The Best Restaurants in St. Petersburg–Clearwater - AFAR

"A downtown seafood-and-wine restaurant distinguished by a dramatic 22-foot-tall wine cellar stocked with over 4,000 bottles and an 80-foot raw bar showcasing oysters, king crab, and shrimp. Under chef Fabrizio Aielli, the kitchen highlights Florida seafood and produce and employs more than 130 sea salts from around the world; sample dishes have included pasta with king crab and caviar and snapper with burrata whipped potatoes and wild mushroom ragu. A happy hour (3–6 p.m.) offers discounted bar bites such as fish tacos, tuna sliders, and an Angus burger with applewood-smoked bacon and gorgonzola." - Susan B. Barnes

Food was very good overall! The portion of potatoes was a bit small, but the donut hole balls were absolutely amazing—definitely a must-try. Our bar server was super friendly, and the place had a nice, elegant vibe. Great spot for a classy bite!

Google
Fantastic food! Superb prefix meal. Great value for the money. Service was fast and on point. They were gracious enough to let us take photos of the kitchen.

Wow, this place was absolutely incredible. We went all out. The drinks were absolutely delicious. Perfect balance of spicy in my margarita. The seafood, as expected was perfectly cooked. Service was absolutely impeccable. I would highly recommend this place anytime you’re in town. This review was made in connection with a Toast promotion.

Google
Amazing dining experience at the Sea Salt. Service was excellent and so was the atmosphere, with ample seating both inside and outside. For starters, we ordered the grilled octopus, the dry aged steak carpaccio, and the fried calamari. For entrees, we had the braised short ribs alla genovese, the jumbo tiger prawns, the grilled king salmon, the sesamw crusted branzino, and the wagyu tagliatelle. Everything tasted absolutely wonderful, cooked to perfection. However, what stood out from Sea Salt compared to other restaurants was their ability to mix many different ingredients within each individual plate (see the picture of the menu for details) and make them taste unique. Easy 5 stars.

Google
The food was absolutely exquisite—every bite was perfection, showcasing fresh ingredients and incredible flavors. Huge kudos to Chef Josh and his talented team for creating such culinary masterpieces. The service by Angelina was impeccable; she was attentive, knowledgeable, and made our evening extra special. To top it off, GM Tanya greeted us with such warmth and genuine hospitality that we truly felt like we were at home. Sea Salt is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Can’t wait to return!

The swordfish, asparagus, and truffle fries were amazing! The service was also incredible. Luca made sure we got everything we needed and was so kind. The patio area makes for a great evening. Especially with the heaters. Would highly recommend Sea Salt

Google
Four of us visited for the first time and were very disappointed, mostly because of the poor service. The food was good, small portions based on the prices. We sat in the alley and our Waiter was late to the table and absent after he took our orders. Food came and he never asked if we wanted Salads, Bread, or even refills on our Drinks. The restaurant was not even busy but we could not find him. The Manager never stopped by so we decided to finish and pay. Thanks Frank for the memorable experience...there too many good restaurants in Naples we won't return. We dine out 3-4 nights at week and Sea Salt took the Prize this season for the worst dining experience as we wished good friends farewell.

Google
Really nice experience. Went with my three daughters and the jefe. Lol The wine selection is amazing. The four course specials make for a perfect evening of great conversation. I can’t wait to come back. Thumbs up this review to get more genuine reviews like this one.

Yelp
I'm old, but no need to treat me like I'm invisible. I was excited to have my family in town and share a great meal with them at Sea Sal

Yelp
We love sea salt, it's our favorite when we're in Naples. It's so pretty and special here and the menu is hard to choose. There is indoor and outdoor seating with South American tennis in Buenos Aires on the big screen. I ordered a rare tuna bowl and my husband, the black Angus burger. My salad was exceptional with sun-dried tomatoes, pignoli nuts, red, cabbage, and tons of flavor.

Yelp
We had a great anniversary meal here. We ordered the shaved Brussels sprouts salad, the chicken, and the three course meal. Everything was great, as was our server. They also gave us a nice dessert for our anniversary. Even though it was hot out, it was rainy and nice enough to sit on the patio. I really enjoyed our meal and would definately go back!

