the place for you. Miles of beach to the left and right with huge swaths of it available to drive on but several sections closed to traffic so you can sunbathe without worrying about being ran over. I was camping here and if you are planning to camp here be, be prepared with gas and groceries. The nearest gas or groceries are nearly 20 miles away. Also, if you are camping and a bicyclist, bring your bike. The park is 10 miles from the nearest people on a dead end nicely paved road that is flat as a pancake. It makes for a great ride.

Yelp
Sea Rim is pretty, but the park is small, quite dirty, and (to be honest) kind of falling apart. The boardwalk to the beach was newer and very safe. And, while the views were pretty (and the weather was absolutely gorgeous), the beach was not very clean. My biggest complaint is related to other boardwalk - which was missing boards every so often, which I couldn't believe! How dangerous! It's a pretty stop though - and hard to believe it's so close to Houston!

Yelp
Beware! There are clouds of misquotes at dusk. I've never experienced anything like it. We got there at dusk and had to fight the urge to leave for the nearest La Quinta. The park folks were actively picking up the trash on the beach- and it was pretty uncrowned- but really the mosquitoes were insane. Bring bait and bring tons of repellent and long clothes. Bonus - the folks that work here are super nice!

Yelp
We camped at site 10 in our trailer for 3 nights. The sites are mostly pull-through and level, so it's super easy to park. The pad was long enough to fit both our 20 ft trailer and SUV. Our site was next to a marsh but had a nice view of the ocean. There is a public bathroom, but we did not use it, so I don't know how nice it is. You have to go through Port Arthur to get here, and it's a small enough town that we didn't hear any road noise from the park. Quiet and peaceful. It's just a short walk to the beach from the RV sites. You can pull your vehicle up on the beach if you want to, and I think some day visitors do that. The beach has some trash, dead fish and seaweed, but it was pretty nice other than that. We were able to bring our dog, on leash, everywhere in the park, including the beach. I believe there is one trail in this park. We didn't hike it, though. The mosquitoes are killer. No joke. We got inside our RV around sunset and didn't come again until late morning. I guess it's because the park is right next to a marsh? I'm not sure. We saw an alligator in the marsh! We also saw several species of birds. The Red-winged Blackbird seemed to be everywhere. Would definitely come back! I like how the park is smaller. It's more private and quiet that way.

Yelp
From what I hear, Sea Rim got hit pretty hard by Ike in 2008 (ie wiped out) and the park has had a difficult time recovering. They seem to have their feet beneath them again, even though their recovery is still a work in progress. We stayed at the new cabin in the marsh and other than a few growing pains, we had a fabulous time. Here's what you need to know: ~You can't get to Sea Rim from Galveston, 87 stops at High Island. You'll need to come in via Port Arthur. Honestly, driving 287 down from Dallas was a helluva lot more enjoyable than 45 through Houston ever was. ~Park headquarters is at the Beach entrance, down the road on the left (past the Marsh entrance). No one realizes this and we had many knocks on the door due to the confusion. Hopefully, the park will put up better signage soon. ~Cabin rental is $95/night with a refundable $50 cleaning fee (they inspect the cabin before you leave and if all is good, credit your card right then). ~The cabin has A/C, oven, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, sleeping for 6 and a full bathroom. Bring your own sheets and fishing gear and you'll be set. ~The cabin is right next to the boat ramp into the marsh. You'll have visitors. ~The beach is a primitive, seaweed covered beach with Gulf water. There's no Florida white sand to be found. ~You can camp near the beach. I wouldn't. But you could. Sea Rim may not be a beachside paradise but there are many reasons I'd return. The marsh is full of wildlife and watching it all live while drinking a cup of coffee on the back porch at sunrise is about as good as it gets. Be sure to tell the alligators hey for me.

Yelp
We LOVE this park!! We come here numerous times a year. We love that it is small and doesn't have many spots to camp. Yes the mosquitos are bad but you are in a swampy area so that is a given. Just bring bug spray! The place is always clean and never has trash just sitting around. Everyone working here is really polite & willing to help. We have never had an issue. We did have an alligator in our site early one morning but again...it marsh land! Just pay attention.

Yelp
Love this place, it's small and quiet. The staff has always been courteous and helpful.

Yelp
Here's the main thing to keep in mind if you're headed to Sea Rim - this is a primitive, natural beach. That means that even though there is sand and surf to be enjoyed, the surf is likely to be gray and gritty, and the sand covered in seaweed and trash that washes in from the Gulf. Sea Rim got hit by almost consecutive hurricanes a few years ago and it still hasn't bounced back completely. I wish I had seen it before, because I might have been more impressed. I can not stress the words primitive and natural enough. This is not a beach with cabana boys and umbrellas already set up. You can drive your vehicle right onto the beach, park, and set up camp for the day with your tires inches from the surf. And in your vehicle, you better bring everything you would need for a day in the wilderness - food, water, sunscreen, first aid kit, extra clothes, etc. There may have been a porta potty somewhere but I didn't see it. There are no lifeguards on duty, so swimming is at your own risk. Be aware of rip currents and how to escape them BEFORE you get in the water. Apparently, camping is allowed but with no water or electrical hookups, you better be self sufficient. There is at least one boardwalk trail through the marsh, but I didn't personally walk it. Be aware of mosquitoes. They come out in CLOUDS around dawn and dusk and, from what I've heard, the breeze does little to dissuade them. Fishing is also allowed, but there seems to be no designated area so watch that your children don't accidentally step on someone's hook. Lastly, it doesn't really smell like the ocean. I know how odd that sounds, but I think being so close to a large number of oil refineries has something to do with it. Of course, it could have been all the seaweed drying in the sun. This COULD be an amazing ocean front state park, if only the hurricanes would let up enough for the state to actually do something with it, and if the state were proactive about this little stretch of land a lot of people don't even know is there. A large rake attached to a four wheeler would make a HUGE difference. If you don't like the trash that you see, grab some of it to throw away on your way out of the park. Leave it cleaner than you found it and help us turn it into the park it should be.

Joanne H.

Yelp
we just returned from the so called state park called SeaRim I understand it was devastated by the hurricane several years ago and a lot of money was given for its revival but I have honestly never seen such a mess, we paid the fee to get in but then found out that there actually is NO BEACH ACCESS AT ALL the sea weed has been allowed to pile up so much that is is approximately a 15 foot strip of mess between you and the water and is 5 or 6 inches deep in some places and the closer you get to the water the higher and worse it got, you stepped into it and you were then in knee keep wet goop and could not go any further some one should contact the State of Florida and have them come out and show you what a BEACH is supposed to look like, even if you only clean a part of it by the boardwalk at least people could enjoy your Brown waves this is a joke for a beach and considering it is the only one on this side of Texas you would think that someone would take some of that money that was set aside for it and rent a bulldozer to clear a portion for PAYING VISITORS MAYBE THE QUESTION SHOULD BE WHERE DID THEY SPEND THE MONEY We were prepared for rustic, no bathrooms etc but this was just a total disaster.
