Sea Sprite Beach Club

My experience at this hotel was a mix of great service and disappointing accommodations. The customer service was truly amazing. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to be helpful, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the room itself did not meet expectations. The bed and the tile flooring constantly made noise, which made it difficult to fully relax. Additionally, one of the bed sheets had what appeared to be a blood stain, which was very concerning and unacceptable in terms of cleanliness. While the service was excellent, the issues with the room significantly impacted the overall stay. I hope management addresses these concerns to better match the quality of their staff’s hospitality.

The property is in a prime location on the beach. It has been completely remodeled and modernized. The rooms and property were well maintained and very clean. Every employee I interacted with were professional and polite, and truly wanted our stay to be extraordinary.

My husband and I are locals and were so happy when Surfer Girl opened up at Sea Sprite -- it's so cute and the location is absolutely perfect. It has a stunning view, great drink list, and such nice staff. We decided to throw our wedding celebration on their roof top and it was such a wonderful evening. We planned the event with Angela and she was so helpful and nice during the whole process and made everything really easy -- and it turned out even better than I could have imagined! Jenna and Madison took care of us during the party and were so terrific, and the food was delicious. My family stayed at the Sea Sprite that weekend and they will absolutely be staying there in the future. The upgrades they've done are so nice and everyone at the hotel is accommodating and helpful. We can't wait to go back again and again (and it's great to have a go-to spot for family visitors!). Highly recommend staying here, popping in for a drink, or working with them on your next event.

When an overnight layover at LAX turned into 3 nights because of storms on the East Coast, we decided to spend our time here instead of one of the dreary hotels near the airport. The Sea Sprite was a mixed bag for us. The positives: Very cool vibe; great location on The Strand near shops and restaurants; very nice and clean rooms; our oceanview king had a huge window looking over the courtyard to the beach and ocean; beach volleyball games were fun to watch; the front desk welcomed us warmly and thoroughly when we arrived and ordered a taxi to take us back to LAX. Minor negatives: There is no elevator, although the front desk staffer carried our (heavy) luggage up to our room. Our room had very little lighting—we couldn’t read a magazine in the evening. And the free continental breakfast consisted of bagels, croissants, cereal, yogurt, oranges and bananas, juice, coffee and tea. In other words, very little protein and what I'd expect at a Days Inn, not from a place with a high-end restaurant. The big negative: The restaurant has become wildly successful and completely taken over all public spaces including barstools and outdoor couches. So there's no public space, indoors or outdoors, for hotel guests to relax. We got coupons for free drinks when we checked in, but nowhere to sit and enjoy them. As hotel guests, we felt we were second-class citizens. To get to our room we had to walk past the restaurant hostess, then move aside dining chairs and strollers to get to the stairs to our room. We could have gotten free loaner beach chairs and towels, but we really wanted to relax those comfy couches in the courtyard. And the restaurant was booked solid and very noisy throughout our stay, although it is shut down promptly at closing time. Hermosa Beach is a terrific place to stay if you have an overnight layover at LAX. Sea Sprite? Maybe not.

Disappointing Experience at This Overpriced Beach HotelMy stay at this beachfront motel was extremely disappointing, especially given the premium price of $600 per night in July. The accommodations were more akin to a budget motel than a luxury beach hotel.Upon arrival, we found sand on the floors and in the beds, despite not having visited the beach yet. This indicated that the room had not been properly cleaned before our check-in. Furthermore, the sheets had visible stains, and the supposedly "freshly changed" pillowcases were equally dirty.The air conditioning was another major letdown. The in-wall units were broken and replaced by a large, clunky portable AC that barely worked and was incredibly loud. The constant noise drowned out the soothing sound of the waves, which was one of the main reasons for choosing a beachfront hotel. Adding to the discomfort, the hot air exhaust from the portable unit was poorly managed, with a large tube casually hanging out of an open window, allowing the hot air to seep back into the room.Our rooms windows faced the alley. We heard the drunks partying into the night and were woken to the trash truck collecting dumpsters early the next morning. Given these issues, this hotel did not live up to its hefty price tag or its beachfront allure. Next time, I will choose a less expensive hotel a few blocks away from the beach and pay for daily parking instead. It’s clear that a cheaper option with better cleanliness and working amenities would provide a much more pleasant stay.

We've been up and down the Cali coast and settled in at the Sea Sprite for a two day stay. What a great location with close proximity to the promenade. The rooms are older but very clean. Plenty of towels, hot shower, clean sheets, yoga mat, kitchenette with refrigerator. Maybe exchange "older" for "quaint" as there is some nice history throughout the place. The storms that followed us from the north hammered the place but the staff already knew what to do even if this was an uncommon storm. Check out Good Stuff for breakfast and Tiki Kai for some fun cocktails. Thank you to all of the front desk staff and especially the folks keeping the beach club secured during the storm. We will be back!