Yelp
We sat at the bar for service and it was very good. They were attentive and informative about the menu. We were disappointed in the flavors of the seafood and the spices used to enhance the food. We needed more pizzaz for the price.

Yelp
I can't say enough about how great the food was at Sea Salt. For starters the salt that comes with your bread is a great introduction to the restaurant. The seafood platter of crab, oysters and shrimp is great way to start for a big group. For dinner, I had the roast beef tenderloin and it was amazing, cooked to perfection (medium rare). For dessert, the white truffle and vanilla bean gelato was a fantastic way to end the evening. As a bonus, the check comes with cotton candy.

Yelp
Cute place, a friend of mine told me to came and check it out. Of Course I'v order the Ceviche for appetizer. It was ok, not great or delicious. For main I had the Octopus. Again good but nothing wow about it. Both dishes was missing textures and flavor. Not coming back :(

Yelp
I'm giving two stars (vs one) on the assumption that our bad experience was partially due to timing (Sunday 2:30-3:30p). Lunch was ending (I think, we never got a lunch menu) and it was mid happy hour, before dinner menu had started. There were only two meal choices so we ordered the pork kimchi on ciabatta (which was very good) and a few happy hour starters. The sandwich came before the starters. The server/bartender was stretched too thin. After the food was dropped off we never heard from anyone until we begged for a check so we could leave. Was never offered water to accompany cocktail. Burrata needed salt and bread (or something... no flavor and meh) but there wasn't a chance to ask for it. Shrimp cocktail was warm and falling apart without tails on and served w aioli not cocktail sauce (it's 98 degrees so was looking forward to a cold and horseradish-y shrimp cocktail). Never cleared from in front of the bar area where we were sitting were used condiments from the last guest. I'm bummed because I've been looking forward to coming here. The prices are Naples normal but not worth it in this case. The full lunch and dinner menu look great, but I won't be back.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious! Probably the best Italian cuisine inside the US. The ambiance is casual yet delightful. Our waiter/server was very knowledgeable and professional. Definitely 5 stars!!! Eva and Robert

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant, on the expensive side. Food was great. They charge for Bread $6.50 VERY NOISY inside. Uncomfortably noisy.

Yelp
Love the yummy shrimp pasta, the fried whole fish is delicious, too. Will come back for sure!

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday night during Christmas time and were able to walk in as a party of 8 which was really nice and unexpected. We ended up doing the 3 course meal for $49 a person and it was really good for the price in comparison to the rest of the menu. The peanut butter parfait is a must.

Yelp
They weren't seating in the dining room when we came for a late lunch but still had a great meal at the bar. The fish tacos were totally loaded with fish and the tuna nachos were unique and yummy. Drinks were great.

Yelp
It was our first time in Naples. Passing by other restaurants we saw Sea salt and decided to stay. We were happy to find this place. Excellent place. Oysters are fresh and good. Fish is amazing. Definitely highly recommend it. Will be coming back again.

Yelp
We enjoy Sea Salt. Good food and friendly staff. They also offer Happy Hour at the bar from 3-6.

Yelp
Top notch food and service, we were impressed. We visited for lunch and sat outside on their nice patio on a beautiful day. We had a great waiter who provided excellent and friendly service. The complementary bread service with a variety of flavored salts is a real plus. Cocktails were perfect, and our lunch entrees were beautifully presented, plated and more importantly delicious. I can't think of a single thing that I could critique. The grilled Mahi sandwich was perfection, served with crispy fries that clearly were made to order. We also tried the tempura shrimp, wow! Huge, crispy with a delightful sauce. Seriously excellent food here. This is a very popular place, and with good reason. Make a reservation. Parking on street is difficult, but they offer complimentary valet parking in the rear parking lot. Do try when in Naples. Highly recommended

Yelp
I am astonished at the fact Sea Salt only averages 3.5 stars on Yelp! Because this was a phenomenal restaurant. A memorable food experience that will keep me coming back to Naples time and time again. Service was excellent from the time we walked in. Accommodating and kind. Appetizers: Shrimp Cocktail and bread basket. Shrimp was massive and super fresh. The bread basket and truffle honey butter came warm and we left nothing behind Entrees: Grilled King salmon, Crispy Brussels, Boneless Short Rib, sautéed spinach. WOW! Every bite was better and better. Everything cooked to perfection.