Even though I only spent one night here, my short experience will pull me back for a longer stay in the future. Hands down the absolute best customer service I've ever received. When I arrived early, there was no issue to leave my belongings in the office while I wondered around town, only to find them placed in my room when I checked in. Ann was wonderful & helpful with anything I needed or asked about, quick and ready to answer my questions. As was the entire staff. The bartenders recommended local restaurants within walking distance that did not disappoint. The beds are comfy & the offered amenities were exceptional. It's hard to beat a tranquil view of the ocean while it's cool breeze sails over the fire pit to kiss you on the cheek. Honestly, if you don't book here for your next visit to Hermosa Beach, then I'm not quite sure what you are doing with your life. Respectfully. I can't wait to come back!

A long-time favorite destination for me and my daughter. We’ve been coming here for years and LOVE the refresh. We were only in town for the day and loved just sitting on the patio for drinks to catch the sunset. Can’t wait to come back and spend the night in their updated rooms!

Yes, you can't beat it, the location unless you are renting a house. The lady at the desk was very helpful and friendly, despite my late arrival and I was lucky enough to score a covered parking spot~I think it's limited, first come. Walked to all my favorite haunts and surrounded by food or could drive over to Manhattan B or Redondo B for a bit more. The remodel was nicely done, light and bright. Everything is fresh and clean, the best feeling. There is a house between the 2 buildings of rooms that they have that you could also rent FYI. Not sure how many it sleeps but location, location, location! Bring your roller skates, or rent them and just skate the length of the strand to the airports and back! South Bay Beach vibes!! Near so much food and beach, Volley ball, shopping everything. It's not "swanky" so 4 stars.

I had strolled past this hotel for years when I lived in the area and always wondered what the rooms were like. Fortunately, on this visit to the South Bay, I was able to stay. Location: Excellent. Beachfront and a block from the Hermosa Beach Pier. You can't beat it. Once you arrive, you don't need a car. Everything is within walking distance. Views: nothing like listening to the waves or watching the sunset from the comfort of your room. Parking: guests get 1 spot. It's tight and if it's full, you have to drive a block to the overflow lot. But, thankful they had parking in this very busy area. Rooms: updated and clean. Bed was comfortable. Mini fridge with drinks (water, soda, alcohol, etc) and some snacks are available (all for purchase). I was disappointed that they did not refill the mini fridge daily. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would return. I imagine the prices increase for the summer season, so we shall see.

We just returned from an overnight stay at Sea Sprite Hotel and it was a top-notch experience. From my first call to ask a question (are all rooms air conditioned - the answer was yes), to making reservations, ease of ongoing communication, professional front desk and the room itself it was great. Comfortable, clean (loved the shower head but there was a bit of mold around the bottom of the shower door), and location, location, location. We had interaction with at least 4 staff members, all of whom were helpful, cheerful and a pleasure to deal with. We had a Beach level Queen Suite (350 sq feet with a small kitchenette and a sitting room) - very appropriate for a couple and a nice size. Being on beach level meant we didn't have to climb steps with our bags! Great air conditioning (and an extra blanket in the room for the spouse who doesn't LIKE great air conditioning). We were there over a weekend, so the construction that is underway wasn't going on. (But we hope for a special offer from them as soon as their new rooms/restaurant are open!!). Most of all we loved being able to step outside to the Strand, the Beach and the Hermosa Beach Pier. There were several restaurants within a block, a few that served breakfast as well as lunch/dinner and two early morning coffee shops within 2 blocks (though a coffee maker was in the room, we opt for the more brewed flavors of a coffee shop). My disappointment was that none of these restaurants had a particularly gluten-free appeal (and none for breakfast. (hint to Sea Sprite - include those offerings in your new restaurant).

This place is a gem!!! Definitely, beyond what I expected. The room and view was amazing. Marina, James and the entire staff that I interfaced with were exceptional. I'm a bit of a germaphobe and could not really imagine staying anywhere else during this time. They were very attentive and addressed any concerns swiftly, providing incredible services. The bed was extremely comfortable & they've updated this room to include a couch with I believe a pull out bed with cute pillows & some cute ottomans which made for a nice cozy touch. It's just the right amount of space. Would've loved a kitchen but there's so many delicious eating places within walking distance. And the sunset and sunrises from the property are unmatched. Loved loved loved this place and absolutely cannot wait to return with friends or for simply just a nice quiet getaway in solitude. Such a perfect stay! My wife and I wanted a little getaway and wanted to go to a comedy show at the Comdey and Magic Club. So I found this little gem. This place is across the bike path from the beach, which is like 20 feet. You just can't beat the location. You park your car and everything is in walking distance. Parking kinda sucks, but find me a beach town that is doesn't.... We booked a ocean facing room with a balcony (room 18). My wife just freaked out about how cute it was. It was a nice room cozy room with hardwood floors and heated floors in the bathroom. I really couldn't of asked for anything more, other than the weather. I do have to give a thanks to the staff, it was raining and we were walking to all of the places we were going to places we were going to and we didn't pack an umbrella, went down to the front desk and they looked around and found one for us. But other than that, the staff was so friendly and obviously helpful. We will absolutely will be staying here again when we go to a show or just to relax.

We have stayed here a couple times and it is our favorite! Right ON the beach! Walking distance to everything! We did an Ocean view room in # 27 this last trip and will not be able to downgrade! Spacious and feels like an apartment. Living room with microwave, sink, fridge, bistro table, couch and waves crashing outside your veranda. Pricing is NOT cheap but you also do not have to rent a car or pay for overnight parking. Front desk is open 24/7 and all front desk agents have been very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend picking up supplies and enjoying happy hour watching people go by, with the sunset by the fire under the white lights. Hubz just noticed there is discounts on drinks at the office from 5-6pm to help stir up happy hour! The only constructive criticism I would share is upon arrival we noticed there was a woman's lipstick mouth print on the wall by the bedroom door, living room screen door was broken and the room door did not actually shut enough to close on its own. Make sure to pull that shut to be safe & secure. We stayed 4 days this last time. My husband & I were just chilling out in the room trying to sleep in after a fun packed weekend. I heard a knock on the door and got up to answer it. A cleaning lady came, after the usual 11am check out and reminded us check out time is 11am. She asked if we needed help with our luggage?? Basically to get us out of the room. Her approach did not sit well because all other personnel interactions were super accommodating and overtly awesome. We had already requested a late check out the day before and already paid to be able to stay until 1pm. We let her know we requested a late check out and was told 1pm. She quickly reminded us yet again that the check out policy time is 11am and they don't usually let guests stay til 1pm without an additional charge. My husband confirmed we did pay an additional charge already and we're told our checkout time was 1pm. She said her evening manager had not let them know of our late checkout time and she was going to double check. She never came back.

We had our annual baseball draft called Stratomatic and we been playing this for number of years. We wanted to do something near the beach and have to say we were very happy with the location and the room. Balcony was awesome to see the ocean and few steps from the sand on the boardwalk. Definitely right by the pier where number of bars and places to eat. There was 10 of us for the draft, but only 5 us stayed overnight after we were done with our draft. Two queen beds and 1 sleeper sofa it worked perfectly. It was nice little getaway from the city and the beach view was awesome . Definitely might do this again next season.

3 R's at Sea Sprite I had a great experience at Sea Sprite Hotel. It was just what I needed to REST, RELAX, and REJUVENATE. + nicely remodeled and decorated + lovely studio room + personal note on my bed was a nice touch + essential worker discount + extra measures for safety and cleanliness - pillows were too soft for my comfort - the refrigerator was too bright and noisy (no worries I just unplugged it) - no working AC...yet (The weather was fine and I didn't need the AC but it's + good to know there will be AC units in the rooms soon :) +++ I was pleased from check in to check out. The hotel is lovely and clean. The staff was professional, friendly, and helpful. A special thanks to Marina, the manager, and Miguel. They were great representatives for the hotel. They were extremely helpful and made me feel like a valued customer and made me feel very welcome. I recommended Sea Sprite to my friends and family. I will definitely return.

It was slim pickings for places to rent in our last minute weekend getaway, but I took a chance on Sea Sprite. It's not the Four Seasons, but if you're good with clean, newly renovated, easy-breezy boutique hotel (was once a motel), than Sea Sprite will do. Might not be the most luxurious or high end, but it was well cleaned, well stocked with towels and toiletries, nice beachy feel with new bathroom and decor. Located oceanfront in Hermosa Beach, it was totally enjoyable. No pool, no valet (but parking is included in the price), no restaurant (but does have a small convenience store in the lobby) and lots of restaurants nearby. Staff was super nice!