Yelp
Sea Salt is one of my family's absolute favorite restaurants in Naples! We love trying new things on the menu, and are never let down! To make things even better, the Sea Salt staff is wonderful, and we love seeing both returning and new faces. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
My favorite restaurant! All the time satisfying food, service and atmosphere! Worth to come and enjoy nice lunch or dinner !

Yelp
I had some dinner tonight with relatives. We started with the bread, toasty warm and delish. I ordered a Moscow mule which was good. For dinner I ordered the crab bisque and a beet salad. The soup is served with the tiniest blob of crab then the bisque is poured into the bowl. It was served like warm. My beet salad had thin slices of apple. It was good. My cousin ordered his steak medium rare and it came out well done. He mentioned it to the server. They offered to make him a new one but the bummer about that is then we finish our dinner and his would just be coming out so he decided to eat his. Thankfully they took it off his bill.My other cousin ordered the potato gnocchi and enjoyed it. They had a couple of strikes with us tonight but tried to make it better which I appreciate.

Yelp
Ordered the special Hogfish upon waitress recommendation. The fish came out whole, fried standing on its side. It was extremely difficult to eat, was dry and getting pieces without bones was nearly impossible. Other diners could were bemused (and appalled) as they watched us try to dissect the fish. As it was a special we were not told the price of the entree so were surprised to find that it was $85! Waitress should have explained how this fish was served (and the price which far exceeded other menu items) up front

Yelp
We first started at the bar where we received absolutely phenomenal drinks and the bartender was very sweet and attentive. After two drinks each, we were seated at a table on the porch and started with bread. The bread was good. We had to ask our waiter what the sea salt options were in front of us. Loved the red wine and the smoked. We both ordered the 3-course and it was not very good. My appetizer was the mussels on bread which comes out soggy and the mussels very gritty. It was also a bit spicy and under seasoned. For my main course, I ordered the grilled branzino. Branzino is a delicious white fish however it is grilled with the skin on which is too bitter to eat. I ended up having to peel the skin off myself in order for it to be edible. I'm not opposed to skin on fish but this was just inedibly bitter and left a nasty taste in my mouth. Overall the entree was seasoned very poorly. I ordered the chocolate gelato for dessert which was delicious (albeit hard to mess up gelato). My guest ordered the doughnuts which were very tart and sour because of the raspberry sauce and didn't enjoy them. Overall great bar but very poor dining experience. Our waiter was not very attentive but fortunately the other waiters walking by would help us as needed and refill our water. I will not be back.

Yelp
Visiting town and decided to try this place. Our server Skylar was awesome! She knows her dishes, made great recommendations. We were seated quickly- no wait for an early 630pm dinner. Tried the specials Grouper and Branzino. The oysters from Massachusetts were delicious. The tartare just okay- the reason for 3 stars- is the food can be more flavorful. The dishes were alright - we didn't really get that desire to come back and try out more dishes. Overall service was good.

Yelp
We went to Sea Salt for Easter lunch and it was fabulous! The wait staff were very nice/ attentive, and the ambiance outside was great. I would describe the place as upscale, but casual. I was worried it would be too stuffy feeling, but I found it nice and relaxing. The food was also delicious. We started lunch with some complimentary bread and holy moly.. don't skip the bread! It was so good, especially when dipped into the three types of salt.. yum! Then moving onto the actual meals, those were great as well! We had the tuna sandwich, mahi mahi sandwich, a burger and the salmon poke. Everything was awesome, however, I wish the waitress would have warned me that the salmon was more of an appetizer portion than a lunch portion. Luckily, I had some friends to share with. Final thought - if you go here, I would recommend taking a visit to the bathroom. There was a giant swordfish on ice, on display right outside the bathroom, and it was quite the view. The bathroom also had some salt exfoliant for your hands and my hands were so soft after! I would definitely come back here again!

Yelp
Have always loved this restaurant and we always come when in the Naples area. But sometimes one bad employee can ruin the entire experience and ruin wanting to go back. Last weekend we dined at Sea Salt and I'm not sure if he was the manager because he was dressed differently than all the servers but a gentleman with long black hair combed back and glasses had the worst most arrogant attitude I've ever seen. Not sure what reason he had to act like that, especially considering we were there having a $300 lunch with 2 other tables in the entire restaurant. He ruined the entire experience, I prefer to stick to places that appreciate their customers. Many other options in the area that are not arrogant with disgusting attitudes.