Johanne Willowsmith here , I decided to stay in this " marvelous hotel " called Sea Sprite and it was the worse mistake I could've ever made . My husband and I were traveling ,we had just arrived to the hotel from the airport as we got there to our surprise , the room we had booked that was suppose to be ready at 3 P.M wasn't ready at all . The assistant manager was rude to me and my husband by short talking us , not being polite at all , giving us attitude , and just has a disgusting way , treating people . Sad because as we took a walk around the property as we waited for our room to be ready she was YELLING at one of the housekeepers in a Unprofessional manner outside of a guest room or guest rooms in the first building .My husband and I were shook because she humiliated the house keeper , degraded her in front of people in public , my husband and I felt bad because this isn't the way she should treat the employees or anybody . THE OWNERS need to be aware of who they hire at the hotel and I will make sure that they're aware about this situation so the problem could be addressed . Scott will definitely be hearing from me soon . Our experience wasnt the best but the rest of the staff was friendly and helpful . Please think twice before staying here. Sincerely Johanne .

Amazing boutique hotel! Literally beachfront. The staff is so accommodating to your needs. The room we stayed at had a side view of the beach, sofa, and a small kitchenette with microwave, mini fridge and sink. Everything is local and walkable. We got a beach package so we could take to the beach. Such a great hotel for families and couples alike. My only regret is not booking more nights. Also we were able to check in early at 11am!

My wife and I took a weekend to see our kids in Los Angeles and selected this hotel because it was near the beach. A bit more expensive but it looked like a nice place. I reserved a "ocean View" room for 2 nights. When we got to the room, the only "Ocean View" was through the stairs. I complained to the manager and was told there was nothing they could do. I asked for a reduced rate because there was no "Ocean View" and their description of the room was not accurate. Again I was told there was nothing they could do. When I returned home I wrote to the hotel about our experience, provided details. And never received any response. Poor Customer Service and no one seems to care! Find another hotel!

I found a Gem of a Hotel with the Sea Sprite.The location by the pier is amazingly beautiful I'm staying here with my husband for our anniversary. The staff has gone out of their way to make it specialI'm blown away. When I first walked into the room there was flowers and balloons everywhere Rose pedals all over the floor and bed. Dream come true for me. My husband gave the staff all the flower arrangements and balloons. They hid them from me and set them up in another room which we moved into. I was soooo surprised I will post more pics on Yelp when I get back home. We're still here. I have all the flower pics on another device. Ohhh... we decided to extend our stay. We've been here now over a week. Thank you Sea Sprite Hotel staff for making our stay epic

I couldn't have been better stayed first couple of nights in the standard ocean view room which was wonderful then spent last two nights in the ocean front patio suite again couldn't have been better a hidden gem as far as I'm concerned definitely worth the money (which wasn't bad). Staff went above and beyond to help me surprise my wife for our anniversary

Great service, beautiful rooms, perfect location. Highly recommend! It is in the perfect location you can walk or bike everywhere, the beach is literally right next to the hotel. They also have wagons, boogie boards, umbrellas and chairs that you can rent and take to the beach for the day. And again, just incredible staff, everyone was so friendly. Will definitely be coming back another time!

Truly love this place. Even during construction this place is a gem. You truly can't get any closer to the water, the hotel is directly on the strand. It was my husband's 50th birthday and we originally planned a trip but thanks to the travel ban those plans quickly changed- we just needed a change of scenery. I was nervous using the travel sites because of the CVD-19 disclaimer, I booked directly on their site which was at a cheaper rate. The manager was extremely attentive and made us feel so welcomed- so much so, instead of checking out we extended our stay. The vibe was very relaxing-I can't wait to get back.

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Wanting to just get away from work (although I did bring my work laptop) I booked a one night stay at Sea Sprite Hotel on 1/10/2022. It was between this hotel and Hotel Hermosa. Looking into the pictures of Sea Sprite I thought it was a motel. I looked on instagram and more into their site and I decided to give it a chance. It was a great decision. I booked the Premier partial ocean view balcony 300 sq ft room. It was awesome! I enjoyed my partial view and the room had so much room. I appreciate the remodeling and updates especially the fridge. The bed was so comfortable, they provide robes and slip ons if needed, and the bathroom is roomy. The staff is amazing. Impeccable customer service for both check in and check out. They even held my luggage upon check out for me to finish my work meeting (so much for getting away). The 4 stars is because the poor parking. I did read about it so I wasn't as disappointed. Also, the doors are so loud. You can definitely tell when someone came through. Some of the USB chargers don't work as well as the outlets. I eventually figured out which ones did work. The TV program or however they set it up is horrible. If you turn up or down on the volume a robot type voice says every single number until you reach your volume level. It was annoying. With all that said, will I stay again? Most definitely! The customer service itself makes me want to come back. And if you know me, that is my number one thing. Plus the fabulous location being on the beach, near the boardwalk, and shopping, and restaurants.

They've done great upgrades to this hotel. My family and I had a lovely time. All 3 of our rooms had AC which was needed and appreciated. Location is perfect.

Well, it's now October 6th, 2021 and I just called my bank to find that the Sea Sprite still has not returned our money. To recap: They first didn't allow my wife or I to check in because they claimed that our debit bank card had declined the charges when in fact they had already taken the $899.90 for both nights from account. We had hoped to stay at the Sea Sprite even though they don't have air conditioning or heating because it was near my daughter's home and we were there to support her during a surgery she was undergoing. Fortunately, we were able to find a much nicer hotel with air conditioning and heating a bit further away for about the same price called The Shade at Redondo Beach. Which I will soon post a 5 star review on. My banker informed me that unfortunately some hotels do this regularly. They over book their hotel take your funds and count on some people just don't noticing that the funds were taken or give up trying to get their money back. And, when I was told my card was declined, I volunteered a different card or to even pay in cash but they said they were full so that explains what my banker was saying.

What an absolute charmer this place is! In fact, it is so great, I almost didn't want to let people know about it! haha My wife and I stayed here in late August and let me tell you...location, location, LOCATION! We were right on the sand (practically.) I mean, 10 steps and you are there. The rooms have obviously been redone and were spacious and very hip. They had plenty of amenities in the rooms we felt. The service and staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable during our stay. Walking distance to Hermosa pier with all of the shops, restaurants and bars. We couldn't have asked for anything more during our stay and are looking forward to our return...much sooner that we think! Oh yeah, it's an incredible value also.

This is what $400/night gets you. A room without AC. When we booked this place, we did not notice that the rooms didn't have AC, so when we got to the property on an 80-degree day we realized that the room was too hot and uncomfortable. We tried talking to the GM Marina about this to let us cancel our reservation so that we could move to a different hotel. BUT she wasn't budging and gave us horrible options, so we had no choice but to stay here. On top of not helping us out, she was also condescending. This was one of the worst customer service interactions we've experienced. This hassle ruined our vacation so Beware of making a reservation here.

Wanted to plan a staycation, and I couldn't have picked a better place to stay! Our room had a gorgeous view of the ocean. The inside of the room was so clean and perfect. The location was great, we were able to keep the windows open because of the lack of noise from outside! The staff was amazing and always greeted us when we walked by. Plenty of things to do within walking distance of the motel and lots of great food. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

The room and location were amazing, but not worth the rate. There is no A/C for starters. We had issues with our power going out. We had to request to have our room cleaned every day simply because they "forgot". The first night we were there, the floor was so filthy that we had to keep shoes on. We were traveling with two young children and misjudged this hotel as being a family friendly establishment. Management was well aware of large parties (as in 30-40 people) with very loud music taking place late into the night and did nothing.

Had an amazing weekend here with close friends. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and location. The staff is very friendly and the actual rooms are very chique and clean. Love the aestheics. It is steps away from good food and entertainment. We will definitely be returning.

Recently, I had the pleasure of staying at the Sea Sprite during a business trip.  Typically, I'm disappointed with the accommodations in SoCal; however, the Sea Sprite bucked this trend.  The rooms appeared to be brand new and were kept very clean.  The ambience of the room was modern yet very inviting.  There were plenty of outlets and USB ports for my devices; Wi-Fi signal was strong and fast.  The location is also quite good as it is right on the beach and a multitude of great restaurants and bars are within walking distance.  In my experience, it was perfect for both relaxation and business.  The staff was also very friendly and helpful with anything I needed.  I would choose the Sea Sprite for both business and pleasure.

We stayed here for Mother's Day and we had a great experience! They put a couple of roses in our room for this special day. We traveled with a toddler and requested an early checkin, which they made happen by a few hours. The customer service is top notch! The room and decor is beautiful. The location is everything needed. Walking distance to all of the restaurants/ shops/ bars. We had the view of the boardwalk/ pier. It's about 6 miles from the airport which worked out great for us. My only negative feedback was the floors were dirty and the sink do not drain well. But we would definitely come back for another visit.