Samantha M.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday dinner in January. 10/10 experience. I forget our servers name but he was fantastic! Very knowledgeable about the menu and had good banter. Had a few vegetarian options and the food was great. Had the peanut butter dessert with a candle in it (absolutely delicious) and the server and my wife lightly sang Happy Birthday. Overall everything was great.

T C.

Yelp
Holy cow, when all your guests are wearing winter coats, including the bar staff, you might want to just maybe close the windows. It's 55 friggin degrees tonight with wind...

Yelp
Steak was beautifully cooked to my medium rare choice with mash potato and asparagus sides. The perfect anniversary dinner and I would go again every year.

Yelp
Oasis on a busy street. There are many restaurants to choose from in the area but Sea Salt was perfect for Easter lunch, family of four. We sat on the patio, white table cloth, excellent service and food. Tables are nicely spaced, not jammed right next to one another. Food is always good here. Tuna dishes are fresh, I had the tuna sandwich and our daughter had the tuna tartar. Both were amazing, great flavors. A trip to the ladies room finds sea salt in a bowl to soften your sun baked hands. Nice touch.

Yelp
Hard to say anything bad about the food but the service was not great. Being we were visiting from the midwest, our service wasn't as good as someone who would be a regular living in Naples. In fact, we heard our server talk shit about "the tourists" to the table right next to us and eventually had continuous looks from that specific table. Meanwhile, our server Frank H. was extremely nice to all the regulars and half assed serving our table. My BF and I have been to many restaurants where we were tourists and not once did someone treat us incorrectly because we were from a different state. We sat outside, so maybe sitting inside would have been a different experience. After, we went to the Tommy Bahama restaurant and had exceptional service by Bonnie. She was the sweetest and actually cared.

Yelp
First time on 3rd. Pretty cool street with nice looking places to eat. We came to sea salt ready for their 4 course meal with wine for two. First thought was that they probably should have given you a choice of at least two items per course. The menu had very rich items which I like. My wife likes things a little lighter. The blue crab soup was good but seemed to be missing the crab. It had the flavor but I didn't taste any meat. The next pasta dish was in a truffle sauce. This was great for dipping your bread. The fish was bronzino and was very nice. Light crisp skin and mild fish. The polenta it was on was probably the best thing in the meal. It was really rich with a funky cheese. The deconstructed cheesecake was a nice final course. The patio outside is nice but we did start to get hot near the end of the meal. Try to get under a fan of you are heading outside.

Susan L.

Yelp
We had a reservation and requested an outdoor table. They said there was a 45 min Waite for the outside table because they were first come first serve. We waited. - finally seated after 40 min - but a table that had been empty for 30 of those minutes was still empty an hour after we sat down.

Yelp
Excellent dinner across the board! Ahi Tuna Tartare, Calamari & Pan Roasted Red Snapper were all absolutely excellent!

Yelp
Had a gift card and still left to go across the street. My fiancé and I sat at the bar and had the worst service of any bar in Naples. We love sitting at the bar because usually it is so friendly. At Sea Salt we felt like we crashed a party we were not invited to. All the servers were talking to each other but said nothing to us. Dropped off the menu- said nothing. Dropped off our drinks - said nothing. We decided it was not worth staying even though it would have been free because of our gift card and we walked across the street to Campiello. Too many other great places to eat. Don't bother with Sea Salt. One star because zero is not an option.