This place is awful. The staff sucks, they're rude and not helpful. Parking is horrible. BEWARE your car will get blocked so don't be in a rush to leave anywhere. Location is the only thing they have going for them. Try fixing it up a bit? Not even worth the cheap rate

I don't normally write reviews about hotels, but this was SUCH an awesome experience I wanted to share what feels like a well-kept secret!! The location is unbeatable, literally right on the sand. Our kids could go surfing, we ate pizza and threw a frisbee around on the beach one night during an amazing sunset. It is minutes walk to restaurants and bars and the pier, which was super handy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you are not familiar with Hermosa, it has everything from pubs to upscale restaurants. Also a great place to combine business in Los Angeles with fun downtime. As a family of 4, we decided to book a suite, Because we needed room for a day of zoom for school and meetings. WiFi was free, and lots space made this possible, all while enjoying the ocean view. The rooms have a very tasteful upscale beach vibe. Bed was super Comfortable. Pull out sofa was huge. Kids who normally don't like sharing did not complain. Appreciated having the fridge and coffee maker. Free private gated parking was big bonus!! They also have a very cool house, also right on the beach front , which we would've booked it if it was available!! Next time!! We will definite be back.Highly recommend !!!

Great hotel to enjoy the beach! I like this hotel , I think they renewed it and it came out really good, rooms are nice clean and new and what's not to enjoy about having a great view to the sunset and the beach,at checking in the guys at the front desk were nice and very helpful!

This place deserves no business until they figure out their power issues. We weren't allowed to check in until 4pm and had our power go out around 8. We were unable to stay in the room and enjoy our time because they could find no solution. Why over book your hotel/motel and not have ways to remedy simple issues like this. No solution was offered and it still cost us over 400$ for one night. Just be aware and stay at your own risk. Apparently you can run a business and charge whatever you want because f the customers. I've gotten better service and POWER in third world countries lol

Customer service is terrible. Do not give this place your money. We booked a room for my husband's 40th birthday, which was over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. (And we had 3 sets of friends book rooms too, so lots of business brought to the property.) When we booked the room online, there was a 10% discount offer but no way to apply it via the website. So we booked the reservation for the room we wanted, which was a Patio King Suite. We needed this room because we had our 8-month old baby with us, so we needed that exact room layout/location for a number of reasons. We then rang the hotel to inquire about honoring the discount. The person at the desk said they could honor it and, to do so, would cancel our current booking and rebook the same room for us with the discount. Upon check-in, we were informed that the INCORRECT room had been rebooked, 100% by the mistake of the hotel upon rebooking our room. There was nothing offered to us for compensation of this massive error upon check-in and the General Manager, Marina, literally said "So do you want to check-in or not?" We had no choice but to check in and stay in the WRONG room because we had friends coming to the hotel for festivities. We had to change all of the birthday plans because they revolved around the amenities offered in the room we originally booked, and I couldn't celebrate my husband's birthday with him because I had to be in the room with the baby while the party had to be moved elsewhere due to this wrong booking disaster. All this to say, these ill feelings could have been avoided if the hotel had offered ANYTHING of significance as condolence for the mistake. But they offered little outside of a finger-point of blame at myself. One night's stay comped would have been kind and worth it for having to shuffle around birthday plans while also taking care of our infant daughter. But instead I was met with cowardly avoidance and rude tones from the GM when I finally got in-touch with her after she promised to follow-up with me and never did. Shame on you Sea Sprite. My family and friends will no longer be coming here as I'd never again give my money to such a rude establishment.

Let me just say this first... I'll never stay here again. Stay far away from this place if your gonna spend real $! The staff is extremely unprofessional and rude and even felt like they were a bit racist... there vibes and the way they treated me were extremely off... and I wouldn't see why when I pulled up in the nicest car there...? For $600+ a night??? STAY else where. Ritz Carlton would of been WAY better and WORTH OUR $! For the beach front view its nice but the rooms are crap and the staff was bad once again. We stayed here for 4th of July, the entire hotel was packed not being a problem everyone was having fun outside but around 10.30 a white old man came out (what looked like the owner) and told every family that they better keep it down and that he dosnt wanna have to come back and tell us again? The way he said it was like he was trying to start a problem... he came at us with nothing but attitude! luckily I wasn't drunk or I would of caught a case maybe lol... AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!! (BTW we were staying on the 3rd floor and basically there "best" room) the room didn't even have AC. They gave us not a stand up regular fan that cost $15-$20 but they gave us a baby tiny a** $8 fan! Literally size of your palm... ‍

WOW. My parents booked to stay here since I live nearby and I'm having surgery. They just got in town, had received a voicemail confirmation from the hotel, confirmed booking online when they made the reservation and leading up to the reservation. I just called to see about early check in and was informed by James (who also called my dad yesterday confirming on the phone), that the call was in error because their reservation had been cancelled!? They never called saying this, my dad found an email from 2 AM this morning stating it was cancelled bc of failed payment. My dad just looked at his bank records and the payment is pending on his card that has more than sufficient funds that he used all day today. We tried calling James back and NO answer or opportunity to leave a voicemail. So they lied, were unapologetic, and now non responsive. My parents are legit high and dry. While I have a studio apartment and they need to be close by for my recovery. SUCH HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. This was their partial anniversary gift to each other to stay on the beach and these people truly screwed them over, probably because they overbooked. Now there's nothing else comparable available.