Yelp
In the first place to the food...overall it was good. The Venetian Chef is clearly talented and the Swordfish with fried egg and caper sauce was perfectly cooked and presented, as was the Octopus appetizer. It truly showcases his maritime expertise. Unfortunately, the Prime 14oz NY Strip Steak was not as successful, but because of the quality of the meat which was mediocre at best - shame. So why 2/5 - the service - or rather total lack of it! Probably the worst we've seen for a very long time and our table was not the only one totally ignored, the table next to us with 3 Gentlemen solicited complaints from them and requests for a different server. In our case the wine was decanted on our request in a totally inadequate small water jug which then nobody poured, the water service was nonexistent, the server delivering our food almost knocked the plate onto my lap he was in such a hurry, we had to request a proper steak knife to actually cut the meat and then waited 5 minutes while the steak got cold, no-one ever bothered to check on us during the service as to how the food was or even if we needed anything and so the list goes on. The manager albeit professional, seemed totally beside herself and harried and was not in control of the floor as otherwise none of this would have happened. Bottom line for the flagship restaurant of the Naples based Aielli group and a very expensive one at that - the failure was huge and so disappointing as it also happened to be my wife's birthday. The lesson being that a Restaurant is all about delivering a package for the price and that starts with service and ends with quality food. One without the other is an absolute failure. One more thing and a personal beef perhaps, but when I go into a fine dining restaurant, I look forward to enjoying the ambience as much as anything - and to be bombarded with TV screens on every wall advertising their other restaurants is at best crass and at worst really in bad taste.

Yelp
we stumbled in for lunch. ordered crab stuffed avocado, and I ordered blackened fish taco salad. Very small portion for the crab stuffed avocado , the lumpy crab meat tasted great. fish cubes were tender and crispy for the taco salad. Portions could really be larger. the bread was good, expecially with different salt with premium olive oil. entrees averaging $25-$30 a pop, a little pricey for the portions.

Yelp
I don't think I've ever given a one star review, but you guys really worked for it. Absolutely terrible service from the waiter Dabren! Quite unsettling to have a bad waiter on NYE and feel like you should give him a pep talk or wish you had a sticky note to remind him of what you just asked for 3 - 4 times before receiving it 10 minutes later (Like asking for lemons for your water, or asking for a water refill) or asking again for your cocktail that was ordered 25 minutes ago - all while the server has come back to take your dinner orders and you have to ask again about your drink. I normally don't give bad reviews but this is absurd for a restaurant like sea salt with the reputation and the fact it was New Year's Eve. When receiving a large bill at the end of dinner for a group of six people on New Year's Eve, the last thing you should hear your server to say is "sorry for the lack of service." Unfortunately, this was exactly what we heard from our waiter Dabren as he handed us the check. While I appreciate the apology - If that doesn't say some thing in itself about his lack of service, I don't know what does. The waiter recommended getting the "deboned whole branzino" entree ($65), so 4 of us ordered it and 2 of us sent our plates back because our fish were burned and flavorless where the other 2 at our table had great branzinos. So I see it as a 50/50 chance on it being good or not. The 2 of us sent back our branzino and got the pan roasted red snapper ($58) instead. The snapper was delicious, cooked and plated well. The kurobuta pork chop was good, but not great according to the person who ordered it at our table. I ordered the prickly pear margarita and I don't know if it was waiting half an hour to get it that made it taste so good or if it was actually a great margarita!? Really disappointed overall because I believe that part of going out and the whole dining out experience is not having to sweat the small stuff and leave the restaurant feeling like going there made your night better, not the opposite. Kudos to sea salt to making our 2021 NYE dinner memorable. Guess you were really trying to stick to the whole "2021 sucked" theme. Cheers.

Yelp
Review for bar only, 1 appetizer. We arrived about 15 minutes before happy hour ended, and although the place was packed, 2 people were just leaving so we had seats at the bar. It took a while for the bartender to take our order, there was only one for the bar and the inside/outside restaurant for about 15 minutes, when a second bartender arrived. There was someone there who provided water and kept doing laps to let us know we were not forgotten, but as he was not a bartender he could not serve us. The house white was $6, and after HH it was $12. Both pours were generous, wine is non oak tasting. The next least expensive glass of wine was $19 a glass. We got the ceasar salad "wraps". It was great they brought them out already split on 2 dishes, 3 on each, with chopsticks. The lettuce and dressing inside was tasty. The wrap was similar to a sushi rice flour type wrap (not a piece of romaine lettuce which is what I was expecting). It didn't have any flavor but I guess did have the means to make a Cesar salad look like sushi. $17 is also pricey. It is nice inside, has a classy beachy vibe.

Yelp
Different salt for different meals. The service staff take it very seriously as there are high standards to be met. Attention to detail and the chef works hard. Delish!
google avatar

Carol T.

Yelp
First I would like to acknowledge how kind our server was and how impeccable her service was. The assistant manager, the guy that seated us... was cold, he was not kind at all and at the end of our meal he came and grabbed our plates, while my husband was still drinking his cocktail, without one word and dismissed us. I watched his behavior towards the locals and it was completely different. I guess this place doesn't appreciate out of town guests.
google avatar

Gail G.

Yelp
Food was outstanding but the waiter was rude and inconsiderate I was prepared for the staff being difficult or at least treating us non locals differently because of so many previous comments. I was very unprepared for him getting between my husband and me in a private conversation. The restaurant lived up to its reputation in the tastiness of the oysters. They were also cleaned properly. Need more training of just plain old fashion social manners. Next time we'll go out with our friends, who are locals.

Bill B.

Yelp
It was my first time to Sea Salt for dinner. I ordered the Ravioli. There were nine mini raviolis beautifully presented on my large plate. My entire dinner was just nine bits. That's it! If you're into pretty, petite servings and pricy food, Sea Salt is the place for you. Others in our party had similar sized dinners. It's amazing to me how creative the chefs can be with their presentations with so little actual food on the plate. I also realized there was no chance of eating more than allowed on one's weight loss diet. I think next time I'll just look at the pretty food pictures on their website and find another place to eat a real meal.
google avatar

Mark P.

Yelp
Had been looking forward to trying out Sea Salt for a while after some recommendations, so when the occasion arose, headed straight here - it lived up to expectation and was a terrific experience all around. The food was quite good - I thoroughly enjoyed my fresh grilled grouper entree and octopus appetizer. The braised black chickpeas under the octopus we're actually fantastic; the kind of dish I'd like to figure out how to make at home and eat it by the bowl full! The service was very attentive and knowledgeable. I'm not a wine expert but asked our waitress some detailed questions on a particular bottle off their wine menu and she responded with ease. The Manager, Tanya, was also great and went above and beyond to show our little daughter a great time, giving her a tour of the front of the kitchen area so she could see the fresh fish and chef action up close. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant has various areas to accommodate different dining experiences from outdoor patio dining, a few casual tables by the front bar area, the large dining room and then a private back room for 'chefs table' type dining. Definitely would put this restaurant towards the top of the list in Old Naples.

Yelp
Amazing!! This was our first time in Naples. The atmosphere at the restaurant and in the town was great. The food was also amazing. My favorite was the stuff oysters. They had so much flavor and you could definitely tell all the food was freshly made. We will definitely be back next time we are in town

Yelp
Visiting Naples for work I knew I wanted to dine at Sea Salt. It was fantastic! Great, relaxing atmosphere. Cocktails were sub-par (mojito & margarita). Food was delicious! Definitely a must.

Angela N.

Yelp
Regarding our dinner at Sea Salt last week: The doors were open and it was very hot inside, even at 9:00 PM. Everyone in the group was complaining about heat. (And we're Naples residents.) We were served drinks, then no servers came to the table for about half an hour. We finally got bread and they took our order maybe 40 mins after we arrived. Ordered the truffle ravioli and it was great but a tiny portion. I rarely complain but very disappointed.

Yelp
It would probably be a 5 if it wasn't so expensive. I was wandering around downtown Naples after being on the beach all day. Sea salt air (no pun intended) makes my appetite go crazy, so I was pretty famished. This place looked legit so I found a seat at the bar and looked over the menu. The drinks were pretty good. I don't remember which drinks I had ordered but I remember they were tasty and strong at the same time. I started with the heirloom tomato salad. This is in my top 3 of best salads I had ever eaten. The tomatoes were thick (but not too thick), the burrata was creamy and delicious, the lobster was poached perfectly, and the dressing was absolutely amazing. Def 5/5 for the salad. I ordered the seafood linguini pasta as my entree. It was beautifully presented and they didn't skimp on the seafood at all. The sauce the pasta was in was delicious and the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente. I loved the lobster in this dish. 4.5/5 for the pasta. For dessert I got some kind of chocolate tart. It was good and obvious they used quality chocolate. It was pretty good, but nothing out of this world. 3.5/5 for the dessert. My tab came out to $150 before tip for 2 drinks, a salad, pasta, and dessert. This place is in a prime location in an affluent area so they probably feel they can get away with charging high prices. Having said all that, the quality was there!