I came to stay at the Sea Sprite this past weekend for my cousin's wedding. She had booked a block of rooms for a discount of the already bargain prices. You can't beat the location. Ocean front, walking distance to the action, seriously a steal at the prices they charge. My room was clean, carpet seemed to be new and it was pretty spacious. If I was to have a complaint it would be that in the morning I was blinded when I went to the bathroom because the sun was so bright. WAAAA WAAA Whoa is me. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Retro is the new black. Haven't ya heard?

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. Best location right on the beautiful hermosa beach. Rooms were super clean and bed was super cozy and there was 2 TVs! Recommend this over any hotel I've ever stayed at!

I think I am giving the Sea Sprite 1 extra star based on nostalgia alone. This place is a Hermosa Beach staple, and Lord knows how long it's been there. I used to stay here with my family during the summers from the late 70s to the late 80s. I hadn't been since the summer of 1988 and my husband and kids and I took an impromptu trip last weekend. It's still almost entirely the same as it was 22 years ago. The Sea Sprite consists of a 3 story basic motel, a 2 bedroom beachhouse with a large oceanview porch steps from the strand, and larger apartment type units with full kitchens. The rooms are really nothing to write home about, it's the location that is key. In the heart of Hermosa nightlife, steps from the beach, steps from the 18 mile "strand" (bikers, skateboarders, rollerbladers, etc. whizzing by at all hours). We had a good time. There were only a few drawbacks, that to be fair, I must mention. I don't know what is up with their pool these days but there were huge floatation devices (big ducks, rafts, cubes, etc.) floating in every inch of the pool. My 5 year old daughter wanted to go in, but there were rowdy college students partying on all the rafts, drinks in hand, so it wasn't appropriate. Not that big of a deal... Also, the bed was like a rock, very uncomfortable.. but again, not that big of a deal. You really can't beat the location (and nostalgia) which is why I rated it 4 stars. Oh, the price is pretty good too for being beachfront!

I can't for the life of me find one single reason to give this wonderful establishment anything other than a full blown, perfect, 5-star review, and everything all starts with one name, Marina Boulanger! She is the new manager of this motel, and truly is a god send from up above. The work that she has done in the past couple years in restoring and renovating what was once, sorry to say, a travesty of a motel into one of the most quaint, and adorable places to stay in the whole South Bay is nothing short of miraculous. She took care of my girlfriend and I for our 6 month anniversary and gave us a weekend to remember. If any of you are planning a special getaway, Marina should be the first person that comes to mind for guaranteeing you a weekend you WONT forget!

I love this place. Such a great spot to spend time with friends/loved ones. I stayed at the beach front bottom level of sea sprite to celebrate my 21st birthday and had so much fun. Next to the hotel is the hermosa strip of super fun bars and lounges. My only complaint is that there are a lot of weirdo crack head drunk homeless people around. On one occasion I was eating a crepe out front and a homeless man came up to the wall that separates the walk way and the hotel, reached his arm over and grabbed my crepe off my plate!! SO scary. Another time, I was inside by the kitchen setting up food for my birthday celebration and a homeless man came up to the wall and said "can I come in" we kept saying no (he clearly was on drugs) he finally left when I called the cops. They also need to fix the locks on the bathrooms ! I've been coming for years and the bathroom locks never work! Other then the weirdos this place is great! Sleep with the door locked for sure.

Ok so myself and family wanted to get out of the house for a weekend and plot somewhere by the beach and we came up on Sea Sprite Hotel. Decided to try this place out and let me tell you it was THE BEST decision we made as for as beach hotels go! We even upgraded our room to a brand new beautifully remodeled BEACH HOUSE that was located right off the actual hotel grounds and it was AMAZING! Comes with 2 bedrooms and a pull out sofa, beautiful rustic beachy feel has a kitchen as well BUT if you plan on cooking you have to bring your own pots and pans, that was no bother at all though. It's right on the beach, can't get any better than that! Let me also say that the front clerks were so accommodating: Anne, James, Rudy, and John all did a fantastic job! Thanks again you guys we can't wait to stay here in the future ! Cheers, Samson

location =5 stars. everything else = seriously bad disappointment! not to mention BED BUGS!!! AFTER A 3 NIGHT STAY, MY FAMILY IS ALL BIT UP! 2ND IMPORTANT NOTE: SMOKERS COME HERE TO DIE. the designated smoke area is in the middle of the complex. so when you have windows , and front door slider open to take in the fresh breeze, its cigarette smoke you get! there is only a cheap fan, no A/C, so at night you need to leave Windows open for air. so by 6am, some old dying hag will be puffing her cool menthol 120 ultra lights, and it will get blown right into your room! GOOD MORNING, SMELL THE CANCER!? RIDICULOUS!!! The pool is falling apart, all plaster around the deck is crumbling, and cuts your feet when you walk around it. (they have a disclaimer in the room about the problem, but no pkan of fixing it). the pool tastes like salt more than chlorine! worst pool ever. im in an upper room, nice location. but thats it. cigarette marks on Everything. MOLD. dirt. food stuck to walls. curtains are so bad, a homeless guy would throw them away! it feels like they quit on matenince, period. out toilet seat was so loose that we had to make them tighten it. NEWSFLASH, THE PICTURE THEY PROMOTE OF THE NICE BLUE FRESH PAINTED MOTEL, IS ABOUT 15 YEARS OLD!!! ITS NOT EVEN BLUE ANYMORE, ITS GRAY, AND DIRTY! I WILL UPLOAD PIC WHEN I CAN SAFETY ISSSUES: the sliding glass doors are not shatter proof. ours is coming apart from its metal encasment (see pic), Mold in bathroom, and i guarantee in walls. (im a contractor, i know) NO carbon monoxide alarm! i think smoke alarm is dead, no blinking light. Hepatitus Alphabet. (thats a-z). this room is FAR from sterile. have you ever seen Trainspotting the movie? -you get it if so. we booked this as last option, for location. never again!!. HEY SMOKERS, QUIT OR DIE, BUT GO AWAY HEY BED BUGS, BON A POTITE! YOU CLEARLY OWN THIS PLACE! AVOID THIS MOTEL! ITS DISGUSTING!

The new Sea Sprite Hotel is amazing! The upgrades are so great! The location is unbeatable and the staff there was so helpful with our big party. I would defiantly stay here again and I'm looking forward for the next visit!

We stayed again this year January 17th thru the 20th! Trip was so nice. The staff were so friendly, the room was so nice! At night the sounds of the ocean is what we heard. All of the windows in our room had ocean views!! ALL of them! I can't wait to come back! The stay her makes you want to move here. If you are thinking about coming here, GO. It was such a romantic getaway for me and my wife. Thanks Sea Sprite!

They did an outstanding job of remodeling this once shabby and now to a modern beach cottage style. We stayed here last week. And Natalia at the front desk was amazing and deserves a raise for her friendly demeanor and outstanding customer service! Thank you for a wonderful experience right on the strand! It was exactly what we needed for our staycay and will definitely keep them in mind for the next time my family just needs a break from the hustle and stress of the city :)

We have been going to the Sea Sprite every year as a family for 5 yrs. We absolutely love our time here. Why 5 stars. Pure and simple Location! And the staff is very kind and accommodating. We stay at the Beach House every year and as a family are able to stay together and enjoy the space and time. The beach house definitely could use a remodel. Which this year they are beginning a major remodel. I was a little panicked at first when we found out that our parking spaces had to be taken by the construction crew. However it worked out fine. We were not terribly inconvenienced with them other than packing up was a little harder. I will say I am nervous about the prices going up and pricing us working class out of our annual trip. But I am hoping they keep it affordable. Also they adopted a different reservation system and we hope to get our same dates as every year. Since we see all the same families every year. I hope that doesn't change.

Love this place - old school. Right next to probably the most bustling bar scene in town A real find. Try it.

Nice location..but very noisy at night. No a/c, and was very hot and uncomfortable trying to sleep...not much sleep at all. I should have requested my money back, the room was way below par. Scary, crusty and downright nasty. I would not recommend this to anyone. My advice would be to look at the room before you pay!

THE POOL IS GONE!!!! GONE!!! NEVER TO BE REPLACED!! After over 30 years of coming here as a child then later with my own family I will sadly never be coming back!! What were they thinking when they decided to do away with the amazing pool and replace it with a stupid patio?? I passed by there a few weeks ago and the workers who are in the middle of renovating it told me the pool will never be replaced.We have been going there for years because of the location and pool. Not anymore!! Why should anyone have to pay over $300 a night for a room when they took away the pool and have no plans to replace it?? New management is heartless!! It was just fine the way it was before: a retro motel with spacious rooms, a fridge, little stove, even a pull out sofa bed. That was all that was needed. It didn't even bother me if some of the furniture or appliances were outdated as the location and pool trumped it all.
